Former Nun February 2, 2016 Share February 2, 2016 As far as Cruz is concerned, he's such a nasty piece of work, I'm sure his days are numbered. But I'm a Canadian, so what do I know??!!! Speaking of Cruz and "a Canadian," where are all those birthers from 2008? SURELY they weren't questioning Barack Obama's birthplace because of his race. Those good, organized Americans need to hoist their PR ball again. 12 Link to comment
Milk-Eyed Mender February 2, 2016 Share February 2, 2016 (edited) I'm surprised there's been so little activity here today. Thought for sure there would be a lot of comments, since the Iowa Caucus was last night, and especially that the blowhard Trump didn't win, but that other crazy loony toon, Cruz did. That's the problem with getting a good discussion about legitimate contenders off the ground. Trump's candidacy is providing good cover for the party's less unhinged but even more dangerous candidates, who will be seen as palatable and reasonable once the showboating Trump and evangelical quack Cruz fall by the wayside. And they will. Enter: Marco Rubio, vile as hell despite the Ken doll packaging. :( And the fact there is not one person on The View panel intellectually equipped to discuss the danger a Rubio represents heading into the 2016 elections is unfortunate. Or would be if the show had any viewers or the ability to influence a conversation as in years past. There are bright, eloquent and clear-eyed women out there. Why The View won't hire one is beyond me. Edited February 2, 2016 by Milk-Eyed Mender 12 Link to comment

bannana February 3, 2016 Share February 3, 2016 Today Joy said that someone on Cruz' campaign tweeted that Carson was out of the race. Her point being that that impacted the voting and possibly Trump would have won. But Paula shut her down, twice saying that the Cruz camp denied doing this. Except today it's been verified and Cruz has actually apologized, and even said they should have corrected the misinformation once Carson found out and let them know he was not out. I didn't know about this story before Joy spoke about it, but I was annoyed at how Paula just states that they denied doing it, and Joy says, there was a tweet, and she named the guy, and Paula says, they deny it. WTF? She should be a politician. If Paula is supposed to be the credible "journalist" or newsperson, she needs to stop showing her bias and defending Trump and Cruz. I was liking her because she stood up to Miss Whoopi but all of her Trump love and now this idiocy...anyways, I hope that tomorrow Joy goes after this again and points out that Cruz actually apologized for his campaign! 17 Link to comment

I remember we were all pretty happy with Nicole until she started getting silly & climbing up Miss Whoopi's butt. I remember the day they acknowledged that Nicole was leaving and she gave her speech about it being love at first sight when she met Whoopie and told Whoopie a few more times that she loved her. In the meantime, Whoopie was picking her fingernails or mentally writing a grocery list and never really acknowledged anything Nicole said. Whoops is sensitive like that. I do think, however, that since politics is Nicole's passion, she would have removed her head from Whoopie's ass long enough to possibly have a few interesting conversations. But, we'll never know because they needed room for Raven on the panel. 9 Link to comment

I was going to look up the word "revanant" before we went to the show, but I happened to see the book it was based on at Barnes and Noble just beforehand, and the definition is on the front cover. Very apt. (No, Whoopi, that doesn't read as apartment.) Travolta and the actor who played Johnny Cocran, and Cuba Gooding Jr., have been on many talk shows pimping their show. It must be appallingly bad (given the makeup and prosthetics on Travolta). I remember when it all happened, think he is guilty, and don't care to see it again. In fact, she loathed her and thought she was incompetent. But if you mean that she may have picked up a high-pitched voice from being around Palin, that's very funny. I liked Nicole but wished there was someone else who was politically savvy to counteract her. I remember when she said that "the whole world" thought that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. That was revisionist history. The United Nations did a weapon inspection, and had found no evidence of them. The Bush administration simply ignored the UN, and before it could finish its work, rushed into the war after making Colin Powell give some shaky testimony with those dubious aerial photographs, and Condeleeza Rice started talking about a potential mushroom cloud. Joy wasn't there then, or Rosie, and I like to think one of them would have counteracted Nicole if they had been there. As it was, everyone just nodded, trying to look wise--and it drove me nuts. They had a bright, eloquent woman IMO with Nicole and fired her a year before the election. Apparently it's not what they want. I was thinking the same thing last night (Monday) when she was on MSNBC with Rachel Maddow, Brian Williams, Lawrence O'Donnell, etc. and did good job. She's a frequent guest on Maddow's show and I think still contributes to Morning Joe but I am rarely up early/late enough to watch it. I liked Nicole but wished there was someone else who was politically savvy to counteract her. I remember when she said that "the whole world" thought that Saddam had weapons of mass destruction. That was revisionist history. That's why I like her on MSNBC and even NBC - she doesn't pull that stuff, especially on Maddow because Rachael is at least 10 times more politically savvy than Nicole. Cosmocrush February 3, 2016 Share February 3, 2016 I just tuned in to Whoopi pontificating about voting and how "It's all about the Voters" citing the 2008 election blah blah blah. While I applaud her efforts in encouraging people to get out and vote, my first thought was she, "should learn her history" as Miss Whoopi likes to yell at us. The 2000 presidential election certainly wasn't "all about the voters" for example. I think it's important not to forget that our 46th president, George W. Bush was not chosen by the popular vote but ultimately by the Supreme Court. Sorry Joy, you aren't clairvoyant after all. Rubio came in third in the Iowa caucuses because he was predicted to come in third. The pundits had it right. 7 Link to comment

Miss Whoopi seems incapable of having a conversation; she's either totally checked out or lecturing everyone as some sort of expert and it doesn't matter what the topic is, Whoopi knows more than everyone. Today for example could have been a good discussion about women being able to say "No" to things and instead of talking about how to learn to do that, [for example I learned to say no by answering requests with, "let me think about it" and then figuring out a good way to say no if that's what I decide] Whoopi just goes off on a rant about how she doesn't do anything she doesn't want to do, her kid is the most important thing in her life, blah blah blah. When she said that part about her kid always coming first, I wished someone would have asked her, "How did that work out for you?" tenativelyyours February 3, 2016 Share February 3, 2016 While Fox loves to claim it is totally unbiased even as they do everything they can to blare how biased they are, it always amazes me that even many detractors of Fox think the other main networks are "liberal' in leaning in terms of their news divisions these days. Despite the primetime line up at msnbc, most of NBC is strongly conservative and big busness. Tom Brokaw and his successor Brian Willaims spent years of hard work making sure that the Bush administration even before 9/11 defined the narrative -- anyone remember in the spring of Bush's first year the attacks on Iraq saying they broke the treaty that ended the first war with Iraq even as the Bush administration then turned around and declared the treaty was in effect and weapons inspectors had to enter the nation to find those WMDs? My point is that Paula demonstrates more and more what a major network broadcaster is allowed to do on air even if in a different seat then her news reading role she is paid for by the same network that pays her for her 'View'. There is such blatant partisanship here. Cruz won so now he is the main wagon we need to bring the rest around to defend. I don't think she "got it". It was definitely an awkward moment. I remember we were all pretty happy with Nicole until she started getting silly & climbing up Miss Whoopi's butt. No. At least not me . I watched and still watch Morning Joe. I was appalled when she was hired. I was infuriated when she did the same thing as I now complain about in regards to Paula. in fact she was already showing her own tendency to be all things Conservative and I think if she was still there, you could go back to my posts about Paula and in politics simply apply the edit to replace Paula with Nicole. Plus I lost track how many times she would simper on the The view and throw out vague disinformation and half-truths about President Obama and then go on Morning Joe the next day and simply peel back her skin and show the repellent intolerant creature she really is. Showing me that her bit on the View was simply a reining back and diluting the toxic attitude just enough to pass muster and seem reasonable to a show that had seemed tired of Hasslebeck antics and stridency. And I am glad Nicole is gone even if that means we have Paula. Had Nicole stayed she would have pushed even more and still played the pretend patronizing voice of reason. That whole Peggy Noonan type bullshit that tries to pretend it isn't partisanship (let alone often outright lies) its simply the truth. Paula is slightly constrained by her other role and she is slightly constrained by the fact that she is still one of the new people on deck. She isn't going to rock that too much. though we have nine more months basically of this madness and it will be interesting to see how many times she shifts since Republicans have shown what a circus their primary season turns out to be going by the last two Presidential elections. One primary Cruz, then maybe Rubio, Trump then looks to resurge, Christie has an odd anomaly of a showing in one state maybe like Gingrich did. I think her head will be spinning trying to keep track as to who she wants to win. Nicole was brighter and more insidious in that regard. Like her desk quarterback Scarborough she cheers for no matter what, she knows to keep it general and vague and does a damn good job of pretending whoever is on top, well she supported him all along. Paula's just not seasoned enough or sharp enough to know the whys. She barely knows the whats. 12 Link to comment

GHScorpiosRule February 3, 2016 Share February 3, 2016 (edited) Okay. I'm a third of the way into yesterday's show, and Paula did, in fact, say that Cruz's camp was denying that tweet about Carson, even when Joy said it came from Steven King, but Paula double downed. And Joy asked her if she thought someone was pretending to be King? So much cross-talk, I couldn't make out what Paula said in response. I didn't hear anything about the "evil" of Cruz in that exchange. So maybe King thought Carson dropped out because he left Iowa? Don't know. Don't care. But they did totally confuse me with the line of thought that IF Carson had dropped out, then his votes would have gone to Trump? Eh. Assuming anyone would have voted for Carson. Assuming folks were undecided between Carson and Trump, because those two are SOOOO alike, right? In their "policies" and personalities? Joy didn't say she predicted Rubio would come in third--she said she predicts that Rubio will be the nominee. I don't think that's quite the same thing. Poor Paula. I think it's a knee jerk/reflective action that keeps her making excuses for why Trump didn't win. Maybe because a lot of the voters aren't Trump supporters? I know that this election in Iowa doesn't mean shit. But maybe the Iowans remember what Trump said about them? Whatever. I'll have more later... In fact, that's exactly how she described herself on MSNBC the other night. Nicolle, unlike Paula doesn't claim to be a journalist or bipartisan. I don't agree with any of her politics but I appreciate that she can talk politics without going crazy/yelling etc. And when she was on The View I found there were other things to like about her as well. I don't mind Paula either, for many of the same reasons although I don't think talking politics is her strong suit;she doesn't seem very interested and mostly repeats thing she heard. I don't think that's quite the same thing. Exactly--that is all Joy said. Tbh, I don't really care who the nominee is as long as they don't win. They're all pretty crazy this election, even if Trump is the worst. It's as if they don't remember losing the past two presidential elections for being too extreme and war-hungry, and instead buckled down. Count me in as another one glad Nicolle's dead and buried on this show. She seemed nice enough when she came on the season previous a couple of times, but proved she's no different than the others they tested once she was hired. She added as little to the show as Candace and Raven, imo, because she could only work in one mode and she wasn't even too great in that one. In her entire tenure, I can't remember her giving even one straight response to any topic; it was all beating around the bush with her. I guess Paula would annoy me the same way with her politics if Joy wasn't there, too, but at least when Paula turns the politics off, she seems like a halfway likable person that I could get along with and believe the other ladies do get along with. There's a warmness there that Nicolle did not have--unless kiss-ass counts as "warm." I really hope Joy doesn't keep this haircut she's trying out. I mean, I would enjoy her regardless of what she wears/looks like, but it doesn't look great on her. Raven, find a new ax to grind. It’s not a politician’s job to be a role model for you (and you are hardly a child anymore) or any other child. She and Candace struggle to add anything to this show, and most of the time sit in silence. 7 Link to comment

The people, excuse me, handlers in her life are really infantilizing her, aren't they? It's not her fault. ..they didn't teach her to be an adult! Wow. I admit, I totally zoned out at this part. It's like when she says something intelligent, she has to erase it all by then saying something idiotic. I was enjoying what Dreyfus and Danner had to say about being in Madoff, so of COURSE Candace had to butt in and change the subject by talking about Dreyfus's children/family. Jaws, crap? BLASPHEMY!!!!! 7 Link to comment
Foghorn Leghorn February 3, 2016 Share February 3, 2016 The young people in the audience were eager to vote.....and that is really to be supported............but Miss Whoppi had to lecture them anyway. Good grief.....compliment them! Don't lecture on good decisions already made. Thank you for posting this which is exactly what I thought! She was preaching to the choir for God's sake, STFU! I am soooo sick of Miss Whoopi I could scream like she does at us EVERY.SINGLE.DAY except for blessed Friday! 8 Link to comment
Kenz February 3, 2016 Share February 3, 2016 I have never known a human with an effing perfect life, but I guess CCB has achieved it. Everything, no matter what the subject regarding... husband, family, friends, teen kids, work, home, etc is just so peachy dandy. Alrighty then. So true! She makes me have a toothache with all that sweetness and perfection. When she said today that she wanted to look good for her man all of the time, I winced. I wonder how she tears herself away from her wonderful husband and adorable children who are so far away in California. 10 Link to comment
Cosmocrush February 3, 2016 Share February 3, 2016 (edited) Joy didn't say she predicted Rubio would come in third--she said she predicts that Rubio will be the nominee. I don't think that's quite the same thing. It's not quite the same thing. Thanks GH. I stand corrected on that. And Joy is hardly alone about Rubio. Anyone tuned in Monday night could hear the the leaders of the "mainstream establishment faction" of the Republican party breath a collective sigh of relief that Rubio did as well as expected. He is their best hope for a nominee and if the two nutjobs in front of him flame out, he will likely win the nomination. Personally, I'd love to see it go all the way to the floor of the convention and split the party but I'm with Joy - it's probably going to be Rubio. ari333 February 3, 2016 Share February 3, 2016 ...the harder they fall. Remember Kathie Lee Gifford? Great point. I do recall that. If CCB's life is super perfect, good for her. What bugs me is that there is an air (imo) to her that others are beneath her if they are not like her. 13 Link to comment

Except for the "trauma" of seeing porn at age 12 that affected her for life. Raven mentioned she was in California filming Blackish, and "yay, they still want me on television!" maggiemae February 3, 2016 Share February 3, 2016 Grow up Raven....you're 30 years old. IMO she cannot understand she, herself, is a role model. Why does she think it is up to everyone else to "teach" her? Good grief......she could easily be a teacher with 6 or 7 years of experience behind her. 4 Link to comment
