WW would be fantastic. I have mixed feelings though because former AMC actors generally have gotten the short shrift on Y&R. I had been hoping Tucker would turn out to be Sharon's father but no, I guess we can't have her related to Katherine Chancellor (and Devon...).

Didn't Sharon sleep with Tucker?

Terrible promo. It seemed like lip service cause nothing in the promo was new and exciting.

Of course she did. Show wanted to make sure I understood that I wasn't getting what I wanted.

I've read elsewhere that they're going to rebroadcast Nikki and Victor's 1984 wedding on Friday, 12/30. Apparently this is a big deal because a) a lot of former characters are in that episode (e.g., the Brooks sisters), and, b) some current characters are played by other actors than the ones now playing them (e.g., Brenda Dickson). This should be interesting but was anyone pining for a revisit to Nikki and Victor's "great romance"? I might could see it if TPTB were getting ready to kill one of them off but I doubt that's in the cards.

The promo was a farewell to the past few regimes IMO. It just made the point the characters are going to be familiar again and showed many of them. I appreciated the message it conveyed.

I'm not sweating story direction yet. I just like feeling like I can trust that the HW actually has a plan.

Is Y&R usually reticent to play flashback clips or vintage episodes when the role has been recast? I'll definitely be checking out this vintage episode!!

Spoiler

oh lord, yrinsider tweeted a pic of blonde bombshell phyl and nick together....

Why would they blonde up Phyllis? Her red hair is part of her branding. I mean it looks lovely but it's So weird.

Is Gina a natural blonde? Maybe this is TPTB's way of letting her grow her own natural hair color out. Kinda like HT's Victoria was always blonde, to the point that her brown hair threw me for YEARS when she came to B&B, and they just went with AH's brown when the role was recast.

Jack could still call her Red for the fire and passion that ultimately defines the character, though.

MS went brunette for a while near the end of her run as Phyllis didn't she? I think it was after MAB had gone and MS was no longer starring in the Phyllis Summers Hour. I don't remember what Jack called her during that period though.

Right. She went Morticia as I recall. Very very dark brown and poker straight. She was asked to go back to red though she confirmed (in a live chat with PB) largely because of Jack's "red" thing.

She was blonde many years ago when she began on One Life to Live.

HT was brunette when she was 1st Victoria and gradually went blonder & blonder over the years.

This is true. I remember that part of the reason HT's Victoria eventually became a blonde was storyline related. It was when Ryan MacNeil was killed by his ex-wife Tricia- she shot him on the day of his wedding to Victoria. Tricia wanted Ryan back, so she bought the same wedding dress, then locked Victoria in a closet and took her place at the altar. I believe that it was TPTB who wanted HT to lighten her hair and cut it so that it would look similar to Sabryn Genet's (Tricia) hair.

Interesting, I never knew that!  To be honest, I think she looks good as a brunette, but blonde was her best look.

Next week she will sue Chipotle because they got her order wrong, which only happened because she's black. Get the entire fuck out of here suing these people because she didn't get hired to play a bit character who appeared in less than 20 episodes.

Holy moley, I followed those three links posted on WW's page. The ones from "Celeb Newz" and "Celeb Dirty Laundry" appear to have been written (and I use that term loosely) by people whose first language isn't English. In fact, the CN article seems to be the CDL one but with a few words changed and some paragraphs and sentences rearranged. I almost feel badly for people who take clickbait sites like that seriously. Apparently most of the content on those kinds of sites are written for pennies by people in third world countries (or maybe second world since they have internet access). It would be so much better, IMO, if WW wasn't supporting such an exploitative and trashy form of online journalism...but I'll still take him as Sharon's wayward daddy.

LOLOL  jm is responding to the fans who don't like nick and chelsea together or kissing..

he says something like 'to the 3 fans who won't be watching anymore'....

i don't think they will do a thing for the ratings exceppt cause them to either be lower or just the same...doubt if they will increase.

His feelings are clearly hurt. Lol. He wanted Chick so bad but apparently the fans...not so much. The problem is JM has been catered to way too much as an actor. That's why Nick is so hateful. He gets away with everything and is still a whiny bitch.

It's one thing to speak up for your character and voice objections and another thing entirely to think you can dictate every single story. JM's refusal to look like a bad guy completely ruined the Summer paternity story IMO.

i guess he knows how weak his character (and portrayal) is because he is afraid for nick to take any "hits"...

only thing is, the way it comes off (knuckledragging douche bag) is completely nauseating and doesn't do his character any good either.

I like her both ways. I think if you're cool toned or neutral and have cool shaded or undertoned eyes you can pull off both. It's not common. Not to brag but I can as well. It's when people are warm toned the light dye sometimes turns brassy or clashes with the orange or peach in their skin. Jmho

‘The Young & The Restless’ Star Eric Braeden Deletes Offensive Tweet, Says His Account Was Hacked

Aaaaaah....I'll bet donuts to dollars that EB had nothing at all to do with creating that. I'm black and I see memes similar to this on a regular basis using the N word, cuz I know ALL of my relatives watch this show alongside AMC. I was hoping for Michael Munhey level of attention whoring blow up so we could finally be rid of his character, TBH. :(

Language aside, didn't Y&R have the largest percentage of black viewers back in its heyday? I know my mom was a fan of Drucilla and Victoria Roswell especially before Roswell went batshit nuts. In the 1990s it was pretty rare to see black doctors or businessmen or....whatever Drucilla did on TV apart from the black-oriented TV shows at the time..

Yes, in the 1990s it definitely did and I remember seeing articles on it, maybe before that too? I think that meme is also partially a spoof on Everybody Hates Chris, wasn't there a running joke about the Dad watching Y&R and him referring to what Victor was getting up to?

Not related, but over the weekend I saw an episode of American Dad with a funny Victor reference: a trailer park mom type was accused of having a Burt Reynolds tattoo and she screams "WRONG! It's Victor from The Young & Restless!!" and pulls up her tank to show a cheesy tat of Victor with the Y&R red symbol.

For what it's worth I saw on Twitter that Kate Hall, one of Y&R's scriptwriters under Pratt/JFP has returned to GH. I don't know her work specifically but it signals that Sally is making space for her own writers. Hopefully that helps the godawful script writing we're seeing.

Y&R suffered a huge loss in viewers when Shemar Moore left way back when. There was even an email going around back in the day where execs were wondering what was going on with the ratings.

CBS used him and VR a lot in promoting the show. Not just in the US either.

He was played by Bryant Jones, Devon is played by Bryton James (McClure). If memory serves me right Bryton was actually on Family Matters at this time.

And no problem, I wish I could find info about the show hemorrhaging viewers once Shemar left.

i had also read that a significant amount of black viewers left with VR too.

I wouldn't be surprised. She carried the Winters family, when she left the first time Neil and Olivia proceeded to get ignored or destroyed. When she left the second time they ruined her daughter as a character and put Neil through a succession of love interests (by my count he's had 5 in 9 years where's the previous 15 years of his tenure he had 3) trying to recapture the spirit of Dru and it never worked.

Btw what's with the lack of Y&R spoilers lately?
