If you need any last minute gifts for the Domingo fans in your life...

My first reaction to that was "that was quick." I don't even think the one for David S Pumpkins had that short of a turnaround.  (Both the regular one and the 3 pack with the two skeleton guys are NOT cheap these days)

On the flip side, this one of Conan O'Brien as a superhero is the closest we're getting to a Funko Pop of Moleculo ("THE MOLECULAR MAAAAAAAN!")

Since Chappelle is still in the host rotation, I'm surprised he wasn't called in for the post-election show because that's what he did the previous three times (2016, 2020, 2022).  I suppose per-Inauguration is close enough for Lorne.  Question is, are we going to see Dana and Maya one last time?  There's a lot of material for sketches with Biden and Harris heading out the door (and yes, I realize people would probably bitch about it, but that's never stopped SNL before).

I know Kamala lost the election; but I'm still surprised Maya disappeared off the show after that. I'd love to see Maya's Kamala at least one more time.

Not exactly media, not exactly outside projects, but there’s a 4-part series on Peacock - I think the title is “SNL 50 Beyond Saturday Night”. I enjoyed first one, which was a lot of audition clips and the cast members talking about them and looking back.

I've watched 3 and a half of the four episodes (I just couldn't get into the writer's episode.)   I expected the series to be a more straightforward history of the show from 1975's Point A to 2025 and Point B.  Instead they look at the show in four differnet ways:  Casting, Writing, Intensive view of one sketch (More Cowbell!), and Season 11.   I enjoyed what I saw and will eventually go back and finish episode 2

That musical documentary was great. Questlove was 100% the correct choice to be the one behind this. That's a man who loves music, and SNL. That opening montage was incredible. I got a laugh out of putting "Under Pressure" side by side with "Ice Ice Baby." But they really had the audacity to have a segment admiring how 8H was built for the NBC Symphony. Yeah, it had good acoustics for THEM, not so much a stage for a late night variety show. And shout out to that brave soul who admitted to being the sound mixer, now we know who's responsible for it. If musical guests sounded like they did in this doc, nobody would be complaining. But if anything this explained why it’s so wonky, sound check and blocking is just so quick and last minute.

Loved all the weird counterculture performances like Bowie, Zappa, The B-52s, Talking Heads, and Captain Beefheart getting some love. And you can't talk about all time SNL musical performances without Devo. Suddenly Timothee Chalamet doing double duty doesn't seem so out of the ordinary. (just for this era)

And holy crap, they actually showed Sinead O'Connor ripping up the Pope's picture. I thought NBC burned that footage. And it was REAL easy to say you admire what Sinead did NOW, Lorne. I remember the Joe Pesci episode. And the sketch with Jan Hooks as Sinead "apologizing" and getting booed.

Speaking of crazy stories, the Rage Against The Machine one was nuts. When you're paired with Steve Forbes, you kinda expect something like that to happen. But getting kicked out of 30 Rock because one of them attacked his family with a bunched up flag?

And man am I glad they didn't whitewash Kanye. Dude's nuts. I knew his performance in the Adam Driver episode was crazy, but I didn't know there was so much more of it. Everyone on that stage looked like they wanted to shrink and die. And it was Ego's first show! I completely forgot about that.

There is a forum to discuss the SNL music special here,

Is there a reason why the SNL related specials can’t be in the SNL forum? Or a shortcut/redirect added at the forum level? They’re buried beneath multiple layers of genre and networks, which makes them difficult to find. Especially since the musical doc aired on NBC, but will probably be accessible via Peacock. This micro level of compartmentalizing for standalone specials makes this forum so hard to navigate (and I say this as a user whose been around since the TWoP days)

I'd vote for that as well - maybe like how the Jeopardy! forum has links at the top for the Celebrity and Pop Culture versions?  As it stands, my home page keeps growing every time I want to follow a lot of those single- or limited-episode specials.

I agree. Why was the SNL music documentary not in the SNL forum? I would've posted there had I known it existed.

I put it here as a default thing because it was a documentary. You can always ask a mod to move it

If it is decided to move the music doc under the general SNL umbrella, can we do the same for the other recent Peacock doc:

Hi everyone,

creating a subforum or subforums is possible. Is it just the SNL50: Beyond Saturday Night (that's the only one that seems to be indexed) or are there other topics/forums?

Thank you.

Please go back to about Monday in this thread. We were originally talking about the music special (Ladies and Gentleman…)  I think the consensus was that it would make sense for both of those to be added or linked here.

I assume there's more SNL content from People, but I haven't looked for it yet;
