Why can't Billy Miller be playing AJ?

For me he looks way too young to have a kid MIchael's age, but even so I don't see how making him AJ would change anything about how Ron didn't give a damn to give AJ an ounce of respect while writing for him.

Sean was the original AJ, he was hyped to go, up for anything and he still ended up leaving because he could see Ron gave shit all about a real story or purpose for AJ beyond being yet another conquest for Sonny.

Changing the actor, imho, won't change what Ron will do with the character. Which is why I think he decided to make Billy Jason in the first place because that is who he wants to write for. He's much like a petulant child in that manner. He wants to do whatever he wants to do and if he can't then he has a tantrum and fits until he eventually gets his way, or the other side concedes and gives up, much like what Sean did and the aftermath of his departure, and forget about him even accepting responsibility for any negative outcome.

Billy, to me, would have been best off just having his own new character to build up and make his own on this show. What he was able to do on Y&R isn't translating here at all, imo, because the talent of writing and direction isn't even half as good. Recasts can work, but not when you have to depend on Wreck it Ron's visions and ideas.

Then you get Jakson and Liz making plans for a fucking pancake breakfast.

In other news, correct me if I'm wrong, but this was the first time we've ever heard about some big, bad secret Nina has on Rosalie, right?  I thought Rosalie was in it for the benjamins.

The Nina first breattthhheeedddddd about it into her phone when she was leaving countless threatening messages on Rosie's voicemail when she was too busy gaping at a squalling Ava for the first time to answer her psycho boss when she called.

My guess is that it'll involve some sort of paternity hush hush business. The Nina also noted that she was sure Rosalie wouldn't want Morgan to find out about it. Overall I'm pretty convinced it'll be some stupid shit, because well Ron.

Brad's "oh, fine. Jake Doe" made me chuckle. As did Silas thinking the Sonny and Carly video was porn.

Seriously, did it not occur to Sabrina to just fucking text Jordan? Jordan could have just ignored her texts and my brain would have hurt less.

Michael's "uh, yeah, whatever psycho mom" tone also amused me when Carly was like, I missed you, deal with it!

Britt and Morgan have a phone call conversation. It's like Ron is mocking them, heh.

Shut up, dream Nikolas. Shut up dream Britt too but Nikolas annoys me more because of the whole "I lost the woman I was supposed to be with because of you". I have no idea what Ron and Frank gave Tyler Christopher a contract, since it seems the only time they were ever really interested in him was to start off the first Stavros visit last year.

What a weird scenario to be in a co-star/guy's bed while having your first ever on-screen conversation with your real-life boyfriend. I thought both BC and KT seemed like they felt awkward about it, especially BC.

I don't know, those two don't seem very demure, heh. In any case, it's not like they taped it together, so it wouldn't be a big deal. They might have even taped their side of the conversation on different days.

Where is this "Kelly Lee"? And Jason? Moral support? Was it Monavie?

Kelly Lee was an OB/GYN doctor who was a friend of Robin's. They were also friends with a shrink named Lainey Winters. But I guess Piph, Jordan and Shawn fill the African-American quota, so Lainey was exiled. And Kelly Lee was of Asian descent, so you know what that means. But they were on around the time Grey's Anatomy had just started, so GH actually focused on some medical peeps for half a minute. (Robin, Kelly, and Lainey even shared an (nice big set) apartment around that time.)

But here they all are, with now-dead Emily, and Liz from Girls Night Out 2006 (just to let you know, there is an emphasis on Robin/Patrick as they were just beginning here).

So anyway, is Silas CoS now that Dr. O was arrested?

Nope.  Dr. O mentioned in her "Everything's coming up Liesel!" speech to Magda that she was COS.  And Silas today said that he wouldn't tell on Franco to Dr. O if he gave up the dirt about Nina (and, really, nice job at the whole keeping your friends' confidences, SERIAL KILLER).

I love angry Nik.

It seems Tyler, like Michael, got bitten by the same "your character is really pissed off now so come alive!" bug. If only it wasn't a dream, or over more stupid shit.

I really think most of the cast wants something to do but Ron just doesn't give them much. How many times can you really play confused or befuddled or out of the loop without getting bored out of your mind?

These people have brains, they know their characters should have figured so much shit out already but instead they have to keep playing the dopes, playing it stupid, playing the fools, playing dumb, playing duped.

It just isn't entertaining or interesting and I think it's why they almost get carried away when they actually get a few scenes to become thinking, feeling, reacting human beings again, because lord knows when they'll get another chance at it.

  • Love 2

Jason randomly wanting pancakes reminded me of Emma's obsession with them.

Re Robin/Patrick/Sam, it seems like the only reason why Ron keeps Robin around is for someone else to torture her, whether it's Faison, Dr. O., Jerry Jax or Victor and Helena Cassidine. If Ron didn't like putting Robin through Hell every chance he gets, then Patrick probably wouldn't have given Sam the time of day, much less caught feelings for her.

I used to think Ron hated Robin, but now I'm under the impression that he repeatedly has her kidnapped because he believes that's the only way Robin/Patrick would be separated. Edited by HeatLifer

Anna knows about this stuff, though, and Jordan has explained her thought process. Anna might not like it, but the lies make sense in the context of Jordan's goal of bringing Julian down. (That is still her goal, right?)

Bringing down Fluke is her goal, and part of her trying to achieve it is by gaining the Jeromes' trust.  She's helping Ava, but she has implied she thinks what Shawn wanted to do to her was atrocious. So I guess that's something...

Instead of just leaving one annoying message after another, why didn't Sabrina get off her ass and try and track Jordan and/or Ava down if she's suddenly so wracked with guilt?  Why does she always need a gay dude to get her ass in gear?

Why didn't Sabrina text Jordan?

Edited by sometimesfan

I wish they'd give Tyler Christopher something better to do.  His character used to be one of my favorites, back before Mary Bishop and Courtney Matthews happened to him.

Jordan's utter disdain for Sabrina is a thing of beauty.  I like her relationship with Ava and Anna (and TJ, when he's allowed to acknowledge her) but she needs to ditch Shawn.

I don't give a shit about Rosalie or her secret, but there's no way that keeping it under wraps would be worth putting up with that giant jawed-psycho.  Nina just epitomizes backpfeifengesicht.

Re: direction, I know Frank Valentini is a fan of the sort of big acting. Big and fast. It showed in some of the actors on OLTL who got better on the Internet show - Kelley Missal, though I always liked her, was a revelation as opposed to just a screaming vanilla teen on ABC. I think FV wants it fast, big, dramatic and baseline good. And I think it hurts so many performances, not that the writing helps either. (Though it must be said, Frank apparently is willing to do more than one take if an actor needs it.) I know it's hurting people like Jane Elliot, who is clearly struggling with this and trying not to be a cartoon, and IMO Tyler Christopher.

Brad being snippy with Liz made me chuckle. Of course, she couldn't handle it . Why does she bitchy to others & then gets all pout-ie when others do the same to her?

Jake Doe being all things is really irritating. But, he won't remember Robin....will he, Ron?

Because if she texted the story would be dunzo?

Exactly.

KA's skirt did not fit her properly. It awkwardly fell/stuck out in the back.

Nina is all hard edges. She goes from BSC, to manipulative, to threatening ,yet asshat Ron wants me to care or feel something for her. I.DON'T. MSt does need a freaking week or two off screen thou.

Wow, that was only 8 years ago and yet it feels more like 18 compared to where the show is right now. I remember when women could have friendships and interact without near hair pulling and cat fighting and slut shaming, well at least it got spaced out, it wasn't a constant, never-ending theme.

Remembering those old scenes and relationships and then looking at today, having to endure the Nina actually telling Rosalie that if she likes Michael so much she should just go ahead and sleep with him already, or seeing Liz so sour faced over Britt re-wrangling Nik back into her clutches as though she didn't have months to be with him herself if she wanted...Ron isn't writing a soap, I'm convinced, he's writing a trashy romance novel.

All that's missing is big hair, more heaving chest pillows and some guy on top of a horse, and I don't mean whomever's in bed with Carly... (yeah I said it!).

Previews...holy crap, is that Lucas (What's a Lucas?) and Maxie in a scene TOGETHER?!?!

Well you know Ron never, ever had good enough reason to put them together. Sure they're family and friends and grew up together but that's all just boring back history.

But now Lucas and Brad have hooked up and Maxie is in need of talking about her "feels" for Nathan with anyone who will listen so it makes total sense to finally pair them together to discuss their menfolk.

I want Ron racked, I swear to god.

So sad, so true. Compared to now, this stuff from Guza was genius level. At least my gray matter didn't want to shrivel up and die when I re-watched that clip.

Guza had his issues with the show but I think Ron has his issues with humanity in general.

He seems incapable of writing people, I mean any type of person whether they're male, female, adult, teen, pre-teen, child, baby, infant, relatives, friends, and he's clueless when it comes to writing out any sort of professional relationships, personal relationships. He's so out of touch with so much it's mind boggling to me.

And why does shit only happen in dreams with him? Does he really think it's so clever to write out these rather intense scenes that actually move things along to then just go "psych! gotcha!" at the end? He's hopeless I feel, utterly hopeless and out of touch.

Back in the day, didn't Georgie or Maxie (as played by Robyn Richards) have a crush on Lucas before he came out.

Lucas and Georgie briefly dated in high school before he came out and I think it made Maxie jealous for she did have a crush on him as well, per usual, but if I recall no one really cared for them, or he with Maxie, considering they were cousins, though not blood related.

He also hooked up with Ned's daughter, Brook Lynn, before his coming out.

I think they both did.  But the audience was not at all into him being paired with girls he grew up with as cousins.  Lucas went to Brook Lynn, Georgie went to Dillon, and Maxie...I don't remember...that douchebag that made a sex tape of them?

To me Ron did what he does best, grabbing a "desired" soap actor and sticking them into an iconic role in hopes that'll make his job easier.

This reminds me of the possible reason why Ron chose to make Roger into Franco.  Ron wanted Roger to play as close as he could to Todd -- the selfish, self-centered, and (sometimes) self-hating man who never quite forgave himself for his dark, dark past. Who's got a darker past than serial killer Franco.  Easy peezy, right?

Except then Ron attempted to turn the corner on Franco and make him rootable and his actions "the dark past" in one set of scenes, when they introduced him at the get together on the Haunted Starr.  Just the fact they made him Franco was supposed to take the place of all the heavy lifting of watching someone transform and grow (and backslide and grow and back slide).

Ummm, so making it about today's show .... so how about that, ummmm, ..... Sonny? Carly? Dr. O? Spencer?  Okay, fine, I didn't watch. But the barge is having disco night!  And a few people are debating at the Lido deck bar about whether that's tacky and in bad taste.  Plus, at midnight, we're having the ceremonial "shoot Jason and kick him in the harbor" re-enactment.

  • Love 7

I'm not a Franco fan by any means, but I like RoHo and am willing to go along with the whole "serial killer tumor" thing for the sake of having RoHo grace my screen. I'm actually looking forward to whatever Franco has planned for Carly and Sonny. I'm beyond done with those two. They stand in judgement of everyone else, but don't take responsibility for any of their despicable actions. I can't wait until Michael finds out about AJ's true killer and can only hope he goes all rage-y on C&S and disowns them both -- for good. And Shawn -- just standing their today acting like he's capable of pulling off a successful hit. Not only is he incompetent, but he's an arrogant ass that needs to get shot and rolled into the harbor.

Lord help me, but the past two days are the ONLY time I've found ME remotely attractive since he's been Silas, McBain or the vampire dude over the last 2 years. He actually seems engaged in his scenes and has more than a pouty, constipated facial expression. So far, pulling ME out of his stupor is the only purpose I can see Nina serving -- other than creeping me out with her OTT gestures and wacked out little girl voice.

Billy, to me, would have been best off just having his own new character to build up and make his own on this show.

But then there would be a lot of complaining about another newbie taking up screen time (and rightfully so). Plus newbies created by Ron? Not a good mix.

For some reason, I seem to need to have a soap in my life. Probably because I've been watching one soap or another for practically my whole life. But the general state of the writing and direction on this show sure make it a challenge to stick with it.

Previews...holy crap, is that Lucas (What's a Lucas?) and Maxie in a scene TOGETHER?!?!

An actually Lucas sighting?!?

I think they both did.  But the audience was not at all into him being paired with girls he grew up with as cousins.  Lucas went to Brook Lynn, Georgie went to Dillon, and Maxie...I don't remember...that douchebag that made a sex tape of them?

Actually, Brook Lynn (before her Dante/Lulu interloper crap) and Lucas were actually gaining a following - then Ryan Carnes left, and so it went. Then Brook Lynn was on as a visitor or something and Ben Hogestyn's version came out to her as he knew she was a friend and trusted her or whatever.

I'm of the AJ is alive out there somewhere camp. If everyone else it, then hell, so is he. It's Sonny's get out of jail free card.

A get-out-of-jail-free card I would be more than glad to see played.

I guess she and Patrick could hook up again too.

I suspect that Sabrina for Patrick will be what Liz was to Jason - i.e., the backup squeeze that will always be kept around as a placeholder fuck until Patrick's next "One True Love" comes along.

I also stand by the belief that neither one of them would have been interested in each other at all. Neither one had the personality or the things surrounding them that would entice the other. All that being said, if Carly had been written in character and gone after him with guns blazing for what he did with Danny, Todd would have retaliated probably by going after the people Carly loves the most... maybe stuck Michael in a shipping container and sent him overseas, dug up the dirt on her kids, or exes and plastered them all over the front page of his paper. At the worst, he may have punched her in the face and knocked her the fuck out. (He did that to Tea.)

A Todd-vs.-Carly feud would have been way more interesting than what we saw play out on screen.  I wonder why it was never even considered...

I think Brook Lynn was still a regular character when Ben Hogestyn's Lucas came out.  Wasn't she with Diego then?

I couldn't focus on the fake fight between Nik and Britt because, my god the hair. Nik's. It was awful, just so so so awful. Dream or reality, he's really pretty gross.

If Kiki was trying to channel Cher from Clueless, she failed miserably. She should take a cue on how to dress from her mother, who even when in terrible pain looked amazing. And today is the first day she's ever worn pants! But I guess Ron thought if anyone knows what it's like to be pregnant in agony, it's Maura. She's certainly had enough practice, real life and reel life.

I noticed Sabrina conveniently covered up how she switched the pills on purpose. Go DIAF, baby killer.

Rosalie's secret? I could give zero fucks.

I hope Liz and Jake choke to death on their pancakes.

I'm a fan of Nik, but even I guffawed at the weird chunks of hair that fell out of their mousse after he shook his head in rage.  I got a very What's Eating Gilbert Grape feel, and I did not like it.

The show broke up RyCa's Lucas and Brook Lynn in favor of Brook Lynn and Diego, who TWoP dubbed Diegoak, or [],  because the actor was so wooden (though he did improve). RyCa'sLucas faded into the ether and didn't resurface until Maxie, BL, Dillon, Diego and Lucas were in college. BL was actually broken up from  Diego and Lucas for a while at that point. The show decided to have Lucas come out as gay, and RyCa was already playing gay characters in movies and Desperate Housewives and didn't want to be typecasted, so he left and Ben took over. He was actually a pretty decent Lucas.

Always thought that Brook Lynn had a pretty legitimate reason to hate Lulu and not want her with Dante: the show presented her as being pretty close to Georgie and and tight with her uncle Dillon, and supported their relationship, and Lulu came in a torpedoed it. She didn't need to be paid off by Carly. Hey, did RC copy the Lulu/Dante/Brook Lynn/Carly script for his Kiki/Michael/Rosalie/Nina storyline. Both Brook Lynn & Rosalie even fell for the mob boss' sons that prefer cougars.

I really enjoyed Nikolas's screaming today.  The contrast with Nathan's unconvincing bleating yesterday was particularly stark.  I don't understand why the show doesn't have more for TC to do.  Okay, the hair is awful.  But he's one of the better actors on the show, he plays an important legacy character, and when he's not all puffed up, he's also one of the more attractive guys they have.  Why can't the show make better use of this?

They never mentioned any of that though when she returned though, and it had been about 4 years already since Lulu had busted up Georgie and Dillon. What's worse is that Edward offered her money and a place to stay if she went to college and Brook refused. So Guza, you know, as usual, just made her look completely awful.

Because he's not a woman-hating, murderous, ineffectual mobster?  Just spitballin' here.  (Before the argument starts - Nik has not always treated women well, for sure, but he has, to my knowledge, never kidnapped and threatened to kill a pregnant woman, shot a woman in labor (in the head!), or hooked a young woman on drugs to get her to strip.)

  • Love 2

And what's sad is that Brook Lynn having history with Dante from the Bensonhurst days made total sense.  She would have made a perfectly legitimate spoiler/point in a triangle with Dante and Lulu without the gross Carly/prostitute angle.

While it is an admitted change of pace for GH, I must admit a part of me is still mystified as to why ANY 3rd party for Dante/Lulu has never gotten off the ground. There was Delores the cop, who vanished. Brook, as said, could have been a legitimate rival but instead became pretty much a prostitute and, thus, discredited. And crazy-assed Stavros doesn't count.

I know we talk about constant cheating being uncreative, but the fact that Dante/Lulu have had no real tests in 5 YEARS together is mind-boggling as hell. I know GH needs SOME stability, but in their age range, IMO, they're too young for it. I thought Lulu's baby rabies may have been the start of some real conflict, but now that seems to have also faded into oblivion.
