Bishop April 3, 2016 Share April 3, 2016 (edited) It should be to Sam, but I think it would occur to Jason. I don't think he thinks anything is beyond Nikolas. I hate that Nikolas is a bad guy but Hayden is the good one. Once again, the writers are condemning a vet and promoting a newbie. They did the same thing with Lulu and Valerie. Lulu is tripping over herself to apologize to Valerie for sleeping with her husband while Valerie stands on her high-horse refusing an apology from Lulu (WTF) because she's upset that she almost got killed - yet ignoring that she tried to kill Lulu's father? Not a big deal. I just hate how they write the vets. The writers love to boost newer characters at the expense of the vets. I'm all for change in characters, but Nikolas hiring a hit on a woman??!!! In the history of his character, when would that have ever been true?? Ever? I worry for this new Jason. He seems softer than silk. I like that he seems to emote a little more and seems to want to be something other than a mobster but dear god!!! I hope they do something with him and soon. Jason is a brain damage amnesiac and in this show that means he is slow and stupid. SMH He is so different from SBu's Jason - and not in a good way. I'm sorry, but the writers from RC to this new regime have changed his character so dramatically, that I refuse to call him Jason. He's Jakeson because he's mostly Jake Doe with a VERY small smidge of Jason Morgan - and most of that is due to the leather jacket. How many more times is Sam going to be the brains? Hey, I don't think Sam is dumb at all. She's a smart cookie, but she basically has to lead Jakeson to the breadcrumbs, point them out to him, and then question if he's getting it. "Do you see what I'm seeing?" Then he sort of looks at her with that Scooby look "Ruh-ruh?" I can't tell you how many debates I get into with people who insist that they are seeing the old Jason emerge, and all I can do is stare at my tv screen and go "Where??!!" I think they thought the ongoing joke (from old school JaSam as well) that Sam was better at fixing shit and Jason was better at cooking would be cute. I mean, I love the banter, but they couldn't have it be something a little more difficult than a BOX? The writers need to stop trying to make them Jasam and/or Jason and Sam and just write a new lovestory for Jake and Sam. Trying to fit them into the Jasam box of old is just not working at all. And speaking of stupid lazy writing.....Sam couldn't find out Hayden's real identity with a buttload of info she already gathered, but she literally grabbed the 2nd shooter theory out of thin air....and will solve that? Ok show. Either make her competent or not. But choose one. What's even nuttier is that Sam couldn't put the pieces together regarding Hayden's alias, but Elizabeth can go onto the Internet and find all the clues. How does Sam miss that? Then with something more complicated, it's as obvious as a sunrise. I.don't.get.it. The Corinthii worship is beyond vile. There are fans of the Corinthos family and of Sonny - as hard as that is to believe. I am one of them, and I don't find everything he says to be an horrific thing. I'm okay with people hating him, but it's okay if some of us like the character (and actor). Granted, I'm sure I'm in the minority on these boards. I loved SBu's Jason Morgan as well, which is why BM's Billy Abbottesque Jason Morgan is such a bitter pill to swallow. This show just has no freaking balance. They don't know how to write layers within a character. I just wish they would stop moving the goal post. This person is bad. Oh wait, no they are good. This person hates his father for killing his biological father. Oh wait, no, he's okay with it. This person is furious over a betrayal. Oh wait, no they don't think they were betrayed. The writing for these characters is the problem - which is why I find it hard to hate the characters sometimes. Is this how they avoid fallout on this show? Because the way Michael acts, you would never know Sonny intentionally murdered his father. That's exactly what the writers want you to feel. There is no other explanation. I mean look at the dialogue. Sonny constantly throws in Julian's face how he got Duke killed and how he deserves to go to prison. Do you ever hear the character say "Hey Sonny. You murdered AJ and got away with it. So why are you on your soapbox?" You will never hear Julian say that. You will never hear Michael ever mention Sonny killing AJ. Why? Because the writers want to pretend it never happened, which is why Michael acts exactly the way you stated. It's the wish of the writers. Edited April 3, 2016 by Bishop 3 Link to comment
ulkis April 4, 2016 Share April 4, 2016 I hate that Nikolas is a bad guy but Hayden is the good one. Once again, the writers are condemning a vet and promoting a newbie. Ron took Nikolas too far even before Hayden showed up. I don't think it was to promote Hayden that Nikolas has her shot; I think it was all in the service to keep Jason's identity from coming out just a little bit while longer because Ron was a hack. I don't even think Hayden looks particularly great now; or that the writers want us to think she's 100% right and Nik 100% wrong (which is crazy), it's just that Nik looks that bad. This I can't blame Passanante and Altman for since it was Ron's ridiculous idea to have Nik shoot a woman into a coma; it would be a cliche but at this point maybe it would be best if there were a third shooter. I dunno. 9 Link to comment

The problem is though, that everything is slanted from this point of view. They are writing solely for the Sonny and Corinthos family fans. What about the rest of us? What about those of us who don't want to see Sonny praised continuously day after day, basically pretending something to be true just because characters are forced to say it? What about those of us who don't appreciate Sonny being blameless while Ava receives all of the blame? What about those of us who would appreciate at least one of his kids hating him and it staying that way? It would be one thing if there was a balance or a mix between the two, but I can't imagine that there are any Sonny fans unhappy with his writing or his story. They certainly can't complain about air time, or that he's being treated unfairly. The non-Sonny fans simply have to endure endless OTT viewings of the same thing, over and over again. No one is allowed to be right. No one is allowed to stay mad. It's lazy, unimaginative writing and I'm bored, sick and tired of it. 21 Link to comment

I mean, I love the banter, but they couldn't have it be something a little more difficult than a BOX?. That was PAINFUL. Jason can build a bomb but a toy box is beyond his capabilities? It couldn't just be a big bulky thing that could be assembled faster with two people? And he was "using the wrong tool", really? It's a BOX. You're using a hex key or a screw driver and if he's honestly trying to use a Philips head instead of a flat head screw driver? He needs to be reexamined for brain damage. I like that Sam can MacGyver a car engine. She spent time as a car thief and lived and worked by herself on a boat - that makes sense for the character. But Jason ran a motorcycle shop where he fixed motorcycles full time and he has owned his own motorcycle for years. He knows how to fix the damn things. I can't help thinking that the writers believe they're writing to the level of their audience - and that's damned insulting because this shit is stupid. I felt exactly that way about the show basically sweeping everything that happened between Michael and Sonny re: AJ under the rug. It was crystal clear they were appealing to Sonny fans who wanted Michael to stop being mean to him about shooting that fat Quartermaine. And I wouldn't even have begrudged the shooting leading Michael to decide he wanted to have some kind of relationship with Sonny. But by having Michael fall to his knees and beg for forgiveness and having his purpose on the show reduced to telling Sonny how awesome he is, there's no balance in the storytelling and they basically told the section of the audience who doesn't like Sonny to go fuck themselves. Why - in this time of precarious viewership - wouldn't you want to find that balance, to appeal to as many viewers as possible? Edited April 4, 2016 by TeeVee329 14 Link to comment
Oracle42 April 4, 2016 Share April 4, 2016 I think TIIC believe that, due to Guza's relentless mob focus, most of GH's remaining fans are also Sonny/mob fans. They seem to have decided that lack of mob/Sonny was responsible for the dreadful ratings last summer instead of acknowledging that RC was serving up a hot mess in every storyline - in addition to his focus on Fluke, his precious non-GH characters and quads in every age group. JP/SA are still playing out his stories. RC dropped and wrapped up just about everything W/A were doing within his first month. I think TIIC honestly believe that they're playing it safe by turning GH into the Sonny hallelujah hour and employing the most boring unimaginative duo in soaps 7 Link to comment
Bwill3133 April 4, 2016 Share April 4, 2016 I think that the story with Michael and the Quartermaines/Sonny and Carly was a big miss when they sent Michael back to the Corinthos with no problems. Giving Avery back, immediately forgiving his parents; it was a huge mistake. If they wanted them to interact because of Morgan they could have but just with chilly reception from Micheal and with him NOT giving Avery back at all. They had a good plot involving a lot of the characters for the next couple of years. Writers solution: KILL THAT STORY. Back to the episode: Curtis shutting down Dante was one of my favorite scenes. Why do you care Dante? You know who usually gets left out in the cold in the affair with married people? The non-married person. Get over it Dante. I would love for Sam and Jason to have more meaningful conversations but I guess the banter with Sam being better at fixing things is here to stay. I'll take what I can get for right now. I'm glad they are going to talk to Shawn to figure out hopefully who was responsible for shooting Hayden. Nikolas is seriously trying to play like HE was the one played with Hayden. Please. That said, as nice as ME and JE seem to be together (and that split-second where Liz kinda went 'Hmmm...' over him), I'm still pushing like a madman for Liesl/Hamtaro hatesex. As for the ongoing Rayden trainwreck? Okay, so Nikolas may at least be considering trying to have her killed again...yeah, I'm kind of over this now. If the show really is pushing for them as a couple, this was probably the episode where they needed to have both Rayden and Nik express (privately would have been nice) that they're both still kind of hung up on each other, if only to give folks something to root for--however flimsy--so of course they botched that.
