How did Sonny get Michael's new number?

That is an excellent question.  And more proof that the writers don't watch this show, or even read scripts written by others.  This is going to really bug me.  Maybe the goon Sonny took the phone from knew Michael when he was in prison, and they've kept in touch so Michael gave him his new number?  I kid, I kid.

In Dante's defence he didn't know AJ, had no previous relationship with him, and his knowledge was only what everyone (Sonny, Carly, Michael in the beginning) was feeding him.  On paper, AJ doesn't come across that great.  He did kidnapp Michael, Morgan and Kristina and make everyone think they were dead.  Then faked a death and ran off to Europe to hide out.

Disclaimer:  I despise Sonny with the heat of a thousand suns and am am a gigantic AJ fan (loved Billy Warlock's version though hated the show's need to make him a scapegoat for everything.  Loved Sean's version and hated how Ron ended it).

I am not like you in I do not like Dante the wonder cop Working under cover, is shot in cold blood. And about to get a second bullet until Olivia interrupts it. He cannot see where Sonny is just evil.  Sonny wanted to kill AJ and just the same way he put hits on other people he did exactly what he wanted. He killed AJ because Michae l loved him, and stopped believing AJ was the wrong one and not the one wronged.   Like you I thought SK did a great job playing AJ but also like you Billy Warlock was the actor who made me always root for AJ. Killing AJ again made me go back to the barge. I barley watch this now. I hate Sonny with the fire of a million suns and carley also. This show has turned into a wash, rinse and repeat. I have no desire to  watch. I like a few actors but to see them I have to watch everyone  FrankenRon write as saints no thanks. Oh also. AJ did take his son, but remember the parents of the others had a hand taking his son FIRST> Paybacks a bitch. I always loved the way B.W.s AJ never quit, never stopped finding ways to try to get his son back. Ron fixed it so it can't happen again. So  I have watched a total of one half hour since AJ died. I do love coming here and reading whats going on.Thanks

Michael's verbal beat down of Sonny made this episode for me. But then as the ep unraveled, I realized that Michael will discover that he turned away Sonny and gave important info to Fluke... so he'll feel all bad n stuff and realize that Sonny really is his dad and the angst is unwarranted and he was wrong to dismiss Sonny and Carly blah blah blah.

But as a viewer for decades (except for the years I could not stomach the SonnyCarlyJason show) I will always have those moments of "this can't be my dad calling, because HE'S DEAD" (paraphrasing). Now that's some good soapy writing (and this is, after all, a soap, so that's a good thing)

I loved that. I liked Liz! And it made it easier for me to ignore the fact that Lucas is an idiot right now in regards to Carly/Michael.

I was at least happy that Liz a) was Team!Michael in understanding why he would be so furious at Sonny and Carly and b) got to point out that Carly is a lying bitch whose number one loyalty - for all her talk about her children - is now and always to Sonny and/or Jason.

I remember thinking that Billy Miller was not going to be able to take over the role of Jason and be a success at it.  I didn't think that because I thought Burton was any good, I thought that because I didn't think Miller could possibly dial back his natural charm and accurately portray a loathsome, mentally dead mutant devoid of any charm - a state that's a natural one for Burton.

WRONG!!  Playing the Borg has drained Miller of any likability or talent.  Him laying unconscious on the docks was the highlight of the show.  Bringing the Borg back to life - terrible, terrible mistake.  I just hope they're paying Miller enough for this.  He must feel dirty.

Carly and Shawn - those two talking - excuse me, Snarly yapping, Shawn flexing, was so bad it was almost a parody.  That woman just can not shut up.  And hearing Sonny call Shawn a professional was almost as funny as seeing that Shawn actually thinks of himself as one.  Him being all put out because Michael got a restraining order??  A RESTRAINING ORDER??  Isn't Shawn supposed to be a mob enforcer, and now his hands are tied because of a restraining order?

Romper Room could come in and take over Sonny's territory.

I see Fluke got his Frau Blucher accent back when he called Sonny.  Now if they would only give him Igor's movable hump, the storyline would be in business.

boes, thanks for the laugh. This show has gone sooo far over the line its in the next street. Guess I should watch a little ,Sonny is in jail and Michael hates them both. Of course if I turn it on that's the day it all goes back to the unholy three and I will have to throw something at my TV.

This show sucks more than usual. When the Sonny/Julian snarking is now the highlight, something is wrong.

That "who, me?" Constipated look that Jake gave when Carly found the gun was hilariously bad.

Michael is an equal dope for talking to Fluke about what Sonny said. Are these hilariously bad storylines for real. Even the Samtrick scenes bore me to tears on FF.

Carly said "Dr Jones" sarcastically, so I was okay with it.

It is due to Carly, according to Lucas' dialogue today, that Lucas is becoming a doctor (rme).  The actor portraying Lucas was cute in his trying to figure out how to portray a doctor (putting something in your shirt pocket and standing around with hands clasped in front of you).

Poor Tracy/Jane Elliot.  I know that she chose to be working with TG but, unless Luke is going through a DID phase, it is going to be even tougher to watch her character being scraped off from the bottom of RC et al's scripts.  Sigh.  I like that kick-ass lawyer Alexis showed up today but unfortunately actor Sean had trouble with his timing in all of his scenes with Carly, Alexis and the inanimate object.

Bonus points today for instilling an extra at the hospital that was either a visitor or a patient.  Although I think that Carly has had more scenes at the hospital this past month than any other cast member. The hospital and Q's set didn't look all grey today - and there was only one gun today on the show and two doctors.

That herpetic outbreak looked especially bad on Julian today.  My poor brain was responding by having to look for something else in those scenes and the only thing to focus on was the closed-captioning to see what MB's batting average with his dialogue was today.  Bye Anna.

I was highly amused and annoyed that Sonny referred to Shawn's* latest errand as an exhumation. Bitch Please! When it's not done in a legal or medical capacity it's desecration. Hope he washes his hands between digging up graves and making BLTs.

I remember all of the phone numbers where I lived including the one from the house where I grew up, before it had numbers as the first 2 digits. It had letters that stood for something else. Mine began GA2 which stood for Garden2. These were on a rotary dial too (but no, I didn't have to connect to an operator first ;)).  I can remember my grandparents' numbers and my Dad's work place and they're all dead now.  My husband and I laugh since often times he would ask me for his parents' number, and he often messes up our zip code.  LOL

I remember the ones I had to dial - that burned them in memory.  And there was only one number per household.  Today I don't know any but my own.  It's a funny thing the show forgets that.  Since they deal so little in real life on soaps, they forget the little details, along with the big ones, like most people don't come back from the dead.  Or aren't presumed dead without a body.

The idea that this manipulating is done confounds me.  You'd think that management would want the most objective and truthful responses possible if they are interested in developing their product.  ?????

Nah, they just want a tongue bath.

So is FH leaving or just taking some time off?  It's bad enough Ava has barely been on screen the last couple of months, now Anna is going to be off too?

I dunno.  I would think she would have to be around when they introduce the recast Sloane next month.

IIRC, I think someone posted, maybe even back in TWOP, that Finola and Maurice had both asked for extended time off "later" in the year. Here's hoping that her storyline is the result of that request.

Don't you just know Sonny is going to come out of this whole crapfest story smelling like a rose. He is going to have Carly sitting on his lap and Michael at his right hand. Some idiot writer is going to explain away Sonny shooting AJ, he is going to have saved dear precious Michael (his favorite child) from the clutches of Big Bad Fluke and the evil Helena (who by the way Sonny has never gone up against), and before long he will have Jake/Jason sniffing around again.

CRAPFEST in every sense of the word.

I had so hoped that with Bernard taking some time off to do something else we would be spared his presence on the screen.  No such luck. Sonny is still there.  Pretty soon he is going to be sitting behind the warden's desk running Pentonville too.

I'm just waiting for Sonny and Julian to Batman there way out of Pentonville with a KAPOW! and BAM! to those bars and run in their matching brown pajamas to rescue Michael and Lucas from "the Evil clutches of Fluke" with just their bare hands. It will be epic! Epically hilarious.

My guess is that RC will give the illusion of everything going back to normal for Jason, but it won't. They'll give the Jason and Sam fans their big payoff because that's what he does - there will be a reunion, a big celebration of their love and affirmation, and everyone will think 'oh, it's back to more of the same.' Everything right now is building up to that. But ending it there is not usually how RC does it, especially when it's a new hire and he has a chance to do his own thing. What he'll do next is begin to eat away at it. Jason isn't the same man, the same husband, the same mob guy. The story will become Jason torn between his old life with Sam and Danny, Sonny, etc. and something else. Which is the story that absolutely should be told, IMO, but I doubt Ron and I would have the same idea on how to execute it.

They did the same thing with Jason and Sam when Steve left - gave them their payoff, then pulled the rug out. John McBain was even the first man at her door! Ron is a master at it, and this happens whether people are leaving the show or not. He does it to create a false conclusion and then shows you, once they're happy, why the existing couple doesn't work anymore. I actually think it's one of his better routines. He will give you what you want and then he will take it away, sometimes for a higher purpose, more recently for a very dumb idea. He's done it over and over but I know people will fall for it again.

I think there's a slim chance they'll just go back to the old rut no questions asked - Sam, Sonny, the mob, etc. But I just can't see Ron wanting it left there. That would have to come from the network.

Previews...I get that Maxie and Nathan are in the gooey, honeymoon-y part of their relationship, but do they have to spend every scene in bed?  Can't we see them having a drink, getting dinner, coming home to the apartment from a movie?

I don't think Jason is going to automatically go back to his mob life.

Ron will reunite JaSam. But the thing that stalls the happily ever after should be Robin, IMO. Not some inner Jason struggle or some fake confusion about Patty vs. Jason from Sam. It reminds me of when Real!Patrick! and Robin were fighting about Jason and Patrick didn't believe that Jason would drop his wife and son to save Robin. That would bring everything full circle.

To be fair the last time they were on they were both doing their thing and met up fully clothed, unlike SamTrick who I thought were NEVER going to put clothes on and leave that stinkin' room! They were like having 832083278 talks about Jason while naked. That was just gross. Plus they are full grown adults while Naxie seems much more young cute love. They are more believable as always in bed than SamTrick.

I'm just personally never going to buy Sam wanting Patrick over Jason. She'll be just as OOC as Robin Who? Patrick. But Ronnie loves OOC!

But I could logically see Sam being upset about Jason going to save Robin right when they're reunited. Along the lines of "Let Anna handle it. We just got you back!"

"oh, who would have thought going on along with my grandma's evil plan instead of just fucking turning her over to the police would once again end with one of my female friends or relatives being in grave danger?! Oh, it's all Emily's fault for getting strangled by that serial killer!"

I'm still hoping he's playing Hells.

I'm sure he is, but it's still incredibly dumb. That's what he did with Stavros and Helena and that ended up with his sister frozen and violated, he got himself shot, and he now has a potential nephew/half-brother out there to boot because of his going along with their plan.

Exactly.  He seems pleased as punch that he made sure to cover himself by saying Sam et. al couldn't be hurt and, naturally, Hells makes an attempt on Sam's life the very next day.

Minor but very annoying plot point:

I get that Michael has good reason to be pissed with Sonny and should stay angry for a long while.   But he's a supposedly intelligent and aware young man, so where the freak did the kid's brain go when he refused to hear Sonny out on pending danger re Luke?  And when he immediately blabbed to Luke about Sonny's warning???

He knows how Sonny's world is and he knows that danger can come from very surprising sources. Example #35698256375 of making a character look DUMB to make or prolong a plot point.  Sure,he's rejecting Sonny and his world, but does that also mean rejecting all that he learned growing up in Corinthos Chaos?

Exactly. Michael is thinking about how he can hurt Sonny, not whether Sonny's call is actually warranted. Michael is acting much like his parents in this respect.

Don't either or you get me wrong here.  I like Michael and I've already said that he deserves to be really pissed with Sonny (and Carly, too, for that matter).

But that still doesn't mean he should let his anger blind him to the lessons he has learned in the past and to fail to be wary in his present situation - unless, of course, he is living in a plot point world.

As for thinking like this parents ... I expect most of us will agree that is NOT necessarily a good thing.

I understand about letting things go (translated to "giving the writers a pass"),   However, I've done so much of that I now have a barge full of things I've let go.

But he did call - so the way Michael responded is on him - not on Sonny.

I think the way Michael responded is on that time Sonny killed his dad. But I think the show is obviously painting it as "mean old Michael! He just doesn't understand what's at stake, Sonny and Carly have everyone's best interests at heart! Fluke is bad news and A.J. was fat!"

Yeah, but if getting this information to Michael was super crucial, maybe Sonny shouldn't have started the conversation referring to himself as Michael's father.  Just saying.

And yeah, why not reach out to someone else who might listen to what he has to say?

It's all a set-up for the "I should have listened to you, Dad, you loved me even when I hated you, please forgive me!" reconciliation.  Blech.

I miss a lot, so this only applies if Michael does, in fact, know about Fluke's previous existence.  He may look at this call as Sonny having found out about the Fluke thing and using that to try to get in Michael's good graces.  "Oh, I'll call Michael and tell him to stay away from Luke, because he could be dangerous, and he'll see how much I care!  Then he'll have to forgive me!"  So he may be writing this off on that basis.  As far as he knows, it's ridiculous to be afraid of the real Luke, and he believes that the real Luke is who is presently living at the Q mansion.

Ron does it every time: The person who has a right to be angry, who has righteous reasons for feeling wronged, is always painted as unreasonable or clueless or petty (or just a hypocrite). 'Michael didn't listen to the man who killed his father and now look what happens!' I can't count the amount of times this went down on OLTL.

If Sonny had been using his brain (Hahahaha!!!!) he would have had Julian make the call. At least Michael might have actually pondered what motive he would have to warn him about notLuke considering Julian really shouldn't or wouldn't care if anything happened to him. At the very least he perhaps would have kept his big mouth shut and not have merely blabbed all to notLuke two seconds later.

Again, don't get me wrong. I keep agreeing that Michael has every right to be pissed - third time i'm saying so on this page.  And I'm on Team Michael re seeing him stay mad for a good long time (with the proviso that he temper his anger by realizing that there are degrees of guilt among those against whom he is currently venting his anger)

But I still don't like seeing characters do things to further plot points (or in this case the possible development of the POV of other characters) against what should be their better judgment based on past experience.  In Michael's case, a very extensive past experience which should make him way.

So my beef is more about lazy writing  than about Michael.
