We haven't seen those young women in so long that there is a ton of room for creating the roles. And let's face it, it's not as if existing history matters with these writers. I don't understand why we're getting duds like Nelle (sorry, Chloe Lanier! You deserve better!) instead of women with genuine ties to the canvas who would also work as love interests for Michael.

Maybe Nelle IS related to someone after all. They need to reveal it already though, this is getting a much.

You know who else needs an actual storyline already? Griffin. Poor guy has been here since February 5. Either use him or lose him.

Nelle reminds me of Tara on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Both blah characters. At any moment I expect Nelle's super stereotypical hick family to show up and be like, "we's a-gonna take you from these rich folk Nellie-girl" and Carly, Sonny, Joss, and Michael step around her and reply, "no, Nelle's mean family! We're her real family now!" And then Nelle and Michael dance and float on the air instead of actually kissing, because that's how sexual they are.

This legit made my day :)

Although since you mentioned it, if Nelle had some witchy Tara power and went all Dark Willow on Carly and Sonny I wouldn't hate it. And the image of Nelle and Michael dancing and floating in the air ala Tara and Willow will never ever leave my head, lmao, sincere thanks :)

NuSpinelli tried, but another actor in the role really shows (at least IMO) what a singular job BA does.

I hate Spinelli/I hate how BA plays him and I really like Blake Berris, but today I found myself saying, "This isn't Spinelli," a lot and being weirdly put off by it. Spinelli/BA really is one-of-a-kind.

My fave part of this ep was when Robin said, "I just like saying garter." KMc just has such a joy to her and it really makes Robin a breath of fresh air on this show.

I was rolling throughout the Rudge/Julian scenes. It's sort of amazing to watch them retcon everything Julian did this past year. And WdV is so bad at making it seem natural.

I really can't at Nelle and her "I WAS POOR!" whining. That's all she does can we please move the fuck on already! What a complete waste this story is on every level.

I really hope the teased triangle with Elizabeth and Franco happens, though I'm sure Franco will win out in the end.

And she has the nerve to call Bobbie a teen hooker. You don't get into that life because you're rich. Ugh. Nelle is awful. Fatal bullet, wherefore art thou? I'm sorry Michael would lose yet another person in his life, but better now than after things get really hot between them. And by that I mean they hold hands on the ice rink.

She is the cutest little dork. There's just something her presence adds to the show that no one else can ever replicate. So much heart.

And I kinda got teary watching her and Maxie. There's so much history there and I remember when Maxie was a young girl running around and Robin threw her a bday party. *tears*

Do the makeup people actually WANT Mo to look bad? Because the more I see him, the more sunken his eyes look. And they used way too much concealer under his eyes for today's show. His greased back hair and yellow skin make him look jaundiced.

i rolled my eyes so hard when griffin showed up and Sonny confessed his sin of sleeping with Nell. And then of course griffin waved it away and simply told him to 'pray on it.' Or maybe he really said 'prey on it,' which would be quite fitting for Sonny. ?

Not sure why Maxie was wearing a coat/cape when she wasn't leaving the building, but I actually liked it better than the little I saw of her dress. I have a hard time picturing Maxie in a fru fru pouffy wedding gown.

So the waiter who telegraphed he was evil from the first scene, does something to Leo to send a message to Julian? And I guess I'm supposed to care?

Sam is supposed to be in her third trimester and yet she looks about 5 months pregnant if that. At this rate the kid will be in NICU for months just to gain enough weight to go home. And Speaking of NICU, what the hell was with the sign at GH listing (newborns and preemies) next to the word NICU? Does anyone not know what NICU is?

Here's some advice, Sonny: TELL CARLY YOU SLEPT WITH NELLE. The longer you wait, the more it's going to hurt everyone. This non-story is so aggravating.

I hate that ruffled cape Maxie is wearing. Her dress is a little princessy for what I'd think Maxie would wear, too.

Ugh, Nelle and her "woe is me, I grew up poor" whining. She's not exactly on government assistance right now. Everything she has since she moved to Port Charles has been given to her, practically on a silver platter. Shut up, Nelle.

Sonny needs to have Nelly killed. I'm so sick of these mobsters not doing their jobs.

I don't hate that many people. There are like 50 characters on canvas...I'd probably keep 10. Maybe 15.

Does Nelly think she's the only person who had a less than ideal childhood? Lots of people grow up poor, it sucks, but you're an adult and you don't seem to be struggling financially at the moment so maybe STFU and move on.

I LOVE the way WdV played his scenes with Rudge Sludge. It's so obvious Jelly are pulling this out of their asses and he's having a hard time trying to make it seem natural.

Blake Berris didn't capture the essence of Spin at all.

I'm just going to pretend like this Stepford Wife Sam thing isn't happening.

I wish Michael would tell Nell  about his childhood including how many times he was kidnapped, how many times he had to go into hiding because of his fathers enemies and how he was shot in the head and in a coma for over a year. I think his rotten childhood tops hers.

Jordan's dress was great. Her antagonism toward Curtis, though, was not. It's so tired and boring. Hook them up, give them a working relationship, do something with them besides Jordan constantly sniping at him. Ugh.

Ah, but doncha know this year-long antagonism is supposed to be foreplay.  So when they finally have hate sex we'll all say: "Aren't these just the hawtest scenes ever!"   Supposedly.  Are you buying ....

If FV and Jelly weren't hell bent on gutting every character that was on the show or was the child of a major gh legacy character, I would vote for Anna Donnelly, especially for Michael.

I always hated that of all the characters that got cut loose, it was fucking Spinelli, the mob lackey and the spineless "nice guy" who wasn't at all that nice but in fact was a vindictive asshat, was the one that got the decent girl and the cute baby and moved thousands of miles away, not Drs. Matt Hunter or Stephen Webber, one of which was born on the show decades ago. They should have never given Maxie a baby and nothing against Ellie or the actress, but hate that they damaged Maxie's character like this. I don't understand why it has to be all or nothing. Men can live across the country from their children and still be considered their father (look at Jax) why can't women?

Serena gets my vote.  It would tick Scotty off something fierce to see his little girl caught up in Sonny's world.

Scott doesn't deserve that, especially from Serena. For some reason, I don't want a single Cornithii touching her. Frankly, I always hoped she would be the female version of Scott.

If Serena uses Michael to take Sonny down, that would work for me. But of course, no one will ever take Sonny down. Sigh.

This is one of the many things wrong with this show.  It ticks me off that certain characters are always being written in a positive light instead of scum (Sonny, Franco, Julian, etc).  We SAW Sonny hiring the man to blow up Julian's car and we SAW Julian try to kill Alexis.  Sonny and Ava should be responsible for Morgan AND Kiki's death.

Apparently, Julian is being re-written accord to audience demand. Someone who went to one of her events said the network asked Frank V. to re-write it. I . . . have my doubts, but there you go. Something went down, that's for sure.

It's also weird that the Ava swapping pills part of the story has pretty much disappeared too.  You had Carly seemingly figuring out that something was up via Morgan's (stupid) diary, but the show completely abandoned it.  Ditto the Lucy and Scotty cat-and-mouse game about the pills.

Oh, if the audience can demand things, can we demand that Franco be written out and no one cares who murdered him and it can be like Dr. Romano on ER (death by helicopter falling on him...yes, seriously!) where only two or three people go to his funeral?

It could be that the show wants to keep Ava/MW, because we're already seeing a retcon of Julian's evilness.

Really?  There was all kinds of screaming at how Elizabeth and Nik were trashed and the show kept on with their crap.  Franco is still being written as a psychotic tool and the show does not seem inclined to fix their own mess.

But...but he's a good person! Tumor! Redemption! Tom Baker raped Liz and Franco was only protecting his lady!

Seriously, when the former rapist is the sympathetic one in the story, Jelly has issues with writing Franco. What's worse is that they don't seem to care. They dug in their heels for so long about the legit Franco/Sam problems and they think they solved that by having Hallucination! Sam speak sternly to Franco for three minutes.

  • Why was Maxie stumbling around in that ruffly big coat? Is that actress preggers too? I enjoyed seeing slim and trim vet Felicia too although she had only a few words to say.
  • Spinelli hasn't been recast; he had a schedule conflict and couldn't be on GH. NuSpinelli didn't talk like the original recipe Spinelli (using flowery phrases and multi-syllable words).
  • I'm surprised that Freako wasn't given some improbable role in Maxie's surprise wedding (such as playing Father of the bride). Why isn't Mac giving her away? And the gang didn't think of a photog for capturing the uniqueness of Maxie Bridezilla?
  • Will Leo's apparent disappearance rob the wedding of both detectives Dante and groom Nathan, who will dash away to save him?

I think that when an actor brings something very distinctive to a soap role, whether that is something good or bad (in Bradford Anderson's case, it was a little of both; he's gifted, but a little Spinelli goes a long way), there's no replicating it. It's better not to try. So whether Blake Berris watched a lot of tapes or not, he was wise not to imitate BA, and the producers were wise not to ask it of him. He could be a good Spinelli if he had the role full time, but he would be a different Spinelli. Robert Palmer Mellencamp is nothing like the Dillon of Scott Clifton either. He's more like the hunky guy the Scott Clifton Dillon would get to be in the porn he was reduced to shooting.

Some of the other recasts are more seamless, but if you think about it, it's usually cases where the role was played by a "type" in the first place. If someone is quirky, the quirk usually goes with the actor. Or else there's different quirk.

Anyway, to a degree, I'll stick up for Berris. I've seen some of his work on DOOL, and he's pretty good, and for a first day, he was fine.

Was there a Reese on ER? (Or GH, which probably makes more sense. Lol)

There was a Reese on ER and a Reese on GH! The Reese on ER was Dr. Benton's deaf son (who I don't think was ever seen beyond toddler age, because Benton left), and the Reese on GH was Sonny's federal-agent lover. The second time they did that story. Carly's BFF turned sworn enemy. Died of injuries after the Great Train Crash. The actress sued GH because something something pregnancy, discrimination, wrongful termination.

I didn't really like the character, but there was something so sad about dying quietly, surrounded by people, yet no one noticed.

It was sad, and would have been sadder, except that the way they kept having her get jostled while already seriously injured made me think of Airplane

The thing that gets me is they haven't completely abandoned it. Just last week (I think) they flashbacked to it when Sam was talking to Ava about Julian. But they really have effectively abandoned it and that made them bringing it back up there even more confusing.

I think the writers just have no idea what they're doing in any story and so they're kinda trying to hedge their bets with everything which makes everything shallow and nonsensical.

Rewritten how, as the good guy? Because as long as Sonny is around, everyone else is terrible and awful and omg teh evul. Or are they glossing over Julian trying to kill Alexis? In the scheme of things, it's doable, IMO. But he shouldn't be spearheading her recovery. That's gross.

I don't know how they whitewash this one. For all Sonny gasses on about not wanting to kill the mother of one of his children, he had no trouble killing the alcoholic fatty father of one of his sons. And it's clear the show wants to keep MW. The only way I see Ava taking the fall for switching Morgan's pills is when MW is done with the show. Especially because the women always pay for their crimes way bigger than the men.

What's weird is that they were actually pacing it/setting it up in a proper storytelling way - Ava was covering her tracks, but then Carly was asking questions about the medication working and got more suspicious after reading the diary.  But that setup has all been abandoned.  So if they do revive Carly's suspicions eventually, it's gonna feel out of nowhere.

The Lucy/Scotty angle was also bizarre because the show introduced it and then stalled it all in the same breath.  Lucy finds the pills, but doesn't actually blackmail Ava.  Scotty decides to retrieve them for Ava, but basically for an IOU.

Will there ever come a time when Sonny opens his mouth and BOREDOM doesn't come gushing out?  I don't remember an instance in the last 20 years when anything interesting came forth.

I am not seeing even 1 story thread that so much as attracts my interest in the show these days. Jason and Sam do not have even an ounce of drama between them.  Liz and Franco are in a constant re-do pattern. Maxie and Nathan are too. Kiki and whomever, who cares?  Michael the teenager, at least in looks, who runs a big time corporation even though he has no training and gets a headache from crunching numbers, is everyone's white knight who talks a good game but doesn't play needs some action in his little life.  He ALWAYS has really bad luck with the girls in his circle.  Carly is gifted with excessive dialog but it goes nowhere. Alexis has a decent story but once again she is a victim, and Julian is nothing more than a mob-constipated tool.

Why can't the writers do something creative and well thought out?  Something that doesn't take so long to develop that by the time the resolution is actually approached absolutely everyone has lost interest?

Is anyone else wishing for a sparkly unicorn?

I'd have love to seen the blocking for that.

Director:  "Okay, Kim, you and Kathleen stand next to each other."

Once upon a time, Dr. O unexpectedly bursting into an event wearing a fur coat would have filled me with glee, but it was such a dumb contrivance clearly written in so they could juice the promo with something "exciting".  Whatever.

At least they explained why Lucy couldn't be there, I'd much rather see her visiting with Serena than most of the junk we do get.

Of course, no such explanation was offered for Lucas' absence, which is bullshit.

Awww at Mac with his girls, including his granddaughter, FOR THE VERY FIRST TIME ON-SCREEN!

Was it necessary to have Liesl storm in on the ceremony? She's been more of a mother to Franco than she has Nathan. Unless she's going to clear up the question of Nathan's paternity, I don't need to see any scenes between them.

Maxie's dress looked too traditional, but at least her hair and makeup looked decent today. Thank God this wedding is over. Next milestone: trying to have a baby or being on the verge of a divorce. Maybe both simultaneously if the writers are feeling frisky.

That ten second scene between Valentin and Anna showed so much chemistry and potential. Give me more!
