In times gone by it would’ve led “Jacked Up” on Monday Night Countdown.

I would rather watch "Jacked Up" for 3 hours than tonight's suckfest. The Chargers are in the Playoffs with the win tonight (😒). Both teams & this game couldn't suck even more that it already has & it ends up with the Chargers getting in the Playoffs. They'll either get their asses kicked or find a way to choke it away on Wild Card Weekend.

Yeah, the games could have been better, but I loved having football on all weekend.  It certainly made spending about 28 consecutive hours with my parents easier (and I love them, that's just a really long time).  Barf to closing with the Cardinals handing the game over to Tampa Bay in the end, though.

My dad doesn't pay attention to football anymore, only watching when I'm over, so he was cracking me up asking questions like "Oh, are the Rams really good this year?" and, especially, "THIS is the guy they babble on about as the greatest QB of all time?!" about Brady.

Tonight's game was dreadfully boring, but I was visiting with a friend, so we just had it on as background noise, anyway.

If YouTube makes this available even to people who aren't subscribers to YouTubeTV, then it'll make Sunday Ticket more available to more people.

That is not happening.

Sunday Ticket has the value to YouTubeTV for what they paid for it, because it will be tied into their traditional cable TV style bundle. It will only be available to people who subscribe to a YouTubeTV package.

If you read the announcement, what I described is actually happening.

Now, it will be available either as an add-on for YouTube TV subscribers or à la carte via YouTube Primetime Channels, which launched last month to “bring shows and movies from more than 30 services directly into the YouTube interface.”

Primetime Channels and YouTube TV are different services offered by YouTube.  Primetime Channels allows you to subscribe to premium services right from YouTube just like you could rent/purchase movies right from YouTube independent of YouTube TV.

You don't need to be a YouTube TV subscriber to access the channels from YouTube but if you are, there's a section in YouTube TV to subscribe to them as "add-ons."

Maybe it'll cost more money for non YouTube TV subscribers but ultimately, they won't be forced into a specific cable provider for access the way they were for most of (all of) the time with Direct TV.

For a guy who's at the end of the road, he still plays at a high level. But there's no denying he's gotten the hell beat out of him.

JJ Watt retiring is making me feel old.  Wasn't it just a couple years ago that I was watching him at Camp Randall Stadium?  I agree, he's had multiple injuries and perhaps becoming a father made him realize it was time to get out.  He's a great guy, a great Badger, always doing things for charity.  I wish him nothing but the best in whatever he decides to do next.

Ah. I had read the MSNBC story on it, and missed the words "a la carte" when describing what Premium Channels meant.

The article did say this about how they might sell it:

While pricing hasn’t been determined, consumers will likely get more bang for their buck by subscribing to YouTubeTV and adding on “Sunday Ticket,” which shows out-of-market NFL games on Sunday afternoons. It’ll also give them access to nearly all NFL games in one place. Google’s YouTube TV bundle includes broadcast stations like CBS, Fox and NBC.

Wonder if they'll offer sweetheart deals like DirecTV did if you subscribe to YouTube TV.  Usually I could get Sunday Ticket free or deeply discounted every two or three seasons to get me to stay with them.

DirecTV's gonna be in a world of hurting, though.  What percentage of their subscribers only stuck with them for football?

Well however they do it will be around 300 a season with youtube

I'm just glad I'm not stuck with directv anymore solely for Sunday ticket.  There is no other reason I have it.

On the other hand now I actually have to decide if I go with cable or all online.

I am facing the same dilemma. I only had DirecTV for Sunday ticket. No time like the new year to make changes!

If I was starting from scratch, I'd go with online.  I did a YouTube TV trial a couple of years ago and it wasn't bad.  Some of the things I didn't like about it seem to have improved, if what I'm reading is accurate.

But I'm spoiled by cable, even though the DVR seems to break down at least once a year and has to be replaced.  I also worry about streaming caps if I ditch cable.  I can see in my cable stats that every Sunday during football season, my data usage skyrockets because I'm streaming Sunday Ticket all day.

Haven't had DirecTV in five years and haven't missed it, not one bit.

What are the chances that Tennessee is going to right everything that is wrong with them by tomorrow night?

Slim and none.

Yeah I think having his son at his game made him realize he wants to be around and healthy to see HIS son play.   Get out while you can still walk and think.   Let's see what he does next.   Maybe commercials, maybe broadcasting, maybe coaching.  But those last 2 involve a lot of travel and missing your kid's stuff.

And with JJ, it is more than injuries on the field.  He had atrial fibrillation earlier this year and had to have his heart shocked back into rhythm.  That's got to make one think.

From the approximately 27 minutes of Raiders games I’ve seen this year, Derek Carr was not the problem.

Then you've missed his league leading 14 INTs, several for pick sixes. He's a huge part of the problem. The team is unwatchable.

Raider fan here.

We used to be able to negotiate with them, but when they merged with AT&T, they wouldn't budge off of the price.  We're with Dish Network now. We've been able to see most Buc's games, but there are a few that we missed (and thankfully so!)  I hope that it will be a simple process in order to watch NFL games.  I hope they don't over complicate things or expect us to pay for extra streaming services.

I'm really concerned for Tua Tagovailoa.  We didn't realize that he suffered another concussion against Green Bay.  That probably explains the interceptions.  I love watching him play, but I really worry about his health with continued concussions. Take care of yourself, Tua!

What are your thoughts on McDaniels at this point, on a scale of thumbs up to pitchforks?

He's brought nothing. I'm Team Pitchforks. 😂

It's a sad state of affairs when you've been outplayed by Matt Ryan.

Stop that.

Before the draft this year a coworker was disappointed we (the Steelers) didn't pick up Matt Ryan.  I said I think it's good we didn't.   Pretty sure he sees things my way now.

I don't know where Derek Carr lands.  I know nothing of Jarrett Stidham.  Is he good enough to be the starter next year or do the Raiders need to go on the hunt for a starter?

This can’t be true.  (I didn’t even realize this was a video so apologies if you watch it and it’s garbage.  I was just looking at the graphic)

It could be. CBS is carrying the game. I think it's the game of the week as it starts at 3:25.

Sigh.

ETA: I didn't get the part about Romo about being the demon curse for Vikings at first. Well if that's true, Vikings will just have to break the spell on Sunday.

Happy New Year, Packers!😈

There are four 4 PM games and this is the only one that doesn't have an AFC team playing.  Weird CBS would make an all NFC game the game of the week.  Then I remembered the Pittsburgh Baltimore game was moved to Sunday night. I bet that game was supposed to be the CBS game of the week.

So if I have this correct, it makes absolutely no difference what the 7-8 Titans and 7-8 Jaguars do this week. If they both win or they both lose, it all comes down to next week when they play each other.

If one wins and the other loses, it still comes down to the game next week. If the Jags lose this week and the Titans win this week and then again next week, they finish at 9-8 and the Jags at 7-10.

In the case where the Jags win and the Titans lose this week, and then if the Jags win next week, The Jags finish at 9-8 and the Titans 7-10.

If the Titans win this week and the Jags lose, and then the Jags win next week they both finish at 8-9 and the Jaguars win the division on a tie breaker.

So regardless of what happens this week, the winner of next week's game is the division winner. (Don't ask me what happens if a tie gets involved.)
