I was roaring at the Tic Tac bit. Seth has been on fire lately!

That Tic Tac bit was picked up all over late night and social media, but none that I watched mentioned that he was probably supposed to be using the props as an example of "shrinkflation," which is a form of inflation.
If anyone was going to mention that, I would bet it would be Seth. But nope.
Shrinkflation was a buzz word on some of those entertainment/news spots a month or so ago, but I guess not too many remember?
If the person doing the Tic Tac bit remembered the term "shrinkflation," likely he figured his audience wouldn't, so he (or the teleprompter person) substituted "inflation," which did not make it any better.

I still haven’t gotten over 59oz cartons of orange juice.

Worthy of being an Emmy-winning submission, and that’s still my opinion after having watched Colbert’s and Fallon’s bits post-night 3 of the DNC:

I also noticed all week Seth (wasn’t allowed to?) never said exactly why this was the end for the 8G Band.

Seth is a good company man who owes a lot to Lorne and NBC. Reports said that he did all he could to negotiate a budget that would include the band. No need to bring, or imply, any ill-will during the tribute, it's just business.

I think I read somewhere that losing the band is a budget issue.

It's an interesting bit of evidence on how the Late Night TV world has changed a ton in the last 15 years. Because even with a band the budget for Seth's version of Late Night must be tiny. Pretty much the entire show takes place from the desk with hardly even any kind of big props or anything like that. But looking back to when Conan was hosting Late Night he was doing remotes bits (including travelling overseas), he filmed the show from other cities and he even did a claymation episode. The only time Seth leaves the studio is for Day drinking.

Plus Conan's band leader would go on to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame so he couldn't have been cheap.

The Day Drinking with Kevin Hart was the first time I ever bailed on that segment, which is normally highly entertaining. I guess I shouldn't be surprised, since Mr. Hart's charms are largely lost on me, but I couldn't get through it. It just wasn't funny. And there seemed to be a shortage of drinking, compared to the copious amounts of alcohol that usually flow in this segment. There was a lot more talk than tipping, at least in the part I saw.

And what was that whole toilet training thing all about? Hart seemed to be implying that it meant that 'going' in his underwear was ok. He basically said this a couple of times, before Seth was like, "You never go in your underwear!" Like Hart needed to be told this? It was just weird.

But from now on, whenever I see KH in a commercial (which is often), I'm going to be thinking, 'He's 'going' right now!!'

I don't know how to submit to Corrections, but maybe a techie reading this thread will and does! I'm useless at that sort of thing.

Okay. That's me. And, FWIW, I am now age 71.
On Reddit I learned it's through the Comments on YouTube and to put "CORRECTION" so Seth can find it.
I just posted there under a different user name:

Quote

CORRECTION
It is "Smokey Bear" not "Smokey the Bear."
— just complaining for a friend.
I grew up assuming it was Smokey "the" Bear,
but not so much: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Smokey_Bear#Popularity

Hrumph.
We got a mention, but it was literally just:

[SNIFF] Smokey Bear, not Smokey the Bear.

Watching Wednesday night's show on Peacock now.
Seth is very hoarse.
Just said he had a "cold."
I shudder for his interviewees.

Nevertheless. Best written stuff, best props, best visuals of the Late Nights.
The "I do you right now" Closer Look is Emmy worthy,
hoarseness and all.

His debate round up was so much better than Colbert's. Seth seems to really care about politics and pay attention to more than the obvious jokes. He contextualizes and really digs into the substance of an issue.

I was horrified he was breathing all over his guests, though, with whatever virus he's carrying. They were even hugging!

Sometimes he just seems to be reading lines he was given by his writers. This time he seemed a bit more involved.
Regardless, I'm sure he does have a say in what's said.
And his show usually takes a beat of a day or so before going live with the newest news — time which they seem to use to make it better than the rushed commentaries that air right after a debate, speech, etc.

The hugging at least had their faces pointing away from each other. I pretended they had planned to both hold their breaths for the duration of the quick-ish hug.

Poor Wally, getting called out every time he slips a blank card into the stack😁Unlike other errors Seth has pointed out, Wally seemed to take this one pretty seriously - trying to cut short the riff, then offering a solid "I'm sorry."

I've heard he gets paid some kind of required salary if he has lines - I supposed even a "I'm sorry" would count.

By the way - Kristin Chenoweth's dress was a horror. She's never been a red carpet standout, but I'd like to know who talked her into that.

SO happy to see Brian Williams back on TV.  I could listen to him talk all day or night.  He's such a fabulous guest & I hope he gets another show VERY SOON!!

He was really fun...up until he gave us his take on what the Dems need to do and why.  I was so glad Seth pushed back on him- gently, but still pushed.
