I've been seeing a promo for a new series called Betrayed, which sounds like Stolen Voices, Buried Secrets v.3.0

So happy I found this forum.  I can't believe it took me so long!

I watch almost all the shows from the Good the Bad and the Ugly on ID.  I agree with those that find the re-enactments extremely bad and the actors not even close to what the real people look like or close to the correct age.

I watched Pierce Morgan (whom I run hot and cold with him) and his interview with Erin Caffey.  She is one cold fish.  Her responses to his questions were so off and very disturbing.  Her detachment from anything close to human emotions or feelings were so obvious. 

Not a Joe Kendra fan.  I tried watching it but I ended up staring at his huge eyes and did not hear a word he said.  I've seen the actor that plays him in the re-enactments but not sure where.  He is a cutie and it cracks me up that everyone is smoking in the re-enactments. 

Can't stand Wives with Knives, Deadly Women (that narrator chick gets on my nerves) Scored and most of the Fear Thy Neighbor.  I like A Crime to Remember because they show the real people at the end and the actors are relatively close to what they looked like.

Tired of the sexy red underwear seductress shows and the ones that almost show people actually screwing.  It's pretty steamy for daytime reruns.

Happy I found you guys and adding this to "My Shows" so I don't miss a thing.

I have to comment on this. I saw a show,"Perfect Murder", a few weeks ago and I couldn't believe what was depicted. The guy was straight between her legs, pumping and thrusting, and she was moaning like she was trying out for a remake of "Debbie Does Dallas". And then afterwards she was tweaking his nipple. I have nothing against porn but at 9 p.m. about a true event where people get hurt and murdered? I understand the evolving or devolving standards of the time. I follow politics. But, wow. I guess in a few years they'll be re-enacting blowjobs. Or maybe not "re-enacting" them.

I have a Paula Zahn-related question. I just watched an episode from earlier this year that I forgot I'd taped, and I noticed for the first time that, although she asks questions of people and people answer, they're never actually shown together. Does she interview people in person, or does someone else do that, they tape it, and then make it seem as if Paula's the one doing it? Because there's no talking over each other; no overlap at all, like most human interactions.

I have noticed that too and I think she has a staffer interview the people and then she sits alone in front of the camera and asks the question so she can redo her reaction to the answers.  So her "emotional" reactions to families and loved ones of the victim ring false.  And it takes away from the story.  She comes across as a Fame Whore.  But that's just my opinion.

Paula Zahn wants ALL EYES ON ME!!!  She wants to look all pretty and perky and perfect on camera, with no distracting PEOPLE in her shot.  I truly would not be surprised if she had a full-length mirror right there next to her that she focuses on.  Yuck.

We've got to be sisters to different parents Brattinella.  I don't like her.  The cadence of her voice drives me crazy too.  I can barely absorb what she's saying because I'm too busy absorbing how she says it. Another thing, what takes the average person 15 seconds to make a statement - takes her twice that amount of time.

I'm getting bored with ID channel.  It's what I get for watching it so much.  I've seen almost every show.  Thank goodness for a new Kenda coming up.  Bored as I might be, I will not watch that worst nightmare show....nope nope nope.

I feel like I have seen all the shows multiple times too. They keep recycling the same stuff ad nauseum.  Yet I still watch ID a lot. Hope springs eternal I guess. The Olympics were a nice reprieve.

I never thought of that, but you just might be correct. It always amazed me how, no matter what tragedy the interviewee is talking about, her reaction was always the same, a slow trance-like nodding, no words, just nodding. I think they might have taped her nodding over and over and replay the nodding throughout the interview. She never looks shocked, surprised, sad, sympathetic, just keeps slowly nodding. It's so strange.

I actually saw her cry a bit during an interview.  Very teary eyes.  I think she is doing the interviewing.

According to my DVR, between ID, OWN, TLC, and now Dateline Extra on MSNBC, the same 25 Dateline shows are recycled on all channels.  Ugh!

I think Paula Z most likely does interview those people, but also probably shoots extra footage so she can get her questioning and responses (the "slow trance-like nodding, no words,"™ so well described by @EllenCam) just right for the final edit. And yep, now that I think of it, she has the exact same reaction, and uses the same tone of voice, no matter which case it is. I do not like to watch her - as I realized again last night. I'm on the road, and that hotel had an assortment of cable channels that included ID. I flipped on the TV early this a.m., didn't have the stomach for news, and found Paula on ID. *That* lasted about five minutes. I'd forgotten just how irritating she is!

Honest to pete when she asks the one question she always asks...."How did it (wait ten seconds while she takes her right index finger and thumb to emphasize her question) feel to know your (fill in the blank relative) was (fill in the blank of type of death - extra points for extremely gruesome) by someone she/he knew? 

And the whole time she pauses through this stunningly stupid question you can hear the grass grow and glaciers melt. 

Apologies to the moderator if this is considered stupidity-shaming but that's exactly what I intended.

I watched a 20/20 last night about 2009 deaths in a sweat lodge, and it included archival footage from a 2007 interview with self-help author James Ray. The reporter asked questions via speaker phone, and the entire thing was filmed. Editors could then insert footage of absolutely anyone asking questions + "reacting" to the answers.

So it's entirely possible that's how On the Case with Paula Zahn is made. Unlike Dateline, where Keith Morrison often talks over the subjects.

Killer Clergy? I guess they didn't like the name Sinister Ministers. And their first episode is the Tracy Burleson/TyonnePalmer/William Fuller story that was done by 3 other ID shows like Scorned: Love Kills, Fatal Vows, and Facing Evil. I'm not against rehashes if they have a purpose, but the spamming for the sake of spamming is ridiculous.

Preach. (Sorry. Couldn't help myself.) I just got home this afternoon from a road trip.  In my hotel room last night, this show was the least unattractive of the available TV shows so I tuned it in, mostly just to have some background noise. I'm glad I had some things to do online, and then a good Kindle book to read, because that show was just a spammy rehash.

Let me just say Butterqueen that if I see the Dateline episode one more time with the lady whose husband had this whole big scam of a military background complete with paintings by Red Skelton (!), VIP tours of super-secret ships and briefcases filled with prescription bottles I will bang my head on the coffee table. 

One other thing about this - and it might have already be mentioned somewhere in this thread (possibly even by Brattinella) but who in the heck poses in front of a fireplace in their wedding night peignoir for a formal picture?  Who does that?  I didn't.  And even if I did do you think I'd give that photo to the Dateline producers to show the whole world?   And another complaint is the "victims" jammy lipstick.  It's clownlike.  It got to the point I wasn't watching the episode as much as I was watching her lipstick move.

If I saw the episode once or twice I probably wouldn't have mentioned it but I swear that episode had more showings than Mousetrap.

Damn! In the mood for a little teevee murder and mayhem and that dreary, slow-moving, imho, Vanishing Women, is on until 2:00 (edt) this afternoon. 

Yesterday I watched the Fear Thy Neighbor, episode titled Night of the Machete. As usual there's the takes-two-to-tango aspect to the dispute but ID did a good job with this one, imho. I can usually tell almost from the start whodunit and whogotit but this had me twisting almost to the end. Even the title was a clue, or not.

It's the one in Pocatello, Idaho about the apartment tenants' noise disputes that snowball. In a very bad way.

Really sad and troubling story on many levels.

ID has a new and improved app and they've added many providers and DirectTv was finally listed. I think TLC also offers a better app.

I felt bad for the guy who got shot.   The assholes downstairs deliberately and willfully provoked him.  They embodied an attitude I've seen a lot in recent years -- "I have a right to make as much noise as I damn well please, screw everybody else if they don't like it."   Courtesy and consideration for others are things of the past.   Those two should have been ashamed to show their faces on TV.

The selection on ID is really awful now.

I watched some lame show the other night called "Betrayed" about an abused wife who turns FBI informant because her husband's bank-robber friends are holed up in her house, then has an affair with her FBI handler.   She knows the guy is married but sleeps with him anyway.   Then when he tells her it's over, that there's no way he's leaving his wife, she announces she's pregnant with his baby.  In a fit of rage he killed her.   It was odd, the show tried to portray her as a hapless but virtuous victim, however if you listen to the comments from some of the actual people who knew her, they paint a picture of a woman who repeatedly left her abusive husband but always came back and was known around town as a "drama queen."  You get the impression she courted danger, for example by repeatedly returning to a dangerous home environment with her children, and then by trying to use the pregnancy to pressure the FBI agent into leaving his wife.   Obviously she didn't deserve what happened to her, but sometimes you have to wonder about the choices people make.

Anyway, who knows what the real story was.   Between the editing and artistic license taken by these shows, very little of what we see qualifies as factual.

I watched another show called "Hell House" about the curse of the Greystone Mansion in Beverly Hills.   It was interesting, but didn't seem to belong on ID.

The show bailed on the "passport" angle by the second show.   Typical ID.

I watched some of the Greystone one, but bailed fairly early.  I'd recorded it thinking it was about Grey Gardens and Jackie's crazy relatives.

The downstairs neighbors were really shits but I think the shot-guy might have been a PTSD sufferer. But maybe I'm just trying to offer excuses for his behavior.

The actual video? He was beyond deranged. For the second time. And the second time was about the dog and when he couldn't get satisfaction there...

That's the couple I had in mind.   The PTSD guy did the right thing at first -- he called the police about the noise.  The police verified it was a justified complaint and told the jerks to turn down the volume.   In retaliation, they damaged his Cadillac.   Then they blasted the sound again.

But they have the nerve to posture as victims.

They pushed him over the edge.   Yes, he had problems.  But they purposely and repeatedly inflamed the situation.
