S02.E10: A Day At The Races

Recommended Posts

No spoilers:

I watched this episode and the previews for the following week concerned me so I googled the show and found out that someone is cyber stalking Gina. They created fake twitter (maybe other social media sites) pretending to be her and also hacked her sister's email. The troll/hacker posted stuff pretending to be Gina that implied she wanted to take down some Eddie McGuire (?). Apparently this cyber attack led to Gina no longer being considered for the show tentatively called "Judge Gina".

Spoilers for the episode:

OMG, the hats are insane!

Lydia--is she just stupid or is she creepy (or both)? Her constant sexual innuendos in her THs are kind of creepy (something about knowing how to pick a stallion). She makes me laugh when she says something stupid (whenever she opens her mouth) then I feel guilt for laughing at someone mentally challenged.

Jackie is also stupid. She thinks she is playing chess…lol. She is no Lisa V….I mean, Bobby Fisher. At least she remembered to cover her con artist grifting ass by saying she didn't use her "psychic" (I talk to angels) powers for betting. Oh yeah, Jackie is psychically connected to Gamble's sister's recently liposuctioned neck fat. Yuck!

Pettifleur's pamphlet or "little book of bitches"…lol. She self-publishes and proudly says she doesn't want it proofread (I hope she has a killer spell check). LOL @ Gamble talking about Omarosa's book. Pettifleur was so petty when she trashed Gamble's sister (saying she needed another face lift).

So much happened this episode: the horse races, pamphlet signing, and the hen party with male strippers and couture dildos….

Well, the proof is in the pudding- Gina has now officially alienated every housewife in the cast (both former and current). When even "Switzerland" Chyka thinks you're an awful person, it's time to take a look in a mirror.

Good on Pettifleur for self-publishing. There's nothing shameful about it and it's always great to see a strong woman of colour succeeding at her goals. I've already ordered a copy of her book to replace the copy I would have bought of Gina's (if she hadn't turned out to be such a rubbish human being).

My respect for Jackie is just through the roof this season. She is such a positive and uplifting person- everywhere that Gina spreads her toxic attitude, Jackie is encouraging others and defending them from vitriol. I'm so glad that her prospects in the US have blossomed (while Gina's have fallen flat lol).

I'm sure there are legal colleagues and foes who are secretly watching this show to see Gina. She is embarrassing herself. I would never want legal representation from someone who is so immature, petty and catty....AND racist. She doesn't think she is racist, but anyone mocking another persons accent is inherently racist. All of us have accents...they are 'different' accents depending on where in the world we happen to be on any given day! If I give her a huge Benefit of the doubt, I'll say she is intolerant, but even that is bad enough.

Intolerance/prejudice/racism usually stem from ignorance....so for a Barrister she is looking mighty ignorant.

I just can't get past the fact that Jackie is a huge fraud.  It's so weird that the others indulge this psychic farce.  It really makes me think that this is the dumbest of housewives cast - certainly, Lydia is the dumbest housewife of the franchise but others are not all that far behind.

The cast abide by Gina's fervant Christianity (as do most people around the world)- how are Jackie's psychic beliefs any less logical or believable than hers?

When in social settings it's conventional to respect other people's spiritual beliefs. Not sure why this is such a foreign concept for some people.

Jackie's personality screams fraud to me. Her abilities, therefore, make me give her the side eye. It's not that people don't believe in psychic abilities, it's that they don't believe in Jackies claims of psychic ability. I think she's as fake as a $3 bill. It's clear from her lack of knowledge about other things, they she's a fake. Coo-woo-churrr for example...

I believe Gina makes an issue of Pette's accent for the same reason. Gina would not insult anyone else with the same accent...she's insulting Pette because she thinks Pette is trying to represent herself as something else. She's calling her out. It's the person she is insulting, not her race.

Pettifleur is a moron. Part of the benefit of a publisher is legal clearance, editing, fact checking, publicity, connections to book stores, and muscle with online sites. They don't stifle your voice. I'm sure that Jo Rowling really felt stifled by her publisher.

Jackie's hat was dumber than dumb just like its owner. Of course I'm annoyed by unbelievably intuitive psychic Jackie not sensing that Gamble wouldn't want strippers at her hen's night despite her explicitly telling Chyka that she didn't want strippers.

Tempest did look much better. I liked that she tried to bury the hatchet with Janet, but of course Janet tries to bring it all up again like an imbecile .

I'm more convinced than ever that Lydia is a sex idiot. I'm sure her husband is a little bit mortified that he married his booty call side piece. I did love her hat at the races. Actually, her entire ensemble was faboo.

Gina is a tree because she's so shady.

I'm annoyed at all the blatant product placement this series is shoving down our throats.

Chyka's firm appears to arrange most of the events we see, and she mentions it every time. At the Lexus marquee she said something like "We decided to mimic the Lexus grill with this ceiling grid full of roses." Instead of Chyka receiving a Bravo paycheck, I'm beginning to think she and her husband are paying Bravo for all of the free advertising. (Sarcasm)

The show also publicized a dress shop, a milliner, several fashion designers, and of course Pettifleur's book. In my experience, we are seeing the women being repeatedly rolled out to pretend they are socializing during product placement.

Interesting comments by Gamble's stepson - he said what many people are probably thinking. (E.g., gold-digger)  Still, she seems relatively harmless, for all her gold-digging ways. However I thought the stripper-phobia storyline was a fail. I don't like strippers either, but I don't have a severe phobia about it. The show was desperately trying to continue the Gamble-as-former-stripper story.

There's something offputting about these women dressed in their Aunt Mame finery groping nearly naked men. It just looks stupid when it's done to death.

Over in the Blood, Sweat and Heels series there are women who self-publish and there is a link to the practical reasons why people do it, especially electronically. I'm pretty sure PF dug into her boyfriend's pockets to publish hard copy. Amazon shows a couple reviews and they are not favorable.

Gina's losing me with her grinning attack dog persona. As an attorney you would think she would understand that it would turn people off, but instead she grimly pushes on each episode. I think she's doing it for screen time, but why would a successful woman do this?

My psychic abilities tell me that Jackie's a brainless fraud. There's no substance there. Same with Lydia.

I got lost with the interpretation of the ceiling décor (which I thought was a great look) vs. the Lexus grill,

Jackie and her chess piece hat was riot, made no sense but funny all the same, poor nitwit.  Lydia wins for most confusing look, the necklace that could have been the grill from a Lexus looked like it weighed as much too!  That hat, it all looked very Inca-ish/tribal to me.  Who was it that said they loved her hat and well it went with the simplicity of her dress, did they not notice her necklace? Oy vey.  Chyka wanted a hat named after her but not a pair of Gina's glittery shoes, hmmmm.

Switch the Bitch, oh wow. That was a mess, PF did not want an editor to help her because no editor would have been interested.  Honestly, if I was to put my name on anything that would be available to the public I would want an expert in said field to help me along the entire way otherwise you are opening the door to major ridicule and missteps with money. (I am also looking at Sonja!).

That Hens Party looked so lame and the dancing at the end was nuts, does anyone there know how to keep a beat while dancing? I had second hand embarrassment for them.  Tempest would look so much better if she would keep her mouth shut.  Why on earth would Janet be all lovey dovey with with Tempest?  I would have been cordial but that was a ton of phony fawning.

I think I have seen enough sequins in that one episode to last me a lifetime.

Because that is exactly what Janet is. A big ole' phony. And she needs to stop wearing sleeveless dresses. She's skinny but has flabby skin covering those bones.

As an editor for more than 30 years, I can think of quite a few reasons that Pettifleur doesn't want a publisher, editor, fact-checker, copy editor, or proofreader.

And I can think of one good reason that Jackie doesn't use her psychic abilities to pick horses. I'm guessing she says she's above using that ability to pick winning lottery numbers, too.

Lydia seems to be an interpreter for the dumb. She thinks really, really hard (for her) about what's going on, and then she tries to put what's going on into words. It's quite a chore for poor Lydia, but it might help some viewers who have her IQ. If there are any.

Did anyone catch her on last week's show, talking about how an event was on the 71th (which she pronounced seventy-firth) floor?! Amazing.

She's quite creepy with her constant innuendo. We get it, Lydia. You think you're really sexy.

And she really ruined what might have been a good hat/dress combo with the albatross around her neck.

I think Lydia's doing her own PR - to her husband. Her sexiness is probably her currency in the relationship. She may be worried about being tossed overboard for a newer model.

Plus, who would want her? I can't see a legitimate publisher pounding on her door with a contract. It's interesting that she has apparently been allowed to keep the copy-cat title, because her book and Omarosa's are available on Amazon.

I for one loved the clothes and hat porn with Chyka.  Those were such cute dresses.  I must say that the woven hats that she first tried on were the best of the episode. And puleeze- Jackie's cochoor?  Those people saw her coming.  Just put a chess pawn on what, tell the dumb lady that it's a queen and then charge her a lot of money.  Again I blame the stylist.  He is tuning his retirement on this dumb social climber.

Speaking of dumb, Lydia trying to verbalize what a bunny is was worth a rewind and watch again.  The smarter the other women get the dumber she looks.

Petti's book, I can't even.  Let's see, Lydia was too dumb to read it, Gamble read it and had specific criticism of it.

Did anyone catch that Gina had figured out where the rumors started?  Gamble's makeup artist also does strippers?  That's interesting and let's hear it for the new Columbo.

I can't stand Gina either.  Mocking accents is something that children do, until their parents tell them to stop it, what's Gina's excuse?

Lydia is dumb, but hey, a good education doesn't make you a nice person, look at Gina.

Goodness gracious, have these women ever met a sequin they didn't feel the need to wear. Gina & Gamble were a little hard on pettifleur at her book party, but she's just so unlikeable it's hard to be too mad at them. Lydia is so overly fake posh it grates a bit, but God her stupidity is endlessly quotable. I loved everything between Gamble and her future stepson, they should have their own show. Did these women seriously try to pretend they'd never seen sex toys before? Yeah, okay sure.

I kept looking for Pettifleur's eyebrow lady at the book launching party, you know, the one who wrote the book! It would have been nice since they are so close! I sure hope she wrote enough words...or at least 15 chapters (isn't that how many a book should have?).

Most of this is producer driven, and I wish they weren't making Gina and Gamble so God awful. The pecking at Pettifluer about the book was ridiculous. I cannot stand Petti, but let her have her moment with her dumb book. I really liked Gina last season. She needs to take it down a notch!

I watched the Gamble's-makeup-artist-also-does-strippers scene TWICE and could not undersand what Gina was saying. I caught the part about the stripper rumors (allegedly) originated with Gamble's makeup artist, but what was she mumbling about "fantasy"? Something else about "in my world". I don't know. And then Gamble's garbled speech didn't help me suss out her replies. Anyone? (Help?)

So it's against Jackie's beliefs to use her psychic abilities for financial gain at the races. Does she have a similar aversion to taking other people's money for psychic readings?

These women just aren't that bright, snarky, funny or interesting. And the accents are grating. So loud, so shrill! I would rather listen to a damn Karsashian talk.

Gina is out to control the show. That's clear. She's the real puppet master, IMO, and can't help but mock those who aren't as smart. The problem is she keeps showing that she is a bitch and it's not looking good on her. She's using poor, dimwitted Gamble and it seems mean to me. She pulled this crap at the party just to keep Gamble off balance and keep the drama going. But Gamble seems to be catching on.

Lydia is a dolt. She should have been eliminated with the awful Andrea last season. Her necklace was horrifying. She isn't hot. She's annoying and her sexual comments come off as if she's a teen boy being naughty. Yuck.

Janet is getting better and Jackie is getting worse. Her inane use of couture is showing her lack of anything interesting. I loved how she was trying to pitch herself for RHOBH. Are you kidding me? With her behavior at this week's events, that won't be happening. They'd be laughing their asses off at her. She's a clown and they're snots. I can see LVP and Kyle laughing already.

Still love Chyka and her amazing husband. I would rather watch her try on clothes and silly hats than anything else. She's fun and light and not mean. These shows need more Chyka and less Gina.

Pettifleur is a pompous twit. She's making a fool of herself and nice Chyka is just letting her have her moment. She's a moron but at least Janet and Chyka are letting her think she's fabulous. It's all they can do.
