Humbugged- this guy is quite distinguished. Here are his credentials- 

McHugh was born in Lawrence, Massachusetts, the son of a Lowell High School teacher and a homemaker, He graduated from Harvard College in 1952 and from Harvard Medical School in 1956. While at Harvard he was "introduced to and ultimately directed away from the Freudian school of psychiatry."

Following medical school, McHugh's education was influenced by George Thorn, the Physician-in-Chief at the Harvard-affiliated Peter Bent Brigham Hospital (now Brigham and Women's Hospital). Thorn was disillusioned with Freudian psychiatry and felt that those who devoted themselves to it became single-minded, failing to grow as doctors. Thorn encouraged McHugh to develop a different career path, suggesting that he enter the field of psychiatry by first studying neurology. At Thorn's recommendation, McHugh was accepted into the neurology and neuropathology residency program at the Massachusetts General Hospital where he studied for three years under Dr. Raymond Adams, the chief of the Neurology Department.

From Massachusetts General, McHugh went to the Institute of Psychiatry in London (where he studied under Sir Aubrey Lewis and was supervised by James Gibbons and Gerald Russell). Following his year in London, McHugh went to the Division of Neuropsychiatry at Walter Reed Army Institute of Research.

After his training, McHugh held various academic and administrative positions: Professor of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medical College (where he founded the Bourne Behavioral Research Laboratory), Clinical Director and Director of Residency Education at the New York Presbyterian Hospital Westchester Division. After reportedly being passed over for the Cornell chair in favor of Robert Michels (physician), he left New York to become Chairman of the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Oregon.

From 1975 till 2001, McHugh was the Henry Phipps Professor of Psychiatry and the director of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Science at the Johns Hopkins University. At the same time, he was psychiatrist-in-chief at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. He is currently University Distinguished Service Professor of Psychiatry at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine.

His own research has focused on the neuroscientific foundations of motivated behaviors, psychiatric genetics, epidemiology, and neuropsychiatry.

In 1992, McHugh announced that he was going to leave Johns Hopkins and accept a position as director and CEO of Friends Hospital in Philadelphia. The Johns Hopkins School of Medicine quickly sought to retain him and was successful in doing so.

 

None of that alters his victim blaming tendencies , pro pedophile leanings ,anti  gay rhetoric ,slavish devotion to mysticism and to the guys who covered up abuse of thousands of children for decades when he tried to shift the blame onto the big Gay bogeyman .And who thought that  sexual abuse was a church matter instead of the police.

Kris is playing the victim. Why didn't she empty the storage unit when she and Bruce divorced? Why now? All she has to do is take what's hers, leave the rest and tell Bruce and the kids that they can do what they want with the leftovers, but the bill for the storage unit is their responsibility. Not like it's a huge expense, probably they spend more on take out salad.

And Kylie moping around in huge sunglasses and that gigantic parka in the house. " Where's my room!!! If I dont get my room, I'm gonna freak out" There's nothing insecure about her at all, she loves the attention she's getting.

I think some things are not right about his story too. Since the Diane Sawyer interview, Bruce has seemed very off to me and I mean in a way not involving his gender. I wondered if he had a physical illness or something because he seemed so different. From what I can understand, he is not having surgery to remove his penis, he mostly likes the feminine dressing aspect of being a female and he doesn't know which sex he is attracted to. He is 65 years old and I think he knows exactly what sex he is attracted to. 

I understand (from the helpful comments of some friends) that having actual surgery to remove/add genitalia along with the hormones can cause some differences in which sex you are attracted to. But if Bruce is only having plastic surgery to his face, does he need to take hormones at all? Is he just interested in calling himself a woman and dressing as a woman rather than anything more drastic?

 

I don't want to offend or make presumptions, but Bruce is insisting on this being a topic of media coverage every week (and I don't understand the tragic type music that always accompanies it). One thing I don't know or like is why this is being treated like Bruce is dying rather than something more positive. I liked Kim fooling around with him in the closet, but he seemed uncomfortable to me there like he really didn't wear or want those clothes. I don't know what to think.

He had quite the wardrobe and those shoes looked pretty well worn. Either he buys used or he wears them quite a bit.  It seemed to me that Kris either downplayed or was totally unaware of just how frequently Bruce dressed as a woman. She talked about 2 or three instances that happened years apart. Unless he was doing most of it during his motivational speech appearances.

I do think Bruce is confusing the kids by insisting that "Bruce" will still be there. No he won't, there will be a person named "?" Will he still want to be called Dad or Bruce when he's dressed in female clothing? While I do think Kris was acting for the camera, her point about mourning Bruce was a good one.

I ran across a scene that I think was on this episode.  It was of Scott and Kourtney shopping in the furniture store.  She was suggesting they work as a team.  First of all, working with a using alcoholic is a losing proposition. It's not going to go well.  She knows him and how things go with using alcoholics.  Maybe it was a good script, but in reality, it wouldn't work even a little bit.  

 

But, what really struck me is Kourtney's voice.  OMG.  I can't even tolerate it for small periods of time.  It's so bad, I would treat it as a huge disability.  No disrespect to those who have true disabilities.  I always thought it was Kim's vocal fry that drove me crazy, but I think Kourtney's has grown by leaps and bounds.  So sad.

I know they film at specific times, but I've never seen Mason or P be bratty or grouchy. I doubt Kourt would film if they were acting out but they seem very mellow and well behaved. And even though I'm sure they have nannies, its clear Kourt and Scott are very hands on.

He told her he had been taking hormones... and her response is but not for how long? WTF? Did she really think he took hormones for a day or two or even s month or two? She doesn't ask any questions? She has 4 kids, I'd think even his admission of cross dressing might have given her a reason to take things slow but no, she marries him in 5 months. But the hormones should have been a huge red flag. Neither Bruce or Kris is being 100% honest, they each have rewritten history to their advantage.

 

I think she just wanted to be married at that point. ESPECIALLY to someone who was famous. She decided to ignore the red flags and pretend that it wasn't a big deal. And now she's acting surprised.

He was kinda of vague about it but when she said " you've probably already made the appointment" he got coy and giddy and said well yeah.

I actually think if he wasn't going to go all the way and remove the penis, they wouldn't have made such a big deal about it, just continued to pretend there was nothing going on. I do find it strange that even if he's been working to this goal, that he's left the family in the dark for so long, basically giving them a few months to adjust. It is a bit selfish of him, but this family isn't anything if not selfish.

I had a flash back to the movie Mahogany, Diana Ross played a model and at one of her shoots Anthony Perkins is a photographer who wants to get a shot of her looking terrified. Kim instead of getting ready to protect her botoxed face, instead positions herself to fly thru the windshield on impact.

He did have some type of surgery recently, when Kourtney was the only one in town and was seen/paparazzi shots of her coming and going. It was said to be just breast though.

I just don't know how graphic Bruce is willing to be in terms of describing  surgeries that he has and will receive. I'm not saying it's out of the realm of possibilities that they would/have discussed surgeries. They are a family that loves to have things done.

Bruce has always said he went to Robert and told him that he would assume responsibility and I think Kris walked out of that marriage with not much more than child support ( not even sure if he paid that) Kourtney had said Kris was the garage sale queen when they were kids, I wonder if she sold off household excess when Robert cut off her credit cards?

Wow. He didn't even pay child support? I know she cheated on him but this does not make him sound like a good guy.

Now they're working on a Kylie can sing storyline. She posts a bit of herself singing and the next episode Kris is talking about her singing lessons. Maybe she can do a duet with Kanye?

Be sure to read the comment by someone claiming to have been on the crew for a storyline that never made it to TV. Very telling. Not surprising, but telling.

I read the comment & what really stood out to me was this quote by Khloe

Anybody remember this? I said that I didn't believe she actually cooked this herself, & I still stand by that.

Not sure about child support. But he must have paid something, perhaps school tuition but he never paid alimony because she married Bruce 5 months after meeting him. I think she didn't get any part of whatever she and Robert accumulated over their marriage, no financial settlement.

And despite Kris's tears over him and remarks on how she regrets the divorce, I don't think he was any prize.

Interesting that she also claims she cooked and cleaned for the family while Bruce and Kris were out shilling their work out tapes or partying. This family has created an entire back story for themselves that has no basis in truth. No wonder people are skeptical of Bruce's transition. He has an "exclusive" deal with E! for his big reveal. And that means $$$$$$$$$
