Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

She at least needs to call this hat a bonnet - just like the way she feminizes sweatshirts by calling them blouses.

Wow, I just thought the very same thing when reading the initial comment, the same word bonnet because of her blouse usage!

I think the camera is reversed. DBD always drives. I don't even know if she has a license.

Because men must do all of the driving, doncha know?

She ALWAYS wears a baseball cap when out.   I wonder why?   Maybe a modesty thing (hiding your hair) or she needs a touch up on her roots.

Modesty? Lol.

Given Hallie Judge did not make sure Kaylee's crown was on properly, I don't think she's that amazing.

Poor Sadie and Sofie, I know the picture quality is poor but those little girls do not look well.

I think they look lovely and they look happy. They are also wearing dresses that fit. I can't imagine they got them all at thrift stores. Someone either made them or bought them and we know it wasn't Jill.

The little girls are wearing t-shirts.

If I didn't know better I might think these pics were edited in a sepia tone for an olden look.

The photo of the girls on the stairs reminds me of some of those depression-era photos of people fleeing the Dust Bowl in Oklahoma.  The girls look sickly in the way a lot of those kids did.  Malnourishment looks the same today as it did then, I guess.  Even the least waifish kid doesn't look all that healthy.

If the dresses were too revealing for oh-so-modest Jill, then pick out dresses with sleeves, ya dolt!  There are plenty of lovely, inexpensive children's dresses that would look far better than sticking a poorly fitting cotton T shirt under a sleeveless dress.  If those are white tee shirts and she didn't use a sepia filter, then they are stained and dingy.

Jill didn't pick out those dresses but I'm sure she picked out the t-shirts. Luckily, at least to my eye, they don't stand out as much as what they usually wear.

I actually think the older girls (Hannah on up) look pretty good. The dresses are very similar in style to Jinger's bridesmaid's dresses. Three of the four younger girls do not (other than Janessa), but it's the T-shirts that are really doing that for me.

If J&D bought all new clothes for their kids and new shoes for the girls, that’s a good chunk of change. That along with the nice venue and food must’ve cost quite a bit. I would imagine they got some help from someone, maybe Jonathan’s parents.

I don't think Jill and Dave paid for the venue or the food and probably not for the children's clothing, either.  They don't pay for stuff, they grift it.  Anything that got paid for, came out of Jonathan's pocket or his parents, IMO.

I agree. I think Jonathan dug especially deep into his pockets.

I thought the meal was soup, salad, a roll, and a plate of olives and pickles. Now, I see an army of steaming crockpots! The wedding cake was beautiful, the decor is fine, and the clothing at least showed thought. I've been to plenty of wedding like this and had a great  time.

I'm feeling happier for Kaylee with every photo. Whoever planned this wedding did a much better job than Jill did with Nurie's. Of course, Jill spent most of Nurie's wedding budget on a fancy new dress and jewelry for the matron of honor (Jill) and some lesser matching new dresses for the older daughters.

Bravo, Kaylee. I hope your guests enjoyed themselves. And you got perfect weather too.

So all of Kaylee's sibs are attendants...doesn't Jonathan have an equally large family to pick from?  No doubt that was by design from BME.

I would bet that DBD and BME paid for little, if anything.  The crooked headpiece is triggering my OCD for symmetry.  Otherwise, some of the pictures were nice, and it was good to see that BME was not Matron of Honor.

Is throwing the groom into the ceiling a thing?  None of the weddings I've been to (the last was in 2019) had that happen.

Who caught the bouquet?  Or did they do that?

I’ve seen it in a lot of wedding pictures but the groom on his back. If you want a “when it goes wrong” example, check Nathan Bates wedding pictures. Why did they even try?

I just pictured Jill riding a horse to go grifting, her long extensions blown off her head lol

Omgosh.  That’s a picture that won’t easily leave my brain.

Speaking of “modesty,” I came across this older picture of Jill on Reddit last night. Note the baby cage behind her. She looks like an 80s porn star.

I got this feeling that Jonathan's family offered to pay for everything provided Jill did not have a hand in the planning ir be MOH.  Jill agreed because she can't resist free.

So do I. It's too nice for Jill and she's not the maid of honor or anything.

Kaylee looks happy, but I wish she had looked in a mirror and straightened out the veil/headpiece.  BME knew it was crooked and I think that was her FU to Kaylee for Kaylee not making her the matron of honor.
The pictures with the little girls breaks my heart.  They are finally wearing dresses that fit (with the obligatory t-shirt), but they look so pale and sickly.

There's a picture on Reddit of Jill doing Kaylee's hair. The hair bump is lopsided, so the crown has to be too because it goes around the bump. Photo evidence shows that Jill is responsible for both the hairstyle and the placement of the headpiece.

I have mixed feelings about Jill's outfit. On the one hand, I actually kind of like it in general, but on the other hand, the blazer is kind of weird for a wedding. She looks more like she is a realtor. I'm guessing that is her way of covering up her arms to be modest.

Jill is covering up for more than modesty. Age and over a dozen pregnancies takes its toll, and Jill is vain.

(Full disclaimer, I wasted way too much time looking for the photographic evidence) Wasn't Kaylee the one the family had "fun" with sticking a rude note on her back and Jill posting for the world to see? Perhaps this was the wedding version.
