Sweet Fellowship: Duggars and Friends (aka the Bates Family and Other Featured Families Thread)

Message added by Scarlett45

If a person/family was never featured on any of the Duggar shows, and is not related to the Duggar family by blood or marriage, they do not need to be discussed here..

We may all agree that David Rodriques is quite unfortunate looking, but let's refrain from comparing human beings to apes, its got way too much of a loaded history- please review the new Inclusion Policy updated May 1, 2022 , which details guidelines around discussing body type, capabilities, physical appearance etc. Additionally, using body size as an insult is not allowed.

Where is Brianna getting money for her performative modesty?

Does she understand under their belief system she is not supposed to work outside the home unless it’s some MLM scam?

And where is she getting the money for her frequent travels, many long distance, including gas, insurance, and vehicle maintenance?

56. This BRAND NEW Forever 21 bolero top over this cute, creamy lace dress is sure to become a teen girls' (or petite lady's) favorite!   Comes with lovely, pearl necklace.

Where was this taken and why is it ok for the girl in the picture to be taking off her clothes? That’s not modest! Just to be clear I have no problem with the picture in fact I would not mind having it in my house. I just can’t see Jill having it in hers. As for the outfit I might wear it but I am 67. That poor girl should not have to wear it.

Sausage and sauerkraut is very Eastern European. And also old school. My mother-in-law is Italian and she would always make it also. Not my favorite, but my husband could probably eat half of that pan.

I wonder why Jill never does anything with beans? Not that I have seen anyway. Very high in protein and very cheap. You can make a million kinds of soups, use it in tacos, so many options that could make a lot of food. Although I think part of their problem is that she has brainwashed them into fasting for the Lord, knowing she doesn’t have much money for food.

My guess is because Hunk doesn’t like beans.

Why did she add the bolero top to it?

That's my question, too.  I'm thinking that the dress is sleeveless or shows too much cleavage or maybe her collar bone so she added that top.  Talk about eye traps!

My eyes went directly to her chest, and I’m an old lady!  Imagine teenage boys seeing it!  Jill is a complete dumbass.

I don’t know why in the world you would put a black T-shirt under that beige monstrosity. Why not white or beige? That makes too much sense. And she never usually sells the T-shirt or tank top underneath. Wow, what a gift!

I guess it’s a cute sundress with some weird long satin looking skirt underneath it. And one of the labels from the outfit look like it was from a used clothing store. Advertising it as new on a separate tag. We see what you’re up to Jill. You are buying Goodwill clothes for probably $2,  and selling them for $35

This girl hasn’t had her makeover yet, but it must be coming soon. It’s funny, once they all get the eyebrows done, and start their eye make up, they look alike. Except Tessie. She is really naturally beautiful and looks different from the others. I guess this is Sadie? It can’t be long until her eyebrows get done, and her hair isn’t so childish. Get out the hot rollers and start teasing! 😠

To my eyes, the bolero top appears to be UNDER the dress, not over it. Anyone else?

After seeing the t shirt/ baby doll/ maxi skirt combo, I was reminded of the outfits my youngest sister would put together when she was about 11 or 12.  She would take clothes my other sister and I had finished with (or were a mistake), make no-sew adjustments to the pieces (cut the top off a dress, shorten or cut off the sleeves of a top) and then work on the most clashing of colours and patterns possible.  She would change into her latest combo after school and then casually stroll into the lounge room and wait for a response.  She even added shoes.  A pair of cork soled platform shoes were a favourite for the added height.

Of course she never ventured outside the house.  Her fashions were for family reactions only.  She would not even go to the mailbox.  We could not even get a photo of her for posterity.  But she made us laugh, while she was having her laugh at what was once “fashionable”.

The Rod daughters are like Jill is dressing them in my sister’s 12 year old dress ups.  But the girls are not in on the joke.

This is Olivia who will be 13 in January.

The makeover is the 14th birthday "tradition", so Olivia has a year left having natural her eyebrows.

My first thought was - is that Olivia?  I know she's growing up but she looks very different in this picture - like she's on step one of Jill's eyebrow makeover.  Either that or she just had a haircut.

My second thought was, there is no way Jill bought this at Forever 21.  It might be that brand, but she would be properly scandalized by some of the clothing in that store.  So where did she get a "brand-new" dress from Forever 21?

(Nothing against Forever 21, I have found some great stuff in there and I am most definitely NOT 21).

I love how Jill assigns herself nicknames and pretends that Hunk actually calls her by those pet names.  Jilly-bean.  Dove.  Etc.  Somehow I can't see Dave doing much more than grunting in her direction when he needs something.  I think Jill likes to put forth her inner fantasy life as factual in the hopes that if she pretends hard enough, it might come true.

Not sure if this has already been talked about. Jill is in full manic mode.

Claims dave bought her a new rug for her birthday. So of course she needed to paint their bedroom furniture white to match.😂

She shows she spray painted the handles black while they were still on the dresser.🙄

In the comments someone asks if she stripped the old finish first. Jill replies "I used quality, creamy white chalk paint. NO, I did not strip it first. I just dusted and cleaned it first. Chalk paint is SO easy to use and VERY forgiving of mistakes."

So, Dave bought her a new rug AND a pedigreed puppy for her birthday?  Meanwhile, she's forcing her girls into thrift store rejects to try to make money.  Hmm....

As for Jill and her furniture refinishing skills, she doesn't have a clue.  Spray painting the handles while they're still on the dresser?  Not sanding or otherwise preparing the surface to accept new paint?  Then she has the nerve to talk about how they treat their furnishings with respect so they last a long time.  No, Jill, you don't.

God also gave her children, and they seem to be at the very bottom of her caring list.  Food and proper clothing would be a start.

The kid bedrooms have not even been painted since they have lived in the barndo and the crappy furniture hasn't been replaced.

When Phillip left for college 2, the boys room had 3 twin beds. Phillip left with his bed and large dresser. Jill promptly redid the boys room and put 18yr old Sam and 16yr old Gabe back in bunk beds and bought a dresser for her stuff. The boys have like what 4 shirts each at most.

Surely all the church ladies who donate clothing to the Rods include both girls’ and boys’ items. Why no male clothing in the Curdled Cream Boutique?

This is an interesting point.

I wonder if the churches do buy/donate much for the males.

The menfolk seem to always be dressed in proper suits, ties, church shoes. Then jeans and same polos shown over and over.

Dave seems to have 2 suits.  2 filthy pairs of pants he wears all the time. Also 2 bowling type shirts and a few "patriotic" shirts and that's it.

I wonder if churches see less need to donate for the menfolk when there are fewer, and they seem appropriately dressed.

So many females, in so many appalling outfits, would appear to be the bigger need.

But Gabe, Sam or Jonathan modeling the baseball/swim tights for sale is a hilarious thought

Dave's tie-dye leggings, a patriotic shirt with food stains on the front, and an  unwashed white undershirt for $35. Who could resist?

I suppose Jill will now need new curtains and bedding to match the painted ivory cream furniture and new rug. She bought a new bedspread and decorative pillows not too long ago, but when did that ever stop her from spending her kids' food and clothing money to try to make herself feel better about her miserable  life?

When I was a kid, we had at least one dog most of the time.  And, each dog took a shine to someone in the house as their special person; the one they followed around and slept with.  It was usually whichever one of us took the pup for walks and played with it the most.  I had a strong attachment to a Chihuahua named Duke when I was in grade school and he was 'my' dog, more or less.  He sat next to me when we watched TV and slept on or under my bed every night.  Other dogs picked other kids as favorites.  The dogs didn't hate my parents or anything, they just always picked a kid as their favorite person.

I am sure Jill would never let the kids get close enough to the dog for it to bond with any of them.  I am sure Mahmo carries the dog around in a carrier and the kids aren't allowed to touch it, let alone play with it or walk it on a leash.  I cannot imagine the meltdown Jill would have if the dog ever showed more affection for one of the kids than for her.  Same reason all her kids have to assert that Mahmo is their best friend.  Jill would tolerate nothing less.

Jill  previously posted that the puppy and Janessa were best buddies. Now I don't know what to believe. Nothing new there where Jill is concerned. 🙄

In other news, she's sent out Save the Date postcards for the ladies retreat in March. And she's roped in the ladies of the new church to help out.  Also of note, Kaylee and Renee are speakers. Jill is not.

I think Snuggles has been shown wandering around the house with the younger Rodlets looking for scraps of food from Lazy Davy's McDonald's bags and snacks Jill forgot to put back in her private refrigerator drawer.

If Snuggles had truly left the scene, Jill would use the moment to make it all about her grief.

Probably so. Dogs do tend to choose “their” human. Our little dachshund rescue is a major mama’s boy (not surprising, since his previous owner was an elderly female). He’s very much attached to me. My 13-year-old stepson tried for the first few weeks to make the dog attach more to him — constantly calling to him and trying to hold onto him. Hubby and I called him out on it and made him knock it off. Dog now avoids him most of the time. Our pit bull mix is much more of the “humans! I love humans! All humans!” type.

Poor dog if it’s being “restrained” and not allowed to just be, forced to worship that narcissistic freak show.

We have a cat. He sleeps every night with my son and hangs out in his room. I think that he is his human, my husband comes second and if no one else is available he MIGHT sit by me. But I don't delude myself into thinking he likes me very much. He was a surrender and his owner was female. Makes me wonder if that is why he isn't that fond of me. Something went down.

My daughter and her pitbull/Lab mix rescue doggo have lived in our house for almost 4 years and that dog simply does not like me.  She's not aggressive at all, but I can count on one hand the number of times she's wagged her tail when I've come into a room - she usually gives me side-eye or ignores me.  Her previous owner was also likely a female.  After this long, I have come to accept that we are just going to co-exist and not be friends which makes me sad, but also makes me want to find whoever owned her first and let them feel my wrath.

As for Jill's dog - I find it weird that she's so adamant that the dog loves her BEST.  Does literally everything have to a contest in that family, and does Jill have to win every single time?  It must be so emotionally exhausting to be related to her.

That Jill finds it necessary to compete with and WIN against her own children every single time is really horrible; those poor kids.  Growing up in that sort of warped environment where one of the adults who is supposed to love and cherish and protect you when you're just a vulnerable kid; instead treats you like competition and insists on winning every contest is abusive, IMO.

Mahmo gets the new clothes, the girls get to fight over the clothes she's done wearing.  Then, the 'winners' get to wear poorly fitting ugly old lady clothes rather than stuff appropriate for their ages and activity.  Mahmo seemingly has dozens of pairs of shoes.  Yet, amongst the younger girls anyway, they seem to have no more than a pair or two of shoes, most of which are too big or inappropriate for the activity they are involved with. Or both.
