Kenz March 2, 2015 Share March 2, 2015 I guess this show isn't for me. In Hot Topics, i disagreed with everyone. I don't think the SNL sketch was funny. I don't see how it made fun of ISIS. It made fun of the Toyota commercial, and I'd rather not be reminded of young people joining Isis, even if it's a comedy sketch. I don't like gross, raunchy humor, so the new trend for females expressing themselves that way does not appeal. I don't like people beating up each other, either in or outside the boxing ring. The interview with Colin Quinn was lame, and finally...the QVC Monday selling stuff at the end is awful. Add that to the fact that the only person I enjoyed listening to was Padma, and I'm wondering why on earth I had the show on today. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/22901-the-view-week-of-030215/#findComment-882613

And then later Padma defers to WG when it comes to comedy. Sigh WG -"see my middle finger." She thinks her raunchy comedy is hilarious. WG and RP - Aerosol cans were banned in 1978 that contained chlorofluorocarbons as the propellant. Modern sprays do not contain known ozone depleting substances. NW - Law and Order is no longer being filmed, they stopped several years ago. Unless she is thinking LaO/SVU. Poor Rosie P has been cast as some sort of explainer/science person when really all anyone needs to do is read something or simply just pay attention. I'll give her a couple points for trying to interject some facts into this show's many lame discussions though. Whoopi linking climate change to hairspray in 2015 is ridiculous. backformore March 3, 2015 Share March 3, 2015 The snl skit didnt bother me at all when i watched snl, but i had the feeling it would bother some people. Even so, i dont feel that it was making fun of ISIS. Like you said, it was poking fun at the Toyota commercial. I was hoping someone on the panel would say that. Unfortunately, they all just agree with whatever whoopi says. That's why they threw it back to her so that she would state her opinion first. I miss RO--she might've said something. Yeah, if you look at the skit in a larger context, it's about a parent sending a child off to something that is possibly dangerous - kind of drawing a parallel between going to war for the US army and going to war with a terrorist group. Looked at that way, it's dark and political. But certainly it's more about the commercial being sentimental, patriotic and trying to get the audience to cry with the dad - then adding a twist. 6 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/22901-the-view-week-of-030215/#findComment-884234
maggiemae March 3, 2015 Share March 3, 2015 I'm beginning to think Whoopi is there more for something else than the paycheck this season. IMO she was definitely threatened by Rosie in the sense RO was creative in what she wanted from the show in the way of guests/stories/fun etc.......something WG just doesn't bring to the show. Plus as many people that didn't "like" Rosie.....as many adored her, imo. Me included. PLUS RO stood up to WG......and really, in retrospect no co-hosts (other than Walters) did stand up against WG. But BW was the boss and most likely why WG would say she was there for the paycheck. And I think her morning nap, lol. I liked WG's little tours around NYC.....and those are long gone. She ruined the show's brand, and along with it her own, and tarnished Babs' image, too. I don't know who would hire her (or her kin) after this. I don't think The View/Spew has been a decent talk show for a long long (years) time - but it was fun to watch and snark about. What I do think Whoopi brought down was the possibility of a truly upgraded and revamped show this season. With Dumb and Dumber (and Dumbest) gone, Babs retired and Geddie shown the door TPTB moved to a new studio (and set) then filled the table with people I actually thought I would be interested in watching - and not in a looking-for-snark kind of way. I do agree that Whoopi has completely succeeded in killing that idea while completely taking over the show and not in a good way at all. Out of all the people (Geddie, Babs, Bitsy, Sherri, Jenny) I would never have guessed that Whoopi would be the one to make this show unwatchable for me. ETA: As far as who would ever hire Whoopi after this - I'd guess there are plenty of people that do not watch this show in the position of hiring Whoopi. I even question whether the people paying her now watch this mess regularly. Cosmocrush March 4, 2015 Share March 4, 2015 (edited) Roger, I think celi cat was referring to the lame-ass transitions, (speaking of tools.../speaking of roasts...) not the topic. But if I'm wrong, as far as topic wording goes, now the show is ripping off The Nightly Show? Either way, it's a fail. By the way, I loved your explanation of the SNL Toyota commercial parody! Spot on as far as I'm concerned. Edited March 4, 2015 by Cosmocrush 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/22901-the-view-week-of-030215/#findComment-887965
maggiemae March 4, 2015 Share March 4, 2015 Have to say I'm a little apprehensive about their discussion about Bibi's speech and also the DOJ report on Ferguson tomorrow. If they bother to go there...... 3 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/22901-the-view-week-of-030215/#findComment-888186
Stacee March 4, 2015 Share March 4, 2015 (edited) I don't watch very often; most times I'm not at home when the show airs and I don't bother to record it. I've been home this past Monday and Tuesday and normally I would tune into Wendy Williams but I think she's on break. I'm at the computer and decided to tune into The View, mainly for background noise while I surf the web. I just went into my whole life story to sort of illustrate that I'm no longer a regular viewer and in a way am coming back with a fresher perspective on the show. Here are my thoughts: Whoopi is ECSTATIC. I mean, this woman is giddy. She seems so happy now, like she's queen of the castle. I'm going to presume that it's because RosieO is no longer there to challenge her, keeping her on her toes. It shows. Has Nicolle always interrupted so much? I was listening more than watching and it seems she was always butting in, and sometimes at the dumbest times. And she doesn't have the best voice, so it can be a little annoying... Also I can't help but wonder if she is just playing dumb or was she locked in some bubble when she worked in Washington. She just seems to be in her own world of "I-have-a-3-yr-old-I'm-A-Republican" Really, she did not know the whole thing with the Chic-Fil-A guy? I mean, it was a HUGE thing not too far ago, made news because the right wing rallied around the owner because people were threatening to boycott and they designated a certain day to support the establishment. I remember my local news reporting the long long long lines at the restaurant chains. I'm finding it hard to believe she's not aware of some things... And no, the Democrats are not obsessed with Hillary, Bill and Monica Lewinsky's dress. I like how she just threw that out there on the show without citation and the other hosts just sat there, mindlessly nodding their heads . Rosie would have challenged that bullshit. •It's 12:22am and I'm still rolling my eyes at Whoopi telling us the info about Benjamin Netanyahu giving a speech and how they didn't want to talk about it now but would be on top of it. Umm, scuse me, but they are not a damn news show, so not sure why they would need to be "on top of it". And since they were not going to talk about it then, why would a viewer wait around for them as opposed to flipping the channel to find out from another news source...TODAY. Just shows Whoopi (or whoever is whispering in her ear) thinks their show is sooo important...when it's not. And finally.... I remember the first couple of weeks when RosieP first joined. I've noticed a remarkable difference now. She seems scared and unsure of herself. She also doesn't look as fresh as she used to. I hope she's not sick or anything. Maybe the show is a mind drainer. Hell, watching can do that to me, I can only imagine what working there would do. That said, she is still my favorite; I really like her. I just don't think this is a good venue for her. Show still sucks, now more than ever. I don't even know if it's snark worthy. Between the dumb talk, horrible interviews and them trying to sell the audience things, there is really nothing to laugh about. It's become...sad.
