Did anybody catch the specials?

It doesn't look to me like Amber has changed a bit. She may not be doing drugs but she's still a short tempered bitch in my opinion.

Gary can't even sit properly anymore. His weight is out of control. Its sad to see somebody so damn young allowing themselves to become so morbidly obese.

He needs to do something about it or he'll be dead in a few years.

Farrah is still a raging aashole. It was funny to see the producers at each of the girl's homes. Its obvious they do not like Farrah. They all seemed happy and comfortable with the other girls but not with Farrah.

Seeing her telling the producers off was crazy. I don't know why they chose to keep dealing with her.

I'd love to see Farrah say a complete sentence without using the word "like" .

The Maci part was boring. The best thing I can say about her is that she doesn't say "like" every other word.

Haven't seen Catelynn and Tyler's show yet. I don't care if I see it or not. After seeing Tyler raise his hand to a small, cowering dog I lost interest in both of them.

I think Tyler's Mr Perfect innocent act is just that....an act. I bet he's a huge asshole behind the scenes.

Look, I am all for adults who enjoy sex, those who enter the adult industry, making sex toys and all, more power to you. I come from the Nina Hartley generation. Porn and all sex-related careers don't phase me one bit. However, I do not believe Farrah is of sound mind, that is the difference. Just as I felt Farrah entering into the restaurant business was a joke, that is how I feel about her porn video. Farrah is mentally off and I would question any career or job she had. She is cuckoo. It is a slap in the face of those actors who do have a legit career doing porn. Farrah will not own up to what she has done- porn! She continues to lie (as usual) about the circumstances about it. It is only coming off as Farrah is above porn actors because she made a "sex tape".

That was interesting - just finished watching the catch up specials. I had no idea they were even coming on so it was kind of a nice lazy Saturday afternoon surprise for me.

 

I missed about half of Catelynn and Tyler's but saw the rest. Man I really don't like him, and I like him less the older he gets. I used to be able to blame it on his age, but that's getting harder to do. I feel like he subtly, and possibly even unintentionally, torments those around him. For example the dog scene already mentioned, or the replay of the scene where he asks Catelynn for her ring back. I assume that happened during Couples Therapy, which I don't watch, but what a jerk-off move when she was already feeling insecure. I get that he thought it was all sweet and romantic to "re-propose" to her, but just, NO - that was so emotionally abusive to take the ring the way they showed it, in my opinion. I also couldn't believe how irate he got over not being able to show videos of Carly. She's biologically yours, but you are no longer her parent! Catelynn seemed to get that mostly, but Tyler didn't. Plus I really doubt Brandon and Teresa were thinking about MTV and all that when they adopted her so I kinda wanted to scream when he said they should've picked a different child if they didn't want Carly in the public eye.

 

Amber looked a lot better and more with it, but her attitude didn't seem to have changed much. I hope she's at least stopped beating on people. I thought it was odd that she wouldn't even watch any of her TM show clips. I guess I kind of understand not wanting to revisit your worst moments, but seems like it could also be motivation to realize you've grown, changed, and keep doing better.  Gary scared me - he looked awful! He is way too young to be seeming winded when he has to get up off the chair or couch. Leah was adorable as always.

 

Maci's seemed fairly uneventful to me. It was cool seeing Bentley again. He's a cute kid and seems pretty well adjusted given the circumstances. He's clearly got a lot of people in his life who love him, so that was good to see.

 

Farrah - and her whole family really - just wow. I'm sorry but WTF is wrong with pretty much all of them? I swear they all seem high to me most of the time. I was glad they let the two uncomfortable friends leave. I had also totally forgotten that Farrah was so inappropriate with Sophia on so many occasions (the boob job consultation, letting her wander off by herself at "Daddy Dereck's grave," and apparently from the sneak peek showing off her sleazy Santa/Elf/whatever that was costume while her daughter tried to make the men leave the room. I fear that the "birds and bees" conversation she plans to have some day may involve showing the kid her sex tape. I'm all for being open with your kids but there are limits and boundaries, including age-appropriateness. I also thought it was pretty messed up how she talked about that guy she seemingly dragged to Couples Therapy, but I'll be interested to see how that whole story plays out.

 

All that said I'm pretty interested to see the new season though. I hope it doesn't end up being harmful for the kids to film again now that they're all likely in school and could be seen by classmates. They mostly seem to like filming and the producers.

I agree with everything you said, especially about the porn. I like watching porn sometimes. My husband's friends tell him he's lucky, their wives ban them from watching.

Farrah is definitely not in her right mind. Nobody in that family is. They are uncomfortable to watch.

Farrah has had so much work done. Seeing her old 16 and Pregnant just brought home how much she's had done. I never thought she was a great beauty but she was attractive in a unique kind of way.

All I remember about Cate and Tyler is April lasted about 10 minutes and then bolted.

I can't help it, I root for Amber. She went to a fancy rehab that she would have never been able to go to without cameras, still got messed up, and then asked for jail to get straight. That's a commitment in my book.

Maci? Whatever. Bentley didn't want to go to Nashville. I'll sit in his car seat. There's really good places to eat there.

My husband just walked through the room. He heard Farrah say "stop" a few times while she packed a suitcase or something. He said,"Stop. Collaborate and listen". I said, "I swear to God if she busts that out? She will be most favorite Teen Mom ever". It didn't happen but it was a fun idea.

I'm gonna guess you have never lived in Iowa? I did. These types roam free. And they are actually held up as "the standard". It's amazing.

I completely agree! The way "Michael" didn't even flinch when watching her naked skeeved me to no end. I was yelling TURN AWAY at the TV. I can't believe they let Sophia watch half of that stuff on tv...something is def wrong with ALL of them. I love how she was commenting on the dates in Texas with that poor guy - she really does think very highly of herself. He just wanted to get the F away from her. 

 

I wish we could rescue poor Sophia. She is going to grow up so warped. I still love my picture of duck lip Farrah. Wish the surgery to correct the lips didn't work and she had to stay that way.

My good friend lives in Austin and works at a well-known locally owned business in south Austin. Several celebs who have homes in Austin have come into the store while he's been working & all were very cordial to employees & any shopper who recognized them, except one "celebrity" named Farrah Abraham. He said Farrah was a bitch and "her lips are terrifying in person" (and this was before the whole "botched" lip thing happened).

Also, one thing that really struck me about Catelynn's special was that Tyler's mom Kim looked SO good. Her hair, face, way she was dressed, weight loss, etc was amazing. Way to go Kim!

As always, April was really classing it up with her Rhianna/Eminem concert t-shirt. /sarcasm

I would so watch a spin-off of April & Butch (I know they're divorced now & she's remarried but a girl can dream....).

I didn't watch Maci's because I have no desire to see any boring thing she does ever again. I might even fast-forward through her segments when I inevitably watch this train wreck series.

I don't really have anything else to say about Amber's special except that unfortunately I agree with those of you who posted it looks like the same old Amber as far as anger, aggression, not taking responsibility, etc. The only difference is she was much more lucid than in the old TM footage where she was clearly super high. I hope I'm wrong, but I really think she's headed down the same path. Also, she needs to never even entertain the possibility of getting back with Gary.

This confuses me.  I don't see how Farrah's family translates to these types roam free in Iowa.  I don't know anyone like that in Iowa....not that I know everyone by any means, but I would never associate Farrah's crazy family as representing Iowans.  Far from it actually--most people I know are really down to earth, nice people.

 

As for Farrah--I was so disappointed to find out they decided to have her on after all.  She is so depressing, and her family is just as bad.  I actually like Farrah more than her mom, so that is scary in itself.  

 

The others seem to be doing okay, but I am not sure any of them needed to return to tv.

I watched Farrah's first because she fascinates me, I say this as a person who was also fascinated by the mostly decomposed sea lion carcass I found on the coast this weekend. I actually stopped to take pictures while everyone else walked ahead, I poked at it with a stick, and wondered for just a second how to haul the skeleton home. Anyway, I have so many questions and comments and hope to discuss them at length here. Here's a few to start with;

When the first video started the way Farrah just held her hand up to Sophia's face to silence her so she could focus on watching herself instead was just pitiful.

How about when she ordered her "friends" to leave? How uncomfortable did they look when she told them they shouldn't even have been there and expecting them just to get up and leave without seeing them to the door or saying goodbye? She is just unrelentingly rude.

At the end when she gets up to hug her father you can clearly see some sort of seam or crease in the butt of her tights (those were not proper pants or even leggings and I think I'm being generous by even calling them tights...pantyhose?) that would clearly indicate she was wearing ass pads though I don't doubt she also has some sort of internal enhancement as well.

Why were they wearing ear pieces?

I don't express myself very well at times. Iowegians are very nice and down to earth. I grew up there and still have a bunch of family there. I guess my point is better stated that I have met families like Farrah's.

Example:My whole softball team was invited to a sleepover and it was pretty weird that only 2 of us went. This was that type of family. It's really odd how delusional and entitled they feel they are. In public, everything seemed fine. But in the house? It was amazing. The house looked like a museum, unless you opened a cabinet/closet/refrigerator/etc. The father and son were totally scared of the mother and daughter. They made each other miserable but "looked"happy. It was very uncomfortably odd, to say the least.

It was very much like Farrah's family. I apologize for attributing this stereotype to just Iowa. I've only witnessed it first hand there so I chose my words based on my experiences. I didn't mean to be offensive but I can see how it could come off that way.

Pakalolo, I mentioned in my original post above that Farrah clearly got butt injections or implants. There is a scene of her cwearing a Santa outfit, and her ass cheeks are showing. She is wearing a thong-like bottom. You can see her ass in all its glory and that is NOiT the tiny ass she used to have. It is grotesque!

Clearly Farrah is all about herself. She is very self-centered to the point of narcissism. When she watched herself in one of the scenes, she said she loves how she looks and how the plastic surgery made her look good. I swear, the girl is in love with herself. Actually, one thing I noticed is that all of her compliments about Sophia were about her appearance. She's called cute, over and over, and some other things I don't remember and certainly am not going to rewatch the show to quote them. But besides some baby talk names like "huggable bubble" or "baby boo", that's all Farrah or her parents say about Sophia. Never that she's smart or creative or active or just anything at all except attractive. 

 

 

Also, and I realize how ridiculous it is to follow that comment up with something about Sophia's appearance, but was it just me or did she seem to be frowning or something a lot of the time? I don't really remember her looking really happy for much of it.

I thought Maci's new boyfriend was okay.  While watching videos at the end, he asked, "Where are her eyebrows?"  and it made me laugh.  And at least she had real friends, unlike Farah, who had to drag her poor old neighbor over for the festivities.

Farah and her family just leave me speechless.  I'm in the Debra-looked-like-shit camp, and I always kind of felt sorry for Michael being in with this bunch, but there's something seriously off about him.  Every time unpleasantness came up (which was often), he'd la-di-dah it away, saying how that's in the past and things are good now.  Only they're obviously not, given the way Farah talks to them, what she's doing to her body, plus Debra's usual out-to-lunch demeanor.  Farah saying she's so stressed at watching the videos that she's going to start her period?  Sheeeesh.

I just caught Amber's show.  I have to say I actually gained an ounce of respect for her.  I didn't watch the prison special, so I had never heard her articulate the extent of her drug use or her reasons for going to prison.  I'm probably just naive, but while I was watching Teen Mom back in the day I had no clue she was on drugs.  She's the only one I'm semi-interested to see this season because I'm curious to see more of her sober.  If she's still crazy on her own, I guess that's that.  

 

I'm not too interested in the rest of them.  Maci fluctuates between boring and self-righteous.  Catelynn and Tyler have all kinds of issues that I doubt they're ever going to fix.  I don't even know what to say about Farrah & co.  Not one person in that family is in touch with reality. It's just bizarre to watch them interact.

So far I only watched Caitlyn and Amber because I dislike the other two the most.

The C&T 16 and pregnant episode was my favorite of the series. MTV is really good because they sucked me back in with the story they crafted. The kids seemed so strong coming from that horrible environment and being mature enough to go through with giving Carly away. My instinct was to turn it off at the halfway point and I wish I had. I like their story the most, but It's so disappointing. Such potential, wasted.

Amber seemed changed to me, she really took a lot of responsibility for her actions. A lot of what she said sounded straight out of therapy, so I wonder how genuine she is. It also seemed to me like a hint towards a relapse in the new season.

...you forgot, also normal (or not normal?) to have your child in the room while discussing the size of your implants, or (as rumored in the tabloids anyway) have your daughter present while you negotiate your "not a porno" contract?  Farrah's so inappropriate it wouldn't even surprise me if she's like "look honey! the mold turned out great!" while showing off her sex toy line. It makes me a little sick that no one seems to jump in to help Sophia, but then I see the rest of the family and I kind of understand why. No boundaries, no sense of what's appropriate or not, no parenting skills. Who would even be able to help?

 

Regarding pea's other post earlier about Sophia's appearance, I used to think she was the most adorable child and now I think she always looks like she's angry, frowning, sometimes even scared, etc. Still cute but she just does not look happy to me. Can't say I blame her, but it's sad to see the change in her demeanor.

Sophia will be a Farrah 2.0 . I will bet money on that. So, with that said, I am already loathing that child. I am sure when Farrah was her age, people thought she was "Oh so cute and articulate".

I cannot help but think Farrah's parents defend her, support her and go along with her shit because it is either that or they can kiss Farrah and Sophia goodbye. Not to say they are normal, they clearly are not, but I think Farrah holds Sophia over their heads. I am remembering someone from TWoP who posted what went down at the Dr. Phil Show when Farrah and company appeared. In between takes, this person overheard Farrah basically threatening her parents to remember what to say or else.

Amber - she still has self-control problems with her anger. Just because someone gets clean and sober that does not mean all the asshole behavior goes away. She could just be an asshole. Addiction just intensifies the behavior.

I've only seen the Farrah one so far. 

 

Man, Debra looks terrible. And the feather in her hair? Is she trying to be young and cool? 

 

Farrah is so in her own little world when it comes to her old videos. Man, she is just a terrible person and she is going to be forever. There is no hope. Sophia is also screwed in this family. Her family loves her, but she will not be well adjusted with crazy grandparents and a narcissist mother. How she would wear that outfit around her daughter (in the preview of the new season) is beyond me. I can't imagine Derick's family love seeing their granddaughter in this way. She is all they have left of their son, but have no involvement in her life, and their granddaughter's mother, while keeping her fed and taken care of, is screwing her up. 

 

I was sooo bummed they didn't show the video of her meeting the guy's parents in Austin. 

 

There is just so much that can be said about how terrible Farrah and her family is, but there just isn't time. I can't imagine ever having to interact with Farrah in person. And those poor "friends" that got dragged over. And the crew who has to deal with her. You can tell the lead producer is only barely able to stand her, even trying to be like a friend because she knows if she doesn't, then they can't film, and a paycheck is a paycheck (this is especially obvious in that other behind the scenes video from the day they have Sophia decorating a gingerbread house).

I'm gonna guess you have never lived in Iowa? I did. These types roam free. And they are actually held up as "the standard". It's amazing.

I'm in Florida now, where the froot loops make sense. Figure that one out! Some of us are nuttier than others.....

 

I see someone already commented on this and you explained... because I was going to give a "say whaaaaaaaat?" to it as well since I have lived in Iowa my whole live and still do (in Des Moines).  I say we blame part of issue on Nebraska/Omaha since Council Bluffs (where Farrah and family is from) is basically a suburb of Omaha ;)   (But I totally love Omaha)

Having been a die-hard fan of this series, and watching these girlses from the very first 16&P episodes, I recorded these four catch up episodes on my DVR.

 

I watched about 10 minutes of Farrah and then turned it off, and I haven't watched the others, and will probably just delete them.

 

I will probably watch the series, but I just could not get into these. It surprises me, but I feel like there aren't anymore questions that I have about them anymore. I feel like I know who these people are and now they just aren't that interesting. Its weird.

Amber could be avoiding triggers. She may not want to see herself wrecked because she'll crave the drugs. She was pretty hooked, she admitted chewing fetynl patches. I'm probably giving her too much credit but its possible.
