Here's a two-part article on what's happened to some Hell's Kitchen winners. Note the lack of "became Executive Chef at a Gordon Ramsey restaurant."

Part One

Part Two

(I can't remember where I learned about this article, so if it was somebody on this forum, I apologize for stealing your thunder. If it was someone somewhere else, I found this on my own and you can't prove otherwise)

For funsies and giggles, I present Ramsay's evolution over the course of the show, as shown in season-by-season highlight reels. You can see his soul slowly getting crushed as pack after pack of lunatics gets paraded in front of him.

*In season 1, Ramsay was a hell of a lot calmer than in any other season.

*Season 2, in which Ramsay finds his volume, certainly TV-induced, though there's still some calmness mixed in. Cut to 6:00 or so to see Ramsay come to the full realization of what he's gotten himself into, courtesy of Tom cooking in a burnt pan.

*Season 3, Ramsay's now realized his lot in life. His volume's largely stabilized; snark has made its way into a lot of his banter.

*Season 4, Ramsay's gotten rather angry now, even telling JP to "get the fuckers out" when referring to dismissing the customers. The random one-off expletives mildly present in Season 3 have gotten much more prominent.

*Season 5, maybe a touch off the Season 4 volume, but Ramsay's gotten more fond of making very detailed dress-downs. Really makes sure it hurts.

*Season 6, Ramsay's just trying to comprehend the sheer depth of insanity he's been confronted with this particular outing. Exasperation is starting to take hold.

*Season 7, there's really not a single decent video, so aside from noting that this was the Nilka season and he had to deal with that, on to...

*Season 8, where I'm noticing Ramsay increasingly just not wanting to deal with people anymore.

*Season 9, exasperation rising.

*Season 10, no highlight video here either, so on to...

*Season 11, where Ramsay has graduated to full-on tantrums and wants to punch things forever in between crying jags (see also: 13:15), so you can guess how Season 10 looked.

A "where are they now" episode would be great. I believe the winners' contract is only for a year though. So I'm sure by now all of them probably either opened their own restaurant or went to work somewhere else.

I'd say very few of the first and mostly the second (except the people who suck so bad they've gone out of the business totally.

This show would never really have an episode like that though, because even bringing back a few ex-winners that one time, they had to pick carefully, and mostly be quiet about where they'd been and what they'd done in the past few years.

At some point they kind of partially learned their lesson and started instead claiming the winners would be "head chefs" (which even still wasn't usually true since more of them wound up with other titles like "Sous Chef" or had a meaningless Head Chef title and simply worked on a line).

Yesterday I saw a former HK contestant on Kitchen Casino. It was Kevin who was in the final two with Dave (who won) in season 6. I swear these constants go from show to show until they win.

I have been working in kitchens for over 20 years. I recently worked with a guy who is the brother to Chris from this season. He told me that Chris gets cut on the 5th episode. But we know that wasn't the case. He also told me that Chris cooks in Vegas. I can't ask him anything else as he has moved on to another job.

I currently work with 2 guys that tried out for Hells Kitchen. Both think very highly of themselves. Guy #1 is a pretty good cook but sometimes his attitude is bad. He said he made it into the interview part of the audtion and then they cut him. Guy #2 is not a good cook. Mistakes everyday, gets angry about stupid stuff, yells and swears at servers, ect... I had to speak to him when he was saying insulting things about women. He would fit in perfectly for Hells Kitchen, but they cut him on the first round. Maybe he was too crazy or unstable for them. These 2 guys are proud of the fact that they tried out for the show. I think it makes them look bad. I wouldn't want to be associated with HK.

I know Hell's Kitchen's been around forever.  I never really got into it during seasons past (I adore all types of shows that involve food).  Don't know much about Gordon Ramsay's personal backstory, you know, married, single, etc.  Did a simple google search and what's the 1st thing that pops up?  Ramsay's cheating scandal.  Ugggh, seriously?  Do NOT tell me he had a long term affair with that insufferable professional mistress person Sarah Symond (sp ?).  Gosh that woman really gets on my nerves.  I remember a few years ago when she was all over daytime TV spouting her crap.  I cannot believe that Ramsay would hook up with her.  Color me mildly shocked.

She seemed to know a LOT about Gordon, and he never sued her for defamation or whatever. That tells me that she's probably telling the truth. If it weren't true, wouldn't you want to stop her from running her mouth?

The article I stumbled upon said Symonds and Ramsay had a 7 year affair? plus he supposedly had affairs with 2 other women.  I bring this up because I guess Symonds was writing a tell-all book (which had a release date) but the book never got published.  Maybe they came to some sort of an "agreement" that Symonds would keep quiet and the book would never see the light of day.  I tried to link the article from the "Daily Mail" but it won't work.

FOX just announced that HK will be back September 10th. That might be too soon for me. This season seems interminable.

Damn, are they fucking STUPID?

I suppose this is the flip side of them canning Kitchen Nightmares.  Normally it would take up the space in the Hell's Kitchen shaped hole.  I'm supposing they're basically doubling up HK temporarily, then going a full year before the following one in Fall 2015 (with more editions of MasterChef Junior taking up the gap eventually)

September 10th is a Wednesday and anyone who watches reality TV watches Survivor on Wednesdays in the fall. I only watch Hell's Kitchen in the summer because there's nothing else on, Trapper John, M.D. is not out on DVD yet, and I'm really fucking bored.

Yeah, I have a few shows like that (HK, Big Brother, Ice Road Truckers). Put them on in the fall, and I'm probably not watching, since there's plenty of other stuff on.

The only thing that would make me watch this show in the fall when so much else is on, is if it were a redemption type episode. Bring back people who almost made it, and at the same time probably deserved to win but didn't.

It's been discussed about all the wasted food on this show, and what happens to it, etc. I learned something interesting when doing a little research on Guy's Grocery Games. ALL of the perishable items are donated to a local food pantry. The canned and non-perishable items stay on the shelves for the next show/season, but it's nice to know that the other stuff goes to a good cause.

If you have Google Earth, you can see the HK filming location, and if you toggle around to the front, you can see the entrance. Not very exciting, however, when you see the parking spaces directly across from the entrance. Now you know the guests must all park somewhere else and a limo brings them around.

There's a Reddit thread in r/hellskitchen where people claimed to have attended the taping of the finale featuring Scott and Joy. This raises all kinds of questions about her bizarre departure a few episodes ago.

Link to comment

Here's the thread: http://www.reddit.com/r/HellsKitchen/comments/2b4ohc/final_challenge_taping_and_something_is_veryoff/

I don't think this passes the smell test. Both the original poster and the poster who verifies it say they weren't there themselves but know people who were. The original poster admits that he's using a sock puppet account but says it's because he's worried about the show producers being able to use his reddit account to find his friends who signed a non-disclosure agreement at the final taping, which: maaaaybe. But the second poster is also a new user with only that one post.

Also, just the logistics of it are ridiculous. If it were true that Joy was in the finals, that means that they went back and retaped the last three episodes -- the one where she quit, last week's where Melanie and Rochelle were eliminated, and the final episode -- and that at least in the "Joy quits" episode, everyone was acting? Unlikely.

Overall, the stakes aren't that high. If Joy had made it to the finals or even won and then the producers found out after the fact that she eats babies or whatever, they wouldn't go through a big charade to make it look like she never got there. Even though what's-her-face who won last season ended up disqualified, it's not as if the producers would be worried that two disqualifications in a row would hurt the credibility of the show. They already know they have no credibility. I also doubt they'd do a fake finale to throw people off and subvert spoilers; no one cares about this show that much.

The Mail has been trying to get some purchase for that story for over a decade now, and has a notorious hard on for Rupert Murdoch, who Ramsay has what, four shows with now?

I have no idea what Gordon Ramsay does or doesn't do in private, but the fact that someone who's peddling the stains on her aging knickers to talk show producers rented a room in his place of employment (which does rent rooms to the general public, since it's a hotel) and then took off sex toy shopping doesn't strike me as credible evidence of anything. And they somehow got her itinerary? Sure.

I don't understand the point of the 'nominations'. It seems like the process is just to eat up 10 minutes of screen time and antagonize the chefs. We all know Ramsay will kick off whoever he pleases, nominated or not.
My biggest irritation is the cheesy opening credit montages. What’s the point? They look stupid, IMHO, and do nothing to add to the show.

Link to comment

I have to agree about the opening credits. To me they are grossly over produced, and work way too hard to try to be both cute and edgy at the same time. They don't add much if anything - at this point I don't remember most of the long gone contestants, in fact I didn't recognize them even before they got cut. As usual, YMMV.

Of course the nominations don't mean anything. Like everything else on HK, it's simply to add more drama and potentially cause animosity between certain chefs that could possibly carry over into future episodes.

I've heard Gordon and Tyra tell contestants that they've given up.

Seriously. Gordon needs to be a guest judge on ANTM. Not sure I'd put Tyra on any of the cooking shows.

Celebrity MasterChef! Or better yet, Modeling Industry MasterChef! Maybe even America's Next Top MasterChef/Model. Hell's Model? Hell's MasterModel?

I'll leave.

Could you imagine? I don't think you'd hear one word out of Gordon because they'd all be bleeped out.

Oh, see, I, on the other hand, would watch that on pay per view for the sight of Ramsay's face while Tyra tries to express her thoughts about the food through made-up words and full-body hand gestures.

I think the sabotage could have happened. If nothing else, his father-in-law has to be really pissed about being kicked off the gravy train, and a lot of people are apparently really angry about the April Bloomfield thing.

I can always count on you to consider the things that I don't. Hahahaha.

I'm wondering how Gordon's relationship with his father-in-law at this point.

I'm still completely onboard for Gordon to be a guest judge on ANTM or PR. "Wow. That dress looks like a dog's dinner. Ah, f**k me."

I've been a fan of Hell's Kitchen for years, now. I decided that I want to have a little fun with it, and I intend to try to build a replica of the set with Legos. The trouble is that I can't quite figure out how everything is laid out, and I'm not sure I want to study all 13 seasons that closely.

So I wondered: Is there someone out there with better spatial reasoning than I have who could find or draw up a sketch of the layout of the building? Not necessarily to-scale but including the dining room, kitchens, back rooms, dorms, patio, and Ramsay's office?

I would be very appreciative if someone could do that for me, and I'd be willing to share photos of the final Lego construction.

This show would be so much more interesting if Khaleesi live-blogged it.

Or if she replaced Gordon Ramsay.

I was getting ready to fry pierogies last night and had just the oil in a skillet - naturally Khaleesi walked in and asked me if I was practicing for HK.

Fun fact about the Mother of Dragons: she loves her eggs fried with the yolk super runny.  She makes a production out of eating them, they go on top of a thin bagel, she crushes up bacon in a Ziploc bag and sprinkles it over the top, then slices the yolk open so it leaks everywhere on the plate.  If there's no actual bacon, she uses the Hormel bacon pieces out of a jar and says:  "I'm never going to win Top Chef like this."
