So very sad to hear about James Garner's passing. He was always so great to watch. Perhaps I'm ghoulish, but when a notable actor passes, one of my first thoughts is, "Ooh! TCM marathon"

As long as it includes "The Great Escape" and "Support Your Local Sheriff" I feel like

Garner's work will be well represented.

Well let me pull up a chair to your ghoulish table. I think the same thing & make sure to check the TCM FB page, so I know the date, times & which movies they will play.

I called every match at Battleground.  I love the Usos, but they should have had the tag belts over a year ago, along with a decent title run.  Because if TPTB are trying to sell the Wyatts, THEY should be champs right now.  & I'm so over Super Cena.  Did you like it?  I thought the AJ/Paige match was pretty decent though Paige annoys me.  Oh & did you see that AJ & CM Punk were married a couple weeks ago?

& my bf & I called Brock Lesnar coming back, especially when Paul Heyman came out on RAW.  I'm still annoyed they let Lesnar break Undertaker's streak (I think Taker should have been allowed to retire undefeated).  But if they let Brock take out Cena, I'll cheer & cheer. LOL

I thought it was predictable. I mean, fatal 4 way for the title. Cena wins. But Heyman's promo on Raw sold SS imo. I wanted the Wyatts to win. They need the belts more, but I see a SS victory. Bray vs Jericho was awesome. Note to Cena: this is how you win and make new talent look great. I love AJ. I just do. She's probably the better of the divas. Naomi vs AJ needs to happen like asap.

CM Punk was rumored to break the streak next year. He quit, so Taker gave it to Lesnar. Taker just had a daughter so he doesn't want to wrestle much. But rumor has it next year Sting VS Taker.

See, now Sting vs. Taker would have been the perfect time to break the streak (if it had to be broken).  I still can't believe Taker is married to, & has a kid with, Michelle McCool.

This makes me giggle because I grew up with Jerry Lawyer. I"m from the Memphis area & went to Junior High & High School with his boys, Brian & Kevin. Brian played football & on Friday"s you could see Jerry, a member of The Hart family, Tatanka, "Macho Man" Randy Savage, the Moondogs, etc at the game as regular people. Then on Saturday morning they would be in character & fighting each other with Kevin as one of the referees on local TV channel. I even worked at the same hospital with Brian's wife, Dana for a couple of years. She went to the same HIgh school & we went to the same nursing school

your welcome,  enjoy !

Responding to something that came up in the Backstage Shenanigans thread -

!! spoiler alert if you've never seen Godfather 3 or The Untouchables!!

Godfather 3 does end on the stairs of the opera, with Mary getting shot while Michael and the Andy Garcia character (and everyone else) watch in horror.

The Untouchables also end with a shoot out on stairs, but this time the stairs of a train station. Andy Garcia is also in this movie, as a cop who ends up trying to stop a runaway baby carriage, on the stairs, in the middle of a mob shoot out, while also aiming his own gun.

Sorry I was the one who got the two movies tangled up. I would love to see Sonny on the stairs holding on to his blood child who was killed because of his mob ties ,Just like the real Michael Corleone. The end of GF3 was What goes around comes around !

Hi all,

I posted this on the Y&R board but not sure how much overlap there is so wanted to check here too.ll

If anyone lives in or around San Diego, I'm looking for some guidance about neighborhoods. I'm going out there in September on vacation and am looking at vacation rentals instead of staying in a hotel. Thoughts on the below? How close/far from downtown? How good/safe?

North Park

College West

Mission Bay

Clairemont

Little Italy

La Playa

Hillcrest

Cortez Hill

East Village

Golden Hill

Not really sure where to put this, but apparantly Vicki Dummer is panicking about View not being ready for it's scheduled season premeire because testing for the new co-hosts went horribly this past week.   But the biggest problem is that allegedly Goldberg and O'Donnell are at each other's throats and the crew hates O'Donnell.

I can understand why the crew hates Rosie. Back in the day, my ex liked her talk show and she would get so nasty on air about her producers.

And I take that with HUGE HEAPING Grain of salt. There were rumors all over the 'net that Whoopi was a no show at Sherri's last episode, which was today...but Whoopi was there. They have a new Executive Producer...that misogynist blowhard Geddie is out...Babs no longer has the run or control of the show...so we'll see what we'll see, because at the end of it, both Whoopi and Rosie are professionals, otherwise they wouldn't have gotten as far as they did in show business.

I'm still trying to process the thought of Robin Williams not being here anymore...I wasn't always a fan of every movie he made, or all his comedic choices but he was certainly one of a kind who made myself, and so many I know and love laugh our butts off more than we didn't. It's such a shame to see, yet again, the demon that is depression claim another lost soul. It's just heartbreaking.

  • Love 5

@CPP83, I had to take time to process Robin Williams death also. I enjoyed many of his performances. He was one of the few comediennes that could make me laugh until I couldn't breathe. His Disney voice work came to mind because The Lion King & Aladdin both came out when my daughter was young.   In recent years, his dramatic roles stood out the most to me.. He could play dark extremely well. His L&O  episode creeped me out.

It is sad how depression, a mental illness, can grab hold of a person & not let go.

If any of you watch Agents of SHIELD, from what I have read and am hearing,  the producers are totally ripping off the Faison/Anna dynamic for Ward/Skye.

I really like Brett Dalton, the guy who plays Ward, and while he is a great actor he is no Anders Hove.  And Chloe Bennet, who plays Skye, is absolutely not Finola Highes.  So I'll be interested to see how they pull this off.

So the Chief of Staff isn't an international terrorist?  The Head of Ontology doesn't have a wife who was in a coma for twenty years?  There isn't an former seriel ki. er giving patients art therapy?  There arent mob shoot-outs and helicopter escapes from the roof?  Nurse don't randomly come and go as they please?

How boring!

J/K  good luck!

That makes me think, maybe my job would be more fun if our CEO changed every 3-4 months, and the current holder of the position was an ex-con with no college education or business acumen . . .

Am I the only one who went out of their way this week to watch a Robin Williams movie?

Instead of going out tonight we watched Aladdin and Mrs. Doubtfire; it's amazing how well movies hold up.  So many movies that I loved as a kid that I've seen later as an adult just don't hold up.

Anyway, it's really sad that a true talent like Robin Williams is gone while the world continues to be plagued by those talentless Ka$htrashians.

  • Love 1

No, @Tiger . I watched Aladdin last night, and plan on watching it again. I've been watching all his appearances on The Daily Show that Jon Stewart put together...and watched the two Happy Days episodes when he first appeared as Mork...

Though I didn't watch everything of his, I grew up watching him and am just so, very, very sad at his death. I'll be watching any movies I can over the weekend.

I always found Robin Williams never seemed to just stop .His jokes could be funny, but he kept it up until it just wasn't funny any more. I loved him in Alladin That was  one time he really made me laugh. Its really sad to think someone felt so bad they ended their lives. I guess they had to much pain inside to think of the pain this caused their loved ones. The young boy young to me. On Rizzoli and Ives , Took his own life and I felt so bad for him. His life was just beginning, I hope Robins family knows this was the way he wanted it .He didn't give them any way to stop him.

You guys! Jason really hath returned!

Last night I served a blonde man in a black tee. Name on the credit card? William Miller. I said oh thanks Mr. William. He smiled and said call me Billy. Of course I said Billy Miller. He said yeah. When he left I slipped and called him Jasus.

My customers think I'm crazy now. Thank God I'm quitting soon to go back to school.

This is so interesting, Grrpants - We live in the DFW area where his family lives, and my daughter in law always served him and his family when he was home on vacation.  She loved it when he came in with that big bunch of people, and she loved him.  She said he was not pretentious at all - just like a nice, sweet, good-looking guy.  She also said he was a great tipper.

What new fall shows are you all going to check out?

I've gotten to see A to Z and black-ish already, and I will definitely be watching both every week, the former because I have a huge tv-crush on Cristin Milioti, and the latter because I was literally rolling on the floor laughing twice during the show.

I've also gotten to see Forever, Bad Judge, Marry Me, Scorpion, Stalker, NCIS: New Orleans, and some comedy on CBS I can't even remember the name of, and thought they all sucked hard.

But I will definitely be checking out Madame Secretary tonight and How to Get Away with Murder on Thursday.

Edited by Tiger

I've seen Forever and, well, I just have a thing for immortals...and better if they have some variation of a British accent (this time, Welsh).  It has me intrigued, at least and I am gonna start DVRing it with next week's episode (I can't guarantee if I'm gonna make it up that late.  So not even an early night owl.)

Also got Gotham tagged.  I'm more of a Marvel girl, but I did love BM in The OC and the idea of him as a young Jim Gordan is interesting as well.

Other than that, can't wait for the returns of Agents of SHIELD, Sleepy Hollow, Castle and Once Upon a Time.

I checked out Red Band Society for Octavia Spencer. The pilot was okay, so I'll give it  a couple more episodes before I decide. I'm giving the McCarthy's a shot because of Laurie Metcalf. How to Get Away with Murder looks interesting ,so I will give it my 3-4 episode evaluation. Gotham is the one I am most looking forward to seeing the most. I've never thought of myself as a big Batman fan (X-men/Wolverine) but I've been giddy over the whole concept. MSquared, I love BM from Southland & was intrigued by him as a young Jim Gordon, too.

I'm happy to hear that Black-ish was funny because I was going to support my fellow minorities & check that one out as well.

I like the premise of Forever but won't watch.  A show on Fox several years back called New Amsterdam had a similar premise. I loved it & they cancelled it.

I'm hoping some of the new comedies pan out for me because right now all I have is Big Bang Theory.  Not new but I'm looking forward to Sleepy Hollow, Grimm, Elementary & The Vikings.

Edited by BestestAuntEver

Yeah, well, don't expect to see any Batman in Gotham, since this is supposed to be, like 20 years before Bats shows up, even though there is Bruce Wayne, which, the young actor has done nothing to impress me in the trailers I've seen. That said, y'all know I'm Batman's Bitch(my avatar is a dead giveaway, heh), but this has Donal Logue, and I'm checking it out just for his take on Bullock.

Other new shows? For me, it's NCIS: New Orleans, because, hello, Scott Bakula.  And since I love Viola Davis, I'll be checking out her show as well.

Everything else I watch can be found on MeTV and Cozi. Yep, that's how much today's shows suck; I'm having fun watching I dream of Jeannie, Bewitched, Perry Mason, Magnum, P.I., Hart to Hart, Starsky & Hutch.

What?

Hart to Hart

You and Nina are likethis. ;)

I'm not a comic fan at all, I'm only mildly familiar with comics in general and I have seen TDK trilogy. I'm checking out Gotham 1) because it looks interesting 2) Ben McKenzie is a cutie pie and 3) my boyfriend's best friend worked on the pilot.

Also interested to check out Viola Davis on Thursday, but I really feel like anything more than two shows is too much of a commitment for me during football season. I just can't keep up.

I hope Black-ish does well. I've been a fan of Anthony Anderson since he was Teddy Brodis on Hangtime.
