@BkWurm1 I don't know if it was you preparing me but I don't mind Howard. Howard is Howard. They really don't pretend he's anything but awful and his awfulness is severely exaggerated so they obviously know exactly what they're doing with the character.

I love love love Penny and Sheldon.

Penny really holds her own against the boys. I love how she fits in with them despite being wildly different. She's nice but doesn't stand for their nonsense at the same time.

Sheldon for all his quirks is hilarious and lives on his own planet so it's hard for me to quibble about him. I can't imagine him dating though. I really just can't right now. He's so super strange.

***

I did get to the episode with adult Missy and it was so strange. I keep expecting her to sass them a la Young Missy but obviously in S1 they had no concept of Young Missy. With every interaction in that ep I just kept missing Young Missy wisecracks.

I think you'll be amused when you get there.  😄

Do you know if it ever happened @BkWurm1?

I'd love to know if she embellished that or not. Although it was a huge disaster for them according to the book I doubt she'd invent it for the story.

Haha kid is so funny. He was disapproving and tutting at their decision to build a house on loan. Doesn't approve of the pioneer love either. You should have heard him whinge during little house on the prairie. He would have stayed in the big woods 😂

You didn't tell me "Conrad" Keith Carradine was Penny's dad!!!!!! I had the best meltdown when I saw him. Even hubs was like "Omg the POTUS you love is Penny's dad"

Does he come back?

Loving Any Farah Fowler and think they are doing a good job of setting things up. I don't see how they can set it up any other way since Sheldon is such a weirdo.

I just wanna hug AFF. She's like the less prickly, more affectionate version of Sheldon.

BBT Question!

  Hide contents

Ok so I read up on some spoilers regarding Amy and Sheldon. Do they really only have sex once a year on her birthday or do they scrap that eventually?

it's scrapped once they get married. Sheldon schedules when they have sex so he doesn't forget about it. Amy tells him not to tell her about it so it seems spontaneous.

Spoiler

Even before they are married, they on occasion apparently are um, "moved" beyond doing it just on her B-day.  Honestly, i'm happy not knowing too much about their sex life.  lol

I was bad and skipped to one episode in the later season (s9) to see how they fared.

I was shocked to see how much Jim Parsons' Sheldon had evolved. I thought the acting was really good because I had just finished S4 so the demeanor of S9 Sheldon really surprised me (in a good way). Anyways up to S6 now.

I'm really enjoying Sheldon/Amy as I went in wondering how on Earth they were going to make these two happen (cuz it ain't Olicity 🤣) but they've executed it pretty well.

I'm curious, with Arrow ending what other current shows are you guys enjoying.

I've been watching All Rise, which is something I'd normally not watch but I enjoy it. I plan to watch Watchmen tonight, and I've been watching New Amsterdam. I'm pretty much done with CW, the only show I will still be watching is Charmed.

I'm still watching the rest of the Arrowverse but, to go beyond that, I'm looking forward to Watchmen and His Dark Materials, The Good Place's final season is strong, and there's always Colbert, The Daily Show, and Last Week Tonight.

His Dark Materials is on my list too, I forgot. I don't know why but this tv season feels light to me. Maybe it's because I'm not watching any other DC show so I have nights with nothing to watch lol.

A lot of my friends love Succession, I think I may check it out.

Nothing, really, with Legends and Young Justice both between seasons.  I am working my way through season two of Black Lightning on Netflix though - I’ve got seven episodes to go.  But I actually haven’t been doing that much tv watching lately to be honest. 😕

The shows I'm watching now are The Good Place and Titans. I tried some new shows but none are really holding my interest so I don't know if I'll continue. Some of my Amazon and Netflix shows are starting up soon that should hold me over until Legends starts.

I’ve been going back and forth about watching Titans.  Sometimes I’ll almost be convinced to watch it, and other times I’ll be like “ahhhh, maybe not.”  Indecisive is my middle name, apparently. 😂

The trailers for it were horrible. They didn't do it justice. It has darker and more adult tone than the Arrowverse shows mostly because of the swearing and occasional nudity.  It does have some serious pacing issues though. Some episodes are really good, others are okay. The Superboy and Krypto episode is probably my favorite episode so far.

Out of the DCUniverse shows, Doom Patrol is my favorite. That one is more like an adult version of Legends.

I dropped Titans after season 1. I only liked Kory and she barely had enough screen time to keep me watching, and I heard her screen time is even less this season. I do love Doom Patrol though, I can't wait for that to come back. I think Doom Patrol is kinda what Legends wanted to be.

In the past few episodes Kory has gotten more to do. Mostly it still feels like they wanted a Nightwing show and had to add the rest of the Titans to get the show picked up.

Disappointing but not surprising. When I watched, it was so hyped and everyone loved it, even though the trailers were just ok. I wanted to love Nightwing, I really did... but the actor who plays him is so boring. The fact that half the show is so dark you can't see shit, didn't help either. I love how bright Doom Patrol is in contrast to most of the other shows.

*Madam Secretary which is probably my perfect show of all time unless they have a brain fart and decide to end this season very badly. I LOVE LOVE LOVE MS. Bess reminds me of Felicity in a vague way but she's allowed to win and has a very nice life.

It's just a freaking awesome show. Totally an AU on real life but I love it. The lead, the main ship, the supporting characters. It's perfect.

Now let's pray I haven't jinxed them to end it in a hell fire.

* Young Sheldon - So funny and cute! I like Sheldon, LOVE Missy and Georgie! Really enjoying it

*The Big Bang Theory - making my way through S7 now

*Fresh Off the Boat - sick of this but watching out of habit because I used to love it so much once

*All the versions of the various Bake Offs - I understand what it's like to cry about pastry and feel disheartened that your cake is 1mm lower than usual. LOVE these shows! All the versions of them.

*Figure Skating - Not a TV program but there is a competition on every week during the season and you can watch the livestreams. The most stressful thing to watch ever. Haha it really puts my quibbles with Arrow into perspective.

I'm watching the new Nancy Drew show on the CW and at least until Arrow is done, will keep watching the Arrowverse shows.  Probably will keep watching Legends no matter what happens but the others are more up in the air.  I've only watched the pilot of Batwoman so far and I'll catch up before I make a decision on that.  Likely I'll watch at least until after Crisis.

Of the new Network shows, I'm really enjoying Stumptown.  Fast paced, fun, action filled and great actors.

I'm also watching Prodigal Son and Evil.  Both are really interesting.  And bonus, Lane from Gilmore Girls plays the ME in Prodigal Son.  I'm probably inappropriately shipping her with the main character but she's way more interesting than the detective that is probably supposed to be the love interest.  The show is about a profiler who is the son of a serial killer and he's consulting with his father and the family dynamic with his mother and sister are great.  I was getting Moira like vibes for a while there and the dad is charismatic in a too buggy eyed way.

Evil is unsettling.  In a good way.  They juxtapose all the creepy stuff with the female lead's home life with her four young daughters.  And the creepy stuff comes home. Oh and they have Michael Emerson and they really know how to use him well.   The cases hug that line of plausible deniable that lets you not assume anything.  Could end up a great show or fizzle out.

The new season of Poldark is out.  I've skipped around in this series to avoid the season I know would have maddened me and now it's in a sweet spot to enjoy.

Of sitcoms, I'm enjoying the new Mixed-ish and Mom gets better every year it's on.  Im watching Young Sheldon and Black-ish and The Good Place and Fresh off the Boat still as well.  Honestly, I think I'm still watching FotB because Mellow identifies with it and it adds an extra layer of amusement to imagine what she's seeing, lol.

Oddly, a show I really was board with last year when I tried watching has gotten interesting.   Magnum PI has leaned into making Higgins a co lead (and partner in his PI biz)  and now the annoying testosterone fueled show feels more welcoming.  And there might be some chemistry there.  So I'm giving it another chance.  Not a deep show but I've been entertained this year.

So yeah, I've been juggling a LOT of television lately. I'm going to fall so behind, lol.

Really enjoy this show too.  I endorse what Mellow says about it but also it's like watching governmental competence porn.  Lol.

I've been watching Titans and Batwoman to make up for Arrow.  Nothing else has really caught my interest.   With the Good Place and HtGAWM ending this year and legends not airing till next I think I'll be watching far less TV.   Definitely not tuning back in to The Magicians when the new season starts.

Yeah, I'm surprised that I actually like it even though it had "bad edgy reboot of classic older stories for the sake of being edgy" written all over it initially with the promos. The lead's pretty good, the group's interactions are entertaining, and I actually want to find out the answers to the questions they set up.

My problem is I watch WAY too much TV lol.

Same. We got rid of our cable this summer and replaced it with a Roku stick and signed up for Hulu+HBO. Already had Netflix and Amazon Prime. I was stoked until I learned that the CW doesn't do live streaming (or, if it does, they don't do it in Nashville). Let's see, at last count I watch...8 CW shows, 7 of which currently airing! More than any other network, including the streaming services. Naturally. I had to buy an antenna to compensate like the old days.  To be fair to antenna makers, it's affordable, and gets awesome reception unless it's raining so at least they've upped their game and I don't have to attach an entire role of aluminum foil like the pre-cable days of my childhood.

hehe I get by the too much TV thing by loading stuff on the ipad and carrying it around with me when I cook, garden, do laundry, walk the dog.

MS, YS and Figure Skating are probably the only things I actually watch with proper focus.

Ooh forgot to add I watch The Resident too! Love that show as well. It knows what it is and embraces it! We got the weirdest Halloween episode this week. And they gave one of their ships the cutest road trip plot.

As we're heading towards the end of Arrow I'm also heading towards the end of my jewelry stint. About to buy a house for my kid so no more gems in the near future. Here is my second last bargain. One more and then I'm finished for a long time.

Pink Burmese spinel I managed to nab at a bargain price thanks to finding a source directly from India.

Haha how did you guess? 🤪😜

We flutzed around and lost the house down the street. We were so upset.

There is a house we really want one street down. So basically it's the house that is at the back of our neighbor from across the road. It's going to go to auction though which is mega stressful.

I have a vague understanding of how Australian real estate works but I've gathered there are a few extra factors that make it more stressful.  So I wish you well.

And in the long run, I  bet you will have better luck getting the kidlet to live in a house a block over or so than in a house just down the street.  Close is nice but too close and they might reconsider if that's a good idea, lol.  I mean, not now.  Now he probably wants you all to live together FOREVER.  😄

Thanks hun! We found another house we like!!! In a suburb that's 10 min away by car. Sweeping lawns, swimming pool, massive house etc. Just no train line!  I basically swap a sh$t shack for a beautiful home but have to forgo a train line. I'm not sure how much a gardener would charge to mow the new house we like though so we're stepping out of all kinds of comfort zone (thinking of begging my current gardeners to still help us. You do not cross your gardener in Sydney!!! They can decide to kick you off their lawn list). The place is huge!

The houses are auctioning on the same day so I've got to bid at one auction and then if I lose that shuffle to the next auction! Crazy!!!

I did a mad thing and looked up BBT fanfic. Did you know there are approximately 800 Penny/Sheldon fics but only 300 Shamy fics?

I speed read through one and although it was extremely well written it was so OOC. I'm not sure why but I found it very jarring to find Sheldon OOC whereas I'm pretty ok with it in Arrow fics.

Anyways no BBT fanfic for me. I don't think it lends itself to easy fanfic writing so most of the stuff I scanned was just very out of place when compared with the show despite being well written. I can't explain it! I'm so ok with Arrow AUs etc but it's super weird for BBT!

It’s been since the night of the season 7 final that I’ve posted. I was in the state of shock that night because I found out that I had cancer in multiple locations earlier in the day. 2 1/2 weeks later I began chemo and went on the worst journey I have ever been on. Ironically this nightmare ended on the day of the season 8 premiere. 15 minutes after my 1st treatment I had my first bad side effect.  I was no longer allowed to drive or watch any electronics.  I have not watched any TV or used a computer since that day. (I am dictating this to my friend.) I continued to have every kind of terrible side effect possible. I also cratered 4 times which resulted in the infusion of 9 units of blood and many shots to try and boost my blood. The pain was not almost unbearable it was unbearable. For almost the entire 5 months I had 2 days without pain and 5 days of writhing pain each week.  I went from chemo 1 day per week with a 3 hour round trip to going to the clinic 3-4 days per week. I wouldn’t wish what I went through on my worst enemy.

I won’t be done with all my other treatments until March or April.

I do love not having any hair, I didn’t realize how much time I spent on it and my skin is the softest it has ever been.  I have lost 27% of my body weight and look like a skeleton.

So why am I writing to you now on the last day of Breast Cancer Awareness Month? I have met some wonderful people on this journey. Some have died but most have lived. If there is any way you can send out positive vibes, prayers or whatever you want to call them into the universe I would appreciate it. It really makes a difference. The clinic I go to is the most upbeat positive place I have ever been to and the happiness and love that exudes from almost every one of the patients and medical personnel is awesome.

I hope and plan on beating this. The doctors believe all my cancer is gone and I’m having an MRI next week to find out if this is true. I also can’t wait to see S8 although it will probably be well after it’s over.

@BunsenBurner, sending you all the best vibes. I don't know what doctors in the States are regarding this, but here they're extremely cautious about giving you a positive conclusion without being damn well sure of it. So what they said has to be a good sign.

I haven't started season 8 and if you're game, let's make a date to watch it together once you're able to.
