So, Carrie came and left, her last day, was on February 12, never having had scenes with John, Marlena, Billie, Kate,Eric, Kayla, Steve, Brady and Will. Yet, she had scenes with Rafe, who is insignificant, in her past.   This is why I dislike Ron, he focuses on history that fits his agenda. Carrie has a rich history on the show and her short return should have highlighted that, via her relationships, on the show. What a waste!

So true.  I was hoping she'd stick around.  I like her.

Doug did say a few sensible things to JJ. Especially about the waiting to get married part, if at all. JJ and Lani will end up codependent, or more so. Once he finds out about her little lie or leaving out one important detail, he will leave. Maybe the guilt she carries will make her come clean.

Where is there a nice lemon cream pie for Julie? Shut it, lady.  Stop kicking the Gavin horse. She has not yet been found guilty and surely someone at the restaurant could have whipped out a phone and recorded Trask and her comments.

Eruc, you were rude to disrupt Jennifer’s dinner date. The doctor was the only adult in attendance.

Maybe Salem is experiencing a heatwave and opened the outdoor pool. Nah, wouldn’t be til late May.  Abigail’s dress looked more like a Christmas party velvet dress.

One would think that the harassment in public of a suspect by the DA would be grounds for an ethics complaint.

If you're willing to yell at a suspect in public, Trask, you're already discussing the case in public.

Not only that, but letting another potential suspect/witness (Stefan) buy you drinks HAS to be a conflict of interest. She deserves to lose her job and to be disbarred.

Man oh man, but is Julie obnoxious!  Yes, we get it, you'll never forgive Gabi for killing her Nicky, that sweet, adorably homophobic, dangerously psychotic scamp or that Gabi got out on a technicality after only spending a year in jail, but to sit there and gloat, knowing that a little girl might lose her mother is pretty sick.  And once again, it's not as if Gabi walks around Horton Square laughing about how she killed Nick--she is genuinely guilt-ridden and has improved her life since getting sprung--she is a productive member of society.  I do truly hope our theories are right and that Abby killed Andre--the look on Julie's face will be epic.

i want to like julie, her being one of the originals and i love living in the past. but why do they have to make her so unlikeable, so horrible? has she always been this big a busy-body budinsky, beyond annoying unforgiving stubborn , nasty woman? nick was a horrible person. i am starting to hate julie and her vindictiveness. what a bitch.

what?! no mention of jennifer's frankenstein monster scalp? wtf show? i think they hate her character. i'm not too fond of the actress and her beliefs so i admit i have to smirk when i see her character looking all frumpy, gray, whatever , but that hairstyle had to be the worst one yet. didn't look too bad from the one side but when she turned her head it looked like she had a 6 inch long band of huge stitches in her head. hee hee.

Nobody got Alice's ring before JJ?

It's February, Abigail, you're going to take Thomas to the park in a swim suit?

I think either Doug or JJ  said it was "one of" Alice's rings.

I heard "snow" suit, but maybe that's just because it's what I expected to hear, since it's February.

She's gone already? Sheesh. Could have at least showed her saying goodbye to her parents.  Have they even been released? Charges dropped?

I would have loved Carrie to have scenes with John and Marlena, but I'll give Ron a pass *this* time, only because John's a bit preoccupied these days, and who know what crypt Carrie might have found herself in if she'd paid John a visit.

Carrie could have been the one to help John, during this crisis, like she did as a young girl when she and Benji  were kidnapped by Stefano. We could have even had some flashbacks of that story.   Carrie was the one who gave John the courage to soldier on , after Marlena died in that plane crash.  She was always his rock.  I don't know why the show ignores John's past as Roman.

I think Carrie should have had a longer stint since she has so many ties to the show, but alas... the people in charge seem to think if Sami isn't there then what is the point of having Carrie be on the show (my theory only).

It's nice having Billie back, but I'm curious if she will be having any scenes with other characters or if she will be escorted out of town before making the rounds.

Decent reveal there at the end. But...did Abigail go buy a coat just like Gabi's, or has the original coat been missing all this time? You'd think Gabi might tell the cops if it was.

I really hope Marci can stretch herself in this storyline. I'm not a Mansi fan...but I kind of wish it were her getting to play this out, if only because I finally think Abigail is going to get publicly dragged, and it's her Abigail I want to see losing it and getting the comeuppance she so richly deserves.

Plus, I doubt whether Marci can play the entitled psycho angle to the hilt.

The ISA guy did not look or sound like an ISA guy. Bad casting choice.

The last couple episodes were kinda boring, as were today's scenes with Stefan and the DA, but the cliffhanger endings made up for it.  Really, it's nice to have Friday cliffhangers again.

I guess we still don't know if that is "real" Abigail, or a split-personality version.  She did look pretty spacey / zombie-like when she woke up from her dream.  And of course Stefan is the one to find her.  I thought he was going back to the DA's place.

I despised KM's version of Abigail, but will grudgingly admit she did do psycho well.  I guess we'll see if MM can pull it off as well.

Hmm... so Steve is close to the truth. Hopefully not also close to death. Seriously, they better not be killing Steve off.  There has to be a twist we don't know about. I mean it's one thing for John for whatever reason to be following orders, but now Billie too, who dated Steve(!!!), would also be in on the murder. Maybe whatever she gave John was an antidote.

We all know the baby daddy secret will come out sooner or later. And likely sooner.  But will it be before the baby's birth or after? My vote is for during May sweeps.

Seeing JJ and Gabi together, I could be very happy if they got back together. They didn't really have much of a chance under the previous writing regime, but I think they make a cute couple. And I could also be on board with Eli and Lani. And with the baby situation, I can see it turning out that way. But also, it would be interesting if after the baby daddy news is revealed, both couples managed to survive. Well at least survive that scandal.

I'm really enjoying the show these days. There's mystery. And romance. And family. And no one is stuck in a bubble. But also no one is hogging all the screen time. Especially not a new character no one cares about (i.e. Deimos, Summer, etc.) I'd say the show's the best it's been since I started watching again in summer 2014.

For those of you who have been watching regularly over the years, what do you think of Ron's storylines?

He used to be a regular on All My Children, where he was a cop.

I hate all of these "What are you doing here?" confrontations, as if people don't have a right to be wherever they are.

"Why don't you move on me?" Woah, dang!

I hope Drake has fully healed from his last injury, if he's doing stunts like that.

Wait till Valerie finds out that JJ and Lani are engaged.

I can't decide if this show is awful, or just awfully boring.  I haven't really watched much at all since last fall, maybe even before that.  Tuned in to see the S&K scenes on Wednesday, which were sweet and decently acted, but more or less content free.  The dialogue is completely generic and still manages to run afoul of their history at least half of the time.  And John's actions make me sick to my stomach.  I'm sick of the DAYS' gaslighting and telling us people love and care for each other, while showing them hurting and abusing each other.

Am I remembering history wrong?  I know that Gabi didn't say anything at the time, but wasn't it Sami and Kate who pushed Nick into the river?  Gabi only hit him with the rock to save herself, but he wasn't dead?

That was the first time we thought that Nick died. He pretended to be dead to and then came back after trying to haunt the three of them. Gabi ended up shooting him in the middle of Horton Square.

Lani, grow a spine or a conscience and be honest with JJ that he is not the baby daddy. Don't lead him along. Probably not the best idea to accept a marriage proposal from a man who has had some tough emotional times lately and hopefully is still in counselling. Adding lies is not going to make it better. Eli has no business keeping your dirty little secret. Seriously, what do you and JJ have to offer each other if there wasn't a kid involved - that wasn't his.

Stefan and the DA were a bit entertaining.

Where are Paul and Will? Nice of Billie to show up and take out the ISA agent. Was John injecting the poison antidote?

A Gabigail? She did her makeup well. Abs has a new mental health issue? Was it this all along? What happened to her just setting her ex on fire? Stefan has a big secret to keep now.

Eli and Gabi had one sip of champagne and left. Is JJ supposed to drink up the whole bottle himself?

Gabigail is hilarious.  I don't think the actress has the chops to pull it off, but I am in for the ride to see if she does.

So Stefan will clearly see this as his way to have his way with #Gabigail.

I don't care, at this point #Gabigail, and John and Billie drugging Steve and holding Will and Paul hostage, are all that keep me interested.  Watching ABIGAIL is coma-inducing.

Well, Julie said that as soon as they find the coat and the urn lid then they'd have everything they need to get Gabi, so I guess the coat is/was missing.

Because they can't keep track of all of John's backstories that they have retconned a million times?

Does CC want to return to the show full time as Carrie?  I know AS doesn't.  She'll visit as Sami, but that's it.

They did the same thing with Sami's return.  Sami should have had a lot more scenes with Lucas and Kate.  Other people to is fine, but Sami/Will/Lucas/Kate had decades of story together which sometimes is referenced, and other times is completely ignored.

I don't think that she wants to come back full time. She is a mother of 3 young daughters.

I hated that Sami's tortured history with both Lucas and  Kate were not shown and what Will meant to all three. Instead, Sami like Carrie had too much scenes with Rafe.

All of John's ret cons include his parentage.  All of the things he did in Salem is still canon.  Being Carrie's father and raising Sami and Eric still canon.  He definitely should of had at least one scene with Carrie.

I remember when John was in jail and Carrie came back as a lawyer and she was going on and on about how to get him out/ the injustice, etc.  I remember John giving a "beamingly proud father" look to Marlena as if to say "My daughter came back to help me"!!!!

Wait, John is Carrie's dad? I thought Roman was. I can't keep track of the John/Roman thing, man!

John was first introduced, in the pawn storyline,as an amnesiac  with his face bandaged in the hospital. Marlena was drawn to him inexplicably. She was asked to help this patient. Roman was dead at the time after being killed by Stefano. After months of mystery, it was revealed that John Black was actually Roman Brady with an altered face, courtesy of Stefano. Marlena found a box with pictures of Roman, before and after.  Months later, Marlena was presumed dead in a plane crash, after being kidnapped, by Orpheus.

John as Roman, raised Carrie and the twins by himself, for years. Then, Marlena came back from the dead. Due to Wayne, coming back as Roman, it was revealed that John was in fact an impostor implanted with Roman's memories. The real Roman was being held captive by Stefano. If Wayne had never come back. Drake would have remained as Roman. His Roman used to have flashbacks as Wayne's Roman.

This is a brief summary. My post would be too long, if I wrote everything that happened during the time John was first seen in the hospital to the DNA test that proved that he was not Roman.

John should have remained as Roman. It was a mistake to have done that, IMO.

Wayne was always Roman to me even though I didn't see him until after he came back. I saw Drake playing Roman for years and he did well in the role, but I just liked Wayne better as Roman. The sad thing was that WN left the show and the show started to write stupid storylines to explain John's past which never played well into Drake's abilities. I never bought him as a smart, superspy, ISA agent, art thief, crowned prince, priest, fabulously wealthy or most importantly a Dimera. All stupid storyline which got dumber with each new retcon.

I buy John as someone who loves Marlena, his kids and plodding along a private detective. Anything else never made any sense

Sorry, didn't mean to confuse you.  Yes, Roman is Carrie's biological father.  Both John and Roman have raised Carrie throughout her adolescence.  John still considers Carrie his daughter despite not being blood related.  Belle and Carrie are not blood related but because of John and Marlena they were raised and do consider each other siblings.

That is one thing I have always praised John, Marlena, and Roman for is that all their various children are considered siblings; step, adopted, raised, etc.

I loved Wayne as well. He was the better actor. I loved the original Roman/Marlena  romance with Roman determined, to protect her from the serial killer and Marlena not taking the threat seriously. Dena tried to do that with Sami and Rafe in the safe house. It didn't fit Sami's characterization. I loved Roman's disguises. He even dressed up as a killer to scare Marlena..She was really stubborn, when it came to her independence and dedication to her patients.

I also loved Drake's Roman. He had great chemistry with everybody. I knew Drake's Roman first as a kid. Thanks to YouTube, I was able to rewatch Wayne's time on the show, as Roman.

I don't necessarily disagree here.

The thing is, though, while Wayne originated the role (and was the better actor), it just seemed a colossal waste to make him Roman Brady again since Northrop once again took off.  It just seemed a waste of fucking up Drake's character for a short-term flash. Add the fact that the show again had Northrop come back as some heretofore unknown evil spouse of Marlena's, and it was a mess.

From strictly a show standpoint, if Northrop wasn't going to stick around, I would have made him someone, good or bad, as someone with Roman's "old" face, to mess with his head or something.

I learned to appreciate John as John (and his romance with Isabella and his ongoing connection to the Bradys helped), but it was clear there was no real plan for the character once Hogestyn was stripped of the Roman character.

And, for the record, as depressing as it now is, while Josh Taylor has now played the role longer than both Northrop and Hogestyn combined, I have never "bought" his version of Roman and still see him as Chris Kositchek. Extra oogy since he was involved with [Catherine Mary Stewart's version of] Kayla.

Oh I agree. Especially since I think the role that suited Drake best was when he thought that he was Roman. It made all his connections make sense since he did have chemistry with all of Roman's family. While I love him with Isabella, after she died, they just had no idea what to do with him and started throwing everything at him hoping that it was stick and for the most part it failed for me.

When Wayne came back to play Alex, he and DH still were magic together and before they revealed his abusive past, I wanted them together. It didn't hurt that they used old clips of them as Roman and Marlena.

Finally JT was never really Roman to me and he never had anything close to romantic chemistry that DH had with Drake and Wayne, I did believe him as Sami's father as she was the only child of his that remained in Salem while Roman's other children were on and off the show sporadically.

And what was interesting (to me) is that Carrie always seemed very loyal to John/fake Roman upon "real" Roman's return. Interesting because she was old enough to remember the real Roman, and yet I think she took the whole thing hardest. I recall how Tracy Middendorf's Carrie was ambivalent for a time about Isabella's pregnancy (as that was John's first [at the time] biological child, and Carrie was sort of upset/jealous). But her bond with Isabella remained and she softened as the pregnancy went on, etc.

In real time, the twins only ever knew John as Roman. SORASing them a year after the John/Roman switch threw that out of whack. But Sami and Eric were a mere 2 or so when Marlena vanished and even younger when real Roman "died". Hence their loyalty to "real" Roman - while fine for the revised timeline - always rang really false to me.

If Days wasn't so campy even starting then, I think a story of John fighting for visitation could have been well done. Imagine the Bradys being torn. (Kim, Bo, and Kayla also considered John a brother, and Shawn and Caroline also considered him their son. I remember when Shawn, Sr. confronted John as such when John was trying to avoid them.) And there were no "bad guys". Just bad circumstances.

I liked when WN and DH returned, and I got Roman/Marlena and John/Isabella as couples.  Once the actress who played Isabella left, and WN decided to leave again, I think they should have switched Roman and John again.  WN had Roman's face and some of his memories, but it turned out John was actually the real Roman.  By that point, Sami already had screwed up relationships with Marlena and John because of their affair, and all her schemes.  If JT wanted to return to the show, I don't know why they didn't just bring him back as Chris.

I'm not sure what to think about this SL with Gabi and Slappy.  On OLTL, the original Vicky/Nicky SL was pretty good, but it slowly devolved into Vicky getting a get out of jail free card since the writers would have Nicky, or other alters come out to do horrible criminal things so Vicky wasn't responsible for anything, and then her alters would be reintegrated until the next time the writers wanted to play the multiples card.  They did the same thing with Jess/Tess/Wes and Todd.

The actor playing Eli was drunk when he got the dumb tattoo on his chest, right? There can’t be any other reason. The GabbyAbby was interesting but I was spoiled before I watched it. It’s a favorite plot line for RC. He’s done it over & over & over. It will be interesting how it plays out on Days. They taped this 6 months ago and it didn’t get out. Pretty impressive. I still hate the lag time between tape & air so I hope if the storyline bombs or drags out they can abort it if possible.

I always felt that the show never played that beat with Carrie.  She mourned Roman deeply when he died.  When John was revealed to be Roman.  She  was very confused and  had a hard time accepting him,  She rejected him and refused to call him her dad. When she finally called him dad, it was a big deal.  Children bond with the people that love and nurture them,  Then, she lost Marlena and then Anna was an absent mom. When Diana left town, she lost her as a maternal figure.  Isabella later died.   I always felt that Carrie should have been more devastated with losing John.  Carrie constantly losing a parental figure should have been a part of her characterization.

As far as I know, they fired her and Brandon Beemer who plays her husband, Shawn Brady.  When she/they were brought back full time she was put in this IMO awful storyline where she was torn between her husband and Victor's son, Philip, who was being played by John Paul Lavosier.  What a waste.  (And JPL was at his worst, every one of his awful acting ticks he indulged in on OLTL were on full display).  She and her husband reconciled and Show shipped them off to Hong Kong with only a few brief appearances since.

Yes, she was fired originally in 2007. Belle had an affair with Philip. Philip was played by Jay, who was very popular with the fans. Phelle had quite the following. Then, Shelle reconciled, got married, John died and they promptly left town, to travel the world with Claire. Philip was heartbroken.  Then, he had romances with Stefanie and that dullard Melanie. I miss Philip, he was not a Victor clone, he had his own personality, but, he had qualities that he inherited from both Kate and Victor..

JPL was one of the worst recast...ever. He was so bad that Days with their 6 months ahead taping knew he was bad and were already writing him out. He was the least macho Phillip they ever had and he had no chemistry with anyone. I almost forgot he was on the show until it was posted here. As for, Belle & Shawn they are pretty popular but TPTB won’t pull the trigger and put them on contract or have them on for long story archs. DAYS likes to bring their favorites back all the time but not put them on contract. It’s cheaper for them. That’s why we’ve seen Anna, Carrie, Belle & Shawn the last year or two. Also, Chloe’s been in & out & in & out but that’s due to her maternity leaves and taping schedule. I think she’s the only one on contract, right?

He was the worst recast and had no chemistry with anybody. He also had bad skin that aged him..Whereas, Jay's Philip, had popular pairings with Stefanie, Chloe and Belle..

And he had great chemistry with all the actors that played his parents and his siblings. If his Philip was around, there would be no doubt that he would be running Titan while Sonny and Brady wouldn't dare challenge him for control of Victor's company.

His Philip had presence and he was multifaceted. He can be nice and charming, but, he could also be very devious. I remember how he sabotaged Shawn-Douglas efforts to become a police officer, creating tension between him and Belle.  He taunted him, after he literally  just banged Belle in their bedroom, at the Brady pub. That was an awesome fight, they tore the place apart. Poor Caroline had to break them up.. Belle felt guilty about her affair with Philip and confessed it to Shawn-Douglas. She slept with Philip on the bed that she shared with Shawn-Douglas. It was interesting to see Hope and Marlena clashing over Belle's affair. Both mothers looking out for their respective child. I wanted more of that, then, the show fired the actors that played Shelle.  It made no sense to me..

I just realized when I listed John & Marlena's kids, I forgot Brady!!!!  That's how little I associate him with John these days.  Sad, eh.

Edit to add:  And Eric!!!!  Sheesh!  I miss the old days when the families all spent time together.  Sigh.

The show only sees Brady, as a Kiriakis.  It makes no sense that Jarlena does not care about the problems between Brady and Eric.

I have been rewatching 1992, it is good to see how much Brady Victor Black, was considered part of the Brady family.  They all loved John and Isabella so much..

1992 was an amazing year for the show, Bo/Carly, Vivian/Lawrence/Nicholas, Victor becoming more human, the introduction of Austin and Billie, Austin/Carrie, Jack/Jennifer, Kim/Shane, John/Isabella, Roman/Marlena, Stella Lombard. The last year, Sherry had full control of the show..

When is Ken Corday’s reboot of Days happening? He’s usually good for one every every two years. Wait! There is a reboot currently going on now? Ooooops! My bad. Move along. Nothing to see here. LOL!!!!!

It's really pretty lame that they kept Will and Paul off-screen until today.  I am amused that Paul is now the one who's all, "Eh, sometimes in this town, someone ties you up in a mausoleum".

I just can't with Gabigail, you guys.  It gives me traumatic flashbacks to the Jess/Tess/Bess/Wes days on OLTL.  And Tyler Christopher is just so blah, IMO.
