Wow--I was right to be on the optimistic side with the ratings...basically no drop from the premiere and passes Riverdale in second place on the network so far this week.   Very impressive.

Now all I have left is to hope for some Schadenfreude when Legacies airs.  I know it's wrong to hope something tanks.  But I'm really pissed about Wayward Sisters so I'm going to be petty here.  *feeling guilty but my rage isn't satiated yet*

I was already bitter about Legacies getting picked up over Wayward Sisters. Then it seemed like The Originals series finale had a crappy ending because it was setting up Legacies. So I’m doubly bitter about it.

Super Girl  and Charmed both fall to .4 with 1.33 and 1.3 million viewers--so woo hoo!  Supernatural is in second place all alone behind only The Flash in the CW--it's still a beast for the CW and extremely safe...at this point it ends when the J's want it to end.

Yay!  I expected Charmed to fall but not SG.  Good for Supernatural.

Arrow also scored a 0.4 with 1.182 million viewers. LOT premiered with a 0.3/996K viewers.

Unless SPN takes a huge drop it should be very safe for another season. Especially with the planned finale seasons (JTV, CEG and iZombie) and All American premiering super low.

Huh, so Supernatural got .3 demo and 1.36 million viewers. Legacies had the same demo and less viewers.

I was really expecting this last week but it held. So what’s going on? Baseball? People fed up with Dean-less supernatural or upset that he is back? People tuned out when it stopped being the Sam show? Right now .2’s seem real possible later in the season.

So we lost viewers in the second half.  Wayward Sisters wasn't picked up for a reason.  I think once fans saw where the episode was going they tuned out.  Dabb/Berens just don't get it WS sucks...it has no place on Supernatural.

I don't think it's one thing - probably a mix of being disappointed that the Michael!Dean storyline ended abruptly and a continuation of the fact that the more they try to make this an ensemble with multiple storylines the worse it gets.

Yes!! They talked up the MichaelDean storyline the entire effing summer only to kill it 2 episodes in. It's disgusting.

There is a reason the women sisters or whatever that crap is WAS NOT PICKED UP.

Add to it the fact that the other two storylines hold no one's interest and it's a clusterf**k.  They might not make it to the end of the season!!

No Baseball last night but there was Football.  I think fans tuned in to see how Dean mysteriously reappeared and tuned out when the soap opera included Michael being defeated by a WS.  How did they think that was going to go over with SPN fans?

After School Specials belong in daytime, as do soap operas. Eventually, this crap storytelling will catch up to them.

I think it just did.  They are now half way through filming this season.  No chance to course correct at this point unless most of the WS episodes were scheduled for the second half. Then hopefully they can dump them.

If that doesn't get Dabb's knuckles rapped, nothing will.

Unfortunately, I don't think that's possible.

So y'all are saying that there are  more of the sister episodes coming up????

Are you effing kidding me???

I thought this was the only one?

I'll also add that gone are the days when the CW could put up a new series behind or in front of the show and they would do well enough to keep going by sheer association and then move them elsewhere later.  Gotta feel bad for that Legacies show.

Well SPN at least ADJUSTED UP to .4 and 1.39 million.  Legacies stays at .3.  SPN realistically was going to hit some .4's after a .5 premiere.  I expect it to toggle a while between .4's and .5's for a while.  SPN still safe and in upper half of the CW.

SPN is going to avoid any baseball games.  Yesterday was a travel day and if it goes 7 games it ends Wednesday, so baseball wasn't a factor.

The NBA on TNT was on last night with a double header of OKC vs BOS and the Lakers vs my beloved Nuggets.  So there could have been that draw along with football.

Cheering over a .4 is just sad. And being in the top half of a disaster is still a disaster.

That's not sad that's where the whole CW is in reality...and only how a show compares to its own network is what counts for survival.  And being more than top half at worst top 5 and maybe higher is certainly no disaster...and is rather impressive for a show in it's 14th season.   That said season 15 may very well be the announced last season.

I'm hoping they get the word to wrap up the series this year in time to write a decent (well, as decent as it can be with asshole Dabb running things) ending.

Glad it adjusted up and hopefully this will be a wake up call for the CW and someone will fix this mess. Half the episodes for this season are filmed so Dabb has 10 or 11 episodes to turn this around before .3 and .2.’s are the norm. Then it’s up to the CW to decide if this show is salvageable or if Dabb is the one that gets to write the series finale. Even if the ratings drop to .1, there is no way they aren’t going to green light a series finale season. 15 is virtually guaranteed but right now I think there is a good chance it will be announced as the last.

Aside from the ep that aired on thanksgiving was this a series low?

It was before it adjusted up. Still a major warning sign. They are airing Thanksgiving again so we may see our first . 2 then.

So SuperGirl was 0.4 and 1.26 AND Charmed 0.3 and 1.14.   SPN ended up still strong on what is the reality of CW ratings circa 2018...it's right now third out of 12 shows--only Flash and Riverdale ahead of it this week.

If anyone cares, TNT is starting S13 tomorrow (Thursday, 11/1) at 10am Eastern/9am Central. It looks like they're showing up to episode18, but times are wonky due to a sports show, so you may have to check the guide and record episodes in the middle of the night.

SuperGirl .4 and 1.22 AND Charmed .3 and 0.95--So this week with Riverdale not showing, SPN then in second place all alone on CW only behind The Flash.  SPN still coasting and super safe--so still stops only when the J's want it too.

I think the landscape of TV watching is changing.  I think networks will move to a Netflix type format with 8-10 episode seasons  streamed so we can binge. The notion of one new episode each week is dying out. The major networks need to move with the times and also tracking such as Nielsen will be obsolete.

Viewers tend to record so they can FF thru annoying commercials. I don’t hardly watch live any more. Product placement will become the norm (a la Truman show).

In terms of Supernatural, if we get 15 it’ll be a shortened season.  The boys’ reps are gearing up for new gigs as we speak.

.2 would be disastrous but I would be amazed if it adjusted down. The end of the season though (given Dabb’s refusal to course correct on anything) .2’s will probably be the norm.

That can never happen because networks rely on advertising dollars to keep going. No ad dollars, no budgets to make shows.

I do agree that the Nielsen tracking needs to drastically change. I get asked almost every year to fill out my little paper diaries. It's a pain in the ass, honestly, but I dutifully fill them out. They just  need to figure out another way to document tv watching.

In the age of digital tv, Nielsen boxes and paper diaries are kind of ridiculous. My cable company knows exactly what channels I'm watching and when - the data is all there for *everybody*, whether it's their home system, their phones and tablets, or any other way they are accessing entertainment. I don't know if we'll ever see consistent 8-10-12 episode shows on American broadcast tv though. Too expensive. We may yet see the day though, when broadcast tv will only be news and 'reality', with the cable networks making all the scripted entertainment.

On topic - I think Dabb's bait & switch on Michael!Dean and his insistence on Wayward and Nickifer and a cast of thousands nobody cares about is going to come home to roost. I think it's already happening.

Yeah, I agree. The hunters are nondescript and the Nick storyline is just been there, done that. Jack is not interesting any more since he lost his powers so he is just a moper.

I'm not even going to touch the sisters. Didn't watch  then, have no interest now.

Yes, I'm mostly a brother fan and someone somewhere else said that there was a "disconnect" between the brothers. I think that is true. Even in the episodes where they are working together, it seems the brothers are worlds apart. They didn't even seem so far away from each other after Dean came back from hell and after Sam came back into his life, or after Sam was possessed by Gadreel. It's as if they can't be as intimate (no, not that way!) as they used to be in a bunker full of people. Even Dean complained about this.

Just adding that even though some people bitterly complain about the bond that Sam and Dean have, let's be honest, they are the show. Their interactions are what we have been tuning in for the past 14 (!) years. If they aren't in sync and in tune, the show suffers massively. Like what I think is happening now.
