ajsnaves November 26, 2018 Share November 26, 2018 Movie behind the scenes. It looks like Mr. Carson is still Butler and Molesley is still a footman. I wonder how much time will have passed. 2 Link to comment

Bridget September 19, 2019 Share September 19, 2019 There is a brand new Downton Abbey TV special on tonight (Thursday, 9/19). It’ll be on NBC from 8-9pm and is called “Return to Downton Abbey.” Link to comment
chaifan September 20, 2019 Share September 20, 2019 ugh. Who chose Derek Hough to host the Return to Downton special? He was god awful. Stick to dancing Derek. Stick to dancing. 3 Link to comment

His line-reading is not good. Too much Derek and not enough Downton. If you fast forward past all shots of Derek mugging and dancing and speaking, and then also fast forward through the multiple repeat shots - seriously, they showed several filler scenes 2-3 times - I think you could watch the whole special in about 7 1/2 minutes. (OK, exaggerating a little, but you'll see what I mean.) For such a meticulously produced show, this was a crap produced special. A second year film student could do better. Full disclosure: I'm a little bitter because there were no interviews with Thomas. 1 3 Link to comment
seacliffsal September 21, 2019 Share September 21, 2019 I, too, have no idea how they chose Derek to be the host. His behaviors were so far removed from the wonderfully elegant and sophisicated world of Downton Abbey. Is NBC trying to make "fleck" happen with him? There are so many fine actors they could have chosen instead of him. Or, like the special on PBS, just have one of the DA cast serve as host/hostess. Yet, I still watched it because, you know, Downton Abbey... 3 Link to comment
buttersister June 20, 2020 Share June 20, 2020 I’m hearing/seeing that PBS’ right to air DA ends on June 30. Many local channels are running marathons. Can’t find any news about it being picked up be a streaming service. Link to comment

Even though I own it on blu-ray, I hope it doesn't leave Prime. 2 2 Link to comment
buttersister June 20, 2020 Share June 20, 2020 No Peacock here. But I've seen so many marathons, I could probably recite the lines😉 Thanks, lurkerbee. I'm afraid Prime is still PBS. 1 Link to comment
Sew Sumi June 21, 2020 Share June 21, 2020 I quickly checked Peacock and didn't see it. Maybe it won't show until 7/1? Link to comment

Cetacean April 19, 2021 Share April 19, 2021 The ending of the last one left things for the Dowager to go either way, that's for sure. 2 Link to comment
