Season 22: Last Chance Kitchen

Recommended Posts

I was rooting for Mimi to redeem herself, as I can only imagine how embarrassed she is about flaming out so spectacularly in the first challenge.  It was clear Sam had the best dish, but at least she gets to stay in it for at least a bit longer.  I wonder how much time had passed by the time they started filming LCK.  Poor Ying, so excited to be part of this and then running out of time.

I watched it on You Tube.  Much better than on the Bravo app.   No commercials once it starts.

Choosing between Mimi and Ying, I would have kept Ying, or bounced both of them.   Mimi has put up subpar dishes, twice on the main show, and once on LCK.   Ying only didn't shine in LCK.   I really like Sam though.

I always watch it on Bravo's YouTube channel and then just cast it to my television.

I feel bad that we won't get to see more of Ying. She interested me much more than Mimi. Her enthusiasm was delightful and any chef who wants to highlight mushrooms would be high on my list.

Mimi kind of annoyed me at the end acting as if this was a win for her. No, you came in second and only because Ying didn't get the required items on her plate.

Sam seems to be an interesting and creative chef, too. I'd bet Mimi's out next week.

My thoughts exactly.  I didn't like Mimi (and her hat) on the main show and I liked Ying.  Tom really had no choice when she left off two ingredients but I was sorry to see her go.  I hope Sam continues to do well.

I would have picked Ying over Mimi.  Mimi had two chances to excell in the episode, and LCK, and really didn't deliver for either.

But the judging isn't based on cumulative performance, it's based on that LCK challenge only.  So there was no keeping Ying.  But since there were three of them he could have sent Mimi packing, too.

I've got a weird bias against chefs with hats.

I do too because a hat that serves no useful purpose is an affectation.  I have no problem with things like sweat bands and the occasional kerchief seen on Chopped when the purpose is to keep hair back.  It's the hats worn as costumes that annoy me.  (I mean hats in kitchens only.)

Wait a sec, why is no one complaining about bringing in brand new chefs through LCK?  That's all anyone could talk about last season.

Yeah, I seem to like them, but why not just throw them into the main competition? A season taking place in Canada could really use a couple more canadian chefs in the main competition anyway.

Not surprised at all, just disappointed that they did it again, instead of throwing them in the main competition for whatever reason.

I don't understand what the producers could think it adds to the show.  There probably was some shock value the first time but the current cast probably watched the last season so they won't be very surprised.  I don't like it and I'll bet the chefs don't either.  What's the point?

I'm with Mimi in her description of Canadian bacon, as that's my only experience with it, too, not a nice piece like they had here.

I laughed at Sam saying he's the worst Canadian in terms of eating things Canada is known for.

Just as Bailey was the clear loser in the main competition, I found her the clear winner here.  Unlike the other two, she had no flaws, but she'd have been my pick even if they'd nailed theirs as I thought hers best met the brief.

While I'd have undoubtedly found Ying's relentless cheerleading annoying if I was trying to cook, sitting here at home I cannot be mad at it.  She has a positive energy that can drive me nuts, but I have to respect it when it's so genuine as it clearly is with her.  I like that Bailey went over and introduced herself afterward rather than waiting for Ying to come join the group.

I generally try not to dislike reality TV people just for how they talk because ya know, they can't help it. But it turns out Bailey does actively get on my nerves, and I'm surprised she won this round. Sorry, Bailey! I did like how you were kind toward Ying about the number of people on Top Chef though. That sounded sincere.

I didn't think Mimi was long for this show, and I don't think Bailey is either, but I can't say Sam is killing it either. I do, however, stand alone in my appreciation for Canadian bacon. But lord, outside of pizza or eggs benedict, I don't know what you'd use it for.

They've had 3 chefs competing more and more in recent years. Sometimes with a double elimination, sometimes we get what we're seeing now.

I don't expect a double elimination in this format until it's time to graduate one of these chefs back to the main competition. And why won't that chef be Sam? Otherwise, the format is a waste of time.

Just watched LCK, and if I didn't already dislike Bailey, I would now. Nothing to do with her cooking or the food, but OMG enough with the poses, the lean, the facial expressions, the vocal fryyyyyyyy. This feels like one long TikTok video. I may stop watching LCK until I know she's gone.

I'm with you 100%. Can't stand her.  At least I can check in here to find out when she gets booted off!

This is so frustrating. I went to the Bravo website to watch LCK, when I clicked on the link to play, it told me I needed to download the app (so you can't watch it on the website, liars!). I downloaded the app, waded through so much Real Howives crap, then was told I needed to find my cable provider and log in with my unknown site username and password. So I can watch full episodes of whatever. Guess what, assholes, I have a TV where I already watch full episodes of your crappy shows! And that, my friends, is when I gave up. I hate Bravo!

Even though I can watch through the Bravo website, I hate the interface. So much better to watch LCK on YouTube.

Edited to add: thank you, @NowVoyager and @tv echo for posting the vids here. I decided to read the thread to see what happened and was able to watch LCK! THANK YOU BOTH!

I watch on the website every week without incident. I have no clue what happened to you, but I have never downloaded the app. Weird...

I was going to say the same thing as above.  I've watched it on the Bravo site for years and have never had a problem.  I use Chrome if that matters.

I used to watch it on demand with all the other Bravo content but then they moved LCK to Peacock and new shows stopped appearing there. I must have seen last season's LCK somewhere...I'll try the website again. It is possible I am a complete idiot.
