"Jonathan had his dream job, and he ate himself out of it; once an EMT first responder, he rarely leaves the room; his wife works full time to pay their bills; Jonathan must break the cycle of eating if he wants to keep his wife and his life."

(TLC calls this a new season, so S13.  However, cable guides and other listings call this and other episodes S12, with varying episode numbers.   Also, Dr. Now's office was remodeled, so it looks very different).

I'm confused!  Had no idea there was a new season, which for some reason is coming up as Season 12 on my TV channel guide, not 13. And I'm seeing Dr now on Instagram saying he's got a new show starting next Mon Jan 6 on Lifetime called something like 6,000 Lb Stories. Says it's the official new home for Dr. Now.

Yes, the episodes are misnumbered on all of the cable guides, but this happened before where the episode and season numbers were all from the previous season.

Yes, Dr. Now has another show, 6,000 lb Diaries, starting Monday on Lifetime, 10 2-hour episodes.  I think he's mostly the narrator but we'll have to see.   They redecorated the office so the background will look different, and so will Dr. Now.  He has a goatee now.    Both shows are from his son's company.

I was thrilled at Jonathan's progress and attitude.  I didn't have much hope at the beginning, but he proved me wrong.  Lost 200 lbs. qualified for surgery, moved and his wife will join him when her job transfer happens. (I wonder if she had a hiring bonus she had to work off in Illinois? ).

I’m watching this now.  The couple’s home seemed so sparse.  It seemed void of personal belongings.  Even tne yard appeared desolate.  Odd.

When I see this on other TV shows, I figure it's because production has rented an AirB&B because their home was not fit for filming.  Catfish does this a lot.

Missed the show and chat, but enjoyed reading through all your snarky comments, as always!

Nice couple. Wife is a saint. A saint in a message T-shirt lol Do they make them wear their dumpiest clothes for the show? Nice lady, but she needs a course in assertiveness. No way my non-working husband would eat a week’s worth of food for his breakfast, that I worked to pay for, while he couched and grazed all day!   Another man-baby. But he seemed to genuinely want to succeed and go back to working.  Nice to start with a success, even if they’re boring.

Why the shot of the squirrel looking dubious when he pulled up to the park? And why did that amuse me so much? 🤣

I noticed that too. My guess was that the wife carrying all the bills left little extra. She wore that same tshirt about nurses having tattoos for several scenes. They ate off a counter and he had a chair but she didn’t.  She seemed like a switched on person. I would have expected curtains and at least some decent furniture.
I am thinking a lot of her income was spent on groceries and fast food before they went on the program.

Thought their home was a bit sterile too. But after watching, I think wife Tzan(?) was a minimalist- No makeup, hair in pony, scubs or t-shirts were her outfits. It's possible its not their home, but possible it is.

Their front step was a death trap, that leads me to think that wasn't their place. Jonathan did not seem comfortable maneuvering the step.

They drove 3 different cars, the first two looked nice, the third one he drove to Houston solo not as nice.

I was shocked when I saw their stairs. No railing for someone so unsteady on their feet-death trap is right.  I always wonder the same, when I see the Real Housewives and their huge mansions with lots of stairs and no railings-don’t old or fat people ever visit?! Yikes.

I noticed that and actually appreciated it. So many times the homes of the poundicipants are cluttered and dirty. This house may have been a little sparse but it was clean.

I believe Tzana was working at a nursing home. Even RNs in those places don't make a lot of money; nurses can make much more in hospitals. So I'm guessing they didn't have much and maybe they live within their means?

FWIW both work in medical fields and understand the need to have things clean.

Okay, I'm watching now (also slowly working my way through the chat thread).

They blurred his butt walking from the shower, but the way his inner thighs hang down it looks like a butt at his knees. (At least I think that's his thighs....)

He was a very cute baby.

The chair being so low makes him look like a little kid sitting at the table. I want to stick a phone book under him (remember those days?).

"I had fun at college because I had a job that paid enough that I could go to all the fast food places." Not what comes to mind when I think of the college experience, but okay.

Why is she just standing there watching him eat?

Room 5!

It's nice to see them being both pleasant and engaged at the doc's office, rather than just flatly agreeing with everything Dr. Now says while the companion sits sullenly in the corner.

My eating habit tonight was pizza. I started watching about 7:30 and at about 8:15 I forced myself to get up and march in place and otherwise move around in my living room for the rest of the show. (Moved my computer to a shelf where I can stop and type without sitting down. Not high enough to use as a standing desk but okay for a sentence or two here and there.)

Dr. Now has a lotta pins on his white coat (I counted four on each lapel)...at least two of them seem to be American flags (one of them blinged out, to match his stethoscope, I assume).

I noticed at the doc's office (after he got to Houston by himself) when the nurse he called for him in the waiting room, he seemed to get up pretty easily without even using his arms.

Sorry, but if surgery depends on whether he lost more weight, why the hell would they waste time getting him all gowned up and in bed with those pressure things on his legs if he hasn't been weighed? They must have weighed him first and TV people just think we're dumb.

Wasn't she wearing that "good vibes" shirt she tried on while shopping in the prior scene at the doc's office?

Sorry I missed chat last night but y'all made me giggle while I read it.

A nice positive start to the new season. Jonathan and Tzana seemed like really good people, and they cleared loved each other. I wish them both every success. But whilst I like to see the Poundticipants succeed, this isn't why I watch this show. I want the trainwrecks!!

As do (I suspect) most of us.  But an episode like this is a great reminder that if the poundticipants actually read and follow Dr. Now's instructions without a bunch of excuses, THE PLAN WORKS!!!!
