I've seen The Wild Robot and Inside Out 2. I already had Flow on my want-to-see list based on the buzz around it. Now, it's a must.

Demi Moore's acceptance speech was excellent. Being told she was just popcorn and hearing that as "you're lesser" broke my heart for her. This woman was the highest paid female actor in Hollywood for several years! Can you imagine Harrison Ford or Samuel L. Jackson being told they were just popcorn? The way Hollywood has treated women for more than a century has been despicable. I'm very happy for her.

"Hey, Dwayne!"  Heh, at least Vin is self-aware enough to acknowledge the love/hate feud between him and Dwayne.  Years from now, I hope Ryan Murphy or someone does a miniseries on that drama!

At least Wicked won't go home empty handed?

Still cool that the guy who started out doing Step Up films is now overseeing some bigger and better projects now.

I can. There are some actors (think The Rock, Vin Diesel, and even Harrison Ford, etc) that you can't imagine being able to put themselves into more complex, nuanced roles. Maybe they can, maybe they can't, but they make money in their little niches.

Hacks win comedy, so between this and the Emmys, maybe voters have all agreed that The Bear being this category is inaccurate (well, that and Hacks itself is just a great show in general.)

Hacks is great. I will say, I thought that the end of season 3 could have been the series finale, but they keep surprising me.

I thought Glaser did fine. Her jokes were understated, yet overall very good.

She's come a long way from those horrible roasts full of smutty humor by the old boys comedian club. Good for her.

I like Jo Koy too, but he got thrown under the bus by the short notice, poor writers, and a hostile, arrogant audience.

Read Koy's autobiography..  it's an amazing story about his family, .

"The Brutalist" has an Intermission.

People used to have no problem in sitting through a long movie: "Cleopatra"; "Lawrence of Arabia"; "Dr. Zhivago";  "Gandhi." All over 3 hours.

Every one of those films you mentioned also has an intermission…

3 hr+ films without an intermission are much more common nowadays than they were in the past.

I didn't say those other movies had no Intermission.

I can't think of any "much more common nowadays" "3 hr+ films" without. Do you have an example?

Zoe Saldana kicks things off with a win!  Haven't seen the film yet, but I've heard she was great in it, so I'm sure it was deserved.  Looks like a competitive category though, so we'll see come Oscar time.

She really took it seriously.  It's only a GG, girl.  That speech was way too long.

I thought Nikki was funny, she was relaxed & not trying "too hard", certainly much better than Jo Koy last year.  And all her gowns have been really pretty.

Way better than Jo Koy!

thankfully, i have a remote close by to mute this “witty” banter written for the presenters — otherwise, i’d be putting a bullet on my brain:)

Then you missed the funniest part of the evening, Seth Rogan and Catherine O'Hara.  They were hysterical!

Every time I see Kieran Culkin in real life I think that he's basically Roman Roy without the billions.

KC is the same in Succcession, as he is A Real Pain, as he is on any talk show.  He's himself all the time.

Coincidentally I was watching A Few Good Men last week and while perusing the IMDB trivia section for the film was reminded of this little anecdote:  An unnamed executive gave Aaron Sorkin a note: "If Tom Cruise and Demi Moore aren't going to sleep with each other, why is Demi Moore a woman?" He responded, "I said the obvious answer: Women have purposes other than to sleep with Tom Cruise."

Demi's win was a huge surprise, and her speech was indeed excellent.  When she left the stage and the cameras showed a wide shot of the audience, I wondered aloud why they were not on their feet.  I've never been the biggest Demi Moore fan in the room, but she deserved a standing O last night, in my opinion.

The way you wrote it sounded like you were saying people were better at sitting through 3-hours in the past but The Brutalist has one because nowadays people can’t do it.

Some recent 3 hour+ films: Oppenheimer, Killers of the Flower Moon, Avengers: Endgame

I was wondering why Demi Moore walking walking out in front of Margaret Qualley.  I thought "how rude", lol.  Haven't seen the

I liked a lot of the dresses this year, more fresh and forward.  Except for Angelina Jolie, she needs a new stylist.  Zendaya ALWAYS stuns and her clothes reflect her youth.  Viola's dress was great.

Hacks is wonderful.  The talk she did in the woods about aging in episode 5 was so spot on and heartfelt.

Wish Ted Danson was awarded at the live ceremony, love him. So good in dramatic roles.

What is with all of the mustaches?  Ick, ick, ick.  Goatee is great, but that?  No.

thanks! found it on youtube. it was funny — and witty (no quotes:). still glad for the remote, though — most of the banter was unbearable.

I'm no Seth Rogen fan, and haven't seen him in years so was shocked at how old he looked.  His bit with Catherine O'Hara was by far the highlight of the evening in terms of the presenters.

I knew "The Brutalist" and Adrien Brody were going to win, because it's a holocaust movie.  I was rooting for Ralph Fiennes and "Conclave", perhaps Fiennes can pull off a surprise at the Oscars.

Demi Moore!  Fantastic win over the favorites Mikey Madison and Karla Sofia Gascon.  She gave an amazing speech, I hope that helps carry her to a win at the Oscars.

The drama actress category was stacked.  I don't know anything about the lady who won but I do remember her mother in "Central Station", and felt very old.  If she can beat out four Oscar winners, she must have something going for her.

After Demi won, I bet Pamela Anderson was thinking nostalgia/comeback would also lead her to a win, but it wasn't meant to be.  I know she has been doing the "no makeup" thing recently, but I get it by now.  It wouldn't have hurt her to put on a little eye makeup, without it she just looked incredibly tired to me.

I've never been a fan of Adrien Brody ever since he assaulted Halle Berry, and I didn't care for him kind of copying Demi Moore by saying something like "I never thought I'd get another chance again".  He already has an Oscar, it just rang very hollow to me.

Absolutely thrilled for Demi!  She looked fantastic and her speech was amazing.  The moment of the night, in my opinion.

Some had to mute during the banter, I had to turn my head and shield my eyes whenever Ariana Grande was on the screen.  What is up with this schtick?  This constant facial expression like she is seeing fairies dance in front of her eyes.  When she got up to go on stage, she was like a child, she couldn't even walk, she had to hop around on her tip toes.  I'm not sure what she's going for lately but it's absolutely idiotic.

Didn't watch this but did hear Nikki's opening.  I know of at least some blogs that were looking for uncomfortable shots of celebs when she went into her Diddy comments.

Happy for Demi and she looked lovely.  There's been chatter about Ariana Grande possibly being involved in an Audrey Hepburn pic (since the one with Rooney Mara fell through) so maybe she's trying to go for that but she needs a new style rethink especially make-up wise because she just looks grey.  Pam Anderson doesn't need a lot of makeup but even a fuller brow would work on her and some primary colors (she looked good in the Variety article).  As soon as I saw Zendaya I knew she and Law Roach were doing an homage to Dorothy Dandridge and turns out that was correct but also giving props to others who went before like Diahann Carroll, Eartha Kitt, Joyce Bryant, Zelda Wynn Valdes, etc.

Just because he had a similar sentiment doesn't mean he was copying her. I get where he was coming from. For a long time after the Oscar, he had flops and was banned from SNL. He was kind of considered a has-been. He hasn't been nominated for an Oscar since his win. He's had a somewhat solid career the last few years, but I get him being elated that he's gotten back to this level again.

Eh, Demi, you won a friggin Golden Globe--not the Nobel Peace Prize. 🙄

I know people make jokes and all that about the Globes being lesser than other awards, but most of the actors do take their wins seriously. It is still considered a major award and an Oscar precursor. Demi hasn't had this kind of reaction to a role in a long time. I understand why this win feels monumental and means something to her. And, who knows, this might be her only shot at winning one of the major awards.

I can forgive her for being excited about the award.  She is 62 years old and as she said, this is the first time she has ever won anything.  (I'm assuming she doesn't count her Golden Raspberry for "Striptease".)  In looking at her profile, she's only ever been nominated for two Globes ("Ghost" and "If These Walls Could Talk" in the 90s) before and no Critics awards ever before this year.
