Yep!  The finale if I'm understanding this correctly will be over two weeks instead of a 3 hour show.  I guess next week will be second to last TC and the following week will be the last TC, finale and the aftershow.

Im ok with it. Going into the final episode with 6 people always feels rushed and drawn out at the same time. I think splitting it will be better.

Rachel still has her block a vote.  So next round, when there are six people left, and they assume that it's now 3-3 with Andy voting with Sam and Genevieve, I assume she will just use it to block one of their votes and she, Sue and Teeny have their pick of who to send home.  I would assume it will be Andy... they will see him as dangerous and unpredictable and someone who just pulled off a major move that might be rewarded by the jury.

If Andy has indeed become the producer's darling this year (6 episode title quotes must count for something), I'm assuming it's about time for some Ben Driebergenish shenanigans to gift Andy a not-so-hidden idol.

When was the last time a full-out flipper won the game?  There have of course been people who flipped.  But Andy flips almost every week.  Seems to me that the juries tend not to like flippers.

Yeah, with Rachel's block a vote advantage still in play, Andy is in a bad spot. This episode showed that he's playing multiple sides and can't be trusted.

I'll be curious to hear how he attempts to spin this latest move, Caroline just wasn't a big enough threat at the end to be able to sell the move to get her out and reduce the numbers of the underdog alliance.

But his astronomical airtime plus multiple episode title quotes makes it seem likely that he may survive all the way to the end and depending on who's sitting next to him, he could actually win.

I give Teeny a pass on that meltdown, I can so totally relate to that. Piss me off on the wrong day (or when I'm hangry) and give me an audience egging me on and I'd gnash my teeth too. Plus, I thought her Sam impression was pretty funny, she's got his hand gestures and tone down pretty good. It doesn't compare to the Liz meltdowns of last season because Liz was a weirdo 24/7, no one liked her, and she had multiple incidents. A single meltdown in 26 days, I can overlook.

Caroline's "I think I would have won" final speech was intriguing to me. I realize that everyone is the hero in their own story and she's not privy to all the dynamics, but she just isn't showing up as a force in this game. Little airtime in the final edit and I'd be hard pressed to come up with a game changing moment that could be credited to her.

Even her ouster wasn't really her moment, she was simply a back-up plan when the bigger fish won immunity and she was a fraction less goat-y than Sue.

fixed that for you.

You are making fun of Andy being "given" an idol, but you forget about Sol's advantage that he gave to Rachel the night she was 100% going home to just leave the tribal...

Or, hear me out, pizza and wings both nights.  This is December, most people's diets are shot to hell anyway.

Maybe I missed it, but what would have happened with Operation: Italy if Sam or Genevieve won immunity? Then the other 5 votes wouldn't have been split. Were Sam and Genevieve confident enough in the plan that they both threw immunity? Or would the plan just have been abandoned if one of them won immunity, assuring the other one went home?

Was wondering that myself.  Just speculation. but since the Gang of 4 were convinced Gen may have an idol, had she won immunity, they would think she might give it to Sam.  So split the vote with Andy.  If Sam won, Andy would also have become their go to for the vote split.  ???

Result could be the same, slapping that smirk off Sue's face😎

I guess the finale has always been on one night and we've always made it a big deal for us.

I am here to say that a 2 part finale does not exist.  The finale is on 12/18.  The next episode is Episode 13 of the season and that's it.  (Or, how about this as an ad for next season: Join us on September 17 for part 1 of our 14-part finale of Survivor: Season 48!)

It will be interesting to see how they lay out the timing of everything in the next two episodes - but we are getting an extra episode (even if that amounts in this new 90 minute era to only an extra half hour of footage over the two "finale" episodes), and that's a good thing in my view.

Am I crazy? Usually it's 13 episodes in the New Era. So 14 is good.

I'm going by what I read and the article said the finale was being split into 2 parts or 2 weeks.  I did not say it so get that straight!

That's @Diana Berry.  Makes me laugh every time.  All of you make me laugh, I'm particularly loving all the names for Sue this episode.

Andy and his beautiful teeth and fabulous hair lives to see another day.

Teeny and their gorgeous eyes and porcelain skin with no visible pores lives to see another day.

Caroline ,whose name I never knew until this episode, fare the well.  The tribe has spoken. Although  we  will miss your weekly mud filled beauty sessions with your bestie Sue.

Am I the only one that saw the rat scurry by in background at the spa? It was during the night vision footage . It was in back of Sam right before Andy said Operation Italy.  No fears GI Sam doll was in no danger.  We shall call him Willard.

I'm convinced Andy is a narcissistic sociopath.  He'll be whoever he needs to be in the moment, without empathy or regret for his victims and choices.  He is devoid of any quality that would make me like him.

I don't think she's joking.  I think she really believes we all want to try the mud contouring method in the hope that we'll look as sexy as she thinks she looked on the show.

Let’s not kid ourselves.  Sue’s level of vanity is higher than your average person which is perfectly fine because she seems happy with the image she is trying to portray.  Have at it sista.  However when she went to get her personal item of mascara and spread it around I’m sure she caught a glimpse of herself in some window or mirror and she did not like what she saw.  Thus the soot face and story.

Nobody in survivor to date has had permanent grime face.  No one.  You don’t have it unless you want it.  Caroline said everyone told her and she seemed to dab at it but not clean it.  Not clean it with water, sand….etc. Just like all plastic surgery, fillers and what not you create the look you want.  Just say we didn’t have any foundation so I used dirt and grime to cover up my facial imperfections that only I see in the mirror lol.

all that sun would bring out melasma on me.  I probably would be horrified to see my face after 2 weeks in the sun.  However  I would imagine none of you would even notice it!

The only thing I wish had happened is they targeted Sue over Caroline.  Especially seeing her smug reaction when Kyle walked in.

Smug is all she can pull off with her skin pulled so tight it looks like it's ready to snap.

Jeebus, does the woman never splash her face with some water now and then? And yes, why is no one telling her she has dirt all over her face, especially before they go to tribal?

Editing to say that I hadn't read all the comments, so finding out she was using mud to contour made me roll my eyes so hard. I get the vanity but what in the world? Is this a version of the Emperor's New Clothes?

About Sue's face, I saw someone say it in the live thread and my wife said she'd read elsewhere that she's using the charcoal to do contours on her face. Which is still weird, but at least it's not her face falling apart and rotting.

On 12/6/2024 at 12:58 PM, Tango64 said:

I think Sue is realizing that her face looks like hell now and she's sensitive about it. She's smearing soot and dirt on her face to cover it up, thinking hey everyone is dirty out here, it will just look normal and no one will see how my skin really looks.

It's not helping, if anything it draws more attention to her face. I've always admired how good everyone's skin looks at tribal, most likely the lighting is kinder there, but it's horrifying to look at Sue in daylight or firelight.  I know women who look like her, exactly like her, and even with make up and contouring there is something so off-putting seeing how plastic their faces ended up looking.

Genevieve - her bestie was Rome.

Teeny - got a swelled head, like Marcia Brady when she was cast as Juliet in the school play.

Andy - had a full blown meltdown in front of everyone on Day 1.

Sam - pushed for getting rid of Jon Lovett, instead of Andy.

Rachel - stabbed Sol in the back after he saved her ass.

Sue - delusional about almost everything. Brought up the "Tweedledee and Tweedledum" thing again - which she only believes because Andy told her that.

So . . . who am I rooting for again? And, why am I still watching this?

Great descriptions of everyone, nailed it.

I was just making fun of CBS marketing the finale as a two-parter.

It really is ridiculous to call it a 2-part finale. There are 6 people left, if they get rid of 1 this week, it leaves the usual 5 at the finale. Even if they get rid of 2 in this episode, that still leaves plenty of people left for a regular finale episode.

The way that she smudged that black shit over and under her eyes so naturally confirmed that she was definitely trying to use dirt as some kind of enhancement out there.

I kinda want her to make the final 3 and come out with a big "reveal" about her real age, only to have the others be like...yeah, we figured.

My guess is this is CBS' way of justifying stretching this week's episode to two hours. "It's not an extra-long episode -- it's half of a four-hour finale!"

(Unless next week runs three hours. I'm afraid to look.)

Though I like the reading of the votes at the final tribal council and the after party on the spot and without having time to decompress from the result, I do miss seeing them all dressed up and ready to talk about things that happened. I even miss Jeff talking with random kids in the audience. Can't we have both? :(

I also like to see them a few months later though I hope none of them really wear makeup like that in real life (it might be worthwhile just to see what Sue looks like) but the problem with that is that we'd also have to talk to Cochrane and/or some other 'character' from a previous season.

I don't miss Jeff talking to random kids or other audience members on who will win or telling us what the word on the street it.

The only thing I miss from the later reunion show was getting feedback from players after they watched the show. When it's right after the vote, they don't see footage of them getting made to look stupid or made fun of in a confessional or fully get where they looked dumb on TV--so we miss "how do you feel now" type reactions. That's all I miss and whether those moments exist vary by show.

I miss seeing how they look cleaned up and in better shape, but I don't miss all the other hoopla with the live audience. However, making the loser who just got zero votes sit there and celebrate is borderline cruel.
