This proves that Isaac's friends were right when they urged him to get a pre-nup.

But if it was a wedding gift, as the Hidden Remote article says, then it was for both of them, even though Isaac's the one with the dinosaur fetish.  I'm already wondering why Nigel would even want it given that he's admitted he's not into dinosaurs (he'd prefer an ant bed, I assume).  It might be he just wants it out of hurt pride.

My reaction when one of the suggested solutions in the article was moving the bed back and forth between the mansion and the shed was "Aw, hell no!"  Even Jay's not that good natured (I hope).  I'd like to hear him say, "Figure it out, or it goes in the garbage."

Yeah, Nigel could just as easily say that he doesn't want it and let Isaac take it, or he could claim it for himself out of spite. But the fact he wants to try and work out a compromise to share it says, to me, that it's still hsi way of trying to stay connected to Isaac. I feel like this fight over the bed is going to be similar to their fights over the property lines, in that it's an excuse for them to see each other. Because for as much as they fight with each other, and as tense as things are between them right now, those feelings are still there deep down.

At least, that's my take on it all :).

All of that being said, Isaac does have a point about the illogical nature of Nigel's suggestion, 'cause yes, I do wonder just where exactly he thinks this "neutral territory" would be for the bed. Plus, like you said, Jay having to lug it around and all.

I do love that Jay is taking the time to try and set up this dino bed for a ghost to sleep in, though :p. He really does love his eight idiot children, LOL.

The episode description says that the bed is a belated wedding present. But the wedding didn't happen. Are Isaac & Nigel allowed to keep the gift?  We need an etiquette expert -- Hetty?

I actually used to read the Miss Manners column in the newspaper back in the day (she could be very witty and sarcastic), and I remember this question coming up.  If I remember correctly, according to her, the ex-couple are supposed to offer to return the gifts, though it's up to the givers to decide whether to take them up on it--probably they're supposed to be polite and say, "No, keep it,"  but I'm not so sure I'd be so noble.  Because in that case, if one or the other does get married to someone else and you're invited, you're stuck giving another gift.  But honestly, you gave them a gift specifically for their wedding and that didn't happen, so why should they get to keep it?

“You’re both civilized women. Just do cocaine.” lmao

I would’ve loved that dinosaur bed when I was a kid, and honestly, I still kind of want it now. It’s sweet that Nigel learned a bunch of dinosaur facts for Isaac as a surprise and it’s nice that they really talked and decided to be friends. Poor Jay having to assemble and take apart and then reassemble that bed.

I love that everyone kept blaming Pete for telling Sam to bring up the book.

AAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHH, this episode made me so happy! I LOVED that end scene between Isaac and Nigel. It's so, SO nice to see the ice starting to finally thaw between them, and seeing htem actually talk to each other and resolve things and start working things out. I really appreciated Isaac apologizing - and I like that he knew the apology wasn't going to be a magic fix-it that wipes everything clean, but he still did it because he meant it and he knew Nigel deserved to hear it. And I appreciated Nigel acknowledging that they had rushed things a little. It makes sense they're starting over as friends instead of jumping right back into their relationship - let them get to know each other all over again at a slower pace, and now we can watch them slowly work their way back towards eventulally getting back together as a couple, too, whenever that will be down thel line.

I also really loved that Nigel studied up on dinosaurs because he knew Isaac liked them, and he wanted that to be his wedding gift for Isaac. Aw <3. Everything with the dino bed was so funny and absurd (the image of Isaac laying in it and talkng about wanting to be the tongue :p), and I love that it's now sitting in the shed for Baxter and Carol to enjoy, LOL.

I also love that Jenkins has opinions on Baxter and Carol's marriage :p. Gotta say, I feel for the guy having to be stuck in a shed with a couple he can't stand and now having to look at that goofy bed on top of it all.

But yeah. Just. Yay. This was a great step for Isaac and Nigel and I'm really happy with how that storyline resolved itself.

(Also, "My body count is quite high and I'm not talking about the war." XD.)

I loved the whole storyline with the Farnsbys, too. The ending with the romantic dinner was really sweet. Happy orgiversary :p!

But yeah, I loved Mr. Farnsby and Jay singing together, and Mr. Farnsby constantly singing "Love is a Battlefield" ("We are young..." "No, you're not!" LMAO. The ghosts' running commentary in general was fantastic. "Why are we clapping?" "Who is this for?"). And Sam trying to connect with Mrs. Farsnby was great, too. I'm glad Jay and Sam ultimately wound up helping to get the Farnsbys back together, and that both sides came to an understanding about the work on the restaurant as well.

Yeah. This was a fun episode.

Yeah. This was a fun episode.

Yes to all of this.  So now we know, as many of us had surmised, that Nigel had been around the block a few times when alive--and by his own admission might even have been a bit of a slut.  Stable boys, footmen, schoolmates, maybe a fellow officer or two . . .  But he honestly does seem to be the type to want a permanent relationship and to be willing to work to achieve it.

He's still much more emotionally mature than Isaac and he's very generous, not only because he taught himself about dinosaurs to please Isaac but also because he was willing to try to be friends with him after all the hurt he put him through.  I'd been thinking Isaac didn't deserve him just when Isaac said that himself.  Nigel's clearly willing to make sacrifices to make his loved one happy.  I don't know where this relationship will go but it would be nice to think that, eventually, they find each other again.  Meanwhile, it will be nice to have them as friends.

I do wonder how Nigel was able to study dinosaurs, though.  Maybe he asked Sam to get him a book out of the library and bring it to the shed (since he was living in the mansion at that time and Isaac would have seen it) or she brought a laptop over and found a relevant site.  Either way, she'd have had to stand there and either turn the pages as he read or scroll the computer screen.

One major gaffe that I'm surprised the writers committed and that neither they nor the actors seem to have caught was Isaac's calling Nigel "Lieutenant."  Yes, Nigel was a lieutenant colonel, but that's still a colonel's rank, not a lieutenant's, and his title would have been Colonel.  He was demoted from being two ranks above Isaac to being a rank below him!

I'd like to see a little Baxter/Jenkins comedy every now and then.  But, oh my, I did feel sorry for Nigel and even Jenkins holed up in that shed with Baxter and Carol getting it on.

Once again Sam sacrificed Jay, this time by making him jam with Farnsby--and of course Jay dismantled, moved, and reassembled the dinosaur bed because he had nothing more important to do, such as worry about the fate of his restaurant or the malignant Farnsbys.  And of course, once again the ghosts took advantage of Sam's good nature, this time just before she and Jay were about to get intimate.  I think all the issues we've ever complained about in those dynamics were encapsulated in this one episode!

I don't understand how it even got to the shed. Jay was in the middle of dealing with the Farnsby crisis.  There's no way he was able to stop for a few hours to dissemble. move and reassemble the bed for a ghost, nor should he have.

I wondered about that, too.  Or Trevor could have helped, but I doubt he would have kept that a secret.  Speaking of which, Isaac should have asked Trevor to help with the lamp.

Sam really needs to have a firm curfew time when she's off duty, barring a true emergency.  Isaac is still very selfish.

Anybody else find the idea that Sam bought Isaac a kid’s dino bed as a wedding gift off-putting?  “Look at little Isaac, he likes dinosaurs and he is getting married! Aww, how cute!”  I don’t like what they turned Isaac into.  Nigel has no interest in dinosaurs and he came across as having a more serious interest in them than Isaac with his infantile infatuation.  The man used to be a functioning adult, an officer and a gentleman.  Now he likes being a dinosaur’s tongue and yells for Sam to come and change his toy’s color.  Terrific.

This episode was much better than the last one. I liked both plots equally. I've lived in a small town and there are people like Mr. Farnsby who obsess over every regulation. I was on Nigel's side regarding the canceled wedding Isaac should have given him whatever he wanted. I hope the writers figure out a way for the ghosts at Woodstone and the Farnsby's house to meet. I wonder how Bjorn would react to Thorfinn and Flower together.

Speaking of which, there's no way a dinosaur bed is meant for 2 people/ghosts.  It would probably be a toddler-sized bed, but certainly no bigger than twin-sized, which would only fit one person comfortably.

Just sitting here thinking about how Isaac ran away through a door back in season one when Nigel asked him to share his cot, and now here they were, very close to sharing a child's dinosaur bed :p.

Yes, Isaac was an officer when alive, and an attorney, and he was married and involved in politics (or atl east, on the outskirts of being involved :p).

But that also tells me that he likely was one of those people who had to become an adult really fast, even before he was an actual adult. And he was also a very awkward person who struggled to make friends and felt like he never really fit in and never really could be comfortable with who he was.

So it makes total sense to me that he's reacting to this dinosaur thing as he is. It's his way of finally getting to indulge in a more innocent, carefree, childlike sort of interest in something, and it's something he can have fun with and not have to worry about how others feel about it. Yes, he wanted Nigel to share his interest, but that was just 'cause, well, it would've been something he and Nigel could've bonded over.

Plus, given the role the whole dinosaur thing played in his bachelor party, to where he literally wanted a stripper to make dinosaur noises, I think this also highlights how he's still kind of working out his fascination with this whole dinosaur thing. One minute it's this silly litlte fascination for him, the next...well...he's turned on by a stripper going on about dinosaurs :p. Just so many layers going on here, LOL.

Plus, on a general level, there's also the show's running joke of the ghosts acting like overgrown children and Sam and Jay being their long-suffering parents. So in that context Isaac calling for Sam to turn on the light is just playing into that.

Yeah, I tend to theorize that Isaac was the first relationship he had where he really had this deeper connection with him. I can totally see him being the sort to have casual relationships and flings - the whole thing with him and Jenkins implies as much - for various reasons. Maybe there was a relationship or two in there that nearly became more serious, or was serious, but didn't wokr out for whatever reason. Either way, I think he just wanted to be careful and not risk getting his heart broken. And then along came Isaac, who he fell for and who did just that, both literally and figuratively.

And yet, he cares about him enough to still want to work things out, because they have this deeper bond and because for as much as Isaac frustrates him and drives him nuts (and vice versa), that's also part of what draws them to each other and also one of the reasons they click as they do. One of those, "You're the only one I will put up with htis nonsense from" sorts of things :p.

Was that a gaffe, or was that just Isaac being, well, Isaac :p?

I was handling laundry while watching, so will need to do a proper viewing later, because I was mostly fixated on things:

Nigel could only study dinosaurs with Sam's help, or maybe Trevor (as has been noted).  Neither one brought that up?

As someone who won't even share a queen size bed (a king, grudgingly, but I'd still rather you take your ass home) with another human, all I could think about while looking at that silly bed was how Isaac and Nigel and then Baxter and Carol were supposed to share it.  There's a reason beyond the dinosaur it's a kid's bed -- it's made for one person!

The orgyversary amused me.

Alberta's reactions are particularly on point this season, but they need to give her an episode in which she does more than that pretty soon.

This being American television, I'm sure Isaac and Nigel will reconcile romantically at some point, but for now I'll enjoy them acknowledging they moved too quickly (love Nigel's body count as compared to Isaac's) and agreeing to be friends.

Enough with Prime product placement.

I'm a full fledged adult and I want a bed like that-- though yes, definitely bigger than a twin. Some of us are just whimsical. I looked around online and I saw aa bulldozer bed which I also really liked.

I'm not buying any furniture. And the bed I actually have is a futon, very plain.

But I think it's a lot of fun to think about and I don't think it's offensive.

I concede that the show is probably making a joke about how childish the ghosts are. But I also think Nigel indulging it and treating Isaac's dinosaur fascination with dignity is awesome, not a joke.

Yeah, I meant to mention that.  First Abbott Elementary, and now Ghosts.  Doesn't seem like people are unaware that Amazon sells stuff that it delivers, but I'm not a marketing expert.  And maybe it replaces more actual commercials.

Tracker did it also, two weeks ago. I figured it was a CBS thing once i saw tonight. What channel is Abbott Elementary on?

He is kind of becoming just that and nothing else though, just a grown man acting like a child.  It would be whimsical if Isaac also did other, serious things (like discussing Plato alongside whether fish have nightmares), but he doesn’t anymore, does he?

Just because we aren't seeing him do that doesn't mean he isn't. I imagine we'll likely get to a point with him on here where he figures out how to balance this dinosaur fascination alongside everything else he's interested in.

I like when the Farnsby's show up; it's nice to see Cousin Larry playing the antagonist!

I think Jay's contractor is responsible for replacing the pipes in the restaurant.  The plans called for 1" pipe and he installed 3/4" pipe.  His mistake, his cost to make it right!  Also, you never finish the walls before the inspector has signed off on the plumbing.  Jay, find a better contractor; this guy is costing you an arm and a leg! lol

If you like, but I doubt he has anything to do with television advertising.  It's more silly than annoying to me.  Showing a character enjoying a can of Coke might cause someone to drink one from their fridge, necessitating buying more, but I'm not sure that seeing an Amazon package on TV would have the same result.

Speaking of Coke, my local theaters are both AMC, and there is a commercial for Coke showing directly before the movie starts.

2 issues I have with that:

1) Does Coca Cola really think people are going to rush out to buy a coke just as the movie is starting?

2) The end of the ad shows a woman in a movie theater drinking a Coke from an open glass to make it look more appetizing, but bears no actual relationship to the way you would actually want to drink a soda in a darkened theater.

The ad:

Exactly! It's Mark who can't afford/doesn't want to replace the pipes, not Jay.  Perhaps if Mark had to do it, he wouldn't have the money to pay his workers.  But I assume that the "wrong" pipe could be resold or used in a different job where it is the appropriate diameter.

Also, why would Jay want to have Farnsby holding this information over his head forever?  Because he's so loyal and trustworthy?

Plus Isaac, let's not forget, was an attorney, so he was educated and cultured.  Yes, the bed does seem pretty weird, though I also agree with those of you who felt Isaac's obsession with it was a reaction against the way he'd had to live his life.

I had the same thought about Nigel saying "It's a free country--thanks to you"--funny but it didn't make much sense.  The colonists complained about British tyranny but that was primarily about taxation without representation.  Other than that, I think colonial society was pretty much like Britain's, which was freer than most of those on the Continent at that time, and in most aspects of daily life in America, the Brits didn't interfere nearly as much as they did in, say, India.  In fact, I could imagine Nigel saying, "It's a free country--thanks to us."  But maybe he meant "free" in the sense of "independent," which does make sense.

I was genuinely touched by what Nigel did.  I really can't imagine Isaac having been able to do something that thoughtful and loving.  It just wouldn't have occurred to him.

I agree that Nigel probably had a  WTF?!? moment when he found out the bed was a wedding gift. In fact, when we saw the bed in the shed, Nigel seemed to be standing there awkwardly, as if to say, "So now we're stuck with this monstrosity cluttering up our living space?"  It's perhaps telling that his reaction was not that it was ugly or bizarre.  He just said, "It's a stupid bed!"  Yeah, kinda.

So we have acknowledgment that Carol is still around . . . somewhere. I don't think I ever noticed that Baxter has something sticking out of him. A bayonet? I couldn't make out what it was. If I knew before this, I forgot.

I found it hard to believe Jay would take the bed apart again after all the time it took him to put it together, and move it down to the shed to rebuild it. Even if he only had to disassemble part of it to move it, he had better things to do.

Speaking of which, the scene where Jay is putting the bed together and he's surrounded by ghosts kind of creeped me out a little. As funny as this show is, at times I'm reminded there's a rather disturbing concept behind it. Although he might assume as such at any given moment, Jay has no way of knowing the room he's in is filled with ghosts, watching him and commenting on what he's doing. He's just entertainment to them. And that's just weird to think about. Makes me wonder if there are ghosts standing behind me right now, watching me type this and commenting on what I'm writing.

It's not uncommon for people to become obsessed with a new interest, and the dinosaur thing is relatively new for Isaac.

Yes, it's a bayonet.  When he first appeared in season 1 I didn't notice it either, until I saw some stills and rewatched a few clips on YouTube.  Others have mentioned that they missed it at first, too.  You'd think you'd notice something like that immediately, right?  And then of course once he stopped piping Nigel in and out of the mansion we never saw him again until the end of season 3, so it would've been easy to forget.  I imagine it would make intimacy a bit challenging for him and Carol.

This episode was a lot of fun, I would honestly still be pretty excited about a dinosaur bed, although I would probably end up having several very weird dinosaur based dreams in there. I'm so glad that Nigel and Isaac finally talked and Isaac really apologized, they really needed that. I am really glad that they decided to be friends, and whether or not this leads to them getting back together (crossing my fingers for yes) I am really happy that they're on good terms again.

Its sweet that Nigel learned so much about dinosaurs so that he could talk to Isaac about them, as silly as Isaac's dinosaur obsession is I found that moment to be very sincere.

Its always fun to see the Farnsbys. I feel like every small town or area has that One Guy who is way too obsessed with ordinances, and of course its Mr. Farnsby who has nothing better to do than bug Jay about his kitchen dream.

Loved the call back to Isaac's new hairstyle, which obviously everyone loved.

"Because that person you were both attracted and related to was sad?"

Since Pete can go off of the grounds (which he proclaims every 20 seconds), can't he shuttle messages back and forth?  And can't the son leave the house?  Thor can.  Couldn't they meet at the property boundary?  So many ghost rules!

I know this was discussed once before, and if I remember correctly, the two properties don't actually touch.  Another property is in between.  That's why they have to be on the upper floors, so they have a clear view/earshot.
