And now they're losing their minds on social media.  In a piece detailing the right's meltdown over Mamdani's win, Mother Jones described the Islamaphobic vitriol from Stefanik, Loomer, Kirk, etc. and when they got to Santos and his call to vote for Adams in the general election, they added a great zinger:

Quote

Disgraced ex-Rep. George Santos also called Mamdani a “jihadist sympathizer” in a post urging New Yorkers to reelect Mayor Eric Adams—a Democrat who will be running as an Independent—in November. Santos will have no chance to vote himself, given that he reports to prison a month from Wednesday to serve an 87-month sentence for wire fraud and identity theft.

Former House Whip, Rep. Jim Clyburn (D-SC) endorsed Cuomo. WTAF? Why the hell would he chime in on the NYC Mayoral primary, especially to endorse a disgraced former Governor?

At this point I can count the number of House and Senate Democrats who don't need to be primaried on one hand. (OK, slight hyperbole; but not much.)

Protesters force Jeff Bezos to change wedding plans

https://www.rawstory.com/protesters-force-jeff-bezos-to-change-wedding-plans/

Amazon.com founder Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez on Tuesday relocated their upcoming lavish Venice wedding celebration, a move cheered as an "enormous victory" by protesters whose recent demonstrations in the northeastern Italian city have highlighted the socioeconomic and climate damage caused by billionaires.

The nuptial celebration has been relocated from the Scuola Grande della Misericordia to the Arsenale di Venezia, a historic fortified palace about 3 kilometers (1.8 miles) away from the original location. Officials cited concerns for the security of guests including several members of U.S. President Donald Trump's family.

Members of groups including No Space for Bezos, Greenpeace Italy, and Everyone Hates Elon—which targets Elon Musk, the world's richest person—have staged a series of demonstrations, including one on Monday at which protesters laid out a massive banner with Bezos' face and the message "If You Can Rent Venice for Your Wedding You Can Pay More Tax" in Piazza San Marco.

Responding to the celebration's relocation, Tommaso Cacciari of No Space for Bezos told the BBC Wednesday: "We are very proud of this! We are nobodies, we have no money, nothing! We're just citizens who started organizing and we managed to move one of the most powerful people in the world," Cacciari added.

What does this really help? Not that they are wrong, he should pay more taxes and probably have his wedding party in the US, to support the US economy.

From the washington post:

National Security White House to limit intelligence sharing, skip Gabbard at Senate Iran briefing

Top officials will brief lawmakers on Thursday amid a political battle over what intelligence reveals about the damage to Iran’s nuclear facilities. Yesterday at 7:42 p.m. ET Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth speaks during a news conference following the NATO summit in The Hague on June 25. (Omar Havana/Getty Images) By Emily Davies, Theodoric Meyer and Dan Lamothe The White House plans to limit classified intelligence sharing with Congress after leaks to the press of an early assessment undermined President Donald Trump’s claim that U.S. airstrikes obliterated Iranian nuclear facilities, a senior Trump administration official said, setting the stage for a contentious classified briefing before senators Thursday. Amid a political battle over what the intelligence shows, the White House is expected to send four of its top national security officials to brief lawmakers: Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, CIA Director John Ratcliffe and Gen. Dan Caine, the chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, administration officials said. Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard, who testified in March that U.S. intelligence agencies assessed that Iran was not building a nuclear weapon, will be notably absent. “Ratcliffe will represent the intelligence community,” the senior Trump administration official said of Gabbard’s absence, speaking on the condition of anonymity to discuss plans not yet made public. “The media is turning this into something it’s not.”

Does it actually help? Probably not. It seems that many people, not just here in our country, are growing more restless with the obscene flaunting of wealth by such a very small group of people. I fear we (this country) are reaching a boiling point re the distribution of wealth being so very obvious. Protests surely could not hurt; it is the only way to begin change. (like that will ever happen - sadly)

Bezos and his fiance? They show that having money does not give one even an ounce of class. Or make them a better person. Just ask his underpaid employees.

I suspect that part of the reason for Venice, besides the destinationist of it all, is that poorer people won’t fly over to protest?  Well, at least we know Bezos can afford it.

No, this whole wedding is a flex for Bezos (and also part of him and his fiancee subjecting the rest of the world to their kink). He has the money to hire advisors that could have found him an island somewhere that would have afforded privacy. There's also a pretty well known list of places fed up with American tourists with a populace ready to protest that includes Venice. Which should not really be a surprise since Europeans will protest just about anything and they have the time.

I hope they at least ask their guests to not give them gifts but instead donate to a charity.

Bezo's ex wife has done so much good with her money and we have Bezo spending a ridiculous amount of money on what I predict will be a tacky wedding.

Gotta love Crockett! This gave me a morning chuckle (the bolded part at the end):

Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas) took a swipe at Donald Trump and Republicans during a House Judiciary Committee hearing on Wednesday by throwing some pointed shade at first lady Melania Trump and her immigration path to the U.S.

Crockett, during a hearing titled “Restoring Integrity and Security to the Visa Process,” argued that “the idea that Trump and my Republican colleagues want to restore integrity and security in the visa process is actually a joke.”

The lawmaker first slammed Trump-era immigration tactics, saying:

“Integrity isn’t snatching lawful visa holders off the streets and throwing them into unmarked vans. Integrity is not revoking visas based on social media posts that hurt somebody’s little feelings, because kids decided they want to go after Trump or this administration. We have a thing called free speech in this country.”

Then she got personal about the president:

And since we’re talking about integrity, I’m confused as to why my Republican colleagues aren’t talking about the lack of integrity when it comes to the president’s family’s visas. Melania, the first lady — a model, and when I say model, I’m not talking Tyra Banks, Cindy Crawford or Naomi Campbell-level — applied for and was given an EB-1 visa.”

To gain an “Einstein visa,” as the EB-1 is also called, noted Crockett, “you’re supposed to have some sort of significant achievement, like being awarded a Nobel Peace Prize or a Pulitzer, being an Olympic medalist, or having other sustained extraordinary abilities and success in sciences, arts, education, business or athletics.”

“Last time I checked, the first lady had none of those accolades under her belt,” she said. “It doesn’t take an Einstein to see that the math ain’t mathin’ here.”

Libertarian Cato Institute analyst Alex Nowrasteh attempted a lighthearted defense of the first lady.

“Not everybody could marry Donald Trump and I think that’s quite an achievement, so I think she deserves credit for that,” he quipped, adding: “Nobody up here could have done it.”

Crockett laughed. “You sure are right,” she replied. “I couldn’t do it.”

Ok so they requested no gifts but they are donating to Venice charities.  Not that there is anything wrong with those charities but I guess it's too much to ask them to donate to charities closer to home.

I read a lot of Britlit and one very common theme is the difference between the gentry and the nouveau riche. People like Trump and Bezos being classic examples of the "money can't buy class" types so despised in these books. Starting to see why.

Class is something you definitely can't buy.  And you can't teach it.  You either have it or you don't. Another thing Trump and Bezos have in common is they both act like they are self made men who came from nothing.  We know Trump grew up rich and went into the family business and still went bankrupt multiple times but Bezos's parents invested $300 K.

And as I wade into the shallow pool what are we expecting Lauren's dress to look like?

Of course I don't know Bezos personally, but my lived experience tells me that Jeff hasn't figured out that in all likelihood, Lauren is not in love with him. Most likely it's his money that attracted her to him. 🤷‍♀️

I am envisioning something where the Girls are on full display. I can't decide on how full the skirt will be. I think it will either be a full princess skirt or something bodycon, maybe a mermaid silhouette.

Melania was asked if she was with Trump because of his money and she responded would he be with me if I didn't look the way I do.  I'm guessing Lauren Sanchez isn't that honest.  Wonder the terms of the prenup.  And by the way Lauren if he cheats with you he will cheat on you.

"Einstein visa"? It would more accurately be called the Epstein visa.

How many dresses throughout the day are we thinking? Because you know it isn’t going to be just one, or just one for the wedding and one for the reception. 4? 5?

I had 3, 1 for the ceremony, 1 for the reception and one for when the seaplane picked up at the end of the dock. We had a 2 hour gap between the church reception and the one at my parent's club. We went and watched the Kentucky Derby at a tavern. I took it as a good omen that a filly won for the first time in like 80 years.

RIP to one of the last great true journalists of our time. Rest well, good sir. Bill Moyers, dead at 91.

June 26 (Reuters) - Bill Moyers, a key member of Democratic President Lyndon Johnson's inner circle and later a guiding force in American journalism during more than 40 years in public television, has died at the age of 91, the Washington Post reported on Thursday.

At a time when critics said broadcast news was becoming fluffier and shallower, Moyers pursued a thoughtful, in-depth approach, bringing an intellectual perspective delivered in a soothing Texas twang.

The Reuters Tariff Watch newsletter is your daily guide to the latest global trade and tariff news. Sign up here.

He took an activist approach to the job and The Nation magazine called him a "radical presence" in broadcast news, which his critics said was proof that the Public Broadcasting Service network should not get federal funding.

Starting in 1971, Moyers had regular shows on public television, including "Bill Moyers' Journal," "Now With Bill Moyers," "Moyers on America" and "Moyers and Company," as well limited-run series on the U.S. Constitution, faith and mythology.

Among the other topics he explored at length on his shows were poverty, racism, money in politics, climate change, income inequality, the shortcomings of the media and what he called the "pirates and predators of Wall Street."

"He used the tools of the documentarian to wield a velvet sledgehammer, bludgeoning corporate polluters and government ne'er-do-wells with precision and grace," New York Times media columnist David Carr

Capitol Police Zip Tie Seniors in Wheelchairs During Medicaid Protest

Capitol Police officers were seen zip-tying the hands of senior citizens in wheelchairs on Wednesday during protests against proposed Medicaid cuts.

Video shows one officer tightening a zip tie over the wrists of one man in a wheelchair, featuring what appeared to be a communication aid screen, next to a senior woman already zip-tied. A second man in a wheelchair was also shown with his hands zip-tied.
