Chit-Chat: The Feels

And people are still doubling down on their 3rd party/no vote.  They feel so so proud that they stuck to their principles and didn't vote for those corporate shilling Democrats.  Let Trump run it all to the ground that will teach us for allegedly screwing over Bernie in 2016 (HE DIDN'T HAVE THE VOTES!).

To the 3rd/nos, what is their endgame? Do they want a complete collapse of the government and the economy? And then if that happens what do we rebuild? A Democratic Socialist paradise or an Autocratic one because when governments collapse it tends to be the latter.  These people love referencing the French revolution.  Woohoo we sent a bunch of rich people to the guillotine but then what happened when the revolutionaries turned on each other?  Fucking Napoleon is what happened.  It's one thing to want to radically change things up but have a long term plan.

Social media amplifies the worst voices. These people might be a minority, but they got used to the fact that the more loud and obnoxious they are, the more spotlight they get. Most of them probably don't have answers, just feelings and the desire to be edgy. Revolutions and wars are things that happen to other people, from poor shithole countries (they can talk about inclusiveness and uplifting voices from all backgrounds, but everyone who frequently encounters them on internet can see how little they actually think about people from other countries and backgrounds), so if they don't have parents or grandparents who were immigrants from countries destroyed by authoritarian politicians  and revolutions, they have no real frame of reference for it. For all I know it might be like a videogame to them, or a post-apocalyptic fatasy book.

Also, all these French revolution stans seem to conveniently forget that one part of it is called Reign of Terror.

The same goes for the civil war stans, who were threatening liberals, if trump lost.

I saw video last night, about the execution of a Romanian president in 1989. There were people wishing for that to happen here. I didn't watch on Youtube, I just found this.

I remember when that happened.   I swear the rest of the world just shrugged it's shoulders.

That poor kid. I hope she wins!

Trump played a video in the oval office while the SA President was there about white genocide. I am so embarrassed for this country, I could go live in a cave.

Remember when the gestapo feds arrested the mayor of Newark, and then dropped the charges?  Prosecutors didn't bother to tell the judge, who found out in the media.  As Mayor Baraka was heard, on a hot mic, saying after today's hearing formally dismissing the charges, the judge "tore these people a new asshole".  Federal judge Andre Espinosa reprimanded the prosecutors for more than five minutes.  Highlights:

Quote

The hasty arrest of Newark Mayor Ras Baraka, followed swiftly by the dismissal of these trespassing charges a mere 13 days later, suggests a worrying misstep by your office.  An arrest, particularly of a public figure, is not a preliminary investigative tool. It is a severe action, carrying significant reputational and personal consequences, and it should only be undertaken after a thorough, dispassionate evaluation of credible evidence.

Quote

Federal prosecutors serve a single paramount client: justice itself.  Your role is not to secure convictions at all costs, nor to satisfy public clamor, nor to advance political agendas. Your allegiance is to the impartial application of the law, to the pursuit of truth, and to the upholding of due process for all.

My thoughts for anyone clutching pearls: WHITE MEN ARE NOT VILLAINS. It just so happens that when you find a villain, it’s usually a white guy. Teaching inclusivity doesn’t mean alienation of white people. For God’s sake, I didn’t learn about the Tulsa bombing at any level of school. I found out in the first episode of Watchmen.

If we’re going to have a new reality show, how about people competing for the privilege of punching YKW in his mush? You’d get millions is applications for that.

Trump lecturing the black president of South Africa about a white genocide is truly a repulsive thing.  And the crazy thing is Trump and his supporters really believe it.

I knew there was going to be a price to pay for Obama being president because racism is alive and well in this country but I had no idea it would get this bad.

Last night on my local news they did a story about more DEI policies being eliminated and they framed it as now things will be more fair and equal.  The gaslighting continues.

What is the rationale behind Trump not stepping up to help the communities affected by tornadoes?  It can't just be because he only helps red states or because he wants the governors to beg.  So far in his sorry excuse for an administration has he done anything for any area affected by a natural disaster?

And why aren't the governors or any rep from these states on TV or SM yelling loudly, "We need help, President Trump!!!" Why won't you help us??? People are dying!!!"

And why isn't the main stream media making more of this compounded disaster of not aiding those is dire disaster zones???

Our AG is suing the Trump admin. on about ten different things, our governor has told ICE to shove it. The media is too cowardly and money grubbing to have a go at the pres. I mean, they look at what happened to CBS and it's like George Costanza in  the pool.

Exactly.  I see people pointing fingers at Biden, at Harris, and George Clooney for godssake, and flailing around trying to assign blame for Trump's election anywhere but at the feet of an electorate who decided they'd rather have a felon in office than a black woman.

I don't see myself "flailing around". If Biden had only kept his word that he would be a transition president (& that's the impression he gave us, meaning he was going to serve a term to restore our country after the hell we'd all been through with Trump), we could've had primaries & chosen a candidate the old fashioned way...in the voting booths. I remember seeing a cellphone video at an outdoor spring 2024 WH function where Biden was having a nice chat with guests. All of a sudden he started sternly talking about fixing some roads, as if he were campaigning, almost yelling. Aides came over & escorted him back inside the WH. The Biden family & aides knew exactly what shape he was in & in no way was he able to run for re-election.

I showed my son a scene from The Sound of Music this evening after I caught him walking around with his arm raised in a certain position.  He.  Had.  ZERO.  Idea.  In fact, I freaked out to the point that I made him cry.  He's had exposure to the Holocaust at school, but it was taught at a level six year olds could understand.  He just knows that some very bad people took Jews (and other people) away and that many died.  He didn't connect that that sign was bad.

The scene in question was when the kids were rehearsing for the festival these guys came in to speak with Max.  And the guys saluted Max.

Aww, poor little guy! I'm really curious, how would the subject of Jews in WW2 even come up in a class full of six year olds? That seems so terribly young to me, but I know kids are exposed to everything so much earlier than I was at that age.

They start Holocaust education early and may have already been exposed.  Also, many of the children at the school are Jewish or have relatives who are, including Holocaust survivors.

Good on you PRgal for educating him.  I can't say I wouldn't do the same thing if it was mine.  It's why we need to make sure this stuff doesn't get erased.

At least where I was in Southern California Holocaust education didn't happen in elementary school. I was 10 when Schindler's List came out. I asked about the movie's subject matter and my parents gave me the details.  Needless to say 10 year old me was horrified.  We didn't see the movie in the theaters but I was allowed to watch it when it came out on VHS.

New week, new Trump crypto grift.

Also, last week I read an article that reported that since the $Trump meme coin was released on January 17th, DJT'S earnings had increased by more than $1 billion PER MONTH!

Let the money laundering in the new laundromat begin!

Trump’s New Partner For Crypto Venture Is KuCoin — An Exchange Banned In U.S., Fined $300 Million For Money Laundering

Donald Trump’s crypto venture launched its stablecoin Wednesday on an exchange recently banned from the United States after admitting to violating anti-money laundering laws and agreeing to pay a $300 million fine.

Sometimes, I wonder if things would've been better had he actually won in 2020. After his loss, he spent the next four years gearing up to be even worse than ever, and the lunatic right wing designed plans around it. But I figure 2021-2025 would've been as big a demoralizing slog as 2017-2021, and Republicans would've have at least considered giving him a third term. Of course, going for that means Obama would have to step into the ring (regardless of whether he'd want to come back), and that's one fight the GOP wouldn't want to see play out.

I have had these thoughts many times over the past several months. It is obvious now that for 4 long years he was stewing and plotting his revenge. I hate to say that it reminds me of when Hitler was thrown in jail and wrote "Mein Kampf" after his failed coup. When he got out he was more prepared and determined than ever. Both that and Project 2025 were like the blueprint for what was to come in each case, and made what was to come even worse than it might have been without them.

On 5/20/2025 at 8:33 PM, StatisticalOutlier said:

I wish the people who protected Trump from himself during his first term hadn't done so.  I know they thought they were doing the right thing, and it seemed like the end of the world then, but it wasn't.  What we have now is far worse, and keeping Trump from acting on his worst instincts disguised who he truly was and what he truly wanted and just how insane he is.

It would have been awful, of course, but it's hard to imagine how it could be worse than it is now.  And there's the chance that back then, people would see who he really is, like they are doing now, at a time when they weren't as deep in the maga delusion as they are now.

I have also had these thoughts many times as well. In his first term there were people to keep him from going too far off the rails and he mostly let them do it. Plus he was editing himself because he wanted a second term and he probably thought he needed to hide who he really was to some degree to win. I think this is when many of his followers were fooled into thinking he had their best interests at heart and that he really wanted to do some good for the country. He lied and they bought the lies. And now forget getting them to realize that.

Then, to cement their allegiance, they were told that the lie was that Trump was anything negative and it was a big left wing conspiracy to get them to think he was a bad guy. So they are blind to it now. It's really certifiably insane at this point. But such a good job was done on these people that they are now too far into the MAGA delusion as you referred to it to see reality with him. Again, like Nazi Germany, there were many German citizens that still had allegiance to Hitler even after Germany was reduced to pile of rubble because of him. Their entire lives were in ruins but even when confronted with the facts they still could not see how he was responsible.

Oh, and trump is a petty vindictive little narcissist who wants to punish anybody who isn’t enough of an arselicker or who dares to hold him to account.

And you still don’t think he’s a danger to democracy?

And for the record, to 86 someone means to remove them, not specifically to kill them. But since MAGA are so keen to jump to conclusions, perhaps we just use 2547 instead.

Maybe Jordan Klepper will do (or has done?) interviews at MAGA gatherings where he asks passersby what they think of democracy.

The lefts message since trump took office is we are doing all we can to stop a dictator from taking over. The guy trying to MAGA by consolidating all power in the president.

The republican message has been maybe he's crazy but he's better than Biden and let's just let him do whatever he pleases and ignore the courts.

The democrats did eventually remove Biden from running another term.

Republicans meanwhile do nothing to curb trumps power.

So you would have preferred he resign and Harris took over ?  Don't act like maga wouldn't have b****** endlessly about that too.

My opinion is democrats never should have run Biden last year at all and had an open primary without him. That was a huge mistake.  And we are all paying for it.
