I have lost count of the amount of times I've had this same kind of thought. Cannot happen soon enough, as far as I'm concerned.

Anywho, thanks, Trump supporters, for letting this guy get back into the White House. Really doing a bang up job with our economy - you know, that thing you supposedly cared so much about when Biden was in office and which was supposedly the reason you just HAD to vote for this asshole again?

(The fact we're not hearing a peep of outrage from them about everything Trump's been doing to our economy (and our national security) just further proves how incredibly full of shit the "economy" reason truly was, obviously, but yeah. Just saying.)

I know. I brought that up the other day, with a few people, when I remembered someone who I thought was anti-MAGA (and another one who was planning to move out of the country, last November), laid into me about January 6th happening because of economic anxiety. It was never about that.

To be fair, lots of people seem to embrace that scheme.  Every time they thank God for saving them from some disaster, I wonder, "Who do they think made that disaster?"

...wow.

I just...I can't understand how someone gets to where that kind of thought process (and I use that term loosely) makes any sort of sense to them.

I always think about the people who didn't survive those disasters - so, what, I guess God didn't care about them as much or wasn't as interested in sparing their lives, then?

Economic anxiety is what racists and sexists want their racism and sexism to be.called.

Well a whole bunch of them think gay people and abortionists cause disasters.  Pat Robertson told them that.

One reason why I'm an atheist.  I could never get behind the idea that there was a god who would pick and choose which sick kids would live or die.

In 2017, one MAGA woman implied that natural disasters, like hurricanes, were hurting people because of the protests against trump. No explanation for why so many MAGA members are hurt in these same disasters.

Anyone who had Gretchen Whitmer on their bingo card for 2028 you just lost

Big Gretch was at the WH yesterday to work with Gramps on MI issues and listen to him praise her then watch him sign EO‘s to have the DOJ investigate Chris Krebs and Miles Taylor

I’m going to be generous and assume she didn’t know he was going to do the EOs when she was there. But yikes.

Although I am so over the same useless idiots that didn’t vote because “Democrats didn’t earn it” pitching bitchfits over Democrats trying to navigate how to get things done when the voters literally tied their hands. We don’t have the senate, house, or executive, and even when the courts step in, Trump is just disregarding them and the Supreme Court is enabling them so what exactly can be done here?! People seriously need to take responsibility for this, and I’m not just talking about the ones that voted for Trump.

To be sure if she does run in 2028 her Democratic rivals also running will use this against her.  She did look like she really didn't want to be there but Trump praising her definitely isn't going to help. Being a Democrat that Trump shows some love to is like the kiss of death.   See John Fetterman in two years.

Democratic voters always assume Democrats will clean up the Republican messes.  But that is hard to do when you have fascists running the show right now.

So Trump signs an executive order that is supposed to strengthen the coal industry.  And then raises tariffs on China to astronomical levels.  You know who buys most of our coal?  China.  In my state the media was all over the executive order praising Trump.  And now about the Chinese tariffs?  Crickets.  A former coworker used to say it's too bad being stupid doesn't hurt.

Trump administration accused of insider trading after stocks soar.

“THIS IS A GREAT TIME TO BUY,” Mr Trump wrote on Truth Social at 9:37am in the morning.

tweet.png.5b49bc1b51d6168ac5995200ceefdf22.png

There was a spike in Nasdaq call volume, where traders buy the right to purchase a share at a certain price before a certain date, in the hour before the president announced his U-turn.

Outraged Democrats suggested the president had tipped off his “billionaire” allies before showing his hand, and driving the S&P 500 to its biggest rise since 2008.

Call for ‘insider trading’ investigation.

Adam Schiff, a Democrat senator in California, said: “I’m writing to the White House to demand who knew in advance that the president was gonna once again flip flop on tariffs? And are people cashing in?

“There is just all too much opportunity for people in the White House and the administration to be insider trading.”

Elizabeth Warren, the former presidential candidate and Massachusetts senator, added: “Right before Donald Trump declared that some of his tariffs were off again, he sent out a message to his billionaire buddies.

“Was that market manipulation? Was that corruption in plain sight? We need an independent investigation.”

If I ever go back to Europe while this tool is in the WH, I'll just say I'm Canadian (😎🇨🇦). It is too embarrassing now to step outside the USA 🤬

I'm going in a few months and yes,  I will be from Edmonton over there. Go Oilers!! My son is a big hockey fan/player so he can turn/carry any conversation.

Seriously, I bought red maple leaf pins, for our luggage,  stickers for my purse,  and hats with a red maple leaf insignia.

Now, I just have to practice my accent, eh?

How do you want them to take responsibility?

What on earth made him pause the tariffs?  I know it can't be that someone talked him into it.  Is today Opposite Day?

Apparently it was Japan. They said that the US bond market was "not a great place to do business."  They hold the most US treasury bonds and everyone was afraid of a sell-off and a global financial crisis.

Admitting that they were wrong and that they made a bad choice that helped make everything worse and quit acting like they're so morally superior to everyone for not voting. Oh, and actually LEARN the lesson this time so we don't keep repeating the cycle.

But they won't. They just keep doubling down and playing the victims.

In a similar but not exact thing -here in Canada we have an election coming up and it's, as it ALWAYS is, going to be a choice between the Liberals and the Conservatives.  This time though it's also between the forces of good and the forces of evil.  But is that stopping the NDP and the Green Party from trying to get as many votes as they can?  Of course it isn't.  Even though those votes would be for the Liberals otherwise.

I don't have a problem with other parties getting votes and getting some seats in the House under normal circumstances.  But this election is not under normal circumstances, far from it.  And I am so angry at this "one's as bad as the other so I'll take my vote elsewhere" attitude.

The same Dems who didn't vote for Hillary in 2016 are probably a lot of the same Dems who didn't vote for Kamala.  They might say they didn't vote for Kamala because of Gaza but I honestly think they weren't going to vote for her no matter what.

I am so fucking tired of the both sides are the same bullshit.  Are Democrats perfect? Absolutely not.  But would the stock market be on a roller coast ride if Kamala had won? Absolutely not.  I know there are voters who don't want to vote for the "lesser of two evils" but when one candidate is in fact truly evil you not voting is in fact a vote for the more evil one.

I echo your "holy shit" but can't really say I'm surprised to learn of this.

While everyone has heard about Peter Thiel's, Marc Andreessen's, et.al. Greenland plans, they and other billionaires are also planning Freedom Cities, independent, self-governing city-states within the US; taking over The Presidio in S.F., another location in northern California, Tennessee, Musk in Texas; they're all going to need independent power sources.

Building Freedom Cities

The idea, which Donald Trump supports, could play an important role in American revitalization.

Whelp, a quick google search tells me that because of the NRC, it is still impossible for US citizens to own uranium or plutonium without a special license.  So there's that?

ETA:  for me, it's Tom Hanks drank the blood of a bald eagle in the pantry of a Marxist pizzeria.

What would a Marxist pizzeria sell, anyway?  Crappy pies with crust with crappy sauce and cheese?

He wants to be a dictator so bad let him and when he is deposed he will stand in front of a firing squad.  Or they could recycle those gallows we saw on January 6th. I'm comfortable with either one.

For no particular reason I find myself looking enviously at those old photos of Italians coming together to watch Benito Mussolini and his mistress Clara swinging upside down in a gentle Milanese breeze.
