Here's Jon Stewart going over Friday's fiasco. I finally got to see right wing media's reaction . . . and they did not flinch in painting Zelenskyy as the villain. Also, way too many attempts to draw a parallel to Jon Cena's "heel-turn." First of all, when is wrestling newsworthy? Secondly, we all know Trump is the bad guy. Cena has done more "Make a Wish" requests than anyone. Trump would only do that if a dying child's greatest wish was to set a homeless man on fire.

Jon's been back on my radar ever since he started pointing his vitriol back in the correct direction.  The Matthew Desmond interview was great.  I want to read that book even if it will spike my blood pressure big time.

As to what the Democrats do during State of the Union I would love to see disruptions and/or walkouts.  I would also like to see the old and young guard finally get together and come up with a joint message to mobilize.  I do agree it's time for Pelosi and Schumer to step aside.

Mr Kat and I have talked about ditching Amazon.  We still have gift card money on there from Christmas but once we're through that we are done.

April 18: A 24-hour economic blackout of all large retailers.

April 21-27: General Mills, whose brands include Betty Crocker, Cheerios, Gold Medal and Pillsbury.

I'm baking one right now. I bake when I'm stressed. It's a Duncan Hines chocolate cake, I'm doing it in a bundt pan. I'm going to make a deconstructed Black Forest cake.

Everything I saw about Friday's boycott was targeted at corporations, with small businesses specifically excluded.  But I think somewhere along the way it started being discussed as a "Don't buy anything anywhere" boycott instead.

I was listening to The Briefing with Steve Scully on Sirius.  Rep Lisa McClain from Michigan was waxing poetic about "President you know who" and how she expects Sen. Slotkin to respond with "gloom and doom" and also when Steve asked her about the federal employees losing their jobs she went on about all the "fraud, waste and abuse" and that the american citizens don't want their money spent on that.  And he didn't ask or remind her that those folks who lost their jobs are also taxpaying American citizens, or at least taxpayers.  She was very dismissive.  And even though I am not from Michigan but I did hear her on a  global network, I wrote a message through her website telling her that.  She also said a lot of other things that indicated to me that she thinks all of this is just grand and may I have another sir.  I wonder what strength KoolAid she was drinking.

Costco is still on the nice list.  They made it clear they are not scrapping DEI policies.

My employer, a major hospital system, is also under the gun for DEI.  Hospitals have been warned that, if they receive any federal money (like Medicare, Medicaid), they better scrap any DEI programs pronto.

We got a message last week informing us that they are reviewing their policies to 'ensure alignment with the evolving legal environment.'  They then said they were folding the former DEI office into the department that handles 'caregiver experience' and make it clear that the policies that made up DEI have been proven to be important in recruiting, expanding and maintaining their caregiver pool and they will keep them on that basis.

The essential message seems to be that they're actually keeping the DEI process, just renaming it to keep the MAGA crowd out of it.

I think that's all they have to do and I wish other business entities would figure this out. Trump's flying monkeys are too stupid and preoccupied with screwing up the country to follow up on anything. Not only that, but they have leveled every agency that might have been handy for doing that. There is nobody home in our government right now.

This war on DEI is just going too far.  I swear unless it's a group of white men it's DEI and must be ended.  Due to the Presiden'ts DEI directives, The U.S. Marine Band (known as The President's Own) has cancelled a concert called the Equity Arc Wind Symphony featuring high school musicans of color who competed for spots to perform and have been practicin for months for the performance.  

Then today I read about a program that lets children who can't walk/stand due to various diseases using harness like things to be able to stand/dance.  However the program may have to close since they are losing their grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.  Because this particular program is for underserviced communities NEA considers it DEI.    Maybe Trump could consider forgoing one of his weekend trips to Florida and contribute the money to this program -  sure just as soon as pigs can fly.

Meanwhile, as Trump  continues to rage at federal workers as incompetent and inefficient he ignores the incompetence and inefficiency of Musk and his merry band of men who continually post "savings" that are found to be false (sometimes by inflated numbers, sometimes listing contracts that ended years ago, sometimes combination of both).  And how efficient is it to fire and then have to rehire workers when you find out what they actually do?  Or fire workers who are actually paid by user fees?  Or fire workers whose job it is to actually find fraud?  

How long will it be before Trump gives bailouts to farmers hurt by the new tarriffs like he did last time?

Well I guess we need to buckle up because we are already retaliating, as far as I am aware there is no if.  Federally and provincially there are going to be consequences. 

And Trump may have actually done the impossible, for the first time that I can remember the leader of the Cons - Poilievre - actually supports the Liberal government.  I may need to sit down for a minute.

I understand why Democrats might not attend, but there should be a vocal backlash. Last year, MTG came out in full MAGA gear to taunt Biden. During one SOTU, someone shouted "YOU LIE!" at Obama. We need something harder than Nancy Pelosi sarcastically clapping or ripping up notes in front of the bastard. Having the moral high ground means nothing. As much as I hate disagreeing with Michelle . . . if they go low, so must we.

I am. My husband woke up from napping just as FIC walked in. I was going to go upstairs to watch something else but went to the restroom first. I heard Democratic dissent and booing. Then a bunch of commotion and admonishment from, I think, Mike Johnston. That weasel was demanding decorum. Several times! I couldn't believe it. They had security walk out some Congressman from Texas. Freedom of speech is no longer tolerated. My BP is probably through the roof right now. I'll check back later to hear the Democratic response.

No, but I was in and out of a political stream that I sometimes watch, so I could find it in the video on demand, if I had to. 
I’m not feeling well, so I had my pancakes for pancake day, and took a nap.  I just went to the kitchen to get some ice water, and also some electrolytes, put that stream on my phone, and then said “I forgot that dipshit was on tonight”. He just came out with something about “the gulf of America”.
