Wow, memories just came screaming back to me. I can't remember if my mom told me that or simply that you couldn't use tampons if you hadn't had sex yet. By the time I was in high school, I decided I wanted to give them a try. I actually had to hide them from my mom. I don't remember how long it took her to find them, but when she did, she sat me down and asked when I started having sex and who with.

Back in the day, Librarians were tasked with showing a film to the 5th grade girls. Mostly about what happens when they start to get their periods.  I will never forget one of the girls - big glasses and red hair.  She was a constant chatterer, always questioning who, what and why about most anything. And a whirling dervish most of the time.  Drove her teachers crazy. I had a soft spot for her - maybe it was the hair and freckles. At the end of the film we would ask if any of them had any questions. When I saw her arm fly up, my heart sank. When called on she practically shrieked "how do you make it stop" ... 😎

I had not thought about this in a while.  It still makes me laugh.

For anyone with pre-teen daughters you might try what I did.  I bought/ordered sample packs from three leading feminine hygiene product companies and put them in the bathroom cabinet.  I simply said try them out and put what you like on the grocery list when it's time. One kid didn't want tampons until college and another one used one or two pads and was they're too gross.  Who am I to tell even a teenager what makes them comfortable or uncomfortable with the lady bits?

I’m watching The Daily Show now. Seeing folks from FNC and Newsmax blame DEI  for the wildfires. You know, because women and minorities are picked over strong white guys. Billions of dollars in damage, lives lost and upended, and we can’t have unity for three straight days.

Months ago, I read a post saying that Kamala was DEI . . . Didn’t Endorse Insurrection. That stuck with me in a good way.

Oh, and I saw a few Fox people blame DEI on the decline of the NBA’s ratings. Fucking how?!?

Sure there's a little more diversity in offices. That's good it means the company isn't just marketing to one faction.  Look at the executive levels of some major businesses and it get homogenized real fast.

But they better get themselves in fighting position. They better not lift a finger to help MAGAs pass anything. Not the budget in March. No crazy confirmation of cabinet members. No letting Trump’s ranting and raving of taking over other countries or changing names of bodies of water or bringing back confederate general’s names to military bases. 
When the war in Ukraine drags on and gets worse because Trump can’t stop it in 24 hours like he promised and cozies up to Putin show Americans what he did.

When the price of eggs goes up show his voters how gullible they are to believe lies that they knew were lies. Make them own it. All of it and make sure voters know who the owners are

Everyday I get emails from someone in the Democratic Party asking me for money. Are you people kidding. I wouldn’t and will not give a cent because I expect you to be weak and if you ever prove me wrong I ‘m still never donating to another candidate. My vote is all you deserve sorry if that’s not good enough.

The majority of the Democrats ran a three month campaign on abortion and democracy instead of going out everyday and running ads all day talking about the economy and immigration. Who knew that’s what average Americans care about. Did you not talk to voters.

I’m one of those people. I’ve posted not long ago that when Roe fell it felt like a death in the family to me . Unbelievable that my two daughters and granddaughter would have less rights than me (save for the fact we live in MN. Unless the republicans find a way to pass a national abortion ban)

My point was that Harris had managed the close the gap between Biden and Trump that she was handed and only lost by just over 1%.

I believe she could have won if she would have counter punched him at every lie and crazy conspiracy over the economy and immigration. Or what the democrats like to call the kitchen table issues. Speak to what the voters who were swayed by him said their #1 issues were and to the voters that sat home

I agree; and it should have won the election for the Dems. But the touted "strong economy" was not trickling down to the majority of people. That, I think, is what cost the Dems the election. They didn't speak enough (or any) to the pain the majority of people were facing at the grocery stores, car dealerships, etc. The Rethugs were more than happy (actually, gleeful) to pounce, lie and exaggerate. That's because leadership really bought in to the whole "when they go low, we go high" rhetoric that only worked for Obama. It also only works in places where the local and state government is not actively trying to kill women and marginalized people. Additionally, they have no counter argument to grocery prices are too high when the root cause of that is corporate greed and the Dems as a whole need their corporate donations.

According to Chuck Schumer Democrats would be open to Trump's desire to change the Gulf of Mexico to the Gulf of America if Trump worked with them on lowering prices.  So I don't think the Democrats, at least the Senate Dems, are going to put up much of a fight.

I think the problem was those two issues are more of abstract issues for a lot of people.  They don't, at least they don't think, they affect them personally. Not caring about issues that affect other people is a real problem.  The lack of empathy is getting worse.

We all know once someone hears a lie and believes it you are most likely not going to change that person's mind with the truth.  Democrats are always playing catch up.  And the media doesn't help.  They broadcast their lies and rarely fact check them. A Democrat misquotes someone or erroneously gives a wrong statistic and they are pounced on for being a liar. It's also different voting bases.  The Republican base wants to be told what they want to be true. Democratic base want to be told the truth.

If you listen to Schumer's tone, he was clearly mocking Trump for focusing on crazy things like this, rather than the real issues that would help average Americans. Schumer knows how ridiculous Trump's musings are and how it's a pipedream to ever get the international cooperation to officially change the name.

Mocking or not I absolutely believe Dems will play ball with Trump.  And it won't be for good things.  You know a lot of us have criticized Lindsay Graham for becoming a Trump supporter. His reason was he needed to stay in power, meaning keep his seat and be relevant.  I think we are going to see some Dems, while not openly support Trump, vote for his cabinet nominees, vote for legislation regarding his agenda and maybe even criticize their fellow Dems.  Most politicians are all about self preservation and they aren't going to care that what Republicans do is going to hurt most Americans.

I just wish it was only the people who voted for him would "find out" what he is going to do. Instead, it will affect all of us.  But at least some of us won't be shocked when it all hits the fans.
