Tuesday is definitely Tim Walz. The campaign announced a media blitz for him. He is doing Fox News on Sunday, 60 Minutes on Monday, a late night show next week and I guess The View!

he does super well in interviews (much better on his feet than Kamala) so this is good news.

I think he's on Kimmel on Monday night??!!

Wow...what a surprise, said no one. 🙄

I was surprised.  And pleased.  I don't normally follow US politics this closely - is it unusual for candidates to appear on shows like The View?  Anyway am definitely looking forward to seeing her as well as Tim Walz at some point hopefully.

When Bill Clinton was running in 1992 he appeared on Arsenio Hall's late night show and some people credit that for helping him win.

Barack Obama appeared on the View in 2008 when he was running.  He also appeared when he was President.

Hillary Clinton appeared on the View in 2016.  And since then a slew of politicians running for office have appeared.

I think it's a win win. Viewers get to see candidates in a different environment and candidates get to do a different type of campaigning.

Pardon me if I missed anything, but I have a massive migraine right now—

Can Alyssa STFU already about Congress having to “work across the aisles” to get help to all those who are in need as a result of Helene and now Florida’s Category 5? Is she being deliberately obtuse? There is one side that vetoed FEMA funding and it isn’t a “both sides” issue.

And I’m so glad that Vice President Harris is finally doing those podcasts that you said she should have been  doing a couple months ago. It’s not as if she has another job that still requires her attention or anything.

Also, Whoopi? Biden isn’t the “acting President”, he IS THE President. JEEBUS CRIPES.

Nice interview with Kamala!  Too funny that she wrote notes to the teachers for a couple kids in the audience.

I cannot wait to get home to watch this!

I don't care what she says she is 100% voting for Trump & is just saying she isn't to avoid the backlash from the others on the show. She tries to play both sides of the coin in every conversation & sometimes the mask will slip.

I tend to agree with you.  Alyssa, at her core, is an ultra-right-winger, who masks it with a pleasant speaking style and a nice smile.  Every once in a while she lets it slip, like that one time she talked about all the 9 month abortions that occur in blue states.  She doesn't fool me.

I hope we don't lose the Affordable Care Act because I'm pretty sure my cringe bone snapped right in half when Whoopi told VP Harris that if she doesn't get sick, she should get her insurance premiums back. It could be a long recovery.

She has been saying this ridiculousness for years now.  Brian is going to have to have an expert come on and explain how insurance works much like the way he had Dan Abrams explain the Bill Cosby sexual assault case to her.   And who is she kidding?  She is always sick.

Yeah, it's not just that she was sharing her favorite stupid political request, again, it's that she stepped all over Vice President Harris' big announcement. Getting Medicare to cover in-home care for seniors is a big deal that will help a lot of families. A good moderator would have let that news breathe for a moment.

Instead of asking VP Harris about it, Whoopi goes off on her own tangent.

I like Whoopi, but she can be such a chaos agent. I think one of the reasons she says things that get her in trouble is that the mouth doesn't always connect with the brain.

Yes! What kills me (beside the fact that she doesn't get how insurance works) is that she has used the HELL out of her insurance for the past five years or so. She had that horrible bout of pneumonia + sepsis, before Covid even struck. And it seems to me she has had Covid at least 3 times in 4.5 years (maybe more).

Hi everybody! I pretty much stopped watching when The View hired Alyssa. I had to watch Kamala Harris today though. Overall, I thought the interview went well (other than the Whoopiness of it all).

Unfortunately there are a lot of people who think like this.   People do not understand how insurance works.   Whoopi's spent a quite a bit of time in the hospital a few years back.  I'm certain the costs of that stay exceeded the premiums she paid that year.   She probably wouldn't want to pay the difference in that scenario.  .

Alyssa made sure to tell us after the interview that she disagrees with almost all of Kamala's policies. But what exactly is it that she finds so objectionable? Restoration of reproductive freedoms? Tax cuts that would benefit 95% of Americans? The new proposal she outlined today which would expand Medicare benefits for seniors? Alyssa always laments about how none of her friends can afford to buy homes - well, Kamala actually plans to do something to help them by offering mortgage assistance to first-time home buyers.

It's fine for Alyssa (or anyone else for that matter) to have a dissenting opinion. But if she is going to "candidly" tell us that she dislikes most of Kamala's policies, a candid explanation as to why would also be appreciated.

SERIOUSLY. VP Harris explained-AGAIN-how they had a bipartisan bill to deal with the immigration issue, but when Trump found out, told his sycophants NO, it died. And did anyone catch that sourpuss expression when Sunny was talking about Harris?

Alyssa: “borderborderbotderborder…talktosomanyvoters…”

But all I hear is Charlie Brown’s teacher: “WAHWAHWAHWAHWAHWAHWAHWAH”

I KNOW!  I was horrified!  Seriously, there must be some law that prohibits airing such graphic images, candidate or not.

I was hoping to come in and post thank goodness it wasn't shown here on my end, but nope. It was one of the last commercials before the show ended. Thank goodness for my fast forward button.

It's outrageous. In all the years of election time and ads, when abortion has always been an issue, never, never have ads like these been shown. I can't even say "allowed" because that stupid note says it's not illegal.

An election or two ago here in Ontario one of the political parties was sending out very graphic newsletters with content like that.  I don't recall them ever having them shown on TV though.  At least coming through the door we could bundle them up and toss them.  I was glad though we didn't have children living at home at the time who might have seen one of them 😧!

It would be like ads showing the photos of children killed in a mass shooting. No one wants to see either of these graphic images.  Cannot wait til 11/6.

Alyssa is mainly the reason I stopped watching as well. She is SOOOO voting for Trump. Or writing in a rando.

Alyssa is campaigning for Kamala today (or is it tomorrow?) in Philly with Liz Cheney and Cassidy Hutchinson.

She explains it as campaigning against Trump, but not actually for Kamala. Cheney and the other two aides doing the event (Cassidy Hutchinson and Sarah Matthews) have all actually put their money where their mouth is by endorsing Kamala Harris.

I love Alyssa.  She's my favorite on the show.  She's criticized trump a thousand times in the past couple of years.  There's no way she'd vote for him.

I agree with you, GV. Obviously with the show called The View you have to have on at least 0NE Republican, and with all the choices out there, to me, she is the least obnoxious. Has anybody ever watched this week with George Stephanopoulos? Reince Priebus is repugnant!

WOW...Sunny was definitely mama bear today.

I can't even imagine what would happen if her children do not marry Catholics.

Her kids are now over 18 and in college. She may think she is still raising them but I don't think so...she said in a few years she will be in the sandwich. I think her kids will definitely need their independence in a few years.

RE: Sandwich generation - I wondered about this as well. My understanding of the term is it applies to people who have children who require more hands on care (not typically college age) and parents who require more substantial care (perhaps with health issues), not people who have kids who are out of the house and parents who are able to care for themselves.

Yeah... That's why I don't put Alyssa in the same class as them. But I already didn't find her trustworthy, it's just another example to add to the pile.

In all too few years though that likely will be true for her, just as it's true for most of us who have had children and who have been fortunate enough to have parents make it to a ripe old age.  Been there, still there.

Even if her parents end up needing care soon, the term still won't apply to Sunny because her kids are grown, so she's not still taking care of them.  They're what, 22 and 18?  Sandwich would apply to people who are taking care of their minor kids, as well as their elderly parents.

This is a stupid term, "sandwich" generation. Why? Because my mom took care of us when we were minors AND took care of her parents who were elderly, and she's of the Boomer generation. I fucking hate all these new terms and labels that are being bandied about.

Yesterday Sunny asked Whoopi if she would be OK with her grandchildren being atheists.  She also said she wanted to marry a man who shared her faith because of morals and values.  I got news for Sunny you can be an atheist and still have values and morals. She can practice her faith but she doesn't need to be so smug and judgmental about it. I find her more unlikable by the day.

I don't think it's supposed to mean an actual generation (ie, Baby Boomer, Gen X, Millennial, Gen Z, etc), but more a situation lots of people find themselves in around middle age.  I'm in my early forties and I have a couple friends who have kids at home but due to age/health problems, also have their parents living with them or are responsible for handling their parents' health needs.
