Katy M Yest. at 12:31 AM Share Yest. at 12:31 AM It took me almost the entire time, but I got FJ. I got the missed clues of The Glass Menagerie, Syracuse, fire plug, nickel, and Rochester. I got the entire categories of hit makers and geology wrong. Terrible game for me. 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149217-jeopardy-season-41-2024-2025/page/28/#findComment-8551494
Browncoat 23 hours ago Share 23 hours ago I can't believe I missed FJ, but I completely blanked. I'm choosing to blame the snowstorm. But I did get the TS of Glass Menagerie, Syracuse, fireplug, nickel, limestone, and foxhounds. 2 1 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149217-jeopardy-season-41-2024-2025/page/28/#findComment-8551560
shapeshifter 23 hours ago Share 23 hours ago Having lived in Rochester for 4 years now, and having been to the Eastman Museum, I would question my cognitive state if I'd missed the TS of “The Eastman School of Music's Kodak Hall seats about 2,300 for concerts at the university of this city.” IEIYKI FJ of John McCain was an instaget. I'm glad Drew won. I want him to go on winning so we can see him compete against someone like Matt Amodio. I'm also glad that the nerdier appearing guys got this far, but I have so much empathy (or maybe just sympathy?) for their awkwardness that I cringe. Sam answered 21 correctly in this game, so he should have some bragging rights. The TS of “plug nickel" was appropriately assigned a lowly $200 value for me and any of my generation or older, but they may have to start re-evaluating such references, like they seemingly did by making Michael Landon a $1200 clue yesterday. 5 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149217-jeopardy-season-41-2024-2025/page/28/#findComment-8551607

I was glad that Drew and Sam made up some ground on Enzo on the second day, and any of the three would have been a deserving winner, but I was rooting for them in the order of Sam, Enzo, Drew. However since Sam's guess for FJ wasn't really an American, I am fine with Drew winning. Didn’t they very recently have a TS for “don’t take any wooden nickels”? Or was that on Celebrity J? Anyway, I guess potential contestants need to brush up their old-timely nickel expressions. 1 1 4 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149217-jeopardy-season-41-2024-2025/page/28/#findComment-8551665

Cornetto for everyone Bringing this back over from the FJ contest thread. I thought that was a Nutty Buddy. Mr. TV thought it was a drumstick. Now that I’ve checked the category (“begins with a musical instrument”), I know I wouldn’t have gotten credit, but wouldn’t “drumstick”? 5 2 Link to comment https://forums.primetimer.com/topic/149217-jeopardy-season-41-2024-2025/page/28/#findComment-8551847

Yes, “chicken leg” was the $400 clue for “drumstick” in the BEGINS WITH A MUSICAL INSTRUMENT category, but that clue was the 25th clue revealed after the $2000 clue (#12) of: “In this Italian frozen dessert, a layer of chocolate insulates the cone from the ice cream.” However, since the $2k clue specifies “Italian,“ the judges probably assumed that they would not have to accept “drumstick.” …but, on the third hand, Wikipedia does include: ’Due to the historic popularity of this dessert, it is commonly called a "drumstick" even if it is manufactured by some other company and branded otherwise.… [citation needed]’ (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drumstick_(frozen_dairy_dessert)#History). …but note Wikipedia’s “[citation needed],” which I suppose would give the Jeopardy! judges an out, whichever way they would rule — if Drew had said “Drumstick” instead of “Cornetto.” But it seems to me that the Clue Crew should have only picked one of those 2 clues for that category.🤷🏼♀️ Or maybe the Clue Crew likes to live on the edge.🤣 Perhaps the $2K clue would have been better worded: In this Italian[-named] frozen dessert, a layer of chocolate insulates the cone from the ice cream I vaguely recall the pre-assembled and wrapped ice cream cone called “Drumstick” from my youth as being of inferior quality to freshly scooped ice cream cones. …but I don’t think I’ve encountered the "Italian" (Unilever brand) of “Cornetto” (wikipedia.org/wiki/Cornetto_(frozen_dessert)). …which is probably a geographic or generational distribution difference. The only reason I have the word cornetto in my head is because of Edgar Wright and Simon Pegg's "Cornetto Trilogy". We never called the ice cream cornetto, always drumstick. I don't know whether cornetto is used in North America at all. But even though I occasionally indulge in a drumstick from my local convenience store nowadays I don't remember thinking of it as either a drumstick or a cornetto recently, which makes me wonder what is on the label. I do occasionally wonder why some of the clues seem extra British. I remember Wall's as a British ice cream company & that looks exactly like I remember the cornetto from when I was a teenager, the nuts were usually hazelnuts which are used a lot in the U.K. with Cadbury whole nut being my favourite chocolate bar. Edited to add that I always remember the tv commercial being set in Italy & some of the song from it. All the fires have missed my neighborhood, so I've just dealt with power outages and a lot of smoke, but I know people who've lost homes and it's a sad, stressful time here. We've had non-stop news coverage on all the local stations, of course, so no J! and when I tried to check the archive I couldn't manage to concentrate on it. But I'll be back in the conversation soon, I'm sure. Thank you for checking on me, and I hope any other L.A. posters are okay as well. I'm so glad. I live in fire territory as well, and that's the worst I've ever seen. The winds, man, they are devastating and hard to fight. We had a much smaller version of what's going on in a town to the west of us a few years ago. Horrible. Hang in there.
