And there's an overabundance of religious (mostly Judeo-Christian) topics and clues.

Omg, there are soooooo many!  And most of the time they barely sneak in anything that isn't Judeo-Christian.

I got the entire category of albums wrong.

I knew Rumours and Nevermind.  I got Tortured Poets Department but only after Kristen gave me Poets Department.  For the other two I knew the artist but not the album.

At least FJ was an instaget for me.  I took a lot of art history courses in college, so I knew the Sforzas meant Milan.  There are several famous Renaissance portraits of various Sforzas.

I got the missed clues of Pillsbury Dough Boy and infrared (after ultraviolet).

I got the Pillsbury Dough Boy, but probably because a classmate made him unforgettable in English class. We had to write letters of complaint for an assignment, and he wrote one from the Pillbury Dough Boy threatening a lawsuit for all the damage to him from repeated poking in the belly. 🤣

As for beards, I like some but not others. I don't like Bryce's. IMO, some men look better with beards. I dislike is the "several days' scruff" look: either grow a beard or don't.

I like well trimmed beards (my husband's had one for most of the time we've been together), but I agree with the scruff look - commit to it or shave!

The middle guy had more charisma than the champ, from what little we heard from him.

I liked that he told a story that didn't put him in a good light. Funny, but he was definitely the butt of the joke. I was sorry to see him go.

Ugh. In J I missed one in Common Bond Cuisine, two in Pact, and three in everything else. In DJ I missed one in Punctuation, two in Without a Paddle and Dead Never Sleep, three in British Monarchs on Film, and four in Geography and Farewell to France.

I got FJ; total guess as I've never seen it and I wasn't sure if Yellowstone even extended into Montana (I looked it up after; only around 3% of the park is in Montana). Was just trying to come up with a recent-ish show with a western setting.

TSes: (J had 8; DJ had 6) I got Baltimore and jet ski.

I missed last night's episode due to a phone call, so was a little disappointed to tune in tonight and see that ugly-ass beard again.  Not that I like the middle guy's any better, but it doesn't distract me like the champ's; I don't know why I have such hatred for that particular style of beard, but I do.  Maybe it gives me Andrew Luck flashbacks.

I thought there were two times someone didn't phrase their response in the form of a question in DJ, so figured they had and it was just cut for time (that the Kevin Bacon category took up), but I guess not.

I have "Hungry Heart" stuck in my head.  That's not a bad thing, mind you.  (At least it's not the Kars 4 Kids song.)  Good grief, they were terrible in that category.

I, OTOH, ran it.  I also ran pact, cuisine, and moon, and got all but kachina in words, so I had a great first round even though I missed two in love.

In DJ, I ran geography, punctuation, and dead (which I in no way expected based on the category).  But I missed three each in the rest.

FJ was an instaguess, and all credit to cultural osmosis as I've never seen it or had the slightest interest in doing so.

Yellowstone flitted through my head, but I thought Montana was too far north and the Godfather reference threw me. Maybe if I’d ever seen the show I would have guessed it, but I haven’t and I didn’t.

The Bruce Springsteen ignorance made all three contestants Dead To Me anyway. Mose would be ashamed.

I'd have to move if I didn't get that one. Also there was a bit about Springsteen on the news the other night (which I only caught because I turned the TV on a few minutes early for Jeopardy), because the "friend who was a big baseball player back in high school" from Glory Days passed away.

That's where my relative ignorance of geography in the US helped me, plus all the Yellowstone ads. Haven't seen the show (I think it's on a streamer I don't have). It doesn't really sound like my cup of tea either @chessiegal

I have never watched Yellowstone, but I've seen the commercials a zillion times.

This is what I get for watching 0 shows live and zipping through all commercials on my DVR. All I know about Yellowstone is it’s a western (not appealing to me) and it maybe stars Kevin Costner? (Appealing to me once upon a time, maybe.)

I started watching Yellowstone and one of the first things Costner does is shoot his injured horse.  I'm sorry, but perhaps LATER you can pull that off, but to be the first thing I see?  No, thanks. Watching an animal die is not entertainment. (Even if it IS offscreen.)

I just watched "A Quiet Place: Day One" - OMG, there's a support cat. Nothing better happen to the cat.  if anyone's like me, I can tell you it's safe to watch. The cat survives. Not too sure about the humans, but the cat lives.

Much better first round than last night…ran 'Allo Guv'nah, missed one in Java Facts (and I don't even drink coffee...but I couldn't remember where Mocha was) and Tell Me a Story Quickly, and two in British TV Title, Anatomy Class, and 5-Syllable Words. In DJ I ran Take the Long Way, missed one in "Grave", two in Initials, and four in History, Straits, and Movie Musicals (thought I'd do better in that one..). Did not get FJ.

TSes: (J had 3; DJ had 6 + 1 DD) I got cornea and grasshopper.

Darn, I was rooting for Alfred. I don't dislike Bryce, but Alfred has a much better beard (and I don't even like beards, but Mary didn't exactly grab my attention, so.) Fun fact, all of their last names started with Wa-.

I almost said Lilliputian, but discarded it because of the "grown folk" part of the clue.  I did think about dwarves and gnomes, but the light bulb went off with the name Boq, and I got FJ in the nick of time.  An asterisk, too!

I also got the TS of cornea, Blue Planet, Ann-Margret, The Color Purple, and grasshopper.

Archive game for me.

I ran governor, anatomy, and words and got all but Yemen in java (pretty good for someone who doesn't drink coffee), but missed three each in British TV and stories, so it was not a great first round.

I missed three in straits, but otherwise did very well in DJ; I only ran long, but only missed one each in the rest -- Runnymede in history, Clarke in initials, Into the Woods in musicals, and gravenstein in "grave" (seeing the picture wouldn't have helped).

I had no guess for FJ, as I rejected everything I thought of -- including munchkins.  Oops.

I remembered that there is a character Boq in Wicked and knew it was Oz, but nearly overcomplicated it by thinking if they weren't so very small maybe they weren't Munchkins but Winkies or something. Then I reminded myself that Alex would warn me against overthinking and said Munchkin.

I'm sure the writers were relying on the popularity of Wicked since although the quote is from the original book, Boq is a very minor character there and isn't in the Judy Garland movie.

Oh my - all 3 contestants this evening were suffering from a severe Wicked Deficiency!  Boq! I don’t think he was introduced (yet) in the movie, but he’s certainly in the stage version!

Boq is in part I of the movie -- I haven't seen the whole thing but he is in the first scenes at Shiz.

Damn. That name sounded familiar to me, but I couldn’t place it. After all, it’s been five whole days since I saw Wicked. Who can remember that long?

I guessed hobbit. Boo for me.

Honestly I think seeing Boq in print might have been more helpful than watching the movie would be.

Surprised all three of them missed it. Even if they haven't seen Wicked, there was lots of media surrounding Ethan Slater in particular with his relationship with Ariana Grande.

Although I had seen comments about Ariana's relationship, even when I remembered the name Ethan Slater I did not connect him to the character Boq.

That would explain Boq not meaning anything to me; I have no interest in Wicked (on stage or screen) and only know that it exists, nothing about it.

Same. Because I read the book and that was the most...unpleasant thing I've ever read. Could not imagine how they made a feel good musical out of it. None of the characters are sympathetic, no one has a happy ending, and the sex and violence is a little shocking if all one knows is the 1939 Wizard of Oz movie.

Another FJ that I knew without ever having read or seen the source material. Was surprised by the Ann-Margret TS.

I had not the slightest notion for FJ.  I've seen the movie but maybe read the book once when I was a kid so the name and size reference meant nothing to me.

I knew Ann-Margret was in Viva Las Vegas but the Swedish thing threw me.  (I didn't realize she had been born in Sweden.)  I said Elke Sommer thinking maybe she was also in the movie.

Nothing wrong with a healthy Wicked deficiency, imo.

Who?  His name means nothing to me, despite paying a fair amount of attention to entertainment-related media.

I knew her whole name was Ann-Margret Olsson so I knew she was Swedish but I actually just watched Viva Las Vegas a few weeks ago on TCM. She was one of his co-stars who could actually keep up with him musically. I mean Shelley Fabares has a sweet voice and even had a hit record but not in the same class as Elvis.

Truthfully, my knowledge of Wicked comes from Glee fanfiction. Two of the characters on the show love it and so it has worked it's way into some of the fanfic, including the character of Boq. And both Idina Menzel and Kristin Chenoweth played characters on Glee (which is how I knew about their connection to Wicked).

Indeed.  She's why I enjoy Viva Las Vegas so much.

Guy Branum?! I thought I was watching Celeb Jeopardy for a second. I actually know him, mostly from After Midnight, which he's been on a few times. He has a fair number of credits on IMDB, too.

I did pretty well in the first round…ran Potpourri, Annual Events, and This Means "War", missed one in Aviation History, Two in Movie & TV Roles, and three in 2-Word Cities. Not so much in DJ…missed one in South African History and Skill Set, two in Literature, Van's the Man, and Albums, and three in Irregular Verb Form. Did not get FJ; I also guessed Physics (after pre-guessing my cousin's dad, of course...who won for Chemistry 🙄).

"Live long and prosper to you, too!" 🖖🏻

TSes: (J had 3; DJ had 6 + 1 DD) I got Nebraska, Nickel Boys, lain, oversteering, and Johannesburg.

I was rooting for Guy, but just glad there's a new champ. I don't dislike Bryce, but sorry, the whole "who would you like to thank... first, my lord and savior Jesus Christ" just makes me roll my eyes. Mike seems nice.

Marie Curie came to mind immediately for FJ.  I couldn't come up with the man (even though I heard him speak back in the day!), but I knew she was Chemistry, so I went with that.

I also got the TS of Nebraska, mambo, Nickel Boys, and lain.

Same same.  I guess Jesus didn't want him to be a 5-day champ.

Was not expecting Guy Branum to show up on Jeopardy! tonight! Bummer, he came so close!

Darin Morgan was on many years ago, except he used the name Blaine Faulkner, the name of a character in The X-Files' "Jose Chung's From Outer Space," which Morgan wrote and featured Alex Trebek.  Morgan wrote the best non-mythology episodes of XF.

I got the entire category of verbs wrong.

I couldn't get a bead on what they wanted. And the contestants lost track of the fact that they needed to supply a verb form at least a couple of times. My rule is that given a choice you should start with the lowest value clue in the trickiest category where keeping the trick in mind will be of most value.

I guessed chemistry for FJ with Mme Curie vaguely in mind but I didn't really know for sure.

Guy and Mike did great -- sometimes it takes a tag team to take out a champion -- but Mike had a slight edge and deserved the win.

Yeah, I'd call him more of a celebrity than the finance podcast dude they had on Celebrity J!

I'm glad I missed that (I don't watch the interviews); I was having a hard enough time with the beard.

I watched with friends, so didn't keep track, but I correctly guessed FJ.  I did fairly well, but most of the things that stumped them, stumped me too -- the only TS I got were Johannesburg, lain, and caught.

He thanked Jesus and then his wife and kids, if I recall correctly. Ken set him up with a comment about how at 4 wins he has a good chance at being in the next TOC and asked who he wanted to thank. Usually something they ask at the last TOC game.

Anyone who thanks Jesus BEFORE they thank their spouse gets a black mark in my book.

I guess this proves how I'm not hip. I've seen several discussions about whether this Guy Branum person is "too famous" for regular Jeopardy!, shouldn't he be on Celebrity Jeopardy! instead, just what are the rules about that sort of thing, etc.

To which I can only respond, "Who the heck is Guy Branum?" I've never heard of him. Even after reading his wikipedia article, I'm still not sure why I should know him. He was on something called "Chelsea Lately" (I don't know what that is, either). He was apparently on "X-Play," which I do remember, but which was such an obscure show, on such an obscure network, that I can't consider anyone who was on it "famous." And he apparently has a podcast. These days, who doesn't?

Sorry, don't mind me. Just an old man yelling at a cloud over here.

He was no more familiar to me than any random person at the gas station would be.  Never heard of him and have never seen anything on which he appeared.  So no more a celebrity than most of the contestants on this round of Celebrity Jeopardy, I guess.
