That was a boring RC and really not worth the cliffhanger. Joey has been a really good lead so far compared to recent bachelors and this season, even some of the early eliminated have made an impact. I’ve noticed he’s kissed most of them.

Who is Jess talking about when she says, “We are crossing our fingers that Joey falls in love with Jess.” First of all, each of your “friends” there all want Joey to fall in love with themselves. Second of all, no one is falling in love with someone who refers to herself in the third person.

Who is this person crying that Joey isn’t choosing her despite her strong feelings for him? I don’t think he knows you exist. To be fair, there were like 4 or so girls there I don’t have any memory of ever seeing…despite this show just being on last night.

I like Kelsey. I think the last 1:1 date that I saw a spark with was Daisy. They are my top 2 so far. The other 1:1s I think I barely commented on—Lexi, Jenn, can’t even remember who else. They were just eh. I’m even going to forgive Kelsey for being one of those people who say “whenever” when they are talking about a specific event and should say “when.”

In Bachelor nation it’s impossible to fall in love without proving your vulnerability by revealing your biggest sob story during the dinner portion of your first 1:1 date. If you’ve had a relatively happy life, you better come up with something, or you might not get that rose.

He seems very kind.   I posted a link to an article in the media thread. Molly and Jason met him and couldn’t say enough nice things about him.

Lea really fell totally and completely into the Sydney void with this anti-Maria business. They must have the same producer giving them the same prompts.

Seriously. Don't any of these girls have happy stories? It's really repetitive watching all these women cry on their dates with Joey. I know production is instructing them to open up, but even though these are probably things Joey should know, they aren't things the audience needs to see, at least not over and over again.

I think Joey really picks up on the energy.   He seemed so much lighter and happier Monday after Sydney left.  And now he is having drama free fun with Rachel.

I’m not sold on Rachel. Not only is her sob story “I’m a nurse,” but they didn’t talk at a while dancing (understandable). But then at dinner besides the nurse stuff they both just said she’s “a slow burn” like a dozen times. I think with Sydney and Lea, Joey might not hate boring.

oooh...first time I"ve seen HIM slip the tongue to.  I felt like he and Daisy knew each other before this when she got out of the tree the first night.  So nice Daisy checks up on him.  Out of all the women I've seen him interact with, Maria and Rachel seem to make him happiest.  OMG Jess!!!! She totally stole him the first night.

Now Jess is going after Maria?! Is Maria tripping them when the cameras aren’t around or something? Or has this group just talked about how terrible Maria is that they’re just jumping on anything to attack her? Yeah, it’s poor form to take time if you already have a rose, but Jess is acting like he ran out of time for her, but if that does happen, it’s only because Jess ran off crying and left the party on her own accord—nothing Maria did.

Jess, we all remember how you double dipped on 1-on-1 time with Joey on the first night. Spare me the tears about how disrespectful that is. 

There's such an obvious gap in maturity between the 23-24 year-old (Lea, Jess) and the 29-30 year-olds (Maria, Madina, Lexi). 

I really like Joey as the Bachelor. I suppose there's still lots of time for him to display tool-like tendencies the way most Bachelors do, but he seems to be a really genuine, respectful guy. I can actually understand why these girls would want him to be their husband.

The drama.  My god. If you need time with him, take it in your hands and interrupt, don’t wait for the bachelor fairy to magically clear the room and grant you time with him. Have they never watched the show?

I think there must be time for all of the women to talk to Joey. My guess is they know he has a better connection with others so it’s easier to just complain that you didn’t get your time. They all think if Joey only had time with them they would be the one.

Yet they are on group dates and cocktail parties and it’s probably obvious Joey is reacting more to others. I really hate the constant bullying of Maria and the sobbing that she is doing something wrong. I don’t think Maria is the one for him but she deserves to be there as much as everyone else.

I’m looking forward to seeing Jess leave paradise as soon as she doesn’t have a rose to give out and none of the sweaty bachelor-rejects have to feign interest in this whiny child while waiting for someone hotter they already clocked on instagram to arrive.

Well, I may be on an island by myself, but I don't like Maria.  She seems to be intently trying to capture the camera as often as possible and is quite successful at it.  Her over-the-top facial reactions say it all to me.  And, for all of the crying that she does, I don't recall seeing any tears (which I may have just missed as I'm usually doing something else while this is on in the background).

I don't like Maria either.  She's snarky and abrasive.  I also don't find her attractive.

I hated how she came out that first night and slipped into something "more comfortable" just to show off in a sexy way.  That was so cringe to me.

But Joey, being a red-blooded male, finds this hot, which I get.

I hope his big brain does the pickin'.   Someone like Kelsey, Daisy, Lexi ... classy, beautiful girls who will have their pick on Paradise sweat-fest if Joey passes on them.

I thought I once heard a past contestant say something about how you can't necessarily go out and interrupt the lead's convo with another girl, even if you thought you had a good reason, for example, because you haven't had any one-on-one time with him. 

I thought the contestant said something about there being producer intervention sometimes, such as being told "wait, you'll have your turn" (and then there was no "turn").  But if Production wanted to allow a contestant to interrupt, for whatever reason, they would. Heck, I would not put it past Production to encourage certain contestants to go interrupt a convo just to manipulate the drama.

No drama = no show. When bachelors or ‘ettes go on this show they must realize that along with all the perks comes the constant manipulation. Some are savvy enough to negotiate the drama but many are not. The desire to be on camera robs those of their dignity. 

When someone chooses to go on a second season they are more familiar with the manufacturing. This is where Joey excels (so far). It’s early and I know fatigue sets in and it becomes more difficult to avoid the land mines. But at this stage I can say Joey is the smoothest bachelor I can recall. 

Regarding Maria, who has definitely been thrown under the bus, I understand her more since learning she’s been raised and mostly influenced by men. She definitely lacks the finesse that is instilled by female nurturing. That’s not her fault but she certainly rattles the cages of “ladies” who are not so blunt. I admire confidence but there’s a more subtle way to show it that’s not so off-putting. A feminine skill she’s missing. She’s not my cup of tea but I sympathize with her.

I'm all in on Team Maria, but I totally get how she's not for everyone. When she's in conflict with a sociopath like Sydney, Maria's not capable of diffusing the situation.  I get wanting to defend yourself on camera, but her argument style is a little like an internet forum made flesh.

And of course that's being highlighted on the show.

She's not going to end up with Joey at the end -- I think Joey likes her, but he's not going to give up time with Kelsey or hip-check Daisy out of the way for her. But I'm glad she's sticking around.
