12 actors, musicians, and reality TV personalities trade in their possessions, status and glamorous lifestyles on Earth for an insane and hilarious summer on "Mars,” where they compete until there is just one "celebronaut" left standing. William Shatner serves as Mission Control and will deliver intergalactic tasks to these shining stars throughout their journey on the red planet.

Airs: 06/06/2023 on Fox

This show is right up my alley - random celebrities doing stupid yet oddly challenging stuff, plus Shat! But - Lance Armstrong. I love Adam Rippon and Natasha Leggero, but I don't know if I can sit through Lance Armstrong.

I liked this show a lot more than I expected to.  I’m a Seahawks fan so I’m probably in the target market as long as Marshawn and Richard Sherman last, but I really liked the campy-vibes of the show, and laughed a ton. If it’s really 48hrs between challenges, it seems like Fox or Hulu must have enough outtakes to just put another 30 or 60 minutes per show up of additional funny side conversations between cast members, I wish they’d do that.

Okay, I'm in.  This show is funny.

at first I thought, they don't really think they are on Mars, right?  But then they thought they had an actual astronaut, so....

the computer voice is hysterical.  We couldn't get Matt Damon...  Or whatever she said.  And introduced the comedian as a pedian, because that's what someone misheard.  Too funny.

I'm only halfway through...

I decided to watch this solely for Marshawn Lynch and he did not disappoint.   I especially loved that he simply refused to allow Lance Armstrong to use his bathroom.  REFUSED.  And said it was because Lance looked like he ate lima beans and he did not want no lima bean shit in his bathroom.  I was on the floor.  I cannot stand Lance Armstrong and was so hoping Marshawn would not be polite.  He wasn't and so day made.

Whoever is voicing their "AI" has a nice dry wit.  I loved the intro of Natash Leggoro 'Pedian'. LOL

At first I was confused why Ariel Winter was squeeing about Lance Armstrong and then she called him 'so cool' and I was like, girl, you need to Google.  But then it clicked she was confusing him with Neil Armstrong, and I was so embarrassed for her.

Porsha : 'I'mma put astronaut on my IG bio for real."

Did Natasha Leggero called Willaim Shatner "Shatty Daddy?"  I think she did.  HA!

Everybody just seemed to be having fun so it was a nice first ep.

And she actually did it lol.

This show was way more entertaining than I thought it'd be. It's basically Celeb BB but fun. I wish there were live feeds!

I enjoyed this waaaay more than I have any right to have enjoyed it!  Shatner looks great (he's 93 or 94 I think) and, of course, loved his delivery of his lines.  I was sorry to see Chris leave as I thought his personality was a bit different from a lot of the others and so he brought a quirkiness that I would find more interesting than the 'hotness' of Adam.  I was surprised that Natasha was deemed Mission Critical.  I think production has done a good job with the layout and structure of this show.

My biggest disappoint is the inclusion of Lance Armstrong.  I really don't like the celebrity of those who have been caught cheating or furthering themselves illegally.  His title should be 'cheater' instead of 'cyclist.'  Oh well.  The producers want him there, so he is there (and I know he has fans, I'm just not one of them).  I still expect to really enjoy this show.

Love the snarkiness of the show.

Can Marshawn be commander every week?

do you think any of those celebs remember the whole ‘controversy’ with Lance or were they told to ignore it? Sorry that part of his  story is still hard to understand

Fast fall for Tallulah.

Leadership is hard and requires someone to make some tough calls.  Her desire for everyone to be happy and do what they want is wonderful, but when the project requires specific tasks (and according to Natasha their instructions stated that physical strength was needed for the cave portion), the leader needs to make some decisions.  She seems very nice and well-liked, but the 'commander' position was not a good fit for her.

This continues to be very fun-especially when Shatner speaks to them.  I did laugh a few times this episode and, really, that's what I want-to be entertained.

Tough break for Tallulah.  I guess the idea is to vote off the person keeping you from completing your mission, but I wonder if there is going to be some strategy creeping into this.  Like let's vote off the popular person or the capable person because they're likely to win, like on Survivor.

I also wondered how legit the wrestling match between Marshawn and Ronda was.  Not that I doubt Ronda's skill, but that's a lot of strength and bulk she was taking down there.  I think Marshawn let her win, or put in minimal effort because he didn't want to hurt her.

Did they say if there is some sort of prize for winning this?  Is it for charity?

I'm watching to see if I'll end up liking Roussey a bit more after this. I really don't care for her much right now.

Interesting group they put together, and the challenges seem really challenging. It's enough to entertain me.

Perhaps Lance is looking for a redemption arc. Or maybe he will lean full on into the "villain" role.

Shatner is 92. He looks and sounds great!

Why should Lance need a redemption arc?  He was a real astronaut after all  😄 😄

92 is getting up there, so kudos to anyone who is moving around at that age.  I remember seeing him on Shark Week a year or two ago though, and I remember being shocked at how different he looked from his Captain Kirk days (because I was watching original Star Trek every week at the time.  Come to think of it, I still am).

However, he cheated on at least one of his trips to the moon.

Ariel sure got off lightly. Instead of doing the task she was assigned, she wanted to swap for purely selfish reasons. That's not the way to be mission-critical.

I agree. And c'mon, this was only their second mission. There's plenty of time for her to "get out there" and do something she hasn't tried before. I'd be fine with her going out soon.

And I'm not a huge Housewives fan, but I was rather proud of Porsha for completing the task assigned to her. She stated her fear of heights (which I share), but then she just got out there and did it.

I agree with you on Porsha, but I was sad that Lance did not get more kudos for being integral to talking her through the downward trek.

Eventually, the "pedium" that doesn't want to do anything will get voted out, but she's fun to watch, so I hope she hangs around a little longer - and she did question switching the two others because the mission report said they needed strong people in the cave, so she has that going for her.  (yeah, I don't know names, yet).

Every time someone says "here on Mars," I still tell my TV, "You know you're not really on Mars, right?"  I get that they are just playing the part, but it's so weird.  And I'm enjoying the campiness of "mission critical" and the computer voice and all the 'seriousness' of it all.

Shatty Daddy is having a blast.

To be fair, he gave himself all the kudos he needed, by declaring himself the most integral.

But, you're right, he did do a nice job at that.

Ugh, I want them to get rid off Marshawn. He is the laziest professional athlete I've ever seen.

I agree and he probably would have gone had Richard not self-eliminated.

I don't like how mad Ronda appeared to get after they supported Richard in his decision to leave.  He's the one who wanted to leave and they just 'voted' accordingly.  Yet, it seems like she is taking it out on the others.

Very interesting that alliances are forming and they will apparently start playing a bigger role in the vote-offs.  As the base commander picks the mission specialist who is then immune, this set-up seems ripe for a battle of alliances.

The creators of this show really put thought into the various challenges.  I am quite enjoying it.

What are you talking about? I keep wondering if they are individually sent back to earth or if they go to the international space station to wait until they can be evacuated as a group.

ETA: I think Ghosts is real too.

Just realized this and if someone already mentioned it, I missed it, but the habitat number is 1701, which is the spaceship number on the Enterprise (Star Trek).  Shout out to Shatner!

And I agree, Marshawn should have gone.

Not sure how I feel about new crew, but since they appear to be going all in with the "we're on Mars!" bit, it's realistic that new people would come in. I like the challenges, they are actually challenging. And Shat's having the time of his life, or at least as much fun as he had on Better Late than Never. I like Natasha, so I was sorry to see her go.

I liked Natasha as well but physical stuff in the suits really didn't seem to suit her and once someone self eliminates, it's time for them to go.

I'm curious about the new people as well though I hope TPTB don't pull a fast one and have some of the already eliminated people back in the mix.

This is the worst reality show I've ever seen (and I saw Milf Manor, so that says a lot). It reinforces the  perception that these C list celebrities are dumb as bricks and band together in cliques, voting off team members who show slightly more competency in order to bum around with people who like to stroke their egos. Their reasons for staying on is saying that they are better eye candy than the others? Really? News Flash, none of them are super models. Their level of delusion and stupidity is truly shocking. Whoever greenlit this show should be forever banned from any type of entertainment field. This is unbearably bad.

This show isn't as cutthroat as Survivor (yet), because when I used to watch that show people would beg to get voted off, but they would vote someone else off because the alliance game was more important.

Ronda got mad because her friend got voted off.  She had gotten comfortable with a little group of athletes, and losing Richard punctured her world she had set up.  I don't think it's unusual for her to feel that way, and it looks like by this week she had recovered nicely.  The contestants have to realize everybody's got to leave the game except the winner.

That crossed my mind as well, that they might bring back contestants who had already been eliminated.  I agree, I'd rather not see it.

I can't take this show too seriously.  It's just a silly piece of fluff, and therein lies its charm.

These people wouldn't last a day on Survivor. They can video call home and are mentally breaking down 7 days in.

I liked the 'motherfungus' challenge but felt that Ariel carried the day and that Ronda didn't really know how to help direct the teams.

I wish someone had mentioned that Tom stayed behind to help his team mates as that seems pretty 'mission critical.'  I hope that others are able to be mission specialists because Ariel needs to be a part of the more physical challenges IMO.  She appears to be sliding through.

I wish Ronda went along more with the set-up; I found it annoying that she was focused more on Shatner's looks (why doesn't he have wrinkles?  I have more wrinkles...) than on what he was saying.  I love Shatner's role in this, so don't destroy the illusion.  And, he looks great!

I find the show and the challenges very creative.  The twist has a lot of potential.

I want to know how long Adam is going to skate by because he tells everyone he is good looking with flair.  Lance is correct that it is becoming about cliques and who is saving their friends.  I do think they need different people in charge next week.  I also hope they don't bring back previous people.  I hope the next people are really new contestants.

I just saw a commercial. The new crew are not returning players. No names were given, just professions.

Spoiler

Reality star, NBA champion, chef and a late night personality.

Shatner is 92, so yeah he does look good for his age.  His problem is he's overweight, a common problem as people age.  The positive aspect of carrying extra weight and fat is that it tends to fill in whatever wrinkles you might otherwise have.  You don't see too many thin 92 year olds with fewer wrinkles than Shatner.

I'm not sure I like the direction this show is going. Hate all the junior high, gang up on someone bs. Am pleased with the additions of Andy and Cat. Don't know Ashley and we don't need another jock.
