But, how do we stand upright then? Wouldn't the force have us all plastered to the ground like we're on a giant Gravatron?

I once knew someone who blamed the Space Program for the hole in the ozone layer because. ..the rockets getting thrust into outer space somehow had pierced the atmosphere which (as per my acquaintance) had punctured the ozone layer creating said hole!

THAT person's theory was more logical and smarter than Miss Barr's re the Earth being on a disc being thrust upward into space keeping everything from flying off. I take it she never tried to put a marble on top of a toy top to see how long it would stay on. ..

Seth Meyers had a great line, I think in Corrections where he wondered if people like that think the earth is flat, do they also the moon is flat?

It now occurs to me to wonder what the force is that propels our flat earth upward. She has ruled out gravity. Therefore the flat earth must have thrusters underneath it.

So...is everything else zooming at the same pace with us? The sun, the moon, the stars, the other planets in our solar system, etc? And do they have thrusters too?

By any chance  does Miss Barr have an explanation for why it is that the North Pole has continuous daylight for six months, then continuous nightfall for six months at the very same time while the South Pole has continuous nightfall for six months then continuous daylight for six months each and every single calendar year? Where are the North and South Poles supposed to fit on the  allegedly flat Earth anyway? Miss Barr seems determined to make Charlie Brown's little sister Sally seem like a comparative genius to her!

Obviously an army of Oompa-Loompas are stationed at each pole. In one pole they hold up giant sunscreens for 6 months while on the other pole they hold up giant flashlights. Then they switch every 6 months. I mean, duh!

What's weird is that you would think that someone with the means to take a flight around the world would be less likely to believe the earth was flat. Unless of course all pilots are in on the conspiracy and wait until you are asleep and then turn the plane around so you don't realize.

Come now, everyone knows the moon is made of cheese, probably Swiss, since it's got holes/craters in it.

I have heard a theory similar to that, except it isn't the pilots in on the conspiracy, but the GPS/radar companies and systems.

When I hear anyone say the Earth is flat I want to ask them if that were true why is there a conspiracy to make us believe it's round.  What does anyone gain from convincing billions of people for centuries that the Earth is not flat?

The other strange thing I was thinking of, is that if the flat earth thing was a conspiracy theory with even the slightest bit of credibility, you know there would be some billionaire weirdo with access to a rocket (like Musk or something) who would be like "I want to see what is on the other side" and launch a rocket to see what was on the other side of the flat surface.

I once read an interview with someone who is a flat earther.  Not a billionaire just a regular albeit not very smart person.  He said he wanted to go to I think Antarctica and walk beyond the edge of what he thinks is a flat earth.  He said he wanted to see what was beyond the edge thinking there was something and only certain people are privileged to know what was beyond the edge.  If the earth is indeed flat wouldn't he fall into the abyss if he walked off the edge?

Isn't the idea that the Earth is flat linked to the idea that it's the center of the universe and all stars, including the Sun, revolve around it? So some of it might be the idea that it's all those anti-religious scientists who want everyone to think that we are not the center of the universe and naturally superior to everything.

Why, on the other side, there is the Other side of the Earth - with people who are just like us, the only difference is that they stand/walk upside down, so to us they would look like they hang up from the ceiling.

I guess a the concept of  flat Earth with everything else spinning around it makes sense for folks like Miss Barr who seems to often behave as though her ego as at the center of the universe.

You know it's more surprising that there's more flat Earth believers then people believing the Earth and therefore themselves are the center of the universe.

This was literally part of the Light Fantastic by Terry Pratchett (pretty sure it was Light Fantastic, one of the early ones that I didn't like that much).   One of the non-Ankh Morpork Nations decide to launch a barrel over the waterfall at the end of the Disc (a genuinely flat world) to see what's there.   They shove Rincewind in.  He is not happy about it.

It's not like we can be more disappointed with him but; Kanye sued by former “director of intelligence” who says he was tasked with investigating the Kardashians for sex trafficking and tailing Bianca Censori.

Quote

In the lawsuit, the plaintiff, who is identified as John Doe, states that the rap artist hired him in late 2022 and that he was made to conduct investigations, "including those involving attorneys and parties that have filed suit" against Kanye.

"Doe" alleges that in addition to being tasked to investigate the Kardashian-Jenners, the music producer also had him "hire private investigators to follow and 'tail' his current wife, Bianca Censori, when she was travelling alone to visit family in Australia, without Ms. Censori’s knowledge."...

"Doe" also alleges in his lawsuit that this past May, he received a call from an employee of Donda Academy—a private school Kanye founded in 2021 and which closed in June, according to public records—informing him that "abuse of children had occurred at Donda and that supposedly nothing was done to correct or report the problem."

The man said he "immediately informed the remaining Yeezy leadership of the report about the Donda student(s)," and that later that day, Kanye himself called him "to yell, curse and threaten" him with "great bodily injury, including death," if he repeated the information.

Ashton Kutcher and Mika Kunis are super upset that they can’t be friends with rapists without being criticized.

Quote

“Ashton’s so exasperated that once again he’s being dragged through the mud because of his past associations,” the insider says. “First it was Danny Masterson and now it’s Diddy, and it’s got him convinced that there are way better places out there to live than Hollywood. In his view the town is just a cesspool at this point.”

“Past associations”. Please, they wrote a statement for Masterson last year.

In other celebrity news, I feel bad for Jack Quaid. I wouldn’t blame him if wanted to change his last name to Ryan.

They are friends with two people that are accused rapists. How many of us are friends with even one person who is an accused rapist? And they think it's people giving them the side eye that are the problem. No buddy it's you that is the problem.

I read Demi's book.  She did so much for him and that is how he repaid her. When Demi and Ashton were dating it was reported he said something like I used to fantasize about her and now I'm fucking her.   He denied saying it but I can totally believe he did. This was around the same time he was hanging out with Diddy saying they were going to be the new Rat Pack. He has been awful for a very long time.

They won't because they apparently have too many "business interests" in Hollywood. Yeah, Ashton and Mia are so hot and in high demand right now, it would be a shame to walk away from that.

Dammit, great stars like Greta Garbo and Doris Day walked away from the spotlight and stayed away, why can't these two chucklefucks?

You would think given that they are apparently "so hot and in high demand" it would be very easy to avoid being around two rapists.

I don't blame them for knowing two rapists (at least).  Hiding in plain sight is common for serial abusers.  I do blame them for defending one of them, though.

And if the article is true (hard to know given the source), whining about being associated with them is a weird stance.  Just say you're shocked and condemn the behavior.

Although it wouldn't shock me if Ashton was closer to the negative behavior than not.  I'm not accusing him of anything at all.  But sometimes there are people that shock you.  And sometimes there are people that don't surprise you.

I agree. I didn’t realize it when I first posted but Ashton was brought into the Diddy conversation because of interviews he’s done talking about how close he is to Diddy. On Hot Ones he was asked for Diddy party stories and he said he had a lot he couldn’t tell.

It always makes me a little sad to see women with such beautiful, distinct looks all getting surgery to look like the same generic wax figures. I think Mila is a natural stunner, but that second pic in the youtube image makes her look like a drag Courtney Cox, or worse, a "real housewife" of anywhere

IMO, it doesn't matter how Miss Kunis's surface appears as long as she keeps having an ugly 'tude re wanting to keep company and abet irrefutably known convicted SA' ers.

Maybe one day she'll wake up and smell the toxicity she's kept herself in re bonding with Mr. Kutcher (and start prioritizing protecting instead of publicizing her offspring) . However, unless or until that happens, her bones beneath the surface skin will stay ugly.

Actor Zackary Levi. Didn't love him or hate him, he was just kind of there in the entertainment sphere. Recently he announced his support of a certain person, and along with that comes the crackpot conspiracy theories. He used the death of Broadway star Gavin Creel to suggest he died from the Covid vaccine.

Quote

Although Creel died of a rare and aggressive form of sarcoma, which Levi called a “turbo cancer” that “came out of nowhere” before he speculated, “You better believe that, with everything in me, I believe that if these COVID vaccinations were not forced on the American public, that the theaters weren’t being pushed and leveraged —”

I had no idea he was a whack job before this.
