S01.E04: The Domfather

Message added by peachmangosteen,

If you're just making guesses based on clues the show has given, you don't need to spoiler tag. If you went and googled these people to find out exactly who they are, you do need to spoiler tag.

I'm calling producer shenanigans on Louise staying, because anyone who so desperately wanted to stay on the show would have called her out already. Brittany did not. I can't fathom why. The wanting to show the house she was tough reason  was kind of weak.

I like that they have not yet revealed who Kai is related to. I don't have a clue.

I was laughing when someone speculated that Dom is one of MLK's kids. She doesn't look nearly old enough, for one. I also don't think we'd catch any of them on a reality show like this.

I am enjoying this show.  I really thought Dom had figured out Kai's relative as her reasoning made sense.  Oh well.  It was interesting that Logan finally realized that they all knew who Brittany was so if he stonewalled any longer it would put his game at risk so just affirmed Brittany's dad.

I am HORRIBLE at guessing the relatives.  So am having a lot of fun.  I will say it seemed like some clothing assignments were more obvious than others about who the relatives are.

That whole thing was very confusing to me.  It sounded like LC based that on the fact that MLK was a speaker at the Million Man March and Logan seemed to agree.  MLK had been dead for almost 30 years when the MMM took place.   I suppose she could have meant that maybe Dom was otherwise related, or a grandchild of MLK, but it still wouldn't put him at the March.

I wasn't sad to see Brittany go, especially since I finally figured out who she reminded me of!  She's a combination of Lauren Conrad and Christine Taylor.  lc12.jpg.b43983cf6ddc596e3812e84a58d2bc13.jpg

I know. That didn’t make any sense to me either. But the actual game portion of this show  doesn’t make a lot of sense to me either.

I did laugh a bit with them thinking that MLK had anything to do with the Million Man March. Although I was a little bit off too. I thought it happened in the early 2000’s. It was 1995. Time flies!😉

I think LC was kinda admitting that she is had no idea when the Million Man March took place. She seemed kinda embarrassed and ashamed. I, too, didn't know the year, but I knew it was during my lifetime and that MLK was not a part of it.

I agree that Pepper has a huge advantage in that her (supposed) relative is not well known amongst the young demographic. Also, I was mad that one of the judges told her she should have removed the jacket. Hello! That was her clue so she had to wear it!

I do not know Andra Day nor am I familiar with the Billie Holliday movie, but I googled it when Dom made that reference and I honestly did not see any connection with that dress and that actress.

Did the Jonas brothers really not know who Brittany's relative was. They seemed surprised and impressed.

But that led to the hilarious (and paranoid) convo between Lark and another girl when Pepper inadvertently admitted that she wasn't allowed to remove the jacket.  It sounded like they thought she couldn't possibly be dumb enough to reveal her clue so she must be lying!  I think one of them even said they saw the jacket in the wardrobe room.

I think that Kai’s relative is

Spoiler

Tiffany Haddish.

I remember an Oscars a few years ago where there were stories about her buying a similar designer dress and wearing it to every high profile event.

I really wish the show would actually commit to this being a guessing game for the audience. We didn’t need each person explaining why the item was a clue. Like with Lark. The jean shorts was a good clue but having her give more information made it so obvious. They could have let it be like Logan’s cowboy hat.

They were confusing the March on Washington with the Million Man March.

Billie Holiday was known for a similar look but it was closer to Audra McDonald’s Broadway portrayal than Andra Day’s.

I think you are 100% correct.  When Kai said the white dress was the clue, I thought it was completely obvious who her relative was.  That white dress (the one her relative wore) did make the rounds on several high profile events.  I think she even wore it when she was hosting some event (maybe it was the Oscars?).  Part of it was social commentary on how celebrities pay so much money to wear a garment once and part of it was that she looked and felt good in the dress so why not wear it more than once.

It's actually kinda suspect that Dom was so wrong on this.  It makes me wonder if she intentionally misled Brittany.  Though I guess they would have shown that if that was the case.

I was thinking some of the clue clothing assignments had clear advantages and disadvantages in the judging aspect. The judges loved LC's bee wings and antennae and didn't care for Brittany's t-shirt and Pepper's jacket

I thought Louise would be in the bottom. She looked kind of sloppy and the judges didn't look impressed.

After the last couple of weeks of drama with Brittany's dad and will she or won't she be outed, kind of funny her ultimate downfall had nothing to do with it. Other than the ugly t-shirt, lol.

She did. She even said something about that in a talking head and she was smirking so hard when the guess was wrong that I thought she was going to literally bust out in a maniacal laugh!  I thought it was genius, honestly.

Now that we're figuring out more of the relatives, I think back to the clues in the touch & feel mystery box game on episode 2 and I still cannot make the connection between the clues and the famous person.

*ICYMI a fellow poster listed all those clues in the Episode 2 thread

Dominique said she thought the mustache clue was for her.  That makes sense if you know her celeb.

If you look at the spoiler reveal above for the white dress celeb, “pickle” is their clue.

You can figure out why by Googling that celeb’s name + “weird food combinations”.

Well then! I guess her relative is Tom Selleck!

Lol. I googled L.F., as that's what someone said upthread but none of the Google images that pop up show him with a mustache.

Now why would I even google that!

I just did because you said so but I cannot imagine someone knowing that factoid or even making that connection from that clue. Seems a little far-reaching.

If she was wearing a Hawaiian shirt that would be my guess.

The mustache, pin stripe jacket and Million Man March equals

Spoiler

Al Sharpton

Lol. These clues are a little ou-there and not things that a person would automatically know.

Only if the celebrity isn’t one you automatically know. Like the Jets clue made no sense for people who don’t follow the NFL. Or how Logan’s clues seem really ambiguous if you don’t know country music but if you do there is really only one celeb that makes sense.

So the strategy for the series seems to evolve quite a bit.

I wonder if Louise strategy should just be for her to tank every challenge to get in the bottom 2?  Since anyone else is probably going to call her out.

Dominique is really fun to watch.  I hope she stays for a while.

Also, what the heck happens when there are just two people left?

Speaking of the fashion show clothing assignments, Amara should have passed the big cross necklace off as either Ozzy or Madonna hah
