Nyla and bitter hubby 's story. He is an hypocrite (she lied to me so I broke out with her. I mean she didn't even cheated on me, like I did to  her) and the last thing he has in mind is his daughter happiness.

What was in Penelope's past? I missed it and don't have the inclination to go back through the whole episode.  Just curious.  I don't think they should get back together, I'm not even sure why they were together in the first place.  They can't seem to find a good match for her.

She was an escort.

I first saw Enver in The Dollhouse, where he took on many personalities. My favorite being a teenage girl - which was hilarious.

Enver was amazing in Dollhouse and deserves so much more work

It bugs me that they are making Abril into a Black Widow level super woman.  This isn't Agent's of Shield, it's suppose to be a cop show with at least part of one foot in reality. (I know, don't start)

Yeah, that was a bit ridiculous with Abril. It would've been better if she had appeared and it was that she was actually paying most of the gang members to turn on their leaders, then she killed people during the surprise, so there would at least be some other people to be shot at!

Even more, I hope Bailey and Nolan break up.

I'd say maybe that was a possibility considering Jenna Dewan is supposed to be recurring on Superman and Lois but regardless, something tells me this arc with the "is he/isn't he" her husband, is going to be dragged out...

The issue is more that Nathan and Jenna don't have chemistry.

But that hasn't stopped the showrunners from constantly trying to pair Nolan with women with whom he lacks palpable chemistry.

There's no shame in having a character who isn't dating nonstop. He's been divorced for, what, three years? He moved cross country and decided to become a LAPD officer in his 40's. I don't understand the urgency for him to be in another long-term relationship. It makes him seem desperate.

I would be more inclined to buy his relationships if they felt more organic.

A woman showing up to his place, wearing only a towel, who gives him a story about locking herself out while supposedly knowing his neighbor is a weird setup.

This is why some of us thought Bailey might be the serial killer.

The writing is oftentimes clunky on this show.

Was that Bailey? I'd forgotten how that ridiculous situation ended up.

Same!
Now I wonder if she was originally cast to be a serial killer but they decided gf after they shot her first episode.

I think they're desperate to put anyone with Nathan on the show to make him seem like a twentysomething sex symbol.

It's just not that type of show. I couldn't care less about any of the police officers' love lives on this show since no one seems to know how to write a good plotline for one. For example, the only men available for Chen to pursue are her co-workers? The writing is so shoddy in this regard.

Bradford's storyline with his abusive asshole father interested me. I like his character (who has shown growth over time). Also I might be a bit biased because I like James Remar's acting. They look as if they could be related. I like Peyton List, but her character is kind of annoying.

I was onboard with Nyla, but this Donovan nonsense is kind of stale now. I like Angela too, but am not a fan of Wesley, so.....

I thought James Remar was a great casting choice. I like Bradford's storyline too. Eric Winter is doing such a great job with it.

Nothing they've done on this show has made Nolan (not Nathan) try to seem like a "twenty something sex symbol". There may have been the first or second episode of the series where the bar waitress gave him her humber. That was 4 seasons ago and related to the changed life of a good looking recently divorced guy, no matter the age. Nathan doesn't lie about his age, he doesn't hide his age. In fact he celebrates it. I think you're looking at it through a biased lens.

Well, last time she tried to date outside of her co-workers, it was a serial killer, so.......

I love James Remar.  He seems to be the go-to asshole dad.  He played the same on Grey's Anatomy.

I had forgotten about that. Maybe the writers should have kept her and Nolan together.

Both have bad pickers.

James Remar also played the assholish hotelier, Richard Wright, on SATC. He dated Samantha for a period of time.

Chen dated a EMT guy from a fire department. And the showrunner alluded that this season Lucy could have another personal story not related to her work life. So, all in all, the only person from work Lucy dated was Nolan.

Fillion plays a divorced guy who dates in his age-range. Plus, he's the lead of the show and is also an executive producer. I would think just because of that his character is entitled to have a well-rounded life. The fact that Fillion and Jenna Dewan don't have on-screen chemistry or that she can't act is unfortunate, of course.

This episode was pretty weak.  Bradford and his dad (sans Chen) were the only scenes really worth watching.  I really don't want a Bradford/Chen hookup and I'm disappointed that the show is going in that direction.

I am disappointed, too. Mostly I think that the show wasted these two so far this season, and what has happened is not very interesting.  I'm not sure why they showed the hug/ sleepover in episode 1 if they were not going to follow up on it.  They went from a serious moment that seemed like they could be romantic, and that was dropped and never brought up.  The problem with the storyline since then is that there is no demonstration of any residual feelings or emotions related to that moment.  Lucy was practically acting like a worried spouse in episode 1.  Then they had Lucy pranking Tim and acting like an immature idiot with that bet. And they never seem affected by what happened before.  Pick a lane, writers.

I also can't figure out why Lucy would be involved in such a personal activity as packing up Tim's dad's house.  Stuff like that is usually a family activity because it is so fraught with emotion and memories.

I think that they cannot figure out what to do with them, so they are doing a little bit of everything.

It wouldn't be too strange for someone to ask their co-worker(s) to assist them, but there was no indication of this.

During that kind of stressful/emotional time, some people would find it difficult to ask for help (Tim is definitely the sort that would). I know this from my own experience, being that sort myself and having done this under similar circumstances.

If a friend or co-worker had just pitched in, I would have been very appreciative. Especially someone who was aware of the complicated relationship and did not have expectations of what kinds of emotions and memories might be aroused.

So I found it thoughtful and kind.

They've definitely taken a step back on setting up a Chenford romance since the season premiere instead of building on it. The writers are just not very good at writing a genuine interesting romantic arc and then plotting it out correctly.  Not just Chenford, but also all of Nolan's relationships.   The next few episodes will feature romantic obstacles as both Bradford and Chen will get each a new significant other that will make the other one jealous.  Sigh, more generic romantic obstacles just to delay them getting together (feels like I'm watching Magnum PI here!).

i found this such a silly episode at times

Why didn't wesley plant the bug under the sofa he was sat on, that would have been very easy.

Or when the other cops burst in to save him when bug was discovered, i was thinking Oh clever, they will plant the bug now (stick it on the shelves for example) as the other side think "ah we foiled their plan". But no.

The smithy union plot, wouldn't it be good if actually he WAS a good union rep, knowing all the loopholes himself to get himself out of most nasty policework. But nope.

Quite why multi millionaire Wesley doesn't move his family to a very high secure place (top floor of fancy hotel) i have no idea. Private security over 2 police guards?

I enjoy the show mostly - like the treaure hunt episodes but it could be so much more clever/nuanced at times.

I don’t think I’ve ever liked Peyton List in anything I’ve seen her in.

Watching the new viewer post is telling me that much of the series went in and out. Since the rules changed on actor's credits my first question was which Peyton List was on the show? 😀

I guess Mad Men and not Cobra Kai
