Trials and Tribulations of Juicy and Tre...

I'm glad I chose to spend the Day of Reckoning here with you guys! What a great, intelligent group.

I don't think Teresa EVER truly thought she would have to spend one second in prison. I think she has been in complete denial and believing all the  rumors that she would only get probation or house arrest. I think she has been well & truly spoiled all her life and this is probably the first time she has had to face actual consequences of her actions.

Allowing her to report after the holidays is a double-edged sword. I can't imagine what their Thanksgiving and Christmas will be like for Teresa, Joe, and the girls  knowing for sure this will be their last holidays together as a family at home for a very long time. At Christmas they will know that in a couple of weeks Mommy will be going away.

I think Joe will party his butt off while Teresa is away at college.  He may actually use that time to build another life for himself, with someone else, and he might be the one to divorce her.

I still would not be one bit surprised if the Juicy's translate time to "get your affairs in order" means time to "make fake ID's and escape to a foreign land with the kids".

I will be shocked if the Very Special Watch What Happens actually takes place since Teresa was also sentenced to prison. I think she only had plans for Joe going away. I don't think she will have herself together for that by Monday.

I wholeheartedly agree with your assessment that Teresa did not believe for one second she would ever spend a day in jail.  She and her enablers and supporters have ridden this train until it limped into the station.  The excuses for this heifer have been astounding.  They range from, "Why doesn't the government go after REAL criminals?!" to "It's ridiculous that they're going to jail for a non-violent crime."  Evidently, some people believe that "non-violent crime" is synonymous with "victimless crime."  I even remember someone demonizing Joe's low-income tenants for daring to complain because they had to live in unsafe and unsanitary conditions.  Scary!

This judge is my "Hero of the Day."  I'm glad that someone realizes that these weren't simple accounting mistakes as opposed to deliberate attempts to deceive and defraud not only their creditors but also the bankruptcy court.  Even after pleading guilty, they couldn't stay on the straight and narrow.  It's a special brand of sociopathy and narcissism that I've very rarely seen--Apollo Nida being the most noteworthy example.  Teresa truly believes she is special and has had any number of people in her ear telling her that.  It's been amusing watching her trying to weasel out of her punishment.  She invokes a supposed pregnancy, her "four beautiful daughters" and when all else fails, resorts to what amounts to the "innocent spouse" defense.  I'm glad the judge didn't buy it.

Given that she was ready, willing and able to throw Joe under the bus, I have no doubt that he'll be partying hard during the 15 months she's away.  If he serves her with a complaint for divorce, it should contain a scrawled Post-It note that reads:  "How you like me NOW, Tre?"

Page 27!  My lucky number!

I had to go pick up lil Miss Lab and came back to scan all the pages!

I'm doing the Michael Jackson moon walk.  I'm happy with it.   They get the holidays, enough time to make vats of sauce and sausages.   Also, enough time to have In Touch do about 20 rag covers.

I'm not one for the spotlight, but here is my attempt at acceptance speech for winning the pool at Rhetorica's behest:

I'd like to thank my single working mother and grandmother for instilling me with values from an early age. They taught me to live by a code of ethics and to always put the consideration of others above my own. Work hard, graduate from an Ivy league university and the world can be your oyster. (Are you listening Tre?)

Oh, and Bravo--don't even consider giving Teresa her own post-prison spinoff. Let her spend the rest of her days living in obscurity working to pay off her debts like an upstanding American citizen. Thank you!

I can't believe she's actually getting jail time. How many months will she actually serve though? She's going to the same prison Martha Stewart went to, right? I forgot how much time MS got and what was served.

They are cockroaches. They may have been called on the carpet today but they're already scheming how to leverage this once they get out. Theresa probably won't be in there that long that she won't be relevant when she gets out and then she'll spin all of this into her own series. Bravo would give it to her in a heartbeat. So, sadly, these conners will keep on living better than you or I ever will.

Do we know what facility she's going to be sent to yet? Sorry if I missed it. Maybe it'll be the same prison Orange is the New Black was based on. That was in NY, right?

There are only two minimum security female federal prisons in the US. One in West Virginia and one in Texas. There are about 20 other female prisons all over US. Probably will not know which ones they will be sent to until actually sent.

"four beautiful daughters"?

Every time I hear that, I am convinced that they are planning on the gender of their offspring garnering them sympathy and a pass on any jail time - which thankfully has NOT happened...The first time I recognized that I was hearing that phrase over and over and over and over I realized it was a well placed attempt to give the parents a pass...SO glad it did not work!

And, yes, I freely admit I have enough of a flawed character to wonder how all the Tre-huggers are reacting to the sentence...especially since on another board, in another time, I have been the victim of rabid Tre-hugger venom.

Don't tease about "House of Juicy". I'm trying to leave work in the next 20 minutes. ETA home by 7:30 I hope.

Have already bought my Makers, and am enjoying a quick cocktail at my desk as I'm the only one here. Company handbook be damned.

Hopefully karma and schadenfreude (one of Mr DC's favorite terms) won't come back to bite me in the ass and somebody won't choose today to crash into me on the 20 minute drive home and I end up in the pen with Juicy and Teresa. DC has the world's worst drivers, so cross your fingers.

Please don't drink and drive.

I wonder if either Joe or Teresa will get a(n additional) DUI or get arrested for anything else before their sentences start. I could see Joe getting in quite the additional trouble before 2016.

Juicy is the new black???

That TMZ camera guy was asking Tre if she watched Orange is the new black show.  She had sunglasses on.  She better check the wine cellar tonight.  Juicy may be passed out in there.

I think she had an idea; I think that's why she's been so nervous and so mute about it all (these past few months). The whole house arrest/probation idea was always spin put out by her PR and defense teams. It was put out to the public, but privately, the lawyers told them the hard realitiy of their plea. In fact, it's their job to tell their clients the truth and prepare them for worst-case scenerios. A lot of people didn't read the indictments or plea deals. But Teresa and Joe know what they did, and knew the deals their lawyers worked out for them, including the sentencing guidelines.

I agree! I also feel for the kids but know Joe and Tre caused this. That being said, imho Kim G can stfu anytime. She is no better person than any of the Ho'Wives. I am eagerly awaiting Danielle Staub's and a little bit, Jaq, Mel and fam to start tweeting. I'm sure Tiny Jim will begin after he relaxes from the throes of orgasm. Hey party people - made it home in one piece. Only one person tried to kill me on the way which is normally pretty good. Drink is prepared - I'm using a Waterford tumbler tonight in honor of Teresa.

Zoeysmom - I thought you were Kim G. Stop trying to pretend you're not. Speaking of which, I'm thinking about heading over to All About TRH and torment some Teresa fans. I'm evil and petty that way. Is that wrong? Only other board I've ever posted on (occasionally), I use my dead rabbit (unfortunate story) as my user name.

Zoeysmom, you were very close with your "brain" predictions, but had addendums that eliminated you.

12 months for Teresa and 6 months supervised release at home.

Joe 36 months with no deportation.

You certainly nailed that yesterday.  Now we know what the government had up its sleeve.  I did find out that the US Attorneys office does not respond to pre-sentencing inquiries from the media.  Other than a blanket. . . under the law.

Betweenyouandme - I never drink and drive, but decided I deserved one small cocktail (over a 45+ minute period) for the 10 am sentencing that didn't conclude until 5 pm. Even so, I'm still a better driver than most in DC (ie, I have my headlights on after dark and use my turn signal).

Teresa will adjust in jail. People do. What should be interesting is whether she looks around and sees that many people are in jail who did not start with her advantages and gains some humility and some appreciation of a simpler life. She may not, but that is what I hope for her.

Personally, I think the two of them should do the Martha Stewart-Teresa should report right away and Joe should leave the kids with mom and report as well.  They are dragging this out far longer than need be.

I completely agree. I've thought all along the Martha Stewart plan would be a good way to go. If it was me, I would want to get past this as quickly as possible. The whole period of waiting will also be very damaging to the girls. However, I can't see Teresa doing this. She is probably going to stay in major denial, and may believe somehow the prison sentence will disappear.

One last word for tonight.....as I have (shamefully) put off several important chores to follow the news unfolding.....

I do not think Teresa truly understands what has happened to her today...that she has actually been held accountable for HER OWN actions.

I do not think she will understand ANY of it until the day comes when she is escorted to her cell, enters it, hears the door shut behind her and then....AND ONLY THEN...tries the door to discover she can not simply walk out anytime she wishes.....THAT will be justice.....THAT will be the actual moment she can achieve true understanding of her own actions and the consequences thereof...presuming, of course, that she is both capable of and receptive to personal growth....I do not have much hope in that area.....

And how sad is it that an adult in this country, in this age, would not have ANY understanding of the concept of social responsibility until such a consequence is imposed.....

*sigh*

But that's what I was trying to tell you - the Govt. didn't pull out any surprises today. Their arguments to the judge all came straight out of the indictments and pkea deals. The sentencing guidelines were in there. They argued for the maximum sentences based on the crimes committed, and the guidelines for sentencing for those crimes. And there were no private, back-room deals. Everything that happened today vis a vis the defense and prosecution - we knew was going to happen. It was really the judge's day. It was always up to the judge.

On StoopidHousewives site:

Before being sentenced to 15 months in prison, Teresa tearfully told JudgeSalas:

“Thank you your honor for giving me the opportunity to speak to you. I wrote this last night. I get nervous when I speak so I’m going to add things to this. Today you will hear from the wife and mother that I am and the daughter that I am. I’m not going to deny that I’m really scared. I’m blessed but today I’m humbled. I fully take responsibility for my actions. I need to learn to do things for myself. It’s time for me to wake up-my daughters are my life that’s what keeps me going. I’ve done so much crying my daughters are my life. I don’t care about the TV how or materialistic things. We lost my father-in-law and that was the first grandparent we lost. I feel bad my 13-year-old knows anything.”

“I’m more sorry than anyone will ever know. I will make this right no matter what it takes. Now I have even more to give. I will take this experience and continue to do the right thing. I know in my heart everything happens for a reason and I’ve found my reason.”

The attorneys asked for leniency, saying a harsh sentence would cause “untold trauma on the children.

Earlier this year, Judge Esther Salas told Joe that, after prison, he would face immigration proceedings which would “likely result in … your being removed from the United States.”

I think there is a good chance that Joe not only knew she would do that, but encouraged it.  Their logic may have been to save one at the expense of the other.  Thankfully, the judge didn't buy it, but I really think both of them talked about and wanted to try to throw him under the bus rather than spread the blame evenly.

Teresa had months to prepare a statement, and that's what she wrote? It was poorly written and kinda non-sensical. And she wrote it last night? And her lawyers didn't help her write it? What about her "crisis manager?"

I don't think Teresa gets what she has done still.

"I know in my heart everything happens for a reason and I’ve found my reason.”

People typically use that phrase when something bad happens to them that isn't their fault, but a fault of circumstance/someone else's fault/etc.  Her saying that IMO is consistent with the crap that has been on the show where everyone is like "oh how can this be happening to Teresa?!"  Yes, Teresa everything happens for a reason and here it happened because you and Joe broke the law, not because the federal government randomly decided to target your family for no reason.  She says she takes full responsibility, but that statement alone suggests to me she still doesn't get it.

Is the whole statement a transcription?  Because it doesn't entirely make sense, is short, and doesn't express enough recognition of how wrong her actions were.  Not surprising.  She cannot admit anything, even when her livelihood is at stake.

I think she meant that what was happening to her - pleading guilty and facing the judge - was "for a reason." Her raison d'être in life would now be to make amends, learn from her mistakes, set a good example for her "four beautiful daughters" in the future, blah, blah, blah... Remember, this was before sentencing - she was throwing herself at the mercy of the court.

And of course she didn't believe a word of it.

Maybe, but she also says that this experience taught her to live/do things on her own, which again is a way of shifting blame and implying that Joe was the big mastermind.  She was supposed to throw herself at the mercy of the court and be as apologetic as possible, but I don't think she did a very good job.

“Mr. Giudice, you’re a great dad. You love those girls. You would probably take a bullet for them. You would take a bullet for them. You should be proud of that, and every day you should hold that close to you ... have to give you credit for the live you have lived, at least to the people you have loved.” — Salas to Joe, on why she is not giving him a sentence at the top of the recommended range.

What if Joe was single?  Would he be shit out of luck?  Lol.

"You, quite frankly, display genuine remorse. At the end of the day, I think you finally got it. You finally woke up." — Salas to Teresa, after giving her 15 months in prison.

I'd respectfully disagree.  I think she was remorseful...that she got caught.

I was agreeing and complimenting you for saying that the defense was pumping up the probation.  As the transcripts are released we will get a better idea of what transpired.  I certainly don't feel like there is four hours worth of testimony presently being provided the public.

Oh, totally. It was mostly shift-blaming. That's been her strategy from her very first statement post-indictment ("I stand by my husband 100%") to her last before the judge today ("I need to learn to live by myself..."), and every utterance in between. I'm just glad the judge didn't buy it. Guilty!

I know - in fact, I credit YOU for posting all those links that provided us with all the info. we needed to know what the two sides were going to argue today. Especially the prosecution's side. I know you never speculated about back-room deals (others did), which was relevant because everything was out on the table. That's why the "probation only" was so obviously defense PR spin - because it wasn't discussed in any legal documents and by no legal experts.
