Yes. Really.

We're about halfway through Double Agents, which either rocks or sucks depending on what you see that second (Big T & CT? Awesome. Josh? Not so much) The "O.G. Challenge" is now The Challenge: All-Stars, and that will stream on Paramount+, which I'm absurdly upset about. And yes, the 37th season is being cast.

As always: NO RESULTS SPOILERS. This is about casting only. Also, as always, I get the information via Stop Being Polite, with Vevmo credited as a source.

Here's the "Likely to Appear" list:

Quote

Aneesa Ferreira (The Real World: Chicago)

Darrell Taylor (Road Rules Campus Crawl)

Devin Walker-Molaghan (Are You the one? 3)

Fessy Shafaat (Big Brother 20)

Tori Deal (Are you The One? 4)

Tula “Big T” Fazakerley (Shipwrecked UK)

So far, so meh. All six names were cast for Double Agents, and I legit forgot that Tori was on tthe show and quickly eliminated. The one I'm concerned about is Big T, because I don't think she can top what she's done this season.

"Possible" (Women):

Quote

Amber Borzotra (Big Brother 16)

Amber Martinez (Are You The one? 8 )

Anastasiya Yandaltsava (Poland Next Top Model & Warsaw Shore)

Ashley Mitchell (Real World: Explosion)

Cara Maria Sorbello (Fresh Meat 2)

Da’Vonne Rogers (Big Brother 17, 18 & 22)

Gabby Allen (Love Island UK)

Heather Cooke (The Real World: Las Vegas 2011)

Jasmine Reynaud (Real World: Cancun)

Jennifer West (Survival of the fittest UK)

Jemmye Carroll (The Real World: New Orleans 2011)

Kailah Casillas (Real World: Go Big & Lindsay Lohan Beach Club)

Kam Williams (Are you the one? 5)

Kaycee Clark (Big Brother 20)

Kayleigh Morris (Ex on the Beach UK)

Kendal Sheppard (Road Rules: Campus Crawl)

Laurel Stucky (Fresh Meat 2)

Louise Hazel (Olympian & The Challenge: Champs vs. Pros/ Champs vs. Stars 2)

Marie Roda (The Real World: St. Thomas)

Melissa Reeves (Ex on the beach UK)

Michele Fitzgerald (Survivor)

Nany Gonzalez (Real World: Las Vegas 2011)

Natalie Anderson (The Amazing Race & Survivor)

Nicole Zanatta (Real World: Skeletons)

Sofia Suescun (Winner of Survivor Spain & Big Brother Spain)

Ruthie Alcaide (The Real World: Hawaii)

As always, I'm not expecting all of them to make the cut. There are some legitimately heavy hitters listed in Natalie, Nicole and Laurel. Cara Maria would be well-rested to return to prominence. Sofia is a Survivor champion from Spain, so I'm guessing she's fit as all hell. I don't know if Ruthie is near her peak from early in her "career." Michelle also won Survivor and finished third to Natalie and Tony in Winners at War. Louise's inclusion could be interpreted as the acknowledgment of casting Lolo as a mistake. And Kaycee has played professional tackle football. It's a shame that's not as big of a running joke as Lolo being an Olympian.

"Possible" (Men):

Quote

Alton Williams (The Real World: Las Vegas 2002)

Asaf Goren (Are You The One? 4, Big Brother: Israel, tons of other shit)

Casper Smart (The Challenge: Champs vs. Stars 2, J.Lo’s something)

Cody Califiore (Big Brother 16& 22)

Cory Wharton (Real World: Explosion & Teen Mom)

CT Tamburello (Real World: Paris)

David Alexander (Big Brother 21 & 22)

Derrick Kosinski (Road Rules: X-treme)

Derrick Henry (Are You the One? 5, Ex on the Beach)

Demetrius “Mechie” Harris (Ex on the Beach 3)

Frank Sweeney (Real World: San Diego 2011)

Gus Smyrnios (Floribama Shore)

Hunter Barfield (Are you the one?3 )

Jay Starret (Survivor & Ex on the Beach)

Johnny Bananas (Real World: Key West)

Jordan Wiseley (Real World: Portland)

Josh Martinez (Big Brother 19)

Joss Mooney (Ex on the Beach UK)

Jozea Flores (Big Brother 18, Champs vs. Stars 2, the alternate casting pool)

Kyle Christie (Geordie Shore)

Nam Vo (Ultimate Beastmaster)

Nelson Thomas (Are You the One? 3)

Paulie Calafiore (Big Brother 18, Ex on the Beach)

Scott Herman (Real World: Brooklyn)

Sean Lineker (Shipwrecked UK)

Theo Campbell ( Love Island UK)

Tony Raines (Real World: Skeletons)

Wendell Holland (Survivor)

Wes Bergmann (The Real World: Austin)

Greeeeeaaaatt . . . Paulie and his brother. Yippee. Alton's name brings up how stuff from All-Stars could spill into S37. Wendell is a surprise; if you don't remember, he's done two seasons of Survivor, won once, and his "thing" is having a toothpick in his mouth. During Winners at War, the sick part of me wanted him to sneeze, just for the possibility of the toothpick taking someone's eye out. I'm thinking Frank's name is just there; he's been good about not coming back after Free Agents. Why come back now? Sean is a surprise; then again, Rogan was first out in Vendettas, and he's become a semi-regular. I still think Sean looked like a good-looking guy BMP nabbed at the airport to be dumped into WOTW2.

Johnny might be back. Yaaaaaaaay.

"Unlikely to Appear" (with notes from SPS):

Quote

Amanda Garcia

Ashley Kelsey- Very pregnant

Bayleigh Dayton

Camila Nakagawa- BANNED

Dee Nguyen- BANNED

Georgia Harrison- Banned?

Jenna Compono- pregnant

Lolo Jones- Olympics or whatever

Theresa Jones- pregnant

Chase McNary

Chris “Swaggy C” Williams

Dunbar Merrill

Jay Mitchell

Leroy Garrett

Shane Landrum (Road Rules: Campus Crawl)- Banned?

Stephen Bear- Banned and on the run

Turabi “Turbo” Camkiran

Victor Arroyo- bitter

Vince Gliatta

Zach Nichols- Baby on the way

I want it on record that Turbo should return, even if it means locating a season in Turkey. No real surprises; Dee shot herself in the foot with a rocket launcher, Leroy is alledgely retired after Double Agents, Jenna and Zach are expecting (and the kid might reverse direction if it sees the father), and Bear is a disaster. I hope BMP got enough from three seasons of his slimy ass, because he ain't coming back.

So . . . . what do you guys think of the early speculation?

Wes already announced that he won't be on the show because he's involved in another show. It's about startup that his company mentors or something like that.

Too late. "Welcome to the Real World/Road Rules/Big Brother/Are You The One/Survivor/Shipwrecked/XYZ Shore/Ex on the Beach/Beastmaster/Olympics Challenge!"

I don't recognize 80% of these names, and the ones I do from Double Agents are not exciting to me. I think I am officially just too old for this show. (She says, with her Millenial side part and skinny jeans)

Fun fact: Michele dated both Jay and Wendell. The latter was made uncomfortably clear during the last season of Survivor. I continue to find it interesting that Michele was rumored to be on Challenge 33, and then she and Jay were dropped days before departure. And I'm sure they won't bring up how Michele's buddies (including Wendell) conspired to get Natalie to lose Survivor 40. But I hope Natalie remembers that and smokes all of them.

Michele was also defying COVID protocols in the early days of the pandemic, so she'd fit right in with Josh and Kaycee.

Not surprised to see David and Cody from BB on the “possible” list of contestants. I don’t see either adding much entertainment though. Cody is more likeable than Paulie (IMO) and is athletic, but he’s boring. Also, since he’s in a relationship, there’s not even the hook-up potential. David is also pretty boring.

I know this is not a Survivor thread but still.  Natalie did not deserve to win Survivor 40, hell she did not even deserve to finish in second place.  I am not saying this because I dislike her, I would be saying this about anyone who came back Edge of Extinction.  I am still annoyed that, that one dude (I always forget his name and I am too lazy to look it up) won his season after spending nearly the entire season on Edge of Extinction.

Still it is part of the game but Tony outplayed everyone that season and I am not even a huge fan of Tony.  But Natalie's name should not have even been anywhere near the conversation for winning that season.  If anything, Michelle got royally screwed because she should have finished in second place.  Because her and Tony had to play the actual game.

If Michele Fitzgerald gets on The Challenge, she will get in an alliance that gets decimated, save herself with timely comp wins and then whine that it's everyone else's fault they don't want to work with her because she's such a threat, because that's literally the only reality show strategy she knows.

Now Wendell would be interesting, considering he was edited two entirely different ways on his two seasons: quiet, hard-working sociable powerhouse on his winning season, and hot-headed, arrogant jock on Survivor 40. It'll be curious to see which Wendell comes to The Challenge.

It'll depend on if he wants airtime or not. If he does, he needs to let his asshole side out and if he doesn't care about airtime then he'll just be quiet and fade like he did on Ghost Island.

I thought that Michele dated Pete from the Survivor: Philippines, and not Jay?

Jay has confirmed that he had something with Michele, not sure it was actual dating or more of a series of hookups situation. But Michele has dated a few people from the show, so I don’t think they’re mutually exclusive.

And for the record, I agree that Natalie shouldn’t have won 40 and I was honestly a little put off by how bitter she seemed about her loss, even though I like her very much. Also I believe the guy who won EoE was Chris.

This casting spec list is super early and basically everyone up in the air is everyone they know received an interest call and not a reflection at all of how likely they actually are to participate. The only people on the “don’t expect” list are people who clearly aren’t going, because they’re pregnant, have said they’re done, or have been “banned.” For instance, Louise has apparently been called every season since champs versus stars but has never accepted.

I am surprised that Cody would do a Challenge with Paulie since on Big Brother he didn't defend Paulie's behavior as much as you would expect him too. He would probably either be first out or make it to the end since he is so athletic and hates confrontation. I guess MTV wants to capitalize on the Day/David drama from Big Brother.

I haven't heard of anything from her but her involvement (as the victim) in some of Bear's legal disaster probably mean they don't want anyone on that brings up the revenge porn guy with the teenage girlfriend and lying problem.

I'd be disappointed to find out that Camila isn't banned.  I'd be disappointed to find out Georgia is.  (Though I don't think there's exactly a list of officially banned contestants.)  I would like to think Camila is lying, because they should never bring her back.  (Though it would have been interesting for WoW 2 assuming she would have been on the non-American team, but still not worth it.)

Are we starting to think Johnny may be done with the regular show?  It's a good way to go out, but I'm surprised if he went out without having a FINAL SEASON.  I'm sure he could have that if he wanted.  I think LeRoy could  too, but in his case, I think he's wise to keep it to himself this is (supposedly) his swan song.

Camila is a person I don't care to ever see again on the Challenge. When she's on, she sucks the life out of the show. She's such a poor sport, I think the worst ever on this show. Her drunken tirades are exhausting. She's draining to watch.

Georgia was unoffically banned or at least put on a time out before the Bear stuff as pictures of her in blackface surfaced after her last season.  So MTV was not willing to have anyone one with that kind of heat especially now in today's climate.

I'm one foot in and one foot out when I think about it. I haven't heard anything that Total Madness was his last season but if it was, I understand. That was a good season to hang it up. He ended on a high note.

He's seemingly less of a dick than he used to be and he makes for entertaining TV. The crop of new cast members they introduce to the show aren't shit starters, pot stirrers or pranksters. I think the show needs a balance game and drama. I think a lot of the new people don't bring a good balance of drama.

Missy from Survivor 39 (The One With All the Sexual Harrassment) was raked across the coals and almost got more grief for supporting sexual harassment than the guy who did the actual sexual harassment, which is the most 2019 thing to do, I can't even. She would be an interesting fit for The Challenge.

I'm glad Jay is getting a paycheck out of competing, mostly losing, causing no drama and then being someone's easy skull every time a physical elimination comes up. Live your dreams, Jay!

Wonder how many Big Brother contestants will be there. Kaycee might have to look outside her own show to find cult-- uh, alliance members.

That's by her own report. A lot of people who no longer get called, for a variety of reasons, still claim they get called. I mean, Jemmye claimed she got called every season even though it was clear she'd give a rib to get back on the show and jumped at the chance to be on All Stars with basically no notice. Cast members know production isn't going to publicly say "No, we didn't call him/her." I highly doubt Camila got called after her Champs vs Stars incident and I don't think she'll ever be called again. She was already an insurance nightmare for the CvS thing, and her Dirty 30 outburst is even worse in the context of the heightened awareness of racism. Jordan also claims he wasn't given a sit out, but I think it's quite apparent that he was. And Rogan was getting "dental surgery" on the day of the reunion last year.

He made quite a bit of noise after winning TM about possibly retiring, but I think he basically said then, and is still saying now, that he's not sure one way or the other. He seems to have a lot of projects going on at the moment that he clearly is prioritizing over being on the challenge. I think he would probably do another if the conditions and timing were right, but the days of him doing every season are clearly done--assuming he isn't on this one (and all signs indicate he isn't), it will have been a full year and a half of him not participating in a challenge, which is the longest stretch he's ever had by far. And I can see the all star version being far more attractive to him at this point due to the shorter filming time.

I've come a long way on Johnny. I used to loathe and detest him, then started to feel like he was growing up around FR and sided with him on a few things, which was shocking to me(though he still managed to lose me with some of what he said and did that season). At this point I do see him as a happier, more fulfilled person--at least some of what drove me crazy about him in the past was his defensiveness and unwillingness to admit any fault, and he seems much less defensive now. I appreciate that he's acknowledged that he used to be really terrible. And I really didn't even dislike him on TM.  I attribute a lot of it to Morgan. She seems to have been a really positive influence in his life. His show also seems to have evened him out. My armchair analysis is that in the past Johnny was super ambitious and had a lot of bravado but was clearly insecure, angry, and quick to lash out at any narcissistic injury. He seems genuinely happy now. If you don't loathe Johnny with the fire of a thousand suns, I recommend checking out some of the reaction videos to his first look segments that he did with Morgan last year on the First look youtube channel. They're honestly cute together.

I don't know about that.  He may have flown under the radar that season but winning it will just enable more dickishness from him in the future.

Producers give him home field advantage so why would he quit now?  Plus the regular Challenge has twenty something women who are dumb enough to hook up with him while the All Stars, the women are older, either married or wise to his schtick.

I cannot believe The Challenge got Michaela. And Michelle. And Michele and Wendell. What is this, Survivor: The Challenge? Survivor: Millennials vs Gen X-adjacent The Challenge? Did Jay handpick these people? Good night nurse.

Looking at the list on SBP.

  1. WTF was The Circle?
  2. Anyone following Survivor Romania? Emy looks like she belongs on The Challenge.
  3. WTF was Too Hot To Handle?
  4. Looking at Mark, my mind goes to Hasan Minhaj, formerly of The Daily Show.
  5. Yeah, way too many Survivor people and no Natalie. At least we get Jay back for one more go.
  6. Ultimate bright side: even with all the usual suspects returning, there's no Johnny. That's cause to smile.

I'm not unhappy with this cast, I just can't pick my jaw up off the floor at all the Survivor people. I never thought my encyclopedic knowledge of Survivor Millennials vs Gen X would come in handy ever again, but they literally have three people from that season, and six people from Survivor total, as of now. Michele and Wendell aren't shocks, but I honestly thought both Michaela and Michelle Schubert were done with reality TV.

And Tommy won one challenge total? I mean, a challenge beast he was not, as far as I remember, though I've blocked most of Survivor 39 out.

I can’t even picture them being on the Challenge... except Michele. I can picture Michele. I’ve seen interviews and podcasts that are also visually recorded of Michele. I think her personality is a fit for the Challenge, especially when she’s had a couple of drinks. I don’t see her winning any challenges but the personality is a fit.

Michaela will bring some drama. She has no poker face.

I watched this on Netflix last year when I ran out of good stuff to binge watch. It took me a little while to understand how someone wins the game but it is one of stupidest shows I’ve ever watched.

It’s a game show that somehow incorporates a social media platform. The contestants never meet face to face until the end, if they make it to the end.

I think you're thinking of Michele with one l, not to be confused with Michelle with two ls, who is a much more obscure player and, I believe, a Christian missionary. I wouldn't be surprised at all if she doesn't make the final cast.

After seeing the breakdown of Survivor people, I have to think they're trying to invest as Jay as one of the faces of this show. Michaela and Michelle are both from his season, and he has a history with Michele. This is a Survivor crew who will stick together and ride for one another.

I was stunned to see Tommy's name. Does this mean he's done teaching? Generally schools don't let you take two months off in April to do an MTV show, which is very different than a CBS show in terms of family acceptability. He seemed to be so committed to his job during Survivor (and after Survivor--I saw him at a professional conference right before the pandemic).

Which means they need to get rid of their "need a skull for the final" requirement if they want him to be anything but an early boot. Or do away with physical eliminations entirely. He's too small to ever make a final as long as there's a chance he'd face a physical elimination. It's just science.

I get shades of BB's Victor from Vendettas when I look at Wendell's physique and social game, not sure why. Michele Fitzgerald could thrive here. Challenges were the only thing keeping her in Survivor.

I do look forward to Devin yelling, "Survivor sucks!" at every opportunity now.

This was my reaction too lol! Although looking at the cast, I almost think getting those 2 would be better than Kaycee/Josh/Fessy again. All 3 are boring and/or unlikeable. Now, Paulie is unlikeable and Cody is boring too, but if we have to have BB people who fit those categories, can we at least switch it up?!?

The Real World people are really dwindling here. The last few seasons of the RW were crap, so it’s not a huge loss to not have the most recent RW people, but still.

I watch Survivor sporadically, so I don’t know these Survivor people, but at the rate it’s going, it seems like eventually it will be Survivor v Big Brother, with a few MTV add-ons sprinkled in.

I watched this on Netflix last year when I ran out of good stuff to binge watch. It took me a little while to understand how someone wins the game but it is one of stupidest shows I’ve ever watched.

This slander! I mean, you're not wrong, but The Circle was entertaining as hell lol.

I still can't believe Michelle Schubert is a possible cast member. I have a feeling she won't make the final list but even still I am just shocked she's even a possibility.

I think 1 L Michele would make an amazing cast member. Her energy is perfect for this show and as someone else said, especially if she's drunk.

As someone who just came back this year for Double Agents after 10 years away... I will be leaving again after seeing this list. I really missed watching Real World/Road Rules Challenge during the decade we didn't have cable. But I think it's time I have to acknowledge that that show ended, and was replaced by the spinoff Viacom Show Challenge. Since I don't watch any of those shows, this really doesn't hold the same draw for me.

I think you're thinking of Michele with one l, not to be confused with Michelle with two ls

Yes, I'm referring to Michele with one 'L' 😁

I LOVED the people on the show. The people were entertaining. I should clarify I thought the game was stupid lol

After seeing the breakdown of Survivor people, I have to think they're trying to invest as Jay as one of the faces of this show. Michaela and Michelle are both from his season, and he has a history with Michele. This is a Survivor crew who will stick together and ride for one another.

Another thing I thought of is that they are trying to make up for the lack of Survivor by having more Survivor personalities on The Challenge.

Have they started production for a new season of Survivor yet?

Agreed on the entertainment value of The Circle. I watched the French and Brazilian versions too, and am super happy it’s back again starting tomorrow. I missed it somehow...who from The Circle will potentially be on The Challenge?

Watching the US version on Netflix gave me the appetite to watch the British version and I was disappointed. IMO the people were boring on the British version.

Ed from The Circle will be on S37. I had to google him. Once I did, I vaguely remembered... he’s the guy that came on with his mom. I think they were on for one episode and got booted.

Thanks. Something too funny: Josh’s “How you ladies doin’?” pic is sandwiched between Jeremiah and Kelz, both of whom look like ten-alarm fires.

Michaela, Michele and Michelle. Yeah, that’s not gonna be weird at all. 🙄

And no Jay, who either has COVID or posted a racist tweet 10 years ago, depending on what you read in Vevmo's cast discussion thread. We'll know next season which it is. Everything Dee touches dies!
