Was I supposed to think that Jamie and Trevor were sexy together on stage? She reminded me of a drunk bridesmaid trying to hook up with a groomsman at her cousin’s wedding.

Looks like drama for all the couples next week - or at least edited to look that way.

Im so tempted to peek under that spoiler tag upthread.

I think Rudy is a good performer. She and Matt could hate each other, but on stage she performs like they are lovers. That's what people pay to see, not people on stage who can't stand each other. So I give her props for that, she's good.

She is a professional singer, not a waitress or opthomalic technician or patient care supervisor or whatever the rest of the cast is.  She can just sing, without trying to "change it up" to make it special.  That thing Natascha and Ryan did was ridiculous.  When I go to hear a cover band, I want to hear the song kind of like the original, not see a salsa dance where none was needed.

So, it’s not a singing competition. It’s not a love competition. It’s a “who appears to have the most chemistry by looking at and touching each other the most on stage while singing” contest. So, it’s really an acting competition then?

Ryan made the dreaded mistake of focusing more on his guitar and the crowd, but Natascha could have saved it by saying how she’s such a bumbling fool so head over heels in love, she couldn’t concentrate on the lyrics or the mic cues because being so close to Ryan on stage had her heart so aflutter that she nearly passed out. Ryan, sensing this because of their deep, soulful connection, realized he needed to break eye contact and step away so Natascha could regain her composure. And, see, folks, it worked! After that Natascha got back on track. Are you going to penalize them because they’re TOO in love? For shame.

If who goes was truly up to the guest judges like Harrison said, then Natascha and Ryan probably would have been better off with a safe rendition of the song. They tried to change it up too much and it threw Natascha off, and while she’s obviously an experienced performer, the mistakes affected her on stage. Earlier they told others that they wouldn’t even recognize the song like that was a good thing

Rudi and Matt did well probably partly because they didn’t reinvent Shallow.

Can we talk about that wedding for a minute?

First, at what point were Bri and Chris given wedding attire to change into?  Producers:  "Bri, we want you to come into camera wearing a white dress, so that viewers will think that you and Chris are getting married.  Won't that be funny?"  At least the actual bride was not wearing white.

The singing made me uncomfortable for some reason.  The bride and groom just had to stand and look lovingly at each other during this uncomfortable song.  I have not been to very many weddings, so am not certain this is the case, but isn't more usual for songs and stuff to happen BEFORE the vows?

Lastly, the officiant.  She was strange, right?  Why was she dressed like a guest?  All the bling?

And the vows she made the couple recite were so personal.  If the couple had read those vows to each other, that would have been beautiful.  But the fact that they were parroting her saying personal things such as, "I love you more than life itself (or whatever)" -- ugh, squicky.

I signed off all of the Bachelor-related shows when Meredith and Ian broke up, but I've liked this.  Though, of course, the premise is ridiculous - I mean, hasn't Lady Antebellum kind of proven you don't have to be a couple (real or fake) to successfully perform Just a Kiss?

While watching, I get the feeling EVERYONE loves Bri & Chris and NOBODY likes Rudi & Matt.  This is when I turn my eyes to social media for reassurance that I am not alone ("...in these uncertain times.")

My breakdown:
Bri & Chris: I find her really bland; they lack any type of depth to their proclaimed "love"
Jamie & Trevor: annoying & cringeworthy on and off stage
Natasha & Ryan: fun & talented, I don't see any romantic connection & appreciate them not trying to fake one
Rudi & Matt: Best at performing & sound great together; neither "in love" or totally friend-zoned, which makes them interesting to watch.  For me.

I’ve felt guilty for thinking it, so I don’t  think I’ve said it here. But I’ve wondered how much “showmancing” Bri is doing. I feel like I can see  her wheels turning in her head when she talks, like she’s really planned what to say. And she looks pretty testy next week. So they might flame out.

Also, I loved Meredith and Ian  I was so sad when they broke up

Matt took to Twitter about his response to Rudi. Note Ryan’s reaction.

Ugh, I was waiting for someone else to bring up this uncomfortable topic. For all we know, that wedding was phony as heck. The minister or whoever she was could have been real, it's Vegas after all, but the entire segment was cringe worthy. Plus, was it a coincidence that the show sent the black-and-white singing team to perform at the wedding of a black-and-white couple? It's like every newscast everywhere, when the subject being discussed is African American, so is the interviewer. This whole segment was just a setup so TPTB could tease us in previews that Bri and Chris were getting married in Vegas.

Hated it.

Yeah, that chapel visit was cringy. I think I’ve seen the owner/ minister before. I think she’s like a Vegas institution.

There have been some awkwardly designed dates over seasons, and this one was up there.

Jaime is forever 16, but it was nice to see her confident before a performance instead of verging on tears/vomiting. Trevor looks old as fuck paired with her. But hey, who would've thought they'd be a genuine pairing?

Surprised Rudi kept it together and prioritized the performance but even more surprised that she was level-headed about Matt awkwardly side-stepping her love declaration, which in Bachelor Nation seems to mandate immediate self-destruction. She cried about it, but then decided it was okay for him to want time, which is...normal and mature!!

Felt bad for Natacsha and thought it was weird that she let Ryan's whim to do an obviously cheesy, meandering arrangement both dictate their song and ultimately torpedo her. She really must like him to indulge him taking such a pointless risk. I hope they stayed together - it's gotta be awful worrying your partner will dump you for failing Z-List American Idol.

Bre and Chris are sweet but bland.

I can't imagine being vocally talented and then being judged by someone as insipid as Lauren Burnham Luyendyk for my "connection."

This show is ridiculously stupid.

It might have had a chance at being entertaining if it made every contestant sing solo every week and then the winners get paired up on and go on a date and see what happens, but keep the "connection" and the "music" separate. This current format just forces everyone to unnecessarily grope each other on stage in order to stay on the show.

And what is the prize again? (Besides love?) When even the winner of American Idol nowadays remains a nobody, why would anyone cry over winning this lame contest?

They should have done Nashville Bachelor, where the Bachelor is a country music singer and the contestants are singers too and they they could have mashed the love and the singing together. But no, we got this mish-mash mess.

I agree!  They should have just sang "Perfect" as it is.  They think they can do a better version than Ed Sheeran?  I didn't like it.  If they had sung it as written, while gazing into each others eyes, they'd probably still be on the show.

Don't bother! It was just me speculating that Matt and Rudi win because Matt posted a pic of them in front of a tour bus on IG but now I see that was just from this ep so it means nothing lol.

I think they are going to make an album together and I know for sure one part of the win was going on tour but I guess now that likely won't happen.

I feel like TPTB probably coaxed Natascha and Ryan into that performance because they wanted to keep Jamie and Trevor around but knew Natascha and Ryan were much better singers so they had to find a way to make it not completely ridiculous to get rid of N/R over T/J.

I still think Matt and Rudi will win. They're the best singers left by a long shot and actually sound fantastic together. Their story is also more real since they're not trying to pretend like they are a love for the ages even though they've only known each other for 2 weeks.

It is so easy to forget how compressed the shooting schedule is. At least these couples or “couples” get to spend more time together than regular Bach/ette couples, but it’s still hyperspeed-producer-driven-mind game’s as romance and “connection.”

I caved and read your spoilertagged info, figured it was wrong, for the reason you said, and then looked up spoilers. I’m skeptical about what I read. I guess we’ll see next Monday.

Yes, it's so pathetic how the franchise tries to keep these people relevant when they have no relevance at all.  And how about know-it-all Rachel who had more to say than the music experts and her silent puppy Brian?

The show has such a focus on a "connection" when they're performing and it is part of the judging.  But, this leads to the couple performing to each other and not to the audience.  I think if I were in the audience, I wouldn't have enjoyed that performance.

That was great how Natasha pulled a “frenemy” move telling Julia that Brandon said he would have probably stayed with Savannah. But I think Julia was looking for a loophole to let him off the hook: Natasha said you definitively would have stayed with Savannah! Did you say definitively?!? He wasn’t lying to say no. No one said “definitively” but you, Julia. I don’t think either one of them have that word in their vocabulary.

Matt and Rudi were amazing!!! She’s crazy—but they’re good singers!! Jamie and Trevor are okay. I think he’s a better singer than she is. I mean, they’re all better than I am, so who am I to judge! Oh, okay, the real judges think they’re terrible, so I didn’t think they were that bad!

I'm catching up on past episodes.

I can't be the only one who laughed out loud when Julia accused Natasha of trying to sabotage her as a performer.

Julia, have you heard Natasha sing? She doesn't need to sabotage anybody, especially not you. She is LIT.

Rudi, shoes off the bed, Geezy pete, were you raised in a barn?

Is all the Rudi/Matt angst producer driven, and they end up finding true love and winning this thing? And speaking of, does anyone win anything?

Such BS, having to "fall in love and end up married" after meeting someone two weeks ago. And now fun-loving crazy Rudi wants to "be with her freaking family" instead of in Nashville, singing on the Ryman* stage? WTH.

This show sucks. I also think Fleiss has hours of stock crying sounds recorded, along with snot-sucking audio and face-sucking noises to be edited in later.

*ETA. It just didn't look like the Ryman so I did a search. They are singing at the Hall of Fame's CMA Theater. The Ryman would have been WAY cooler, but this is the Bachelor after all. Eh.

I know. I totally don't get it. Can't people be good friends and good singers together? Or is the show forcing people to go home who aren't getting married on the last episode. Just stay, have fun together and sing on national tv. But for some reason, TPTB won't let them.

Wow.  That was an easy choice.   Chris and Bri had so much authentic emotion and the songs were perfect.   Trevor and what’s her name....the emotion was so forced and she was just over the top and looked like she was play acting.

This series was terrible. But for what it’s worth, Chris and Bri deserved to win. Their love was genuine, and they really knocked it out of the park. All series I thought Chris’s voice wasn’t as strong as Bri’s, but I was wrong. Maybe they just hadn’t previously chosen songs that showcased his range like these two songs tonight. They were amazing.

I still think Chris’ voice isn’t very strong.  But these two killed it tonight.  Far more skilled singers than Jamie and Trevor.
I think Bri looks very 80s, no judgement here lol as it’s my generation.  I wish them much success.

Agreed.  Bri definitely needs a makeover.  They seem like a nice couple but just a bit boring, esp for TV.   They sounded great tonight.

I don’t get Rudi and Matt leaving at all.  Chris & Bri didn’t use the fantasy suite so it wasn’t like they were going to force them to do anything.  Also, they already spent the night together in the motel on the way to Vegas so what was the big deal?  At a minimum, they seemed to have a good friendship so they could have just faked it until they won.  Think it was definitely producer driven.  They wanted someone to “win” that at least had a chance of staying together.

I think Trevor is a phoney.  My guess is they don’t last long if they are even still together now.  She Seems like a nice girl but is just way too young and immature.

I thought this show started out pretty strong but really lost steam as it went on and tonight's ending was just kind of blah.   Chris and Bri are fine as winners, it just wasn't very exciting.  I was getting more annoyed as the show went on, thinking that they were going to reward Jamie and Trevor but I kept telling myself that Jamie would have gotten a better edit if she was the winner.  Such a flake to the very end.

I agree that production probably put a lot of pressure on Matt about the "relationship" aspect because he and Rudi were the best musical couple left.

Well that was.... an ending. Very lackluster. Chris and Bri are good but Rudi and Matt were just on a different level musically and I’m bummed we were deprived of a finale performance from them.

On the upside Lauren Zima posted a where are they now... Rudi and Matt talk every day and haven’t ruled out anything. Trevor never moved to Nashville and he and Jamie are not together. Shocking, I know. Julia tried to get back with Sheridan and he gave it a hard pass. Good for him.

The editing monkeys sure were busy trying to cobble together tension between Bri and Chris.  That clip of her saying “my heart doesn’t lie” was in the promos but I don’t think it was in the actual show, and there were teasers that sounded ominous, but then they wouldn’t show Chris or Bri’s face saying it. So who knows when they really said it.

I’m really glad for them. They ended up looking like normal, levelheaded people and they’re good performers who sound great together. Before Jewel said it I was impressed with how well they harmonized on the Ed Sheeran  song.

Trevor and Jamie: their performances were meh, and I will always think it’s icky and porny when a couple plays up the sex as much they did. No way he is moving to Nashville for a long-term relationship with her.

My best take away: Jamie & Trevor didn't win. Yay.  I also really liked that Bir & Chris were both a "Nope!" to the fantasy suite.  I hated that Matt & Rudi were out after the first 30 minutes, and we didn't get to hear them sing or even practice.  Boo.

Is it possible Matt thought he' had to declare love and/or propose if they made it to the end?  I like them as a couple, & feel they'd already faced some realistic relationship issues together.  I'm telling myself Matt just chose not to cheapen his real feelings for Rudi by playing them up just to win.  Yeah...I'm SURE that's it!

I've been following Matt, Rudi & Sheridan on Instagram and still like what I see of them as people.  I LOVE that Sheridan was apparently open to reconnecting with Julia UNTIL he watched the 2nd episode - then, he stopped returning her texts. Good for him!  (Per some articles I read on Twitter.)

I'm watching this right now and I laughed when Matt was hiding behind the sear back on the plane, then peeked up over the sear behind Chris and Bri.

Oh dear, Jamie is ruining that pretty song with that super-nasally twang. I'm liking Matt more. He seems to be a thoughtful guy who is thinking beyond the show. He doesn't see love as a competition. I don't see why Matt and Rudi can't just compete with the feelings they have for each other. They don't have to be ready to get married.

I am so disappointed Matt and Rudi are leaving.

I was hoping Matt and Rudi would surprisingly return to compete, but I guess not.

Chris and Bri were only there for 5 minutes and already the guy is ragging on them about their connection. Even most in love people can be off. I feel like the show is manufacturing this because they choose not to do the fantasy suite.

Now that Matt and Rudi are gone I want Chris and Bri to win.

Jamie and Trevor, she touches him too much. I would find that distracting. I think you can show spark and connection while performing without tons of touching.

I hope Chris and Bri just smash it. I kind of think Jamie and Trevor didn't do that great because you don't say "cute" and "adorable" first about the relationship if the music is outstanding.  We will see!

Fix the show:  Change it to "Listen to the Music" and have a houseful of singles see who can create the best performance DUO and "find love" - but not necessarily with the same person.  Have contestant choose someone a person for either a date OR a platonic music-related opportunity.  Worse performance each week gets the boot, leaving a stranded partner behind for "drama".

Because really I liked watching the friendships, showmances, rehearsals and performances, and having not just a favorite couple to root for, but favorite singers & favorite individuals, too.

The drummer of The Final Rose band looks like Richard Blaise.

Chris and Bri's first song was lovely. The second song seems pitched a little too low for them.

The audience is really into them.

Jamie tried too hard to sell their relationship and both their songs sounded terrible.   Trevor might have cared, but he has been working on his singing career for a while (including Idol).   I think their finale performance set him back. Not surprised they aren’t together.

Chris and Bri just clicked on stage.  That first song was perfect for where they were in their relationship.   A well deserved win.

This is such a weird hybrid show.  No wonder Matt bailed.   And glad Sheridan isn’t getting back with Julia.  I am sure when he watched the show, his no became a hell no.

Overall, this show was pretty well cast.  There were a couple of jerks and divas, but mostly decent singers who were open to the weirdness of the show.  I didn’t love it, but I liked it more than I expected.   Just hope Bri and Chris’s tour isn’t so delayed that no one cares.
