I asked EB that several months ago and got my head bitten off for it lol! He claimed it was his choice and shows his affection for melody. Um, okay 🤣

Didn't he also claim it was disrespectful for a man to call a woman by her first name unless he was mad at her or reprimanding her or some other negative crap? Like calling a woman by her name is shorthand for "shut up." 🙄

Not that it w@s disrespectful just that he would only call her Nikki if he was angry. Which I guess is the same thing lol!

Agreed, like Christmas I'd like an old episode if they are running a rerun. I always wondered why they can't show a new episode anyway?  They are filmed weeks ago so it's not like any actor is being put to work on a holiday and most people tape the show so if you're not home you can watch later.

I'm more than a little surprised Victor doesn't make any and all women greet him by saying "Under His Eye".

Even Baby.

It’s most likely due to football games preempting Y&R in the pacific time zone. The Sun Bowl started at what would have been 11 am on the west coast, which would have preempted Y&R there.

Detest Victor. Strongly dislike Sharon and Claire (mainly because the writers seem to want to force us to like them). Diane is fine, was hoping she would turn out to be sneakier. With Phyllis it depends on the day/storyline. They have been writing her too over the top recently. I like her when she is toned down, which she is sometimes with her kids and Jack. Loved her with Jack.

Jack and Sharon are my absolute favorites. Victor is a horror show, and I find it a little disturbing that he has so many guy fans. I’ve come to enjoy Diane. Claire isn’t awful, but the writing that crams her into scenes and heaps praise on her is. Victoria and Cole getting their daughter back could have been such a good story. Phyllis was dead to me when she cheated on Jack the first time. Nothing about her character has endeared her to me since then.

Nick Newman is in a special category all his own. Fucking Garbage Ape.

I'm in an MST time zone and both Y&R and B&B were broadcast an hour earlier than usual to accommodate the football game and the local midday news. Seems to me the network could just as easily have shown a new episode here instead of a recent repeat. But I guess the decision is made based on how it effects the Eastern time zone. The bowl game was in the way so the whole country got the repeat.

So weird Vic refuses to ever say Nikki’s name to her face, and instead mumbles, “baby” to her.  That’s supposed to be romantic?  Ick.

I seem to remember as a kid, overhearing when my mom used to watch, he would constantly growl to Ash, “Oh Ashleeee, my bee-yoo-tee-full dahlink”.  Yuck, creeped me the heck out.  Real glad they don’t show clips of that.

Since I was not a viewer in the year of the rerun, but after a while, I was able to figure out what was going on.

As much as things chance, things remain the same.  The best part was when Sharon was ripping Manic Phyllis🕷️a new ass hole, but true to form, Manic Phyllis🕷️ is still defiant and still nothing is her fault.

The other characters were easy to recognize but it took his voice for me to recognize  Don Diamont as Brad (Bill Spencer).

I didn't watch today's episode but I caught one scene with Jill, Kay, Nikki, and Jack and it was fantastic.

The four actors were all fully-engaged with their scene partners, unlike now when it often seems like the actors are just waiting to speak their lines and leave. Plus, IMO the dialogue actually was meaningful and had substance, unlike now when the characters say the same simple things over and over and over. They do it across several episodes, locations, and costume changes but the repetition is still noticeable, and to me, boredom-inducing.

I feel like watching Y&R used to be like having a pleasant midday meal but now it's like stale junk food from a convenience store.

I occasionally watch the French version of Y&R (Les Feux de l'Amour) on TVA in Canada; they are 7-8 years behind. Except for Cane's scenes, the show had notably better acting & dialog than current Y&R shows. Victor's voice-dubber has a peevish little voice that makes me laugh whenever I hear it. Not the voice of a "Great" man.

I've looked and been unable to find it, too.  Hopefully someone else has a clue?

My streaming service has a day go by before they show it.

I confess, I sneaked back and watched the Christmas epi--the only women I recognized were  Nikki and possibly Lauren.

When victor blindfolded Nikki I had a horrible sick feeling they were going to allude to some sex that would make us vomit.

Takeaway from today:  Nikki really hasn't changed much, Victoria still has that feral look. Sharon could talk without the vocal fry and that face actually moved {I guess this was before the fillers migrated to her voice box} and SURPRISE, SURPRISE:  Phyllis' acting was much more natural; if I had watched back then I might have some liking for her,  And, her teeth weren't neon.

It looked like a patchwork denim print, more suited to pj bottoms, but I did like his overall look. I thought he and Lauren looked like they were going to a country music awards dinner, but they looked great anyway.

And I may be one of the very few, but I thought Abby looked great in her moon disco dress. Too bad she and she and whatshisname are dullsville.

I look forward to the "classic" episodes they show on holidays. The oldie they showed on Thanxgiving and the tainted face cream oldie were real treats. I always wish they'd be brave enough to show episodes that had previous actors in some of the roles as well.

I think "Abby" is fine when they give her something or someone to play off of; and a decent storyline. I really hate to see her put on recurring. If anything, I was hoping to see less of Nicki and Sharon. I am exhausted by both. (Phyllis is a whole other story)  But Devon? The actor/character has always always been dull and boring. There is no spark, even when he is doing Angry Devon, no matter the love interest or storyline.

I agree. Abby and Devon together are dull. I know it’s not the actors fault that they were sitting there while Tessa was obviously not well but Devon should have been on his feet helping her out to get air and Abby should have been calling Mariah. It’s like the writers want them settled in this dull background role.

Unless there is another dining room (conveniently located off camera) to Society, then it seems to me pretty stupid for Devon and Abby to be hogging one of the few seatings (three tables, two bistro seats and a couch) that Society has to offer.  Tessa said they were fully booked for dinner reservations.  Are people standing up to eat?

Tessa, you should do what every other hostess is told to do and imbibe your hydration out of sight of the customers.  At the very least, leave your water bottle at the bar with the bartender.

Did anyone else wonder at "Warren's" ability to hear through glass panes?  Or maybe he reads lips?

Diane always looks comfortable in her clothes and hairdos; I sometimes wonder if she wears her own clothes & does her own hair.  She's a great example of how a 60-something woman can be hot and sexy while understatedly chic.

Nikki often looks stiff or uncomfortable in her outfits and hairdos.

Very possible with the actress who plays Diane and Nikki not sure.

If they have to show an old episode why not show something from 20 or more years ago? That ranch reveal with the flashbacks was bad enough the first time.

Not that I would want to see it but why not show something when Ian was first in town to give new viewers a context of who he is.

I'm not a big fan of Victor so I don't care if viewers detest him. I have nothing against Sharon and Claire. I like Claire but admit I liked Sharon less since she got too much botox. Phyllis is hit or miss but lately more a miss. It's not very becoming for a fifty something to act the way she does.

Yeah, TPTB probably spent a lot on the remade raunch set and probably thought we would love it.  But I found it depressingly claustrophobic. It seemed to be 3/4 or 2/3 the original scale, but with full-scale props, so everything was crammed together and overwhelming. And Victor's mumbling evades the boom mike so even the CCer can't pick up all of his oh so precious words about his beloved raunch.

Also … it seems obvious but the door at the original ranch was on the left and now they all enter from the right?  I cannot get past that. It honestly does not feel like a copy to me.

There was an odd period before the ranch burned down, I think, when the set was changed a bit and they put Nikki's piano right by the front door.  First of all, drafts & changes in humidity are not good for grand pianos and it would feel odd to play with your back to the door since that is where the constant stream of uninvited visitors walk in. And the blasts of cold winter air could not be good for her "MS".

Instead of singing Auld Lang Syne for New Year, Jack/Diane and Michael/Lauren chose to sing Kumbaya.  There was a lot of peace on earth and goodwill towards man except for the usual suspects.

Ian, how can the policewoman call the board of chaplains or the board of prisons.  It’s not only a holiday but it’s after hours.

Was Ian going to abduct Tessa or was Ian just a distraction to Sharon’s abduction?  Would Nick🦍 be smart enough to put a tail on Ian?  Come on, this is Nick🦍

The piano was by the front door after the ranch burnt down, in the "new" set before it was redone.  I remember that specifically because Nikki played the piano for and with Reed when he first came back to Genoa City in 2018.  It was such an odd place for a piano.

OK, it’s one thing to see Jordie sneaking around in her Bonnie-and-Clyde wig and beanie set, and Ian shuffling along in his dumb fedora & huge black coat.  That and their bantering & arguing was supposed to be entertaining & suspenseful?  Eh, not so much.  But the shot of Sharon unconscious, bound & gagged?  Ugh, that was grim & brutal to watch.  Blech.

I really enjoyed the episode from 2006. I can’t believe how Sharon and Phyllis looked so beautiful back then, but then they had to start with the Botox and the fillers and all the rest of that plastic surgery crap. Sharon is the worst, as her face is just turning into a blob of I don’t know what.  Phyllis looked very pretty in that episode, though I hate to admit it. Victoria didn’t look a whole lot different, but she was a little heavier back, then which she could use now, and her hair was still that ugly shaggy looking boho crap that she seems to like.

I really can’t stand this ongoing storyline with Ian and Jordan. To these writers, lack and talent so badly that they can’t come up with new and fresh ideas for storylines? And the population of Genoa city are so visually stupid that they can’t recognize Jordan with her stupid disguises? I mean the woman has such a homely face, craggy and pock marked. I think even a highly visually impaired person would take one look at Jordan and know who she was.

All this kidnapping crap is getting to be so totally boring. I mean, look at the crazies even on bold and the beautiful.  Josh Morrow‘s son only went to Forester creations so he could get lucky and score with all the models. But Electra has a crazy ex-boyfriend who is kidnapping her. Come on writers start coming up with something more original than crazy disguised people and kidnapping.

How was Tessa standing outside in that thin, sleeveless outfit with no coat? Everyone else in the scene was bundled up except Nick. I shivered on Tessa's behalf.

IMO Danny's hair is ridiculous, in a Kiwi Solid Paste Black kind of way.

I just noticed Lauren's sparkly cuff bracelets. Wonder Woman would plotz if she saw them.

When someone asks your partner to dance aren't you supposed to extend the same courtesy to theirs? Jack waltzed off with Lauren but Michael did not give a fcuk about Diane, lol.

Daniel said Lucy still doesn't have any friends. Well, her classmates' parents probably know who Lucy's GC grandma is and told their kids to stay away from that entire family. 😈

Did Ian seriously think Nick would buy his "I'm a changed man" claims? I mean, Nick ain't the sharpest tool in the shed but even he'd know better. And now Nick will alert his mommy and daddy.

Today we learned Lucy can mimic the moves of Grandpa Danny's backup dancers during his Rock On performances. Gee, maybe Lucy has a future in choreography. Sure.

Whaaat? Faith actually dialed 9-1-1 instead of texting Chance. I thought the Newmans had Phillip IV on retainer for all their law enforcement needs. 😏

Sigh, Nick put the GCPD in the position of not really having any grounds to arrest Ian despite Nick's alarm. So the next time Nick tries to call the cops on Ian, they'll probably blow him off as "the boy who cries wolf."

Aw gosh, Sharon was knocked out and practically hogtied in her fancy NYE outfit. No Happy New Year for her.

Oh, yay!  It's Friday.  Today's rant topic will be Arrogance of the Law (not to be confused with Ignorance of the Law).

  • Had the cop rolled up on Nick when he was manhandling Ian, Nick would have been charged with assault and/or battery.
  • Sending the 'girls' into Society was not a good move, either.  They are witnesses and what happened to Tessa is why the police were called.  (Somebody did get Tessa a coat, so she could have stayed out there.)
  • Nick shouting that Ian is a threat, a menace to society and very dangerous means nothing if you are using history as a reason for arrest.  And Ian damn well knew it.  (Slippery little eel, he is.)  Just the facts, Nick.  -see above:  keep the victim at the scene.-
  • Well, maybe they could have something on Ian for sharing his inhaler.  It's a no-no to administer meds without a license. (Being clergy doesn't count.)
  • Whenever Viktor (and now Nick and maybe Phyllus*) demands the arrest/incarceration of anyone all I hear is Sylvester Stallone saying "I am da Law!"  [and we know what happens when Viktor takes the law into his own hands-brussel sprouts anyone? Step into my convenient in-house prison cell.]
  • And then there's Michael. (Who apparently missed the classes in Rules of Evidence and Court Procedure.)  You can't go blab everything about a case to everyone you meet and certainly not in a public place where anyone can overhear.  He should be disbarred.
  • The whole "Ian is reformed and now doing his level best to help other prisoners see the right light" is a crock.  He probably got his Chaplain certification online and it means about as much as the Service Dog crap you can get online.  No prison is going to allow a convicted felon free range with other felons.
  • This rant is being brought to you by my 7 years experience as a Legal Process Specialist in a District Attorney's office and 3 in Superior Court (California).

Pro Tip for the writers:  HULU is streaming every episode of Law and Order.  It's not quite the same as actually going to law school, but it would suffice for what y'all are doing.  Watch it.  All of it.

You said it perfectly.

I know it’s not entirely relevant because Victor already obtained Chancellor from Jill. But who do you think Katherine really wanted to run her company?

1. Victor

2. Nikki

3. Devon

4. Other?

Why didn’t Tessa run to the hospital. She knows Ian now is up to no good, so how couldn’t these people figure out Ian drugged her? At least with that evidence, they’d have something on Ian.

Also dumb Nick took forever and the others too to realize Sharon never shown up.
