I was struggling to determine what was different outside of the color palette—maybe it's less covered in drapes? I can't believe they'd have to move out for weeks for THAT.

ICAM. The main thing I noticed is some of the dark wood paneling and trim had been painted white. The set is still kind of junky, with too much "stuff" in the living room. But now we'll have to listen for weeks to all the Abbotts taking sides on whether they like the renovation or not.

Nikki is the embodiment of spring break in that she has zero class. For someone who has been a part of high society for decades, she is surprisingly boorish and lacking in manners. (Did I hear her highness call a certain cosmetics company ‘Glee-sahd’? Wtf.) Audra quite pleasantly did not give a fuck. Lol@ Kyle trying to shade her for not having a job when he couldn’t get hired as a chin strap tester in a bike helmet factory unless his father owned it. It was a trend in the 1990s(?), mostly by mall rats who were trying to look sportif like marathon runners or Tour de France cyclists who wear them to keep wrists warm and protect knuckles from road debris kicked up by other racers. They do make arms look longer & thinner and cover up sun damage and protruding veins.

Did Diane move the fireplace to a different wall? (Who would do such a time-consuming and structurally complex thing unnecessarily?).  I thought it was on the wall next to the archway by the front door, not on the wall next to the closed door nearer the couch. I need before and after pictures!  Didn't Sharon when she lived there have a similar storyline which ended up with no demonstrable change besides new drapes. Getting rid of 50 years of dust and cobwebs and some fresh paint may have been all it took to brighten the place up. I too liked it as a tribute to Dina since the room seemed like a reminder of how the house looked before she left the family. There is something comforting about the house you grew up in or grandma's house staying relatively unchanged. But normally the kids move out and decorate their own homes in the style they prefer to live in today.

Daniel and Tessa are going to play guitars and sing at the coffee shop in tribute to Phoebe from the show Friends. They'll be singing her hit Smelly Cat. But that might bring Patty Williams back to town which is what this boring show needs. 

I think, knowing nothing about interior design, the remodel looks kind of Laura Ashley. 

Yes, Cole will probably need a transplant from an Abbott. I volunteer anything from Billy.

To me, the redo was beyond awful. Furniture and drapes were tacky and did not fit the style of the room. All the set designers had to do was freshen up what was there. Slipcover the sofa, etc. Some nice accessories, rug, paint, etc. This looked like a room from the 60s/70s - and not in a good way.

As another aside, if Amy is part of a clinical trial for her cancer, there is no cost to the patient. The only cost that Natey Nate Nate and Damian will endure is for food and housing.

I am insulted on John Abbott’s behalf that his portrait is not hanging over the fireplace. He was a longterm major character on this show during its early days- much more so than Dina, in my recollection.

 Otherwise that is the most old-fashioned interior design “update” I’ve ever seen. Womp womp. 

Now what do we have to look forward to? Amy just leaves town and now Cole comes home sick. I’m really hoping it’s TB and not cancer. Let’s see how many people he can take out with his international cooties.

Agreed on all that, Joi.  Clapton is beyond disappointing, but I was only referring to his talent, which can’t be denied.  And the reason I brought up his name is I vaguely remember MD mentioned him in some interview as one of his idols.  Wasn’t sure if he was comparing himself to Clapton, but thought it was laughable.

Still wondering where the Daniel storyline is going.  Tessa & Daniel will be playing Feelings for nickels & dimes in the coffee shop, while The Red Beast jumps up & down like a lunatic & claps furiously, wearing a tightly-tight, shoulder-less, handsie-sleeve, boobiies-baring get-up?  Which of course will skeer everyone away, leading Daniel to yet another “career”?

Oy, Michael Damian idolizes Eric Clapton? I think someone should introduce him to the guitar work of Eddie Vedder or Pat Metheny, or plenty of other esteemed and skilled guitarists who've managed not be drug or booze-fueled a-holes.

I'm surprised at this too.  Wonder if this is a purposeful slight coming from Bell.  I'd think a nice tribute to Jerry Douglas woulda been to have his portrait front & center in this redo.  And it would have made sense, since Jackie has been babbling so much about family.

I'll be in the minority on this, but I liked it.  But that's probably because I decorate similarly, though my stuff is more just old than any fine antiques.  Not much clutter, per se, but if I like where I hang a picture or put a dresser, chances are really good it'll still be in that spot 20 years later!

I was so bored this week I missed the reveal.  Pomp started talking {was it Pomp?} the only thing keeping me awake was Audra's hideous dress. That and  neon Bluetooth's twitching and manic speed talking.

Is there a new theme of woman’s clothing in GC?  Manic Phyllis🐍 in snake skin and Chelsea in zebra stripes.  It also seems that long sleeve dresses with hand covers also seem to be in vogue 

Yes Jack, it’s a big change but at least Diane didn’t change the front door.  The best thing is that Diane got rid of the dust collectors making the room is less stuffy.  

How big is Abbott Manor upstairs?  It doesn’t seem that Claire/Eve and Kyle would have much separation from the rest of the family live ins unless Abbott Manor has more than one master suite.

We’re still doing this with Chelsea and Adam? Why? For the love of all that is holy in this world, why? Not only must we suffer their living together glurge and their co-parenting glurge, but now we’re getting their workplace glurge as the cherry on the shit sundae. All Adam does is browbeat Chelsea into doing what he wants, which is exactly what she was supposedly worried about and people warned her about. It’s like they’re on a separate show, isolated from the rest of the canvas and stuck up each other’s backside. The proposal near miss was not cute, and the fools who applauded it should be pelted with breadsticks.

Did Lily join the Genoa City PD? She sure has no qualms about interrogating people in very blunt fashion. Instead of hassling Audra, maybe Lily could tour the town asking other people the tough questions that need to be asked. “Hey, Billy, what are we more likely to see first? A unicorn that poops delicious macarons or Abbott Communications’ launch?”

I’m just completely underwhelmed by Diane’s makeover. That’s just my own personal taste though. It doesn’t feel modern at all or even refreshed.

I kinda look forward to seeing what Audra will wear.  She’s got a fun, campy style & she wears stuff only she can pull off.  The handsie-sleeve dress she wore today was form-fitting & super long, but she looked great!  Luved the color on her & the “painted” flowers were really cool.

I was hoping for something with more of a Tim Burton flair. [To be fair, that should really be saved for Phylllthy's place, if she ever gets one.]  I do like this makeover, however.  It opens up the room towards a fireplace (that might even work!) No longer will everyone have to stand behind the couch to carry on a conversation/argument/plot reveal/exposition or to fix a drink being flanked by those maniacal pixies holding crystal balls.  The bookcases are a nice add and yay, I get to see actual wooden flooring.  And there isn't a wall of flowers on the fireplace.  Can't say I was excited about the portrait or its backstory.  I'd rather have an 80 inch flat screen up there.

Yeah, I saw that, but my point is, why have Dina the focal point of this redo and the Abbott home . . . & NOTHING of John Abbott anywhere?  Anywhere?  And then we see zillions of flashbacks of Jackie fondly remembering his father.  Er, huh?

Yeah, I think they came to some level of forgiveness for Dina abandoning the family, but to feature ANYTHING of Dina, while completely ignoring the patriarch of the family makes absolutely no sense.

And we’ve seen portraits of Vic & Katherine, yet nothing of John Abbott.  Makes me wonder why . . .

Opportunity missed- when Diane asked Jack if there was anything that should be changed. Yeah, yeah, the portrait had a back story but Jack should have said he'd rather see a picture of dear old Dad there.  Since nobody had ever seen the lady pic nobody would ever miss it.  Stash it in the dining room or in the kitchen with Mrs. Martinez.

Another thought- The vampire's portrait is in his office, not at home.  Couldn't Jack do the same for his father?  All we ever get are old B/W photos sitting around every once in a while.

Chiming in to say I'm not impressed with the updated Abbott house. It used to look like a museum... and it still looks like a museum. I suppose I'd have been surprised if they had gone for a modern style, as old fart Jack would have absolutely abhorred that.

The new Abbott living looks nice and a little more updated. Unfortunately, they now have a hideous orange couch that looks like it’s from the 70’s and later found at a garage sale in the 90’s. I did notice they screwed Traci all over again. On the fireplace mantle there was a picture of Dina and there was a group shot of John, Ashley & Jack. Traci can’t catch a break.

I thought I saw her picture behind them when they were sitting on the couch.  But she does have all her books in the bookcase.😉
