I used to prefer Saturday evening Mass as well. It seems a bit odd for Carlin to attend both the a.m. and p.m. service. Wouldn't you be listening to the same sermon twice?

No, the evening service is completely different, often more like a Bible study.  Unlike us Catholics, who can go once and get the whole experience, fundies tend to mix it up.  There's usually some singing, too.

My mom wasn't Catholic, my dad was.  We didn't have to go to Mass until we were first grade, although it was farily easy for my parents since my mom didn't go to church.  She did convert to Catholicism when she was in her 50's and we were grown and was pretty devout.  Back in the day, parents would often split up and one go to one Mass and the other to a different one so one of them could be home with their young kids.  However, nowadays, things are different and, juat as parents tend to take their young kids places my parents never would've; most families tend to go as a unit and at least one parent misses a significant part of the service dealing with unruly toddlers or crying infants.

Not a Baptist here but in the south especially the rural south, having services  Sunday morning and evening and a Wednesday night "prayer meeting" used to be common.  Seems like a lot of the Baptist churches in the metro areas do not do the Sunday evening anymore. ButI could be wrong about this. I grew up Catholic and Sunday morning was it for my family. The only time that we went to mass other than Sunday morning was on a holy day of obligation.

And who eats during church services?

I think it’s becoming more common. I used to attend a large Methodist church (urban, formal, high-church style). They always had coffee, juice and donuts in the gathering hall before and between services. For a long time, it was fine. People would stop by for a drink or a donut and chat on the way to Sunday school or whatever. But about a year before I moved, it changed. I was in the choir and while waiting to process in, we’d be shocked at the number of people walking into the sanctuary with their drinks and donuts. I think they finally put up signs. I’m not sure why all of a sudden people decided this was ok. Particularly the people letting their preschoolers carry in juice and snacks. You just know some juice and a lot of sugar ended up on the floor and pews.

Baptist, Assembly of God, Church of Christ, and Pentecostal followers all do twice-on-Sundays and once-on-Wednesdays (and whatever other days they can find an excuse for). Plus various other no-fun, I'm-right-you're-wrong offshoots follow the same schedule.

Topic: I notice in the photo that Carlin has resurrected the attention-getting, all-black Velcro shoe thing.

I believe I have earned the Most-Hyphens-in-One-Post Award. Since I was baptized Lutheran, we'll have coffee, apple juice, and doughnuts or cookies after the award ceremony. We will not eat in the sanctuary.

The Catholics get donuts and coffee once a month in the church basement AFTER Mass.  Of course, adults are supposed to fast for an hour before receiving Communion, so any grown up eating during Mass would  get strange looks. Babies getting bottles or even being breastfed -no big deal.

it used to drive my dad nuts when people would give their toddler a container of Cheerios or Goldfish crackers and the kid would scatter them everywhere and they’d just get up and leave at the end, crumbs and icky bits all over the floor and pew.  Drives me crazy, too.  If your kid cannot last an hour without a snack, don’t take them to church.  If they make a mess, clean it up!

Regardless of which denominations eat in church and which don't, why the hell do these people eat like 15 year olds left home alone by their parents??

Yes the snacks were for her bc she was prattling on and on about how she doesn't need a purse because HER man carries her stuff; and even Evan pulled out the Butterfingers, Reeses, Twizzlers, whatever else and was like - are we going to church or a movie theater?

I mean they've been bunking with MIL since mid last week, and you know there was some breakfast for all before church. I'm sure Carlin was preening the mirror or hocking some beauty product so she didn't have time to eat. Fine - wouldn't most normal adults just grab whatever kind of eggs MIL made and put them between 2 slices of bread; or if no eggs - 2 slices of toast and eat in the car? Or  an apple, banana, or granola bar? But nope let's start our morning with candy.

I realize she grew up deprived of treats blah blah, but honestly most people move out of their parents' home at 18 and yeah you do tend to buy candy at the check out counter or grab dessert with every meal at the college cafeteria - bc you can, bc mom isn't there to say no or raise an eyebrow. And then in 3 months it clicks, that just because you CAN eat ice cream with every meal doesn't mean you NEED to. It's been 4 years of marriage, has she not figured this out??

And you'd think someone with a history of serious health issues (cough, cough) would be extra vigilant about nutrition.

Right?? Though she was polishing off a corn dog in the car last week before the kids' drs appointments. She also had a pregnancy and post partum fueled by corn dogs - for the second pregnancy. I think with that pregnancy the dr said something about nutrition because then she'd show herself eating a turkey sandwich once in a while to show how healthy she was being, as if she made a 5 course home cooked dinner. I mean yeah better than Sonic corn dogs bc you at least get a bit of lettuce and tomato, but since when is processed deli meat SOOOO good for you that it counts as a healthy meal??

But then again this is the couple that was snarking and being passive aggressive about the cardiologist not doing enough testing, while showing up at at the cardiologist's office multiple times with Starbucks. Because you know caffeine is great before an EKG.

I get it they're 25 and 28, not at the ages where you worry about what you eat. But those are definitely ages where people realize you don't NEED candy, soda, ice cream, or fast food ALL the time. The novelty of being able to buy whatever you want totally wears off - and then you do occasionally grab a peach as a snack or breakfast rather than candy.

Pretty quiet BSB Saturday. By now don't we usually have crowd pics and pics of douchebag Evan screaming LET'S GOOOOOOO. They have 1 pic on their BSB IG that shows the line to enter and while they try to make it look super long, it looks like 40-50 people. And interesting in the one pic of Carlin with Kelly, there's exactly 1 shopper in the background, not hordes.

Is the leghumpers' disposable income drying up? Do they have their own lives and summer plans?

That “merch” has to be paid for before they sell it. If they buy 500 t-shirts and sell a dozen they will be taking a loss.

The only person I see buying anything is that girl who drove 13 hours to attend the cash and carry on Saturday. ( She was on Carlin’s stories)🙄

Leghumpers gonna hump. 😂

Lol and it took about 2 seconds on IG to figure out that that girl who came 13 hrs just graduated 8th grade. So clearly she's some fan girl who begged mommy and daddy that all she wanted for her graduation present was a road trip to meet the Bates.🙄Great for her and this stuff flatters the hell out of the Bates but give me an effing break. No business is sustainable in the long run bc you have 8th grade fan girls who come to your sale once and then save up their bday money to buy themselves an item from your website and then beg mommy and daddy for a Christmas present from BSB. And we can see that the business isn't sustainable long term just looking at the inventory stacked to the ceiling.

They were REALLY quiet about this sale too. Usually there's TONS of pics showing packed crowds and LOTS of talk re how busy they were and this time - nada. There was one pic at the opening showing a line outside, but obviously those were the leghumpers who had to arrive before the opening and line up. And even still while they took the pic to make it look like the line was never ending, it was 40-50 people max and in groups - meaning not every preteen who was dragged along to this bc mom wanted to go necessarily bought anything.

But fear not, while there is some $ SPEND SPEND SPEND. Z&W got a 100k SUV so obviously C&E now have to buy SOMETHING. Cue IG from today going on about how Carlin cracked her phone screen and it messed up the camera [the horrors . . . for someone who makes a living on pics and videos] so they can't fix it, so aw shucks gotta get a new one. I mean it's no 100k SUV but they're not poor, they're gonna spend 1k on a phone. No way is Carlin going with the cheapest $400-500 iPhone SE, hell no, SHE'S RICH.

I got my first iPhone last summer. It's an SE. Before that, I had a five-year-old Galaxy that was outdated a month after I bought it. And I work! F you, Stewarts.

Maybe the Stewidiots won't be so obvious as to buy a new car right after their rivals sweet besties did, but yeah, big purchases in their near future.

In my day, we didn’t even get graduation presents after finishing 8th grade. And I was a semi-spoiled kid, lol.

Sheesh, you'd think a 13/14 year-old would beg for something normal, like Taylor Swift tickets. That's a long road trip to buy the equivalent of a SheIn dress.

I saw their stories today and I swear, I've never seen two people run so many errands. Every day it's errands. Return something. Exchange something. Pick up something. Do they do nothing but shop? Or are they the types who deliberately don't stock up or take inventory of what they need so they have an excuse to go to the store every day?

Yep I'm a freaking lawyer with all the required higher degrees and a decade+ of experience and I use JUST an SE. Of course I don't need to prove my wealth to anyone, nor do I make my money by showing my IG followers that they must follow me bc I have a certain "lifestyle" they must envy.

Seriously what pre teen girl would rather have Carlin/Whit rather than Taylor Swift tix?? But reality is if you don't already have Taylor tix, even the very worst seats are going for $700-800 in most cities now. A 26 hr round trip will still cost less than that even assuming you grab a room at a roadside Hampton Inn. Plus I have to imagine this girl is very conservative christian - to people like that Taylor Swift singing about heart break and mentioning Pride from the stage is the devil, while Carlin/Evan and Zach/Whit are #couplesgoals.

Honestly @BitterApple they strike me like certain retirees I know. They are so so bored with life that they gin up an errand daily. Normal working people don't have 40 hrs/wk for errands, so they keep an inventory of what they use/need and do a weekly or biweekly grocery shopping/running of errands/ordering things they use. OTOH we've seen these idiots go to CVS to pick up toothpaste and diapers (at top $ I might add for anyone who has every shopped at CVS - but hey they're RICH). Uh hello most adults running their own household with the financial means keep an extra few toothpastes, shampoos, soaps in the house so they aren't running to the store the day they run out. And IDK any parents who don't stash away some diapers so they aren't down to the last one. They live like they're in a dorm or bachelor pad away from mommy from the first time.

And then while they're at CVS or Walmart or evil Target - oh Evan wants this energy drink, Carlin wants a candy bar, let's get Layla some chips too, this t shirt is cute, then lets stop at Sbux or CFA on the way home. It's like an activity for these people . . . .

Just to be clear - I'm not blaming or mocking retirees in any way. Many are too aged to work and there's some real loneliness sometimes or sometimes they can't handle the exertion of doing 4 errands in one outing, so 1 errand per day may be necessary for them. But a 25 and 28 yr old?? Come on - they have too much time on their hands.

Wow she has really nice parents'. My parents were great but would never drive me that far at that age they wouldn't even go that far for someone they were a fan off.

That made me laugh! You described me and my retiree friends!  But not from boredom.  I have plenty to do in the house - but, for my mental health need to get out of the house every day.  I never decide what I want for the evening meal until that day, so go get it.  And, get this! - cook it!!  But, I don't have small children, debt, or income issues.  When I had small children and worked, I made a list, did meal planning and did a "big shop" once a week.  The Stew crew seems to have real boredom with their lives and with each other that they can't settle down.

Your life sounds just like mine. Every morning my husband asks me "What are your plans today?"  Rarely do I have "plans." But that's the beauty of retirement. I. do what I want when I want. And what are we doing for dinner drives me crazy. I don't know what we are doing. I'll figure it out sometime today depending on what we had yesterday and the day before.

But like you when I had a young child and a full time job and school I did not live like the stew crew. In fact I did not know anyone who lived that way.

She seems to be bored with being a mother to two. The sad thing is that IMHO, it's ok.  My daughter has 2 kids herself--the same ages as Carlin's, and she HAS to work for her own sanity.  She has to get out of the house and feel productive outside of the home or she goes into a depression.  She loves her kids, but the SAHM thing is not her thing.  I know quite a few women like that and I think they feel some sort of shame around it.  I don't think it needs to be that way.  We're all different.  My daughter has a college degree and a career.  She has options.  Sadly, it seems Carlin's options seem a bit more limited due to her family's beliefs and upbringing.

Whatever the reason Carlin has for hopping around, her kids are paying the price. They have no routine and spend far too much time in carseats and in front of the camera.

If you have kids you need to make responsible decisions for them and you. Sure those decisions will look different, but the Stewarts don't seem to put their kids' needs first - ever.

Agree 100%, but the crazy thing is, Carlin has a business. She's not stuck in the house like Alyssa, who genuinely seems miserable about her life. I think she and Evan are just so immature and scattered. They could put Layla in a church-run preschool, but that means having to get her there on time. They could hire a sitter for Zade and put more hours in at the Boutique, but then there's less $$$ for nails and Starbucks. It's like so many of you have said, they want to live like carefree college kids but have the material benefits of a mature, adult life. The fact that those two things can't co-exist (unless you come from wealth) is what makes them unhappy and restless.

The Baptist and evangelical churches I've attended did not repeat the same service and sermon Sunday morning and evening.  They don't operate like Catholic churches.

They are both lazy and whiny. Leisure Boy is about to become Whiny Boy. They went to run errands at the mall and forgot the strollers. They rented one at the mall (cute car) for Layla. Evan complained that Zade was the one that was difficult to carry. Idiots, then rent two strollers, you blow plenty of money on unnecessary crap daily. Spend a few bucks on your kids.

There is no good reason why they didn’t have the strollers in the car. What used they have for them in the house? They take walks with the kids, but once they get home the strollers should be returned to their vehicle. They should also keep one of their many baby carriers in the car. Are these two ever going to grow up?
