Mystery Science Theater 3000 - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Mystery Science Theater 3000
. . . and now I have no idea what is on when, save for . . . Zombies. I managed to DVR and watch Gunslinger and Invasion of the Neptune Men, but the rest has been taken off the schedule on IFC.com. I need to go to bed. I'll cover the Lady Marshal and the destruction of the Hitler Building some other time. -
Not really. I still remember that one “And Now” bit. “He disrespected . . . the Wu-Tang Clan.” Cut to sound clip: “WU-TANG CLAN AIN’T NOTHIN’ TO FUCK WITH!!!” Good times.

Great, now John is going to lust after K-Pop stars like he did Adam Driver. Do we really want to know whom he thinks can “get it”? Seriously?!? 😜 Great episode. John illuminates another dim corner of the current crisis, and he still takes a swipe at Tucker “Human Squash Court” Carlson. Also, I’m guessing that getting the e-rat-ica was for the purpose of plugging up hashtags. And even if that wasn’t the original intent, it still works.

I got a like from someone on OKC. I wrote back. Later, I found out that the profile has either gone private, or it no longer exists. *sigh* It actually felt good when I got the like. I didn't overreact when I got it, I didn't overreact when the profile vanished for whatever reason. If she likes me back, hopefully I'll hear from her.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 - General Discussion

I asked IFC about future MST3K airings via their website. These episodes just popped up on the schedule. Probably a coincidence. Monday: The Gunslinger, Invasion of the Neptune Men (starting at 6:45 a.m.) Tuesday: The Corpse Vanishes, The Crawling Hand (1 a.m.) Thursday: The Robot vs. the Aztec Mummy (7:25 a.m.) June 29: The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies!!? (3:30 a.m.) July 1: Women of the Prehistoric Planet (3 a.m.) ETA: I saw The Corpse Vanishes. First season is so weird for me to watch. Stupid horror movie with Bela Lugosi that inserts too many comedic beats near the end. -

Mystery Science Theater 3000 - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Mystery Science Theater 3000
IFC is broadcasting an ep late Sunday/early Monday, June 29: The Incredibly Strange Creatures Who Stopped Living and Became Mixed-Up Zombies!!? I've seen a "best-of" compilation on YouTube, but I'll still watch. Nothing changing On Demand. FTR, these are the episodes that are currently available on the IFC site and on my Spectrum: Season 1: The Crawling Eye, The Robot vs. The Aztec Mummy, Women of the Prehistoric Planet, The Corpse Vanishes, The Crawling Hand, The Slime People, Project Moonbase Season 2: The Sidehackers, Catalina Caper, The Wild Rebels, The Lost Continent, The Hellcats Season 3: Stranded in Space, Time of the Apes, Fugitive Alien I know, I need a subscription service. I'm just generally old-fashioned about watching shows. -
Admittedly, I am taking for granted that anyone with a Skull gets into the final mission, and that there wouldn't be a twist to purge players who had to fight in Purgatory to qualify. TJ dropping a bomb and declaring how he's "the dirtiest player in the game" is so tiresome. I think twelve people running at the end to start isn't out of the question. It'll probably be like WOTW1, where the field is whittled down either through elimination, injury-related quitting, or both.

Before I go to bed: how funny was it for BMP to give us "The Kids Aren't Alright" by The Offspring? Basically, it's about how neighborhood kids failed to live up to their potential. That's, like, 90 percent of the field of Challenge veterans. Thinking what other songs could have been used . . . "She's Got Issues," "Why Don't You Get a Job?" and "Self Esteem." I like that last one. "The more you suffer / The more it shows you really cares" really speaks to me as a lyric.
-
Updated status on the individual males: I'm guessing there will only be one more Purgatory for them, and Jay's two Skulls won't be coming back into play. Basically, the odds that someone will be dismissed by Teege for not having a Skull are pretty slim. I could see a situation where both Josh and Kyle are left out in the cold, and two Skull-holders will battle it out in Purgatory. There's a part of me that likes weird stuff to happen, and having Josh and Kyle pitted against each other for the final Skull just seems so blah.
-
It looks like Dee knew she would fuck up royal several months in advance, so she decided to get in as much action as possible. Of course, BMP still ties their very best to edit her out. At one point, I thought they erased her from a shot of the Tribunal walking. Turns out she was just behind Fessy. Josh continues to be shut out, and I'm great with that. He's a punk bitch. I got a laugh that the only guy that won the mission (Fessy) already had his Skull. While I get Kyle bitching about Aneesa struggling . . . he should still STFU. Aneesa's punishment was basically getting to feel what it would have been like to play Reverse Tug-Of-War with Beth. The horror. The horror. Seriously, isn't Cory. Ryker and the baby mama already benefiting from being on an MTV show? I know Cory is a better option for a winner that a lot of the other bums, but I get turned off by people who use kids for motivation to win money. Still, though, I was good with him winning over Christopher. I'm guessing that if you need someone from Big Brother in the final, Fessy and Kaycee are acceptable. Apparently, Bayleigh has baggage. Josh is a punk bitch. The unborn child that Melissa doesn't know she's carrying is smarter than Josh. Oh, and I'm guessing that there will be one more shot for Josh and Kyle to get a Skull. Still hoping Josh strikes out one way or the other.

Short story: Cory beats Christopher in Purgatory. Josh is still a bitch. Dee continues to be minimized.

Pat: (looking over the "all-new, all-different" JSA): Court . . . I am very disappointed in you. So disappointed. Courtney: These are good guys, Pat! Not like I'm randomly handing out the stuff! Introduce yourselves. Yolanda: Hi, I'm Yolanda, and apparently, I'm Wildcat. I'm a pariah to the school and my family after I sent a topless pic to my boyfriend. Pat: (opens mouth) Yolanda: I DIDN'T EXPECT HIM TO SHARE IT! Anyway, Courtney is the first friend I've made since I've been cast from society, and I would say that even if she didn't give me an outfit that turns me into a cat-lady. Beth: (stepping forward) You're Pat Dugan!! Pat: (to Courtney) How could she-? Beth: It's the goggles! I sneaked into Courtney's house and came across these goggles. Now I know everything about everyone! Including you! Tax records, dental records, noteworthy birthmarks . . . Courtney: Beth, you should- Beth: Oh! And now Dr. McNider is giving me news from spoiler sites! WOW! Rick: I'm Rick. Apparently, I'm the son of Hourman. This dial gives me super-strength for one hour. Pat: And that explains the fist mark on your uncle's car. Rick: I have a lot of issues. Pat: I can imagine. (to Courtney) Do you realize the danger you're stirring up? The lantern alone could wipe out half the planet if it's used in the wrong hands. The things you took from that hall . . . that belonged to heroes. In some cases, they were pulled from dead bodies. Courtney: Look, Pat, I know this is bad, but everyone in Blue Valley is in danger. Even if they don't- Yolanda: (running away, screaming in horror) Beth: I don't understand . . . Pat: Courtney? When you took the Wildcat costume, did you wash it at all? Courtney: (facepalming) Oh, man . . . Rick: I'm having second thoughts about everything . . .

TDS 3.0 Season Five Talk
Lantern7 replied to scarynikki12's topic in The Daily Show With Trevor Noah (2015-2022)
After the fallout from the 2016 election, I said that I wouldn’t have blamed Trevor for tossing the keys to his office to Desi and Roy before walking away. And now, a after seeing tonight’s first segment, I wouldn’t blame him from walking off now. He probably sees himself as important in speaking truth to power, and I‘m in agreement with but there’s gotta be a limit to how much he can take. -
I don't think things are rigged. But on some level, I wouldn't be surprised if it was. I don't mean that the duels are faked and the brothers were faking a struggle. But I can see someone adjusting resistance via remote control. I know, stupid thought, and probably impossible to implement . . . but seeing the one guy come within inches of winning, then wind up losing it? My eyebrows go up. I'm probably wrong on that. I would have thought the Titans would have run the course a few times. Once again, I don't think Jessie had the skill set for this series. Also, with a famous "ninja" running, there was the chance she might hurt herself. ANW is stocked with quality competitors from both genders, but Jessie deserves to be front and center.

Second Mikukage: Guys, guys, guys. This should not be hard. I have been resurrected and I have no control of my actions, but I have free will. What are not getting about my giant clam? Ninjas: Sorry! Sorry!! Mizukage: Right. Pick up your weapons. I cannot believe that the five armies united and no one thought of a way to counter- . . . that's it! Random Ninja: What is it, sir? Mizukage: You are fighting me! And winning! Another Random Ninja: Huh? Mizukage: You've no reason to lie now. I get it! Your lackluster attempts at attacking me are but cover! In reality, a few of you are chipping away at my defense! Once again, I have free will! You can tell me! I want to be sealed!! Ninjas: (looking at each other) Mizukage: (facepalming) Sweet Ninja Jesus, you are being serious. This is the best that I can expect of you lot. Ninjas: (combined giant tear drop) Mizukage: (sighing) Okay, from the top. The clam is not where you think it is. It's- Ninjas: (tossing weapons at illusory clam) Mizukage: I hate you. I hate your whole damn generation.

I like Jessie. Who doesn’t? But I’m thinking Titan work and Ninja work don’t overlap too much for her. I’m thinking Meagan Martin might have been a better (or more apt) pick. The worst part is that the pandemic probably puts the kibosh on ANW, so this is the only place to see Jessie in action.

One of my favorite articles, detailing three days of the home run chase of 1998. Gary Smith went from St. Louis to Tampa Bay to Chicago in consecutive days to cover McGwire, Junior and Sosa.

S07.E15: Facial Recognition Software
Lantern7 replied to PrincessPurrsALot's topic in Last Week Tonight
Episode is scheduled for 11:23 p.m. I'm willing to bet that John might spend all thirty minutes banging his head against the Void Wall. -
Seems about right. On the other hand, if Matt and/or Trey decide to take a sabbatical or retirement, I wouldn't blame either of them. Twenty-three seasons is a hell of a run. Sure, The Simpsons will have outlasted it, but those guys don't have the pressure Matt and Trey have tried to carry. I think that's the advantage of 10-episode seasons. If you factor in two weeks off during that run, that's around forty weeks between seasons. Eventually, some of the fatigue wears off. While I get where you're coming from, this is not the series you go for character growth. Comeuppance usually passes South Park, CO.

Getting the HISHE treatment . . .

I wondered what would happen if Johnny did something so bad to warrant getting edited out like Dee. My conclusion: ten minutes. Each episode would last ten minutes.

S02.E10: Théâtre des Vampires
Lantern7 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in What We Do In The Shadows
Another fun season comes to an end. If the Emmys are still a thing, I'm hoping these guys get a few nominations. I'm glad there will be a third season, though I don't know where they can go. Guillermo basically decimated a theater full of vampires, and now his boss (and his friends) are aware. Nadja is the smartest of the three main vampires (or at least the most aware), and she probably never knew she was that close to possibly getting killed. Lazlo will probably lie and say he saw it coming. Nandor will probably fake emotion, mournfully looking into a mirror, knowing full well he can't see himself. Colin Robinson probably did see that coming, but he's all about staying on the sidelines and feeding the drama. Seriously, what is Gizmo's next movie? Nandor basically tried to disavow him, but then the host brought out a little guy dressed as Guillermo, and I think that pushed him to start the murder spree. Forgive me if this has been asked and answered already: does everyone in the house know about the Nadja Doll? Or is it one of those things where Guillermo was too pumped up to realize he was talking to a doll with the soul of a vampire before she became a vampire?
