I didn’t get around to chiming in on this episode. John made a lot of valid points . . . and then I realized he didn’t take 30-45 seconds to take a swipe at Tucker Carlson, especially with the latter’s “planned vacation.” Is something amiss? Do we have to watch John blink and translate that via Morse code? Because he looks like he’d know it. I share a birthday with Rob Mariano, so I sort of feel John’s pain. 🤓😜

Well, nice to see that the Mets are playing like it's mid/late-July already. *sigh*

Am I weird for wondering if teams should take down the safety nets, just to see what happens to cardboard cutouts when a line drive hits ‘em?

Funny115: The fall of Drew Christy. Apparently, Mario never wanted to do a “fall of” essay, but enough people convinced him that Drew deserved it.

We're a few months removed from the end of Season 4 . . . so why not get a rough sneak preview of a S5 scene?

Trailer! The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Shoot, I was about to post that. I'm really hoping this is a one-off. When the NFl players had their strike in 1982, didn't the playoffs get expanded to 16 teams as well? If the playoffs HAVE to expand beyond 2020, it shouldn't go beyond twelve teams. Someone wrote that middle-market tams would have more of a chance if they weren't beaten by richer teams, but I think the lack of teams competing in the postseason feels more "right" than the 16-team piles in the NBA and NHL.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 - General Discussion
Lantern7 replied to formerlyfreedom's topic in Mystery Science Theater 3000
I'm taking my time getting to Time Chasers and Overdrawn at the Memory Bank. These episodes just popped up on the horizon of the IFC schedule: August 5 (6:45 a.m.): Blood Waters of Dr. Z August 6 (7:15 a.m.): Boggy Creek II, and the Legend Continues August 13 (3 a.m.): Invasion of the Neptune Men (sillier space hero: Space Chief or Prince of Space?) -
"Was I a good agent?" "No, Enoch. You were a great agent." I'm going to miss the snarky son of a Chronicom bitch. At least he got to kick a lot of ass, albeit off-camera. We also got to see a really irritated Coulson, and that was fun. Overall, it was a fun and poignant episode. Time loops are an oft-used trope in genre shows, but it was done well here. But it's fun! Especially if you see Jemma die, and expect him to groan "I don't feel good" before dissolving into ash.

My thought exactly. Too busy napping to post it. I feel bad for Buffalo because they’re always at the top of the list for relocation or expansion, but their ship never comes in.

One more week of this. Then we can put this in the rear view mirror and never think about it again. Nothing has really changed. Josh is still a sad little boy in need of attention. Bayleigh and Christopher are cringe, but not in an interesting way. Jenna is still worrisome. Johnny is still full of himself. And CT is over most of the drama. Oh, and Jay comes off as goofy, but he was probably like that before Rogan slammed him. About the only fun I had was keeping up in a Challenge group on Facebook, dropping jokes at a fast pace. Granted, most of them are "best of" (Masturbating Bear GIF for Bear, balloon tattoo floating off Kailah's shoulder, Josh being sad), but it's good that I can keep up for the most part. CT has a wee dog named Chewbacca. Gotta be Lillie's dog.

Bring on the unauthorized Golden Jays merch! How ‘bout Bill Mazerowski and Joe Carter shaking hands in a manly manner? Or acknowledging each other in a manly manner!

I lost a battery from the remote, and I wound up missing the first five minutes. I guess Pat didn't try to deal with Barbara with a brick to the head, huh? She reacts like any sane person would. "What the hell have you been doing?" "I'm taking up my father's legacy!" "Father?!? Pat, what have you been telling her?!?" "She came up with that on her own. If I had any sense in my head, I would have buried the staff under a lot of concrete." But since this is a genre show, Barbara seems to get in on the action via secret audio recording and an Evil Norwegian/English translator. Can that be found in an app store? And JSA Jr. reacts to Courtney's pitch to have Henry join about as well as you'd expect. Yolanda wants to cut him up into Tender Vittles made for humans, Rick wants to pound on him because he has a lot of anger issues, and Beth seems good with the idea because she's just a ball of sweetness and light. Sadly, her main power is basically having access to an AI, and "Chuck" doesn't seem to work underground. She's not Dr. Mid-Nite. She'd barely qualify as Pre-Med Mid-Nite at this point. Usual fun stuff goes down . . . Henry gets bonding time with a sympathetic version of his dad (System Restore?), but it turns out that he's as unrepentant an asshole that you can find, and he killed his wife/nemesis. Rick basically abandons the mission to try and extract vengeance on Solomon Grundy, and Beth can't talk him out of it. ("What happens if you fight him and he kills you? What then?!?" "Crap . . . he'd run amok in Blue Valley." "Actually, I was thinking he'd kill me next, but THEN he would destroy the town.") We get a good look at Dragon King, and now I'm hoping Cindy is adopted, because DAMN. Cindy also shows she's a massive pain in the ass even when she's locked up. And Mike is now the only person in the house that's out of the loop. With his luck, I'm thinking the bulldog has known about the Courtney/Stargirl thing.

Anticipation for Cowboy Bebop (2021)
Lantern7 replied to Meredith Quill's topic in Cowboy Bebop (2021)
That was unexpected. And awesome. I never figured Honest Trailers would cover anime AND that they wouldn’t make it hard to find like they did with Honest Trailers Anime. -
Dumb idea: if a game goes past 11 innings, the managers choose how many men are on base in each subsequent inning. For example . . . 12th inning, visiting manager would put runners on first and third. At the bottom of the inning, the home team does the same. If the game is still tied, home manager picks the runners. The two teams would alternate until there is a winner. Once a choice is used, it can’t be done again unless all eight options (bases empty; runner on first, second or third; runners on 1st/2nd, 1st/3rd or 2nd/3rd; bases loaded) are exhausted. I would suggest this thing start in inning #13-14, but after the eleventh would justify it.

Here's what I usually do when I respond: note that I liked the profile, express the need for friendship, admit that I would want more than that if not for the pesky pandemic, give details about myself, then invite them to read my profile. Is that too vanilla? Occasionally, I add in stuff based on their profile. I don't even try to flirt, because I figure that would be a disaster waiting to happen. I just want to offer a sample of myself . . . and I'm thinking maybe that's as appetizing as a stale cookie.
