  1. Only Survivor from another country I know about is Turabi "Turbo" Çamkıran, who popped up on two seasons of The Challenge. I think of him as the Turkish Chuck Norris, and I think he's the only person to ever win back-to-back seasons of a Survivor. He won on his first Challenge, but he was more or less booted from the second season. More on-topic: what is this game they play? It's all online stuff?
  2. Does that include Kris & Jon? They were legitimately lovely people.
  3. I forgot to mention something I said on a fan group last night: the episode should have been titled “Elmer,” because the main letters were “F,” “U” and “D.”
  4. New episodes are on their way. Here’s a clip:
  5. I read that on the episode's page on TVTropes.com. I also know that the alternate title was Five The Hard Way (like the opening song), and maybe it was changed to The Sidehackers to make it look like a sports flick. And then audiences got unpleasant characters they'd forget immediately after watching. Nothing new On Demand. Maybe I should want for the start of July for possible episodes? And I still got four Season 11 episodes left to watch.
  6. Dee is so annoying, she manages to break through the retroactive editing to send Mattie packing and stay in the game. I'm thinking she's the favorite to win, seeing how The Challenge is where hope goes to die. Johnny and Josh are close behind, though they could count as one entity now that Josh has jumped from Wes' jock to Johnny's. Apparently, the new editing (the "de-Deeing"?) cut out a lot of stuff, including Josh on a crying jag. Once again: Josh is a clown. Unless he's wearing a skin mask. Then he is a lousy mime. I will say that we could probably live with sixty-minute episodes. Mission, picks, Purgatory, done. I can live with that. Mission looked fun, but then Teege got his undies in a twist about cheating. Here's what puzzles me: if you are strapped next to a friend, and that person either wants to avoid Purgatory or get into it, what incentive is there for you NOT to help her out? And the guys have no real incentive beyond making the Tribunal, I think Teege just wanted to flex. Thanks to several guys getting disqualified, Josh winds up winning almost by default, and at a point where he can't jump into Purgatory. Way to go, Josh! And way to get Melissa to bring in Johnny! Melissa still makes me nervous. I mean, she probably didn't know she was pregnant at that time, and her daughter came into the world without any problems . . . but suppose she wanted to try to get into the final mission? She would have been put in a grueling Purgatory where it looked like both competitors were gassed out. Can you imagine the ambulance carting her off, and then BMP found out she was pregnant? That's a shitstorm that would rival Dee's current drama. I'd say Mattie is stronger than Dee, but digging her way out of a box put her at a disadvantage. Actual, I think that game is a keeper . . . though maybe the box could be longer, and players would have to dig a path through it rather than start inside it. Lately, I've been watching bits and pieces of both Kill Bill movies on the Showtime channels, so I had to wonder if Mattie or Dee thought about punching the box's top until it broke. And Johnny got to grandstand. Lovely. I mean, asking Rogan for his "blessing" to vote Dee isn't the worst thing he's done, but it does show he's committed to being the supreme shit-stirrer. And I fear that he'd get a positive spin should he win his seventh title. The only up side is that there's probably not going to be a traditional Reunion, so Johnny wouldn't get cheered on by his legions of "stans." You know, the same folks that applauded the highlight of him stabbing Sarah in her soul.
  7. I need to make time to watch all of Adult Swim's commencement speakers. So far, I've only seen Carl, Maria Bamford (a woman after my own heart) . . . and this throwback: I have to ask: was his show more fun if you had "shrooms"? Scarier?
  8. Here is the updated status of the women: My best guess: Episodes 12-13 go down as usual, and two more Skulls are awarded. Episode 14, Teege brings out the Skulls left behind by Jenna and Jay (as well as anyone who would've been eliminated with a Skull in Episodes 12-13), and puts them up for the other players. Those get awarded, and anyone without a Skull is dismissed. And then Episodes 16-17 will cover the final mission. I still think Dee wins, because this is a show where hope goes to die, and having someone disavowed by MTV (they put up a brief PSA at the beginning! That means they mean business!) getting a million bucks seems too likely.
  9. Heads Up: this episode is scheduled to run for sixty minutes. If you’re jonesing afterward, MTV will be running the episode of Ridiculousness with Johnny at 9.
  10. Enoch might deserve spin-off once AoS ends. The voice is something like Spock mixed with Leonard Snart (Captain Cold) from Arrowverse. "I cannot allow you to leave the-" (kicked in face) "I appreciate your vigor, but I have or-" (punch punch kick) "Agent May, you must cease. This is a futil-" (table to the face) "My endoskeleton skull is now exposed. If I were vain, that would be a problem for me." Fun that this is now the official time-traveling geekfest show on the air. I'd take the Legends over the Agents, but it's good that they're probably not sticking to one time anytime soon.
  11. I guess no one is watching. Well, I just want to bump this thread up because "Happy Family Planning" airs this Saturday, and it's one of the more effed-up episodes of the series.
  12. Yolanda: Hello. I am Yolanda . . . a bright girl that made one mistake. Today, I am slut-shamed on a daily basis, looked down upon by the beret-wearing extras from Mean Girls, and I am grounded until the Pope converts to another religion. Two weeks after that, I get to go out. Maybe Courtney: Hi, I- Yolanda: I don't like you. Courtney: But I have this- Yolanda: The hell is wrong with you? I want to be alon- Courtney: I blew up Henry's car! Sorta. By accident. Yolanda: You have my skeptical attention. (later, in Courtney's bedroom) Yolanda: Holy-! This Wildcat suit shrunk to fit my female body! Courtney: Dammit! Yolanda: What's wrong? Courtney: You hear about how the sewing machines in Home Ec got wrecked? Yolanda: That was you? Courtney: Apparently, the suit that my dad used- Pat: (feeling the need to facepalm even though he's nowhere near his stepdaughter) Courtney: -didn't have whatever magic that costume did! Yolanda: Awesome. I am ready to take a lot of risks now! (one break-in and near murder of an ex later) Yolanda: I made a mistake. I trusted the wrong person, and I take responsibility for that. Can we please go back to the way things were? (awkward silence) Mother: You disgraced our family. Father: If nunneries were still a thing . . . Yolanda: Right, right. Season finale. I'll just go to my room, pout, then find the magic suit my new blonde bestie gave me. Painful episode, and it's from James Robinson, who wrote Starman for DC Comics and co-created the Cosmic Staff that Courtney uses . . . but it's a good episode. Of course, Courtney still has a shitload of dangerous items stuffed in a duffel bag, and that's nine kinds of wrong . . . but if we're going to lean into that trope, why not go full-on? Everything else felt like background noise. I guess Mrs. Wizard got killed? Also: is there a shot of the Injustice Society available? I think I might have seen one of Robinson's most-used characters in there.
  13. From what I’ve heard, Dee has been working a lot of nerves lately, to the point where Wes kicked her out of his place. Here’s a post from Stop Bring Polite. i get where you’re coming from, @ImpinAintEasy. It’s mostly a spectrum of bad with Challengers, and watching one take the moral high ground on another seems farcical.
  14. The Giant Spider Invasion: Redneck town in Wisconsin deals with increasingly large spiders from outer space. Lots of "Packers won the Super Bowl!" jokes from Mike and the bots upon watching mob scenes. Bear in mind that MST3K was made in Minnesota, and I'm guessing most of the people involved were butthurt Vikings fans. Lots of unappealing characters . . . to the point where Alan Hale's overweight sheriff doesn't come off that bad. Also: Pearl and Observer are possessed and foist familiar-looking "zucchini" on the crew. Great to see Crow with bloodshot eyes, jittery from caffeine. Parts: The Clonus Horror: I think this was supposed to be a "deep" sci-fi film about the nature and ethics of cloning. Funny story: according to the TVTropes page for this episode, fans of the show tipped off its director about the way-too-similar-to-be-coincidental The Island, and he wound up getting a generous settlement. Parts? Yeah, that was unintentionally hilarious, with dim clones hoping for their shot to come to America ("TODAY!"), unaware they'd be harvested for their organs. In the other story, Pearl and her gang get hassled by annoying Space Children (one of them played by Mike Nelson; you'd think he'd stop playing bit roles after becoming the host), with one of them specializing in throwing baseballs at Bobo's crotch. Good times. Catalina Caper: I think "Young People Dancing" would be an official sub-category for MST3K. Saw this On Demand; lots of madcap comedy, attractive people, and putz grown-ups. I decided t watch it on the "strength" of a performance from the late Little Richard (posted below). So many white people. So man. I also watched The Sidehackers, but that didn't register on me. The concept of "sidehack" racing seemed interesting, and it apparently still exists today, but we get too removed from that. Meh. Nothing new On Demand from IFC in regard to the classic or revival. I can watch full episodes or clips on YouTube (a lot of them on the official MST3K account), but I'm old-fashioned in wanting to see it on an actual television.
  15. From CBR: Details on Funimation's virtual convention.
  16. In case you didn't hear, Dee made some incendiary tweets, and then the Challenge Twitter posted this: My interpretation on this breaking news and the outcome of Total Madness: Dee wins $1 million. Why not? One, this is a show where assholes get big paydays. Two, we already had a winner (Camila) who was “canceled” midway through her final season. Or maybe it’ll be Josh. 🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️🤦‍♂️
  17. Anyone else expect the credits to roll as audio of John puking was playing? I don't mean for comedic effect . . . this has been his tough year on LWT, and the events of the past few weeks must be weighing down on him. Look at the still of him in the first season. Even if John's accelerated aging doesn't turn out to be as severe as Jon Stewart's seventeen-year stint on The Daily Show, it still isn't healthy. And fun to see those that talk the toughest probably dreaming of wielding that much power. Especially Tucker Carlson. At this point, I'd be rooting for John to take a swing at him. Gotta love how John gets a patronizing tone going as he "talks" to Tucker, ending by swerving into "fuck you!" For the audience, I think it's a better running gag than John's overtures towards Adam Driver.
  18. Still working through the backlog. Ash just beat his third Kahuna, and Team Rocket can do Z-moves. I’m posting because this was posted by the franchise’s YouTube. I have to say that it’s a nice homage to old-school American cartoons, and only having two Pokémon in there (MC Hammer Pokémon and Discount Nightmare Pikachu) works well here. ETA: I forgot that Litten evolved into Torracat, and Ash has a small Ultra Beast in Poipole. ETA2: I saw Mallow's Steenee evolve into Tsareena. Is it me, or does Tsareena come off as a dominatrix?

Dream Bracket 2 wraps up; 1986 Mets are the champions of champions. Well, at least with mostly post-WWII teams. You bring in squads like Murderers Row and the Gas House Gang, they would have been tough for any team to beat.
  20. I'm still watching, though it always feels like I'm walking into the middle of a movie because I forget stuff from the prior week. Basically, a demon tricked the elves, and now the elves and Magic Knights have teamed up against him. Also: the statue of the first Wizard King was actually him in suspended animation, and now he's in the fighting as well. And the plump bird (I want to say "Noir") turned out to be his best friend, and she did a Yoruichi. Oh, and Charmy is half-dwarf. Seems about right.
  21. While we're waiting for the last few episodes to get dubbed, here are characters from The Boondocks costumed as the heroes and villains of BnHA/MHA: Stinkmeaner as All-For-One makes so much sense. "I'm baaaaaaaaaaaaccckkk!!! And this time, I'm stealing yo Quirks!!"
  22. Funny115: Fun-filled endurance mission in San Juan del Sur. Special focus on Wes' love of poultry in nugget form!
  23. Thinking about it . . . we might wind up with another set of Double Purgatories heading into the final mission. But isn't one of the main features of this format that a few players get left out in the cold with without a Skull? We've done ten episodes. I'll go out on a limb and say we'll be getting 17, and the last two would focus on the final mission. So maybe it'll just be girl-boy-girl and then the finale? I'm also thinking Jay and Jenna's Skulls would be made available for winning, but I think that would defeat the purpose of the format.

Fox Sports 1 will be running a TWIB from 1989 tomorrow night. In other news, the '86 Mets are up 3-2 on the '01 Mariners in the Dream Bracket.
