I have a weird question that I can't figure out how to find the answer for. I have Power of Attorney for my father, who has dementia and who likely only has a few days left. I did his taxes yesterday and sent them off electronically, signing my name and "POA" after it like I did last year. He owed a little bit, so I wrote the checks on his account, signing them as POA, and mailing them off. There is a high likelihood that he will die before the appropriate taxation entities receive the checks. Are those checks still good? I mean, I know POA goes away upon death, and I won't be able to sign anything for him after that, although I am also executor of the estate, and I'll be the one taking care of post-death business. Anyone know anything about this?

Warren was horrible. -
Oooh, they should get Pete a recliner! A big, comfy La-Z-Boy!

3/5 with one asterisk this week.

Oh, shoot. Should I have replied in this thread instead of the main one?

I could have sat here all night and never come up with even the merest hint of a clue for FJ tonight. Nothing at all about that clue led me anywhere. However, I did get quite a few TS, including witty city ditty, Mrs. Roper, Tyler Perry, Partridge Family, French trench stench, Hiccup, and The Neverending Story.

Fixed that for you! 😉

I love that Jay and Sass can hang out now, even if it is only in dreams. But, Bad Sass for using his power to influence decisions like the pizza oven and where to hang the TV! FWIW, I agree with Jay -- don't hang the TV over the fireplace, especially if it's a functional fireplace.

I live in Virginia. I got FJ. I've visited there many times. The one in Virginia, not the one in Italy. I also got the TS of Scott Hamilton, John Belushi, constable, and liquor store. Poor Scott Hamilton! I don't think he looks anything like Mary Lou Retton!

Why Grammar Matters: A Place To Discuss Matters Of Grammar

I've known people from the Baltimore area who have those pronunciations. -
At least Jackie's tracking her phone, I guess? Assuming Bev doesn't misplace the phone, of course. I get it, too, Bev's not wanting to be confined, but even in her moments of clarity, she really can't take care of herself appropriately. And what will she do when her meds run out? They should have ended this show last season.

I got FJ tonight. Not quite an instaget, though. I had to wend my way through the OK Corral to determine who it might be. I also got the TS of mumbledy-peg, Louis L'Amour, Galapagos, and Amy Tan.

Catching up from Monday's show first -- instaget FJ. So much so that I questioned myself, but -tussis means coughing to me, so I stuck with it. And I got the TS of Small Business Administration, Kyle Chandler, and Great Lakes. Tonight, I had no clue for FJ. I'm not sure I even understood the clue! I wish I could say I was distracted or something, but I have no excuse. I got several TS, though, including slush pile, uranium, stop bath, Great Escape, and The Importance of Being Earnest. I figured the missile delivering mail was a watercraft, but I went with aircraft carrier.

I saw this in the theater last night, and loved it! I thought it was hilarious with some serious moments. The ending(s) at the awards banquet slayed me, and I can't decide which one I liked best. I did think he should have been honest with Coraline from the start, though. I think she would have been cool. It was interesting, too, that the female author couldn't (or didn't want to) see the similarities between "Fuck" and "We's Lives in Da Ghetto." Jeffrey Wright as Monk, trying to act "street" had me in stitches every time.

Say What?: Commercials That Made Us Scratch Our Heads

Per Wikipedia: In the 1930s, with the introduction of aggressive Brahman bulls and Brahman crossbreds, the job became much more serious.[1] In the late 20th century, acknowledging the great danger faced by the profession, the term bullfighter began to replace the name rodeo clown in formal use. I really wish these In Memoriams would just use a recorded instrumental piece of music instead of a live singer. Then maybe they could focus on those who have died instead of on the singer/musicians. That said, I absolutely love that they used a clip from The Full Monty for Tom Wilkinson.- 3.5k replies

How old is Sheldon meant to be at this time? I suspect he is required to have a parent or guardian with him. -
Pet Peeves: For when your neck pain is a pain in the neck

New day, new peeve, but about the same sickness. I still can't figure out what is wrong with me! I've had three negative COVID tests, the last one with a definitely unexpired kit. It has now lasted too long to be "just" a cold, and it's certainly not the flu. I'm leaning towards sinus infection at this point. -

Don't book a Caribbean cruise between June and November -- it's hurricane season. I don't do conventional cruises, but I have gone on a number of expedition cruises. They take you a bit off the beaten path, and are more about nature -- no fancy floor shows or dress-up nights for dinner. The ships are small, too, with maybe 150 passengers total. I never used to get any kind of motion sickness, but after the trip to Antarctica, crossing the Drake Passage, I've gotten a little more sensitive to the rocking of the ship. And this next bit is going to sound really really weird, but it works for me. I take a package of plain Goldfish crackers, and eat a handful or two first thing in the mornings on the ship -- before I do anything else. Having something in my stomach settles it, and having something plain, bland, and carb-y definitely helps. All that said, if you don't want to go on a cruise, your husband needs to back off. -

Oh, I lied -- I missed Tuesday, not Monday. Score's still the same, though.

4/5 this week, with the asterisk. I only missed Monday.

I had to think about FJ for a second, but I got there in time. I also got the TS of Harry Truman and Ernest Shackleton. She does have a bad case of vocal fry.
